Hello babes! Happy Wednesday! A little late on the post but a Beautiful start to the week. Finally WEEK 5 (phase 2) of my LIVE FIT TRAINER program has begun, and I couldn’t be more stoked. Finally some shit is about to start going down! Cardio is increased from ZERO to 3-4 days a week including 5 days of weight training. Another exciting part of this phase is the “leaning out.”
Remember the first 4 weeks, yeah, that was all “bulking.”
Now it’s time to shred!
Monday came and went sooo fast! Lots of meal prep going on here! During this PHASE 2, I decided to switch things up a bit. I’m starting to get more outside the box now. Chicken, sweet potato & broccoli kind of got boring so, I’ve now moved on to ground turkey, lean sausage, tuna, and some other fish like cod & tilapia. Brown rice, quest bars, and flax crackers as my starches, and a larger array of colorful veggies. I’m definitely feeling more comfortable with really understanding how much of each macro nutrient I should be eating.
The diet remains pretty similar to the last phase and nutrition is KEY!( 5-6 meals a day. = approx: 20 carbs/ 9 fat/ 24 protein per meal) other than my dinner now has no starch pretty much.
This is considered one of my 5-6 meals in a day. Of course, now, I season everything with mrs. Dash. (NO salt seasoning to reduce sodium consumption)
I’ve measured this out to be less than 200 calories.
1 sausage link: 120 calories – 6 grams fat ( you could try veggie sausage as well, just not sure how many cals and fat they have.
1/2 cup frozen onions and peppers
3 chopped asparagus
1/4 chopped zucchini
***Cooked on non-stick skillet with any organic pan spray.( I like Trader Joes coconut oil spray)
Another small meal option ( under 250 cals)
One can of albacore tuna in water. Mixed with your faves.
I make this and have it ready to go. In a Tupperware..in the fridge..ready to grub. Prep is key. I pretty much am always hungry, and if I don’t have stuff made and prepped in the fridge, such as this, or hard boiled eggs, maybe some turkey slices, I will eat whatever the eff is naughty and around me. Lol.This recipe is simple:
Apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar ( a splash)
1/2 a juicy lemon
1 tbsp capers
4 chopped cherry tomatoes
1 dollop fat free sour cream
Salt & pepper
A bit of chopped fresh onion
A squeeze of siracha or fave hot sauce;)
(Optional : cilantro)
Ok, sooooo I didn’t completely cut out boring ass lean chicken, cuz the truth is…it is a great source of lean protein, and I do believe I need at least once a day;)
6 oz here folks.
Made a whole big batch of organic brown rice in an ancient rice cooker that I pulled out of god knows where. ( low carb lady hasn’t had “rice” in AGES!!!) anyway, really excited about I cooperating this starch. Before 4 p.m. This is;)
1/2 a cup RICE = a serving
And for my fave part!
This kale Sautée!
Sautéed with shallots and garlic with a bit of coconut oil spray on a non-stick pan
The SECRET To this delicious kale: STEVIA!!!!. Yep. That’s right. Kale tend to taste a bit bitter, so I added just a few drops of liquid stevia to the mix and Voila!!!! Sooooo good! Try it!
On top of my new fitness routines and nutrition plan during PHASE 2, is the introduction to new fat burning and toning supplements. In doind ALLLLLLLLL of my research, I’ve found a company and product that is best suited for me.
NO Extreme is my (no-creatine ) PRE WORKOUT supp for phase 2 and C4 (w/ creatine for phase 3
HD is my fat burner. On for 8 wks. off for 4 wks cycle. (did not use fat burners during bulking. Phase 1)
CLK is my supp stacked with the HD for toning & sculpting. Also on a cycle of 8 wks on 4 wks off.
BCAA is my Aminos for DURING and POST WORKOUT.
Time to take things to the next level!
Once PHASE 1 was over…I had to trash them. Poor babies. Time for some Harbingers!
I started busting out my CEP Compression socks for heavy LEG days. I really do find that it helps promote circulation and reduces chances of injury. They take a year to put on my damn feet, haha, but well worth it.
Here she is folks. No filters. just me. I see improvement in muscle definition after just 4 wks of this program! Ok, of course, not near where I want to be, but on my way.
Obliques are making their way to front and center and biceps are slowly but surely reaching for the sky. Listen, it’s a journey. No one said it would be easy. I feel great, strong and healthy. With this program, I’ve found nutritional balance in caloric intake which I’ve always struggled with. Alright time to make those muscles pop now!!!! lol.
I’m signing off for today, headed to the gym for serious leg day….but leaving you with an awesome recipe that is perfect for a LEAN, CLEAN meal!

In other news….
That’s right! I absolutely LOVEthis time of year:) Today’s post may not have to do with my LIVE FIT TARINING PROGRAM, and it may be quite random to most of you, but….I just felt compelled to share with y’all some of my absolute FAVES this month.
September is the BEST month. It marks the beginning of boots and sweater weather, and everything cinnamon, spice, and everything nice. The leaves start to change and the air finally crisps up. I’m in the HOT San Fernando. Valley, so I’m beyond ready for this EFFIN heat to go bye byeeee.
Ok….first things first.
My coworker came to work in these the other day, and I just about died. They areeee sooo cute, comfy, ( cuz the heel is mellow) and are the perfect ankle height.
Well, here’s the catch. They are Sam Edelman, and go for $160.00. I wasn’t even planning on buying them, but I did love them. Sooooo, the other day, on one of my TJ MAXX maxinista shopping sprees, I saw these little puppies from the corner of my eye. one fucking pair!!!!! And when I say, I ran to them…..I’m not even close to exaggerating.
#1: THEY WERE $24.99
# 2: SIZE 7!!!!!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Could I have been so lucky!?
Mos def..the happiest purchase of the month;)
MAMA BOUGHT NEW BOOTIES…
A new IPHONE!! Bye bye iPhone 4. I hated my service and frankly, that damn phone wouldn’t even ring anymore. Piece of sh*t. I switched from ATT to Verizon, and finally got myself the new iPhone . Really, I went to originally pre order the 5s ( which I’m soooo glad I didn’t now, after all the complaints) but after speaking to a bunch of the staff at Verizon, they convinced me that the new phone wasn’t really worth it, sooooo here we are. My new sidekick, the new iPhone.
I don’t care if you don’t like rap & hip hop…but, for me, this was by far, the most anticipated album this year. DRAKE’s “Nothing was the same“
Holy emotional, amazing, sexy, dirty, crude and honest! I’m sorry, but he’s a genius. Some amazing collaborations in this album. I highly. Recommend it.
THIS ALBUM.. SO RIGHT.
ON SOOOO MANY LEVELS…..
I CAN’T STOP…..
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!!!!
Best show evvvaaaaaa! So, yes I know…it’s not on the air anymore…but hunnnnnayyyy, this bitch ain’t got no cable, sooooo , old shows will have to do! Lol
Who would of thought I would be so obsessed with a high school football show, but it is fantastic! On season 2 now, and I swear, I’ve been watching like 3 episodes before bed.
ALL PUMPKIN EVERYTHAAAAANG…..
Ohhhh heyyyyyyyooooo! That’s right…pumpkin everywhere you look in my house. Pumpkin protein bars, pumpkin fiber bars, vanilla pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin protein muffins, pumpkin candles, pumpkin pie scented soap….you name it.
PROTEIN ON PROTEIN.
This whole month, while doing the LIVE FIT TRAINING PROGRAM, my life has become protein on protein, on protein. My whole daily diet has become chicken breast, egg whites, veggies, brown rice or sweet potato, protein goodies, and fish. It actually has been really yummy. The foods are all prepped very simply, and without added salt and sauces. One might call this lifestyle dry…I call it, THEBOMB!
LIFT…& I MEAN…HEAVY!
Favorite part of September by far… Learning to be da bosssss in that weight room gurrrrl! I’ve been loving lifting weights and… heavy I might add! This bulking phase is sooo fun! Don’t waste your times on those 5 lb’ers ladies! I promise you won’t get “BIG” eat clean and lift heavy…you will see results that will astonish you! don’t let those boys intimidate you out of here. Be the shit! Own it.
Let’s see what October has to offer!! I’m not a big Halloween person, so that’s not really on my ” excited for october” list, but I am looking forward to finally signing up to be a FITFLUENTIAL AMBASSADOR !!! open applications are open OCTOBER 1st!!
Happy weekend my loves!!! Today is Saturday, ( I’m sure you won’t be getting this post till tomorrow though;) but….I wanted to start catching you all up on how well the LIVE FIT TRAINER program has been going.
I just finished 2 weeks, and I feel super fit. I’ve been lifting heavier than I have ever lifted, without any cardio. Well, except my Zumba class on Mondays;) shhhh. Don’t tell Jamie Eason
Anyway…if I didn’t know the extreme importance of a healthy diet then…… I sure doooooooo now!!!!! Wow! I was actually imaging my body looking like a fuckin gladiator with all this lifting and no cardio, but in fact, the opposite. My body feels tighter, not bigger. Here’s the mistake people make. Lifting heavy with no cardio….and EATING BAD!!!!! That’s when you look big. Because my meals have been super clean and consistent calorie intake, I’ve been able to stay lean WHILE bulking. Genius.
Yes, it’s not the easiest thing to do. Eat healthy all the time. Honestly, this program has you eating beyond healthy. You must make it a lifestyle. Weighing your food, counting your calories, making sure you are in the right %’s within your macros. (protein-fats-carbs) it’s a science people, and I get it. It’s not for everyone.
So far, this is working. It’s also helped me control my binging. Myfitnesspal has kept me feeling really accountable. I’m guessing that’s what I needed. If you want results…you’ve got to make changes in your life that must be permanent. Just like my friends who have had babies…I always tell them when they’re feeling like cows after giving birth, I say… “Hey, it took 10 months to get your body like that, it ain’t gonna take 1 month to take it off!” Ok, not like I’ve ever been preggo, but…its the same thing with women struggling with weight all their lives. It took 29 yrs for my body to look like this, it ain’t gonna take 2 wks to get it exactly to where I want it. It’s about being patient, consistency, and 75% diet & 25% fitness. Your head has GOT to be in it. Trust me, throwing in the towel, which I’ve done many times over, is much easier, but seriously chicks. Lets get it together. Enough already.
Here are some of this weeks FAVORITES!!!!

ONLY 118 CALORIES A SERVING. Serves 3
OHHH and of course, I can’t be forgetting to share my re-feed meal for this week. Lots of sushi last night along with a couple glasses of wine and beer.
How many calories over my max of 1460 you ask?..
Well….this meal took me 600 calories over my macro limit for the day. Taking me up to 2099.
Not bad though. Generally, refeed meals will be around 400-600 over your macros.
Yuuuuummmmmyyyyyy. I enjoyed it like such a fatty.
THIS WEEK IN WORKOUTS:
MONDAY: chest and tri’sTUESDAY: back & bi’sWEDNESDAY: legs & calvesTHURSDAY: shoulders & abs
KEEP UP THAT GREAT WORK!
Coming into the end of my 1st LIVE FIT TRAINER week, I am feeling amazing!!!! Today is actually day 5, but no workouts today, so I figured I’d give you guys the lowdown on how it’s been going. I am not used to having 3 rest days in a row, but you know what?….I ain’t complaining cuz I’ve got a hunch that, that won’t be the case coming up here reaaaaaal soon. Lol. I’m gonna sit here and enjoy those 3 damn rest days. I gotta keep remembering that…whatever I was doing before wasn’t giving me the exact results I was looking for, so I’ve vowed to do it right and strict to the plan.
Phase 1 came with loads of prepping fun! I am fortunate to really love cookin’ and spending time in the kitchen, so that was no biggie what’s so ever. I am no stranger to meal prep Mondays;)
The NUTRITION during this phase is absolute key. Because some would consider this the “bulking” phase (building muscle, & no cardio), the proportions of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that make up your daily macros is super important. I’ve come to find through my calculations and what my goals are, that my daily macros will looks like this: 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates, & 30% fats. Some don’t count their vegetable intake in their calorie counting, but I do. It counts for me.
MY FITNESS PAL is a great way to keep track of your caloric intake. At the end of your completed day, with food logged in, it will give you a % breakdown of macros. I’m totally obsessed with it. Also, it really does make you realize how wayyyyyyyyyy too many cals you were consuming before!!
1/2 c. Egg whites
1 c. Spinach with garlic
3 oz lean grass fed beef
2 Jamie Eason turkey meatloaf muffins
1/4 c. quinoa
1/4 of med. cooked sweet potatoe
Kale with tomatoes, cucumbers, cider vinegar, EVOO.
6 oz lean protein
3 small Jamie Eason pumpkin protein bars
Same as lunch:)
Lots of water.
Didn’t eat past 7:30 pm.
Today was CHEST& TRICEPS.
In the photo below are the exercises performed.
These were performed at 60 %strength capacity.
3 sets of 12 repetitions each.
Doesn’t seem like much, but homegirl was SORE!!!
Ohhhhh and guess what!!!
My supplements came in the mail from bodybuilding!
Below is my daily stack…. Read on babes.
I’m kind of new to the “counting my macros” thing, so it took me a few days, as you’ll see, to get them spot on to where they needed to be.
On this particular day, I had some calories to kill ( I love saying that) so I made my fave lil post workout recovery drink by All Pro Science. I love the blueberry ice flavor. Now with this LA heat, I crave this drink more than anything.
The great thing about this product, is that it’s made with all natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients, and no fake crap or sweeteners. It’s packed full of essential amino acids, and made with grass fed protein.
Although on the higher end with carbohydrates, it is low in sugar, and fulfills all that your body needs to recover after a grueling workout.
1 packet Blueberry Ice APS RECOVERY
1/2 cup organic blueberries
Juice of 1/2 a lemon
Add all ingredients into a vitamix or blender and enjoy as a summer slushie:)
Yeah!!!!!!! I passed the 1st day! Lol. So far, so good. I’ve been logging all exercises, supps, and caloric intake.
I can’t stress enough how IMPORTANT clean eating is to a program. Already, at day two, I woke up with some BOMB morning abs! Lol
ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN BITCHES!!! something we all struggle to get through out heads.
Day 2 , I woke up super sore from lifting, but it felt amazing. I’ve been really making sure that I stick to my schedules.

Although my protein, fat, carb ratio was great…I was lacking in some calories. Skipping calories in this case with this type of program is no bueno. Just as taking in too many calories is no bueno…. Neither is taking in too little.
REMEMBER: this phase is for building muscle. If you don’t get enough food, your body will feed on that lean muscle mass that you are trying to create.
Got lucky with day 4’s workout! I get to do it at home!!! Yeah!!!
SHOULDERS & ABS
Today is my last day of lifting before my 3 rest days. Well, Sunday…I’m actually sneaking in a bit of cardio..oops. I have to Zumba people c’mon! I’m super excited! I’ll be teaching a Zumba class at this years Lululemon’s SOULcal celebration warehouse sale at the LA convention center.
If you’re in LA, come check it out! This sale. Is gonna be RIDICULOUS!
Anyway….on today’s food log, I switched up a few things. I can’t get bored with my food, or I lose it. So, since going a little nutzo with my bodybuilding order of Cellucor Whey galore, I’ve been loving playing with all the new flavors of proteins. Today’s was a delicious Molten chocolate shake. Sooooo bomb!
An egg white frittata made with:
1/2 c egg whites
1/4 c cooked quinoa
Broccoli, spinach and zucchini
With a dollop of trader joes fat free sour cream and hot sauce.

Cellucor Whey in Molten Chocolate
2 tbsp fat free sour cream
1 tbsp chocolate PB2
1 c unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup cooked brown rice
6 oz chicken breast
2 Jamie Eason pumpkin protein bars
2 Jamie Eason turkey meatloaf muffins
Hard boiled egg whites
Brocolli and zucchini with 1/2 avocado
Here’s my “STACK”
I’ve still gotta get used to swallowin’ all these damn pills, but whatever.
S far I’m liking my “stack” but as I get a better feel of what I’m trying to achieve, then, I’ll have a better idea of what is really working, and what I really don’t need.
ALPHA LIPOIC ACID
SCIVATION AMINO ACIDS
I am not yet taking the Cellucor HD (fat burner) but will start it in phase 2.
Still figuring out if I like the C4 for my pre-workout or if I’m gonna switch to NO Extreme
Finally REST DAY!!!!
For the rest of the week, I will be on my best food behavior. I’m wondering who else out there is trying out this program and is in the first phase….. I’d like to compare notes:)
When Monday comes…I will be ready to tackle the next week in phase one feeling lean and strong. Meals prepped n all!
Here’s a calculation of what your rest day macros should look like.
I really hope this helps anyone who’s trying to get a jumpsart on strength training and weight loss. This regimented program has really opened my eyes! Hope y’all have a fab, fit, and beautiful weekend!
Please feel free to email me with any questions;)
Hey y’all!!! Hope everyone’s week is off to a fabulous start! Before I get into it…I must admit: 3 cheat meals last week. Omg. Ok..I’m done. Moving on:) Today is gonna be fab. Not too many plans. Seeing the dentist today…which, love him I swear…but I hate having to see him. Lol.
I spent Sunday with the folks so…sadly, I missed hitting up my usual Farmer’s Market, so I had to get my weekly dose of fresh flowers from Whole Foods. Aka: Super fucking expensive flower selection. This week, it’s white roses. Feeling like a virgin;)
Aren’t they perfect? And…they smell like heaven.
Ok, so I know it’s not #flexfriday but, I had to show off my new Reebok cross fit tank!
Of course I won’t be showing it off without the hard work that comes with that shit! Lol
Show your strength ladies! C’mon;)
Hit the gym early this A.M. to get in a sweaty cardio session in before having to get my mouth drilled.
I did 30 minutes of alternating resistance on the elliptical.
3 minutes @ resistance 5 / incline 9
2 minutes @ resistance 10 / incline 5
For 30 minutes
15 minutes on stairmaster on “fit test”
I planned to try one of these amazing 1000 calorie burning ass kickers this morning, but I ran outta time. I know.excuses…excuses.
Pretty gnarly right!? I found these on Pinterest, and had to share. I’m dying to give them a try and see which way I can stand more. Ha;)
Anyway….this week,it’s on. Who’s with me!!!???
You see. My problem is never a lack of motivation to work out, it’s more my diet. I do really well for a bit, then tend to throw it all out the window for a couple days. No bueno. All that work…and sometimes for nothing. What has improved, is my guilt and self punishment. I have gotten sooooo much better at controlling the binges, and refusing to feel guilty.
I’m babbling. Give this workout a try. If this is all you do all week, then be it. Remember…just move. You’re beating everyone on the couch;)
So, 10:00 A.M. Came damn quick. Ughhhhhhhh. Time for some really exciting dental work.
I have to get… Wait for it…. A CROWN!!!!! Ajhhhhhhhhh. Sick.
This is my amazing, genius dentist, Dr. Ourfalian.
Listen, I hate dental work as much as the next cry baby, but he just, absolutely makes the visit sooooo pleasant. He is very gentle, conservative & very honest. Everyone that I’ve recommended to him, has loved him.
I don’t think I have good teeth genes, so I’ve really got to keep with regular 6 month cleanings, as well as flossing after every meal. Do you guys really floss after every meal? I feel like a creep for only flossing once a day. Sometimes, I even forget to do that. Omg. So bad. I started to notice that my gums would bleed when I would floss sometimes…and, that my friends…is NOT THE BUSINESS! In doing some research, I came across this. VERY interesting. Sometimes, we forget how much bacteria can enter through our mouths. Read this bit, and you will be surprised.
I fu*%ing hate flossing, not gonna lie, but…THERE’S HOPE! My friend told me about these and I immediately stopped at Walgreens after my appt to buy em’
The rest of the day was free. (Yeayyyyyyyy) I got home & of course, I was starving. One problem….if I tried to eat anything that required chewing, I would chew off my tongue. So, I had extra cooked oatmeal with flax milk, chia seeds, raisins, mashed figs, and protein powder.
Oh, and a fudgesicle.lol.
Since I didn’t get to my 1000 cal burning workout (above), I thought maybe I would make it to a late night yoga class.
Yep….it’s now 7:30 p.m…..haven’t been able to get off the couch from so much mouth pain.
No more anesthesia. Haha.
Hey, getting a crown is not exactly pain free kids. Wow.
Instead….I cooked the rest of the day. Making dinner and meal prepping tomorrow’s packed lunch.
I hadn’t gone grocery shopping, but I pulled out a few fridge staples, And made something sooooo yummy for dinner.
LAUGHING COW LITE WEDGES
By far….one of the easiest dins-for-1 I’ve ever made. For a meal…Super low cal, andddddd soooo filling!
- 2 organic zucchinis (makes 4 boats)
- 2 Laughing Cow wedges (I love Garlic & Herb)
- 1 Lrg garlic clove (finely chopped)
- 2 shallots (finely sliced)
- Fresh cracked pepper and sea salt.
- Pre-heat oven 375 degrees.
- slice both zucchinis lengthwise.
- With a small spoon, scoop out the center.
- Add ½ a wedge of The Laughing Cow Garlic & Herb LIGHT cheese into each ½ of zucchini.
- Lightly sauté thinly sliced shallots and chopped garlic.
- Top stuffed boats with sauté mix.
- bake face up for 25 minutes.
4 boats= 190 calories!!! Amazing!
These are also great for party appetizers! The cheese wedges have so much great flavor that you don’t have to saturate them in sauce or loads of salt & spices.

This week in FITNESS GOALS!
Make your own..stick it on your fridge..set alarms…whatever you gotta do..JUST DO IT!
What are your goals this weeks?!! Sharing is caring;)
The Laughing Cow® provided me with product for this review. However, thoughts and opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the brand
Guess what! First day of summer OFFICIALLY begins on JUNE 21st!Ekkkkkkk! Yes…that is tomorrow. Lol. So, we need to get it together ladies!
I know…we all know what that means! It’s time for a new bikini, and for most of us, this is dreadful, including me. It seems like we spend all year trying to prep our bodies and minds for this very moment. Haha. It does. It sounds ridiculous, but it is what it is! If it means working out more throughout the year, and changing eating habits….it’s all good then. We’ve done good for our bodies. I can think of worse things we could be doing. Lol.
A we all know, to reach ultimate results with optimal health, you need a game plan, a goal to reach.
I always remind myself…”Paula, it took 29 years to have this body, it ain’t gonna take 2 months for that body to change” I tell myself that when I’m feeling doubt, or when I wanna just say “eff it,give me that damn ice cream!”
It’s time. It’s time to start making changes, and for the long haul. Btw..as I write this to you…I’m saying it to myself too;) Trust me, it’s hard for all of us sometimes. We are not robots. We have emotions, and sometimes those emotions lead to bad decision making. The key: To not beat yourself up about it. Stress is the root of all evil! That is why we’ve got this 89/20 rule. Beacause we can’t be perfect all the time!
Today, I’ve got a super exciting post for y’all! Dedicated to our summer bodies of course:) ( and hopefully continues after summer;) )
I’ve teamed up with my friends at The Laughing Cow to bring you some delicious and easy snack ideas and quick anywhere/anytime workouts ( brought to you by women’s health )to keep you on track and ready for summertime fun!
The 2 week calendar below will help direct you on how to get started! The Laughing Cow, along with some of my fave bloggers, Sarah Dussault, and Tina Haupert came up with all of these fantastic tips and ideas to make it easier on ya! It’s time to get our minds right!
For the next two weeks…. Follow these steps every day, to ensure success!
I’ve got some amazing workouts for you to try at home or at the gym. My favorite magazine, Women’s Health, is always either on my coffee table or at work. I am constantly following their quick but effective workouts, and I love to share them. Remember: If you use your time wisely with your workouts, you won’t need to spend 1 1/2 hrs at the gym. Trust me.
Below are some great examples of fat burning, muscle building, and HIIT.
When doing these workouts, and any workout really, keep in mind that, if it doesn’t challenge you, you MUST CHANGE IT UP. Always keep your body guessing. What this means…..really, 5 lb dumbbells. Um, you can do better than that… K, know what I mean;)
WOMEN’S HEALTH: The FASTEST way to lose 10 pounds!
WOMEN’S HEALTH: Get a bikini body-that ROCKS!
WOMEN’S HEALTH: A 15 minute arm workout- Armed for summer!
WOMEN’S HEALTH: The 15 AB workout!
LAST BUT NOT LEAST…..
LIFE CHANGING FITNESS: GPP fitness.
And of course, as we all know, but hate to admit….that ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN…
So, to add to your hectic life….brought to you by The Laughing Cow and myself, a few quick, easy, and yummy ASS snacks for you to stay on track, are these babies!
Snacking is how I live sometimes. In between meals and clients, I need a pick me up. My body needs to know that I haven’t neglected it, so remember to snack on something small in between meals to avoid:
#1: Not over-eating
#2: To avoid your body from storing fat ( if you go too long without eating while active, your body will think that you aren’t going to feed it, and will begin storing fat, or eating away muscle) no thanks.
#3: To not become ” HANGRY ” ( I apology see for what I said when I was hungry type attitude) lol
CHIPOTLE EGG SALAD ON NUT CRUSTS
A packet of these RAW wheat free crusts will set ya back $4.50 totally worth it. Gluten free, raw, and amazeballz!

Mix together, top over crust and your done. BOMB!
These are fantastic! Little savory bite sized salmon cakes;)
“SALMON CUCUMBER TOASTS”

This is the perfect snack. Balanced in fat, protein and carbs, your body will thank you. This is a great pre or post workout snack;)
If your not into fish, no bigs….you can use chicken breast too;)
Oh, and did I mention that 1 wedge of Laughing Cow is only 35 CALORIES!
Love that! Lots of summer parties and BBQs happening this summer so bust these out as a fresh appetizer! Yummmmmmmm
For you who have a gnarly sweet tooth, like me, I’ve got something for us!!!! I have to admit….I can’t have a meal without finishing up with a dessert;) with this sweet little bite, it satisfies that craving. I was over the moon when my Laughing Cow wedges got delivered and I saw this…. FREAKIN CINNAMON CREAM ummmm, are you kidding me!
Obsession. With only 45 calories a wedge, you can eat this with absolutely no guilt. This is lovely smeared over a cut up apple, or well, pretty much any fruit.
Right now…get ready to go BA-NA-NASSSSS!
CINNAMON CREAM BANANAS ROUNDS
These are a fave! Kids adore them, and adults freak out;) top with your favorite seeds, nuts, or even a bit of chocolate.
Here’s the easy steps:
2 bananas (cut rounds)
2-3 Cinnamon Cream Laughing Cow wedges
Shaved raw cacao (100%- the higher the % the higher in antioxidants)
In between 2 banana rounds, sheer a bit of the cinnamon cream and alternate with your toppings.
Serve chilled. So easy and delicious:)
Summer time, is the best time to eat clean and light, don’t you agree? It’s hot out, and
the last thing I want or crave during this time of year especially, is something heavy. Ugh. This is a great lunch idea. Now…for the vegetarians out there, clearly you won’t be using turkey breast, but….you could easily sub that out for some yummy sweet potato, beets, rotated carrots, or even seasoned tofu. Your call:) we all know, I love my protein, and by lunch time, I’m in serious need for something protein packed.
I wanted to try out some of these new Laughing Cow flavors, so I made three faux sushi rolls using the Light Creamy Swiss, Garden Vegetable, and the Chive & Onion wedges. Omggggggggg. So bomb! What I LOVE about these, is that that is all you need to add flavor. No need for mayo, or to OD on salt and pepper. Each wedge packs a mean punch of yummy flavor.
TURKEY & CHEESE “sushi” ROLL UPS
3 soy paper wraps
Finely chopped romaine
Organic herbed turkey breast
3 favorite Laughing Cow wedges.
3 of these roll ups for lunch, and you’re barely knocking on 200 calories! Whattttttt!
Lunch is packed. Loads of water…fruit…hummus…roll ups…cheese wedges.. Done n done.
For fun…. A healthy summer bubbly drink:)
Add your favorite alcohol for PARTY TIME! Lol
Listen…I’m not some health saint…I like a cool summer cocktail as much as the next chick, so if your gonna drink, make it AMAZING!
A squeeze of Meyer lemon
Your favorite kombucha or kevita probiotic drink
A shot of your favorite rum, tequila, gin, or vodka
Yeah! Now….Amigas, you got the knowledge, you’ve got the motivation, you’ve got the workouts, you’ve got the recipes, tips and ideas….what’s stopping you!? Stop saying…”I’ll start tomorrow” Start NOW. We do it together… Break outta your shell!!
Summer is HERE! You’re beautiful and your worth it. Remember that.
Well….it’s Monday. My day off. Sick as a dog. Ugh. I’ve been sick since Saturday when I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck. I am not one to try and heal holistically….. I love all that stuff, but truthfully…I need the whatever the hell is gonna cure me the fastest. This chick cannot get sick. Too much to do! I can rest when I’m dead;) lol. Ok, just kidding. I’m not that crazy, but I am not opposed to over-the-counter meds to cure the average flu-like symptoms. I use my vitamins and stuff ore for preventative measures:)
Last night I stayed the night at my folks house. You know how it is when you’re sick….there’s nothing better than Mom and Dad catering to your every sicky girl request. “Mom, can you bring me water?” “Mom, can you finish the laundry I brought:(?” Lol. Sad, but true. I am such a mommy/daddy girl still at almost 30 damn years old.
So when I woke up cozy at the rents house after probably 12 hrs of “passed the eff out” sleep, I felt sooo much better.
This is what crossed my mind…..
I don’t remember the last time someone brought me breakfast in bed….but God,that is a delight! Thanks Mami;) luckily mom had the day off, so we both snuggled and had breakfast in bed while watching Disappeared on A&E. You know, chick stuff.
was egg white and spinach scramble
And a side of homemade FLAX toast with sugar free preserves.
Oh, and not to forget….my coffee of course. I used my favorite almond milk. 30 calorie SILK frothed with a packet of NuNaturals stevia.
I really didn’t want to start feeling shitty today, so I took my favorite “any kinda sick” go to. THERAFLU.
I finally rolled my ass outta bed, gathered all my crap from moms and headed back home to good ol’ Sherman Oaks. Once I handled some calories and payed bills, I felt we’ll enough to hike Fryman Canyon for a hike with the pup. It wasn’t super hot out today, so I figured he could stand it, besides, mama carries loads of water for him. He drinks more than me. Tisk. Tisk.
I worked up a good sweat to the top. All uphill, and somehow my freshly washed hair, still in tact.
A gorgeous day out. I let willy off the leash, and he plopped down in the shade for a photo op;) as you all know, I get hungry at the first sign of physical exertion, so I made sure to pack a yummy PROBAR for when I got to the top.
Lunch was A-Ma-ZING!

(Purely my own opinion, I was not paid for this review)
I felt like a new person after lunch. This is why I love to eat every couple of hours. Small meals of course. My energy levels stay leveled. if I wait to long…one of two things happens. I feel totally fatigued….or I binge like a fool. So, I opt for the lighter meals, more often.
Since returning from my awesome blend retreat in Utah, you all know that I’ve become a proud advocate of GPP Fitness. I make sure to check their website every single day for my workouts, inspiration, questions I may have, etc.
…and you best believe I took my ass on to the gym. I felt we’ll enough. I am pushing through. Trust me, I know my body, I wouldn’t have done it if I was weak.
6 days of workouts with SUNDAYS OFF. I also include 3 days of intense/moderate cardio. ( 2 of those cardio days being ZUMBA)
If I can do this…
SO CAN YOU.
REMINDER TO ALL MY AMIGAS!
Do NOT feel intimidated at the gym. Weights are not only for men! I promise…once you get in there, and release that fear, you will become sooooo empowered!
I grabbed all the equipment I needed, found space in the aerobic room and began my workout.
HOLY HARD!!!! This workout all together was maybe 30 minutes long, but AS EFFECTIVE as being in the gym 1 hour 15 min. This is what interval training looks like. Get in.. Do the work… And get out.
My gymboss interval timer.
My new Ryka high top performance shoes.
A list of my GPP work for the day.
As I’m writing this….I roasted delicious veggies for dinner:)
Tossed in EVOO, garlic powder, salt & pepper, and Italian seasonings.
@ 375 for approx 40 minutes or longer if you like it more caramelized.
I arrived at the Fairmont Miramar hotel on Ocean dr, and made my was through the gorgeous grounds to the spa. They directed me to the rooftop where I would be taking my first ever Core Fusion class! Yes, on the rooftop, in the open air. Absolutely stunning 360 views. I may be able to do this everyday, well, if I could afford it
I arrived upstairs a bit early so, of course…snuck in a lil Gym selfie
Btw… Thanks CHOBANI & OGIO for my sweet ass new gym bag. I’m totally obsessed!
Since I was 30 min early, I did a quick bi & tri workout before heading out to the patio for my 5:10 pm class.
The sun was out, but it wasn’t too hot. Just right. I’ve never taken a workout class that required sunglasses, but hell, I’ll roll with it. Especially if you throw in a DJ to pump out jams while you work out! I’ve tried every kind of work workout you could imagine, but never a Core Fusion class.
The premise of the class focuses on core strength to create the ultimate full body workout. In this class we only used weights, but it’s ever changing. You may find yourself using weights, balls, bands, and your own body weight as resistance. The key to this regimen is the raise the heart rate to a point where you will continue to burn calories long after the class is Done.
A total of one hour, and trust me, by the end of it you are shakin’ in your boots! I was already super sore from my GPP workouts this past weekend, so I was dying.
After class, I headed down to the courtyard for the event. I was very impressed at how well the event was organized.
We received some pretty fab gift bags with loads of goodies. Who doesn’t love swag!??? Thanks to everyone who hooked it up;) I was so happy to see the line up of contributors and vendors for this event as well. First off, one being one of my favorite alcohol lines “VEEV” One of the owners of the company happens to be a client of the salon, and couldn’t be sweeter, so I am happy to support. I’m not a huge hard alcohol lover, but this new line has got me hooked. I mean, not like alcoholic hooked, but you know what I mean. Lol.
This company is based on organic, all natural ingredients. Most importantly being the world’s FIRST acai spirit with 1% of all proceeds going to rainforest preservation and environmental initiatives. This ish is a game changer.
I was stoked to try their new line of VitaFrute super fruit cocktails. Premixed. All ya gotta do is pour over ice and serve. Holy dangerously DELICIOUS!
These babes were hooking this chick up with some refreshing Vita Coco coconut water.
I’m not gonna lie….I think coconut water taste like sweat…maybe like breast milk.. Hmm, either way, not a fan. I told them that, and they assured me that if I tried the mango/ peach flavor combo, I would rethink my gross comment. Welp…..what can I say…I was like dayyyyyyyyummmm. sooo yummy! A little too much sugar content for me, but ultra hydrating and not gross AT ALL! You know…..coconut water happens to be the BEST hangover cure…just sayin’
I threw a couple in my swag bag and headed to my target!
“The Next Fitness Star” finalist Kit Rich…
When Women’s Health Magazine contacted me about seeing if I was interested in speaking with one of the Next Fitness Stars, Kit Rich, I jumped at the opportunity! This is going to be huge y’all! It’s about time we developed a competition like this. After I’m sure, a ridiculous number of contestants signed up, auditioned, and sent videos, only five finalist were chosen. Once chosen will be flown to New York City where they will star in a video short showcasing their workout and participate in a photo shoot to appear on the “flip” cover of the July/August issue of Women’s Health. Videos will be posted online for readers and fans to vote on their favorite finalist and also sent to our celebrity panel to judge their top finalist. The overall winner will be selected based on a combination of reader/fan votes and celeb judge votes.
The winner will:
*Star in 4-6 Women’s Health fitness DVDs to be sold nationwide
*Star in an editorial feature in Women’s Health in Jan/Feb 2014 issue
*Have winning workout added to class lineup at a major health club
*Act as the face/star of the DVD series in all promotional materials — in book advertisements, online & social media and more
*Be treated like the new star they are with a full marketing strategy prepared and executed by Rodale
I was excited for the chance to sit and chat with her, because in doing my research I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I knew that she was pilates based, had a big celebrity clientele, and was highly sought after, but, after what seemed like,” just a couple of Amigas chattin’”, I realized, there was much more to her and her vision of what’s to come in fitness.
This girl couldn’t have been more sweet or real. She was on point and didn’t skip a bit. I like that. She answered all of my questions with no hesitation and with complete confidence in the direction she was going. I sat down with her, and the first thing she says to me is ” It’s so great to me you, From Fries to Fit huh?, tell me a bit about you and where that came from?!” I mean, I love her! I really appreciated that, she really made me feel like there was absolutely nothing else she’d rather be doing at that moment then talking to me. Trust me, there was craziness going on around us, so it was a bit loud;)
This girl is headed to the TOP! She has an amazing sense of self and body awareness. In speaking to her, I realized we had a lot in common. Actually, thinking about it now, a lot of women will be able to relate to her.
How long have you been in the Fitness/ Pilates industry, and how did you get into it?
My story was not some crazy ” I used to be so fat, now I’m so skinny” story. My story started 9 years ago, very humbly, with a bad case of body dysmorphic disorder, and wanting nothing more in life but to gain a better sense of my body and myself. I started taking some Pilates classes, getting better and better, and one days, things just clicked for me. I knew that this was what I needed to be doing. Fitness was gonna be my life and career. I got certified and began teaching classes, and quickly gained a super loyal clientele. Now I mostly focus on teaching privately.
What drives you as a trainer? How do you find the motivation?
Look, to me, it’s not just about ” get fit, loose weight, work, work” that’s all great, but.. Jillian Michaels has that market on tap. My main focus, with what I do with my clients, and what I’m trying to get out there, is this:
How did we get ourselves here?
Why did we allow ourselves to work for fitness rather than making fitness work for us?
I think it’s about self awareness, using the tools that each one of us has, but doesn’t always use, and using those internal tools to create motivation and balance in workouts, and in life. The less you stress, the more you can feel your best. I create workouts that are effective, target your entire body, and help you find your own motivational tools to want to push yourself to do it better next time.
Did you ever expect to be “The Next Fitness Star” finalist “?
I know! Crazy, right!? You know, 3 years ago, I auditioned on Oprah’s OWN network casting for “The Next TV Star” and made it to the top 20, but didn’t make it to the top. It must have been meant to be that now, we are sitting here, and I’m in the top 5 for “The Next Fitness Star” I feel honored, this is where I should be.
Kit, tell us…..any secret fat burning tips?
Really, it’s no secret at all. — If your diet contains less energy than your body expends, you will lose weight. In other words, It’s about what you are putting in your body and how much of it, in relation to how much you are physically working your body to expend the calories you just consumed. I believe in 80/20. Moderation is key, and we must work, everyday, to ensure that balance stays in tact. Self control and motivation will drive you to that lifestyle.
What can we expect from Kit Rich in the future? Where do you see yourself and company in the next 5-10 years?
It’s just the beginning, and I couldn’t be more excited! I see books, DVD’s, camps, shows. All of it. I’m here to change the way we see fitness and ourselves. I want to help people look their best while becoming the best they can be inside. The future is bright, that’s for sure!
When I finished my interview, I spotted these cute gals with some amazing workout gear I had never seen before. As I went through their rack of super cute digs, I chatted with the girls to get a bit of background on Strut This fitness wear. First of all, it’s a mother-daughter run and owned business, which I love. I’m all about supporting local and small businesses, you know that. Especially, if I’m loving their product.
The material is to die for, and super soft. You can really tell, they didn’t cut corners here.
I couldn’t leave of course, without trying out their super cute capris and tops, so I purchased a few things to take home and review. Please be on the lookout for my review on Strut This.
Listen, I know, who doesn’t love Lululemon, but on the real, they are just sooooo expensive. Ugh. I was seriously looking for something new and fresh that I could sport in Zumba, hiking, traveling, and hardcore gym workouts, while NOT Breaking the bank.

Cant wait to share this coming weekend’s activities!
For now, let me introduce you to my Monday;)
Maybe one of my favorite days of the week… I started off having a wonderful mbreakfast outdoors at Aroma tea and coffee, located in quaint Tujunga village, Studio City. To my honestly, there is nothing better than having a really great meal while sitting outside. I take people watching verrrrrrry seriously.
The menu is VAST, I opted for the lighter fare. I wanted everything that damn place had to offer, an AMAZING clean menu. I went for a powerhouse breakfast that consisted of…tender charbroiled chicken breast, fluffy egg whites, with a side of 9 grain toast, and freaks fruit. It was heaven on a platttttttta!
Enjoyed an iced coffee with unsweetened almond milk, and a bit of stevia. Most restaurants only have Splenda as an alternative, but yes, I DO carry around a lil dropper bottle of stevia with me…in my purse…everywhere that I go. Don’t judge. I ate that breakfast like it was my J.O.B. I put in werrrrk. Yum-MY!
Oh, and please do excuse my tired eyes, apparently didn’t realized I was gonna be in the “food” shot. Lol
Meet Diego…. The bulldog of all bulldogs. Such a cutie;) he’s ready for Monday Funday! For now, he’s just tied up to my chair, sniffin around, lookin’ allllll cute n’ shit. Lol;)
And so we we drove…..
Ended up at Malibu State Park for a late morning hike. It was a stunning view, although, I didn’t expect it to be that dry out. I still think we went the wrong way. Someone told me I should have seen a creek and swim hole…yeah, never once saw a drop of water, and Diego’s paws were getting RAW from the heat. Last thing on earth you want happening…. A bulldog overheating. Probably a bad idea seeing that it was 105 degrees out. Dumbass.com. Poor baby was seeking shelter under trees for signs of shade. After 15 min we turned around, and said ” I think it’s time for the beach.”
Here comes the babe….
Headed north on the PCH, looking for a signs of “dog beach”, which technically…there are none. S annoying. We ended up at Leo Carrillo. Apparently, the further north you travel up the coast, the more lenient on dogs being allowed onto the sand. Who knew….
I wish willy could’ve been there, but he stayed at my parents house, cuz I knew I was leaving outta town, and wouldn’t have been able to drop him off any other day. ( they don’t live around the corner, you see..) SADFACE. He would have loved it. I OWE him:)
It was a bit windy, but sunny and perfect. The waves, super cute in size. Actually we were able to catch some kids RIPPING! love watching surfers. The running around didn’t stop there, oh yes, the fun continued;) met up with some friends at The Parlor in Hollywood for some sports watchin’ and margarita drinkin’;) skinny of course;)
Me and my Amiga.. Dianne, head colorist at Sassoon. So glad she’s back in LA!
Early bday celebrations! Her Birthday is in 2 days! Yeayyyyyyy
Lunch was the BOMB! you wouldn’t think that a sports bar would have such quality food, but guess what…. My god. This salad was OUTRAGEOUS. Steak, greens, grilled veggies, pine nuts, and goat cheese. Um..byeeeee.
Therest of Monday night was suer mellow. The sun tends to really wear me out. I went home early to catch up on some work, and practically passed out on the couch. Exhausted:)
So here we are…it’s Tuesday night, and I’ve got some fantastic news!
I took Sandy’s super packed ZUMBA class tonight, and to all of our surprise……
Studio City Lululemon suprised her at the end of class with ” WILL YOU BE OUR AMBASSADOR!???? WTF!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh. We were all freaked out, amazed, happy, emotional, all of it.
She is an absolute mentor, and inspires me everyday, as well as soooo many others. What an honor! We love you Sandy! W were all sweaty, and disgusting…crying all over the place, lol. Such chicks! Get ready for SCFITNESS to come with it!
Tonight’s class was on FIRE! 35 of us dancing our booties off, and I swear to you, I’ve NEVER sweat that much in my life. Literally, my soaked ponytail was whipping sweat onto everyone behind me. Ugh, I’m sorry girls. Good thing, was we were all that way. Lol.
Sweaty SELFIE time!
My legs are now jello, I need a serious shower, and I gotta get some inspiration for a new song and dance for my A.M. Class tomorrow…..
I’m thinking a lil’ Daddy Yankee “Limbo”… What do y’all think? Such a fun song! Time to get some rest friends!
QUESTION OF THE DAY:
What are your WORKOUT GOALS for next week?
(psssst….Write them down…I swear it helps;)
Hey guys! Hope you all had an amazing day! It wasnt too crazy at work, so I was able to sneak and get this post together:) I swear I just get SOOOO excited to share stuff with you all! I’ve got some exiting workout tips in this one, so get ready!!! First, let me start off with last night’s din din. Ya’ll know I’ve been into rolls lately, give me anything, and I’ll make a damn sushi roll out of it! lol.
Super easy, I just literally grabbed anything I could find in my fridge to stuff it with.
In this case…
1 soy paper
1 tbsp Fromage Blanc
1 tbsp Canned pumpkin
1 tsp Parma vegan parmesan
1 slice turkey bacon
Roasted veggies (I used leftover onion, cauliflower, zuchinni)
siracha (to taste)
Roll it up…… and dinner is served.
I had to miss my ritual of Tuesday night Zumba unfortunately, cuz I had to do a housecall. womp wommmmmmp, but I made sure to go to sleep early, and get a goodnight’s rest.
This morning was a KILLER FASTED CARDIO SESH.
I literally opened my eyes, put on my gym clothes still half asleep (made sure it was early enough for my brain to not quite comprehend what was happening) I headed straight to the gym. It was 5:30 a.m. HELL YESSSS.
OK, so here is the latest with my workouts… 2x a week, I am trying to work in a fasted cardio session in the early A.M. .I mean, with NOTHING in my belly. Just water. There is some controversy to this method, and that is precisely why I am trying it…to be able to tell you all if it’s even worth it.
This morning was 45 minutes of elliptical intervals. I was surprised at how much energy I had, especially with no food inside my tummy. Kinda felt like a beast. Ugh love when that happens.Don’t know bout ya’ll, but…. I’m tryin’ to get ready for bikini season!

Ok, enough with the eats…Back to fitness. It’s now 4:00 p.m. and I’ve got abs on the mind;) I’ve been doing some research online trying to find some inspiration for upcoming gym days, and I’m SOOO STOKED, because, #1: I found my new FAVORITE core move, #2: I’ve become Jillian Michaels obsessed, and #3: I am now gonna become that creep who’s dancing on the treadmill at 5:30 a.m. at the gym. That’s right chicks. No shame. Whatever makes me sweat, and shows me results, I’m gonna do.
I found this during my daily bloglovin reads. Popsugar.
Get ready, this one’s a doooooozy!
3 sets of 10!
It’s a challenging move that truly pays off. You use the abs as you pull the knees to your chest, and as you lower the legs back down, the abs work to keep the torso stable. Plus, just hanging from the bar works the arms and upper back quite nicely.
Start by hanging on a pull-up bar with palms facing out, or use the hand grips on the cable-pulley machine. Do use a box if you need help reaching the bar. Pull your shoulder blades down your back to keep your shoulders away from your ears. You will be working your lats to keep your scapulae (shoulder blades) stable.
Exhale, pulling your abs to your spine as you raise your knees to your chest. Tuck your pelvis under, rounding your low back, to ensure the low abs are working more than the mighty hip flexors.
Lower the legs down slowly and return to the starting position. Do keep your abs engaged to prevent your legs from swinging behind you.
To prevent momentum from assisting the leg raise, pause in the starting position for a moment before beginning the next rep.
Do three sets of 10 to 12 reps.
Are you a fan of hanging knee tucks?
