You may not know there a variety of preservatives and additives found in commercial dog foods. Also, they may not provide your dog enough nutrients. Sure, you will have to take extra time to make homemade dog food. But, this way allows you to give your dog both healthy and tasty meals. There are two main ways when it comes to preparing daily meals: cooked or raw. Let’s take a look at this post to learn how to make dog food by yourself.
Understand Dog nutrition
Determine the essential nutrients your dog needs
Your digestive system is different from your dog’s digestive system. So, it’s important to tailor the balance of ingredients in homemade dog food in order to suit your dog’s special needs. There are many things you need to keep in mind when cooking for your dog. First, the dog food needs to contain protein at least half of his diet. This ensures to give him the nutrients and minerals he needs to be healthy and strong. There are some acceptable sources of protein you can feed your dog such as beef, chicken, turkey, fish, and lamb. In addition, you can also give him eggs and vegetables. Some dog foods you just should feed your dog a few times a week such as a kidney or liver. You can give your dog grains, green vegetables, and root, but make sure they are cooked.
It’s best to consult your vet about supplements you should buy. Make sure you give your dog enough calcium so that he won’t get bone injuries when growing.
Feed your dog raw or cooked meat?
Some pet owners think that raw meat is better than cooked meat for dogs. They think these meats can’t make humans sick from eating raw steak. But, some others think it will be a safer choice when you choose cooked meat. A raw meat diet can provide your dog necessary calcium as well as other nutrients. It’s essential to ask your vet once you want to get more information the type of meat you should feed your dog.
Prepare Cooked Dog Food
Cook 2.5 cups meat
To do this, you have to use ground beef, lamb, turkey, chicken, or other types of meat your pet likes. You can cook it by boiling, frying, sautéing, baking, or otherwise heat it. It will better if you add a small amount of organ meat. By this way, your dog will receive the vitamins he needs. You can use olive oil free. But, remember to keep meat from sticking to the pans or pots.
Use 2 cups of cooked starch
You can use white or brown rice, barley, oatmeal, or cooked pasta. In order to make your dog digest easily, you should cook the starch a few minutes.
Cook 1.25 cups produce
You have to use fresh or frozen fruit such as squash, green beans, spinach, broccoli, carrots, berries, bananas, or peas. After boiling them, you need to transfer them to a blender in order to smooth them. Most importantly, these vegetables need to be completely smooth before feeding your dog.
It’s important to add your dog a lot of calcium. They aim to build healthy bones. It’s best to add them to your dog’s daily diet. First, you need 1/2 teaspoon crushed eggshells that you can find at pet stores.
Mix the ingredients
Place the starch, meat, calcium supplement, as well as pureed vegetables in a large mixing bowl. After stirring this mixture, you need to divide it into serving-sized portions.
Prepare Raw Dog Food
Purchase raw meat
We recommend you to buy the following types of raw meat at your grocery store. They include Chicken without bones, pork meat, head, bones, and tail, as well as cow meat or calf meat, lamb meat, heads.
Prepare the extras
Your dog may need raw meat that can be able to provide him other flavorful sources of vitamins as well as minerals. So, consider feeding him heart, liver, and tripe. In addition, you can also give him whole eggs, tinned as well as whole fresh fish.
Add greens to your dog’s diet
Your dog can eat a raw food diet from everything he needs from meat. But, it will be better if you add some vegetables to his diet. This is a good way to add variety. There are many vegetables you can puree in the blender such as carrots, parsnips, collards, and spinach. In addition, your dog also likes eating pears, apples, as well as other fruits.
Serve the raw meal
It’s important to fill the dog bowl with the right amount of food according to your dog’s weight. Remember to feed him raw meat with a few extras. You should also add a dollop of vegetables or fruit. Don’t forget to store leftover meat in the refrigerator.
In addition to good dog foods, there is also a wide range of harmful dog foods as chocolate, raisins, dairy products, nuts, rhubarb leaves, potatoes, onion, onion powder, tomatoes, tea or coffee. It’s important to visit your vet for special dietary needs before you make homemade dog foods. Also, you shouldn’t feed your dog nightshades such as bell peppers and eggplants. Your dog can’t be able to digest these foods. Although you feed your dog with a small amount of these foods, they still can be dangerous for him.
Fresh Friday here at From Fries To Fit!
Although todays post is dedicated to my vegans…there’s no doubt that ALL vegans, carnivores, and vegetarians alike would go batshit over the beautifully crafted food at The Gadarene Swine. The VEGAN sister restaurant to Scratch BarLA, in which chef Phillip Frankland Lee offers a complicated, artistic but perfectly paired array of mostly animal fats & proteins. My kinda thing. FOR SURE. The Gadarene Swine is the OPPOSITE. Ode to the Vegetable! (without skimping on the flavor of course!) Have you ever heard of a meat eating chef opening up a vegan spot? Yeah, me neither. Well, when I caught wind of chef Lee’s “no animal, all vegan” new venture here in Studio City, I thought, “hmmm this could be perfect!”
Listen, I’m no vegan, and clearly, he ain’t either honey, but as a food lover…foodie…whatever you want to call it, I can appreciate the art and tastes of all cuisines. The “Valley” has been on the way up in restaurant culture. The fact that I don’t have to shlep back to Downtown or Hollywood to have a delicious and interesting meal, makes me fuckin’ jump for joy! So, when my brother’s GF, Sarah, a veggie aficionado, came into town from Vancouver, I knew this was going to rock her world.
Sarah, Mom, & I walk in, and are immediately drawn to the beautiful, rustic garden patio. Wood, plants, and succulents everywhere. A mini oasis if you will. Let me make something clear here…this isn’t your typical “Veggie Grill” experience. This is fine dining babes. With that said… expect fine dining prices.
As we cozied up with our Pinot’s, we selected various dishes from the A La Carte menu. Other menu options include: 3 different chefs choice tasting menus, with option of wine pairing. So fancy for the “valley”right?!. Haha. Get into it people. It’s an experience, ok?! The staff was very nice. Each dish explained, and service was above par.
First up…Olive Stuffed Olives…. Holy, BEST THING I EVER, SO CAREFULLY PUT in my MOUTH!!!! Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside without being greasy. Made with a touch of honey.
Each presentation better than the next. Homemade, lightly toasted sourdough alongside crushed tomato oil with balsamic glaze. This was so delicious! So full of flavor. I mean…it’s in a nest for god’s sake.
Ok, here’s where it gets really fabulous. Look at those colors! This, ladies & gents, is a multi-colored blackened cauliflower, over a bed of creamed cauliflower, topped with dehydrated cauliflower chips & chopped pistachios. O.M.GEEEEEEEE! Loaded inside a beautiful clay bowl, the display itself makes you NOT want to share. Chef Lee somehow manages to separate the flavors of the same vegetable through different textures and seasonings. FAVE!
Ok, mind you…I’m not eating all of this alone. Lol. Between 3 of us, we shared everything. Here is a shot of our next dishes up.
Dirty rice and Hand torn pasta with shaved onions. Both incredibly flavorful! The pasta was done al dente with pureed tomato sauce filled with great texture derived from capers, fresh greens, shaved onion and even, a hint of sweetness from a lil fruit. Perhaps it was pineapple. Not sure, but it definitely held up to, even some of the best pasta I had in Italy recently. The crispy rice was incredible. Brown rice flavored with nori, filled with mushrooms, squash, crispy onions, shaved carrots, avocado… etc. Honestly one of the best vegetarian/vegan meals I have ever had. I know ya’ll, bold statement, but I felt fresh, not heavy. Not one bite of tempeh, tofu..none of that. Everything centered around the “vegetable”.
In that bigger piece of heavy & beautiful pottery, is roasted mushrooms over burnt mashed sweet potato. Woohoooo!
Heres a close up. Beautifully dressed with a hint of acidity, the flavors pop in your mouth, & you really hone in on all the smoky flavor of the roast. With a mix of different mushrooms, fresh peas, greens, and a few crunchy nori chips, it all comes together in a big bowl of “Bitch, taste thissss!!!”
We had a wonderful experience here. The food… fresh, local, organic. Thanks The Gadarene Swine!
Oh heyyyyooooo!!!! Well, well, well….look who’s back!!! Oh boy…where do I EVEN start? So, here it goes. After a longgggg (over a year:/) hiatus…I’m happy to say, From Fries To Fit has finally made a return. Lol. I’m not gonna sit here and bore you with everything that’s gone on within this past year that I haven’t been writing, but I will say…life keeps you on your toes, I mean…life has flipped upside down, and now, I’m returning to find a very happy balance. That is, in life, love, and health.
I no longer obsess or have anxiety over being in perfect shape, counting every calorie, or bingeing. Every lil bit of progress that I’ve made this past year has made my quality of life so much better. Who cares if you fluctuate a few pounds. That’s life. So whatever. With that being said… My posts starting now, will be more focused on what I truly enjoy…and that is cooking, family, travel, healthy living, style, decor, and entertaining. Not constant posts about training and fitness. To. Be honest, that just ended up sending me into a whirlwind of constantly trying to keep up.
So, bare with me y’all. I will VERY soon be updating the site with a new look. If you all don’t yet follow me on instagram as @fromfriestofit…do so now puleazzzeeee.
In more recent news, lol….I now have short hair. Well…it was short. Now, I’m all…”long hair, don’t care!” I’m growing it. Woohoo. It’s finally past the awkward stage. Girls, you know what I mean by this. Color wise…still ombre. Honestly, it may be a bit 2013, but IDGAF. It’s low maintenance and I’m kinda feelin’ it. If you’re looking for a great colorist in LA, see my girl Christina at Román Salon.
Welp…there they are. My favorite peeps. Been very fortunate to be spending a lot more time hangin’ with my cute lil fam. Oh look…I’m drinking a margarita…what a surprise. Lol. Here we are enjoying a vegan night out ( brothers’ a veg.) at Gracias Madre in LA. I love this pic because we rarely go out to eat as a family. We are much more, at home BBQ type folks, but I gotta tell ya…as a non vegan, I realllly enjoyed the food! The restaurant is STUNNING, the bar is really rustic looking with a very open feel. The outdoor space is…I mean, forget it. Cozy, inviting, and a bit old Mexico style. I highly recommend it. Even just for the chips, salsa, and a jalapeño margarita with your girls;)
My other loves….these boys. Been spending a bit of time, as of lately, traveling back n forth from the Bay Area visiting my man (we switch off every 12 days lol) and his big, bear faced rot, Sonny. Swooooon. (You all know my crazy poodle mix, Wilbur already<3) Ok, yes. It’s long distance, but not by far. Yes, it’s hard, but we make it work… And, yes, crazy and for each other.;) Anyway…love this pic. Typical Sunday at the parental unit, eating lots of Argentinian BBQ meat and chorizo. Das right.
Since I’ve seen you last on FF2F…I’ve picked up a new hobby. Yep. So into it. I mean…I haven’t yet played an actual game lmao…but working on my swing like a profeshhhh. With a coach n’ all. Say what you will now betches, soon enough…I’ll be Tiger Woods’n circles around your asses. Lol. In the sun, beer in hand, and someone else carrying my clubs. Byeeee. Wouldn’t thaaaaat be niceeeee!? I figured this sport, and yes, I consider it a sport…not just a game, would be a nice switch up from my typical crazy workouts, or more extreme sports I’ve played. It’s all about enjoying the outdoors and not being so hard on my body.
Within the past year…all my besties are now preggo, married, or engaged. Lol. Lots of showers of all sorts to plan. Can’t wait to share pics and ideas!
Probably the most influential part of this year, was this woman right here. My beautiful grandmother who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. After 30 years of us living in the states, and her in Argentina…we were finally able to get her here to spend the rest of her life with us, her family. Only positive and happy vibes from here on out…and a mammogram ASAP. I don’t care if I’m only 31. Early detection is key babes.
As I start this new chapter of From Fries To Fit, I want to thank you all for letting me share a piece of me with you. I’m feeling really good about this, and I can’t wait to share some great recipes, entertaining & decor ideas, style and beauty inspiration…
Hey guys! Hope everyone enjoyed a fabulous weekend off! I had a super relaxing and fun weekend. Well, full of errands, but also full of fam and friends time:) got a couple if really great workouts in as well. That always makes me feel amazing. Sunday we did the Santa Monica Stairs, and today, I took a great barre class at Exhale in the gorgeous Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. Nice switch up from Sundays cardio. We smashed those stairs though, for real. My calves were begging for mercy in Barre today! Lol.
Anyway, I I wanted to share with y’all a little review I did on some really fab new wines from Brancott Estate. I was asked to review them, #1: cuz you know this chick lovessss her vino, and #2: cuz it’s totally up all our alleys!!!
20% lighter in calories!!!!
Y’all know I love to find new and great ways to still enjoy these treats without being a cow, so I thought it would be appropriate, right!?!?
LOW CALORIE WINE!?
Jeeeeezzzzuzzzzzz! Faaaakkkkk! Sign me up.
Let me brake it down…
* Compared with Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2012 & Pinot Grigio 2012. Per 5 fl. oz. serving of Brancott Estate Flight Song Sauvignon Blanc / Pinot Grigio. Average Analysis: Calories 88/87, Carbohydrates 4.5g/5.2g, Protein Og/Og, Fat Og/Og
Now…again, I have to tell you this, cuz I’m profeshhhhhh, but seriously, always bring you my true opinion.
(I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Millennial Central for Brancott Estate Wines. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.)
These wines are sooo perfect for this beautiful sunny weather we are having! They are not heavy on the alcohol, so you will not feel like a sack of rocks, but also very light and crisp. For me…there is nothing light a glass of chilled white in the warm weather!
The first one I tried from my lil swag bag, was the Brancott Pinot Grigio.
Clearly, this is a fun wine to enjoy with a girlfriend! I mean, you could also enjoy with the boyfriend..with fam…or at home alone like a creep too. Lol. I headed to my friend Jule’s house for some snacks and give this a go. We are both into clean eating and lighter fare, so this was our girls evening!
* RAW WALNUTS
Ook, so…the bottle seemed to have gone wayyyyy to fast. It was a warm night in the valley, and it was just what the doc ordered. Super crisp with a nice clean finish. It was delectable! Absolutely nothing heavy about this wine at all!
In fact, Jules was even asking about getting a case for an upcoming party. What I loved, was that there was nothing complicated about it. Really can be paired with a lot! This particular Pinot Grigio captures wonderful floral notes, ripe apple and nashi pear & pure freshness. Full of taste and lighter in calories. (A freakin bonus!)
The other gem that I tried was baby! The Sauvignon Blanc.
Now this one…now this one was a family affair! We all had a bit with our Easter Argentinian BBQ;)
Dad was “Grill Master” of course, and he neverrrrr lets down!
Dinner consisted of:
**ENTRAÑA (skirt steak)
**SALAD (traditional oil/vinegar)
YEP. That could could NOT get anymore Argentinian!
The Sauvignon Blanc is definitely a a bit more full-flavored. Still very crisp but also a smooth finish. For upcoming info check into their facebook page and stay in the know!
I love this cute quote;)
You can find these great wines at most groceries stores and I highly recommend you try at least one. At a great price point, it’s definitely a Cali come up!
Happy Monday babes!!!
Happy hump day beauties!!!! Today’s post is short but sweet:) I’ve got a really SUPER DUPER EASY recipe for a pre-workout 90 calorie snack idea! for me, because I tend to workout so early in the morning, I consider this 1/2 of my breakfast. I brake up my breakfast into pre-workout & post-workout.
For example what I did this morning.
FASTED CARDIO WITH CELLUCOR HD powder.
1 1/2 BANANA PROTEIN COOKIES BEFORE WEIGHT TRAINING (killed shoulders and abs)
POST WORKOUT : 6 EGG WHITES.
This is the perfect balance or carbs for energy before lifting and protein post training.
- 2 very ripe mashed bananas (I thawed previously frozen ones)
- 1½ cup quick cooking oats or traditional. (either is fine)
- 2 scoops protein powder. (I used 1 scoop of About Time Banana Creme, and 1 scoop of Isopure 0-carb Vanilla)
- (optional: A small handful chopped walnuts and raisins)
- Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mix rolled oats and protein powder well.
- Mash your two bananas, and add to dry mix. Mixing and mashing very well.
- Optional: Fold in chopped walnuts or raisins. (this will increase macros a slight bit per serving. Fat and sugar content)
The only problem with these….it’s hard to just have one!!!!!! Lol.
I’m so into these, that I now have a hoarders freezer full of extra ripe bananas. No. Joke. Go ahead, print it out and share with fam and friends:)
I am a huge believer in MORNING FITNESS! This silly selfie, like allll my gym selfies, are taken between 5 AM- 7 AM. YEP. I’ve always preached it. The best part about early morning workouts, your body still practically has no idea what the fuck is going on, so you could pretty much trick it into doing anything! lol. The second best thing, is that, you realllly set the tone for the rest of your day. When you start your day on the right foot, on the “fit” foot, you are less likely to binge throughout the day.
I promise you that.
Check this out…. See if you can give yourself 1 WEEKto try and wake up just a bit earlier and and get in a morning workout!
Here are a few tips to help jump start you!

Hello my sweet friends!!!! Well…it’s 87 degrees here in LA, I just got home from the gym, and I thought….shit. I need to holla for the big LOVE day;) I gotta tell ya…I’ve not a huge Valentine’s Day freak, but I do appreciate random acts of sweetness ! I do believe these acts should be practiced on most days…not just because someone decided to make it a holiday. Lol
I’ve been so busy lately, that I must admit my posting and cooking has been lacking to say the least. Unfortunately my meals have been very boring. ( back on that mealprep) You know what that means… Chicken breast..brocolli..sweet potato. Lol. I’m not gonna bore you with that. Lol. But, FORTUNATELY,I did say I was gonna get it back after the holidays, didn’t I!? 😉

This past weekend we took them to Sequoia National Park. This place is stunning! I told them to get geared up for snow……but they had no idea what I meant. Lol
Here we are…before the storm..chains…and almost getting stuck on the mountain. No bigs. Happy as pigs in shit.
Oh you know, just tryin to get a bit creative with the shots. Lol.
We jumped in the car after this stop, and that’s when shit got real.
Did I mention…..THEY’VE NEVER SEEN SNOW!? We were staying at the Wuksachi Lodge, in the heart of Sequoia.
Finally, 4.5 hrs of driving…a bit of car sickness, and a lil nap…we arrived!
Please take notice of the gear they’ve got on. Hahahahaa. I just love them…they fuckin showed up in jeans, and converse!!!!! lol. What r ya gonna do!.
I think they thought, “oh, we’ll see some snow capped trees, see a little snow on the ground…nothin major..” Bahahahahaha.
Reality check y’all. Snow to your KNEES in some parts ! My poor cousins….2 pairs of socks…then wrapped their feet in plastic bags…then put their converse on ! Lol
I haven’t see this much snow in a reallllllly long time! It was soooooo beautiful. I highly recommend this weekend trip to all of you. especially if you live in LA, where it always feels like summer
The lodge was stunning and our room had huge windows where we could look our and have amazing views of those beautiful trees. If I wasn’t sledding outside or eating snow, I was doing this right herrrrrrrrrrrrr!
A glass of red in front of the fire.
Quite possibly one of my favorite things to do on this earth.
#1: be cozy
#2: with a glass of Pinot
#3: by a fire On the second day, we headed to see the big Redwoods. Wow…..
I hadn’t been to sequoia since I was like 14 or 15, and when I went, it was fall or spring, so I had never experienced this view before. The biggest and baddest tree around y’all. I give you GENERAL SHERMAN.
Totally obsessed and amazing…now my feet were frozen. It was time to get back to my lovely LA APARTMENT. LOL
Yeayyyyyy, so that’s it for today lovelies. Please try out the recipe above, let me know if you’ve got variations. You know I’m always playing I hope you ALL have a beautiful, blessed and LOVED day:)
I am grateful to you<3
Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, but to be totally honest…there hasn’t been too much to report. As far as my progress in my LIVE FIT TRAINER program, it’s going really well. Weeks 3 & 4 have been pretty much the same workouts and foods, except I’ve been upping my weight a bit. Just about to finish up week 4, and I gotta tell ya….loving this shit. I feel so empowered. “When in doubt, go LIFT”
I absolutely **CANNOT WAIT** till ***PHASE 2!***
This is where I start gettin shredddddded!! Finally! **CARDIOOOOOO!**
Anyway, trust me, you will get all the lowdown on foods, supplements, and workouts for the next phase of the transform. I’ve had a handful of “*re-feed”* meals ( some would call cheat days) within these last couple weeks, but, I’m fine with it. My body reacted just fine. I think the consistency of my caloric intake has kept my metabolism on check, so when I did have those heavier meals, I was fine.
Ok, enough babbling. There *are* other things in my life I’d like to share, u know! On to some great shots of my girlfriends wedding in Calamitos Ranch, in Malibu this past weekend…..
It was a gorgeous evening.
Check out the biggest **BABES** of the night;) legends!
The cutest couple ever! This dress was absolutely stunning!!!! Completely obsessed by her 20’s finger wave hair.
Ok, now come theeeeese homies! Haley, to my right, is my other date. Lol.
She got that fake pony up in her hair, and it looks sooooo bomb! Lookin like JLo! Champagne, and some more champagne….. Then I just kept adding OJ. Lol
How adorable is this little spread! This was put together by Brown Bear Eats out of Costa Mesa, CA. Omgggg. I couldn’t resist! They have the absolute BEST peanut butter cookies and gluten free brownies!
NEW FINDS & FAVES……
It’s no strange news to you about my obsession with QuestBars. This I know, but I can’t help but to send a lil shout out, EVERY time I buy them. They are by far the BEST protein bar on the market. All the flavors you see are all made with stevia or erythritol.
Erythritol is a naturally-occurring sugar alcohol derived from a corn source and is naturally found in small amounts in various plants, fruits and fungi, including mushrooms. It contains virtually no calories (95% less calories than table sugar), has a low glycemic impact, and doesn’t contribute to tooth decay. Basically all the bad things about sugar are absent in Erythritol, yet it tastes just like sugar and is about 70% as sweet.
They are delicious!!! The best part is, when you lightly zap them in the microwave! I know, I’m sounding gross right now, but i don’t carrrrreee! Hard to pick a fave folks!
Again…no secret. My favorite season is fall. This pic says it all. I die for organic fujis.
Bell Plantation’s PB2
Not a new find…but I ran low, bought a new one, & thought I would remind you, that ya’ll better get on this PB train.
85% less fat calories than regular peanut butter! HELLLOOOO , need I say more.
Ok, so a girl can really get sick of “OATS” as a pre-workout meal, so this past week, I’ve switched it up. I found this amazing, moist, delicious & organic sunflower seed bread by Delba.

Yummmmmm!!!! So nutty and perfect macros for a pre-workout. I’ve just been topping with a bit of Nature’s Hollow (sugar-free) honey and done. Gives me the perfect amount of energy to kill my early morning workouts. I just cant do the whole fasting workouts anymore…ugh soooo not about that lean muscle loss. FEED TO GROW!
POST-WORKOUT: 5 egg whites, 1.5 oz shredded chicken & veggies
Since my diet has been short of exciting as far as playing around with new ingredients, (my list of foods is pretty boring), I’ve been researching alternatives to some of my favorite sauces & seasonings. I ran across this puppy while doing some shopping the other day. I don’t know if ya’ll are familiar with Walden Farms products, but they also have a BBQ sauce that is 0 cal, sugar free, well, all of the above, but….i just cant bring myself to buy it. If you read the back, you honestly CANNOT pronounce a thing that’s in it. UMMMM, I just couldn’t justify it. Anyway, then I saw this one. Good things come to those who wait, right?!
Well, she’s a WINNER!
Nature’s Hollow SUGAR FREE BBq sauce.
Nothing hidden, sweetened with Xylitol.
A carb lovers DREAM!!!!! LOW CARB BAGELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody please pinch me and wake me the fuck up!
I saw these at my local (& FAVORITE) lil low carb store, and I was hesitant. I was like “realllllly, wtf is gonna be in this?!”

I spent a fabulous 4 days in gorgeous Miami beach FL. with my favorite people. My family:) I left last Saturday to meet up with my folks, who had been staying at my godfathers new place at the Trump Towers. Yowwwwwzzzzzz, it is stunning. I mean……. Ridiculous. W were just a little bit north of south beach, which I actually that was better. You aren’t caught up in the crazy mess all the time.
The beaches here are like no other! Crystal blue, warm, clean, and full of fun little sandbars. Heaven, seriously. You all know…I am a total brown doggy, and lovvvveeeee the sun and ocean, so I was in fullllllll! We love miami, cuz it’s got such a Latin culture attached to it. Argentinians everywhere (my peeps) everyone is tan and wearing the hottest bikinis, the guys are super fit, the seafood is excellent, and it truly has a very traditional sense of family as well. Maybe it’s the Latin thing. Whatever it is, we freakin love it here. In fact, I’m currently trying to get my folks to retire here!!!;)
A lot of people can’t stand the humidity…I say, BRING IT BITCH!
I can’t lay out without putting on my fave sun cream… Maui Babe!
A plus to the heat… You don’t want to way anything hot, heavy or fattening. All I wanted, was fruit, salads, and fresh cold pressed juices. My first day there, I grabbed the rental, and headed to a friends juice bar in South Beach. Well. I’ve gone JUGO NUTTZO.
Jugo Fresh is a local spot serves an amazing product. Amazing raw, fresh juices and foods. It’s reputation with the locals has skyrocketed and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!
I got enough juices to last me 4 days. I wasn’t planning on juice cleansing while in Miami, but I knew my body just wanted this freshness, at least 2x a day. I love incorporating cold pressed juices in my everyday diet. Keeps me regular, hydrated, and full of nutrients while naturally detoxifying. That green juice above, was my FAVORITE! so delicious. if ever in Miami…pleaseeeeeee check it out! Jugo Fresh has something for everyone.
I made sure to fit in a workout every morning while at the Trump. I gotta tell ya.. This gym was SICK! Best part was…I was practically the only person in there every morning. “Thank you… I love having the gym to myself, byeeeeee.”
I spent 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours there quite early doing a combo of cardio and GPP workouts. Super killer. I guess it does help having that beautiful beach view while working out. Lol.
My cute ass parents. We took a day in the afternoon to shop and have drinks.
I bought a thong bathing suit. Don’t even think about judging. Lol. That is how we do it in South Beach. Mmmk. Maybe it’s a South American thing. Xo
This is how I did my hair every day and night we went out. A JLo bun. That’s right. My hair is a frizzy ass mess in this weather, and frankly, it’s too damn hot to wear it down. I’m kinda feelin’ it. Thoughts? I used one of those spongy circular things to make the bun look bigger and like I had more hair than I actually do. Hehe. Y’all need one. Buy on that matches your hair color. They are the bomb!
Here’s the Miami gang. This trip was FANTASTIC! it felt so great just to lay out, be with fam, and have no set plans. I’m rooting for this place, for my parents retirement. I know it’s not for another 10 years, but a girl can dream;) special thanks to my godparents;)
ST. HELENA! ( Napa valley)
3 days of this gorgeous place for my best friends wedding.
This was the venue. Probably the greatest place ever! Farmstead restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch. This place was nothing short of perfect. They not only had their vineyard, but also a farmers market, olive oil tasting, an organic farm attached, a gorgeous farm to table restaurant, etc, etc. wow.
The wedding was fairly small. About 80 guests made their way to St. Helena to celebrate the nuptials of Chris and Brooke. We all pretty much booked our stays through Air bnb. If you haven’t yet heard of air bnb, you need to get it together. It’s the best application for phone or iPad that helps you find rentals through private owners for a getaway. It’s amazing.
If you’ve never made your way to the wine country, and are planning on it….be aware! Hotels are really expensive! For $250 a night…you’re in a motel. yeah, I know. It was my first time there. I was shocked. Lol
Anyway, searching through the listings of private rentals, we came across this little gem:) a cute little cottage less than 1/2 a mile from the venue.
We just barely made it to the rehearsal lunch on Friday afternoon after a super long day of travel. Thank god we made it, cuz that food was unbelievable. You could immediately tell, that Brooke & Chris’ main objective for this party was to feed people food and wine they would never forget!
Delicious!!!! All of it! I took a pic of the menu, but it’s on my other camera. (Ugh. Yeah, remember..the one that won’t let me download them on the computer!)
It just kept getting better. I practically ate myself dumb on the actual wedding day! I had 4 days of super fit and clean eating in Miami, then I come to Napa, and lose my shit! Lol. How could anyone pass up homemade Mac and cheese, cheddar biscuits, pulled pork sandwiches…rib eye… The list just keeps going… Ummmmm. Oh and, I only went for a quick hungover run on Saturday morning, other than that, no workouts on this trip. ( juice cleansing as I write this) lol. Did I meant ion…I blacked out Friday night. Rare form. Goooood lord.
Not quite ready but I kept picking at them like they were. I can’t go to napa for the first time and not taste every grape I see;) it really was just stunning to see all of this agriculture around me. I snuck into the farm next door to check out what was harvesting, and I found my heaven!
Sky high sunflowers…
Beautiful red Swiss chard, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash…
The big day was finally here. All gathered in Brooke’s house to get ready. Lots of hair..makeup….pictures…champagne…salads…(trying to be skinny before getting in our dresses) 😉
And crude shit talking. We turn into gross sailors when we all get together. Hilarious. Can any of you relate? I sear, it’s not that weird. Right?
Friends for life. I can’t wait to see the professional pics! I loved the idea of wearing the same color scheme but having different dresses. It really looked perfect, especially for the country vineyard look we were going for. I love that I just said “we” lol, as if I was the the one making the decisions. I mean, “they”.
You will probably see a glass of wine in every damn picture I post. I mean.. It’s the wine country. This was my break from picture taking with the group. The guys were up, so I shimmied my bridesmaid ass over to the bar. Lol.
The never ending supply of amazing Long Meadow Ranch wines. Oh..and open bar. I swear…I didn’t get too crazy here.. Just wine at dinner and maybe some drinks at the after party;) I was busy shaking my ass and dirty dancing all over that place. Lots of ” Brian, I’ll jump and you pick me up and twirl me, ok!?” The most loving and supportive couple. I love you guys and thank you for allowing me to be such a part of your beautiful day! Have fun in Hawaii!!!!! Xo
What do y’all think? I would say over all, a pretty amazing week of friends, family, celebrating, and relaxing! Glad to be back home and back to my regimen. All in all, I only ate naughty for 2 days… I can make up for it;) remember… It won’t kill you to have a couple cheat meals. Enjoy it…Get over it, and recover.
Be on the lookout for my next post. I will sharing a couple of new and delicious recipes as well as a Spartan Race giveaway!!! 2 free entries as an athlete!! Woohoo! I did it last year and I felt like I could rule the world afterwards!!!
Have a great Monday babes!
Happy Sunday lovelies!!!!
It is a mighty HOT one today! Up bright and early this A.M. And ready for a packed day:) first things first, COFFEE! Then, tidy up the house. The folks are stopping by today… After scarfing down 1/2 a quest bar and pounds of fresh cut watermelon, I headed to my favorite Sunday hotspot, the Farmer’s Market.
Went a lil kookoo:) Always buying more than I actually need. I’m back to juicing, so I made sure to lots of greens and fruits.
Best part about the Farmer’s, are the fresh flowers! Today, I picked up 4 bunches of beautiful dahlias. They’re literally in every room now…until, of course, I forget to change the water, and they all wilt. Lol. The worst, I am.
But aren’t they stunning! The color is outrageous! They don’t let off any kind of smell, but whatever. I’ve got plenty of candles:)
Oh, yes….there was a new lady in town selling her homemade RAW cashew cheese. I tried it, and of course had to buy it. It was delicious. I’ve always loved the raw lifestyle, and incorporate it into my day to day diet as much as possible. Although I don’t think I could ever be fully raw, like…everrrr, I like the idea of its principles sometimes:) part-time. Lol
Nary Dairy is produced by a husband/wife team out of the Chefs Center in Pasadena, offering the “The cream of the Non-Dairy crop” with plenty of delicious cashew cheese flavors to choose from. It’s seriously a nice alternative! Loving them!
I’ve been throwing in a small beet in my morning juices, so I bought a bunch this morning to stock up. Anyway, you know the green leaves coming out of the beet? Well, I used to always cut that bit off, and toss it. Wtf. I guess I just thought it was good for nothin’. Poor beet greens, so misunderstood:(
WellllllI….I finally found a way to not let any of it go to waste! And guess what!? It’s the bommmmbbbbbb!

Today’s WOD was GPP FITNESS, Cardio Tababta.
Lets just say…it was gnarly. I did this at home before heading out for the day, and because I don’t have a row machine, I subbed that move for back rows with a theraband. Try this one out, it’s awesome! 8 rounds of each move for 20 sec work/ 10 sec rest.
If you don’t know what a move is. Don’t worry. On their site, you can click on the excessive, and it immediately takes you to YouTube, where everything is explained to you very quick and efficiently.
All of the above went down before 11:30 this A.M. Nonstop!
Time to relax:) Mom and Pop picked me up, and we headed to Santa Monica to celebrate this pretty’s 1st BIRTHDAY!!!!! My baby cousin Emma:) she’s perfect!
We took Wilbur, and all hung out at the park. Everyone was out. Love it. We BBQed and enjoyed fun and laughs. Um, I ate a lot today, oh, and I had cake. There! Lol. ( Making up for it tomorrow)
Aunt to the left…Mom to the right.
So, as you know, I’ve been dying to set up a home office upstairs since I moved here, and I’ve finally set er’ up! How bout that desk!
I am sooooo stoked! Well, really, it’s a dining table converted to a desk;) lol. Coming along ladies! Such an organized lady now, I mean…..
Completely consumed with summer scents lately. My new Archipelago pine-apple candle is unreal! So fresh and sweet, I wanna eat it up. So here’s a tip…I purchased this one, along with many others on Gilt.com. Have you heard of it!? It’s an amazing site constantly offering amazing discounts on named brand stuff. It’s mostly heated yoga, but offer non heated as well, and have amazing hours. I’m takin’ from 6:00 am to 9:00 p.m. I’ve been going probably 3 times a week, and feel incredible.
As a new student, they offer 1 week free as a trail.
Ok, sooooo….I was supposed to quit my addiction to sugar free gum….but I decided to quit quitting….
I died and went to heaven when I saw this new flavor at target. Saw it…bought it…chewed it…loved it. The struggle is real.

Hello my lovely ladies!
Today’s post is near and dear to my heart. I love to throw a good party. Better yet, I GREAT bridal shower. Of course, this couldn’t have been done without my beautiful, fabulous friends! You see, we LOVE throwing parties, and yes….sometimes can be stressful, but in the end…totally worth it;)
On this gorgeous, sunny day, we celebrated the upcoming nuptials of our bestie Brooke with friends and family. We pulled it off with no stress, great attention to detail, and loads fun!
Admit it, we’ve all been to some super annoying showers, haven’t we? Today I’m here to share with you the FANTASTIC DO’s and DON’Ts guide to THROWING A GREAT BRIDAL SHOWER!
GATHER YOUR TEAM:Typically….the braidsmaids;)
The most important part of beginning the planning process, is writing a list of what needs to be done (in great detail), and start delegating jobs to each one of you.
No one does more than the other. Equal spending, etc, will ensure everyone’s happiness. lol. NO STRESS= STOKED FRIENDS.
Have a pow wow, a girls night. Make a fun day or evening out of planning.
Remember babes, it’s supposed to be fun, and most importantly…NOT about you. It’s about that beautiful bride:)
I give you….MY BEST FREINDS:
The BEST of party planners.
Pay attention to detail. This is what makes these kinds of events unforgettable. Perhaps, it be that you get the brides favorite flowers, or maybe you match the party to the wedding theme. Even something as simple as a personalized chalk heart on a fence, can make the world of a difference. Especially, in a photo, which she and yourself will have forever.
Fill the damn place up with hideous silver lined balloons screaming “CONGRATULATIONS!” All over the place. Tacky, and completely NOT personalized.
This is a party ya’ll, so please DO offer appetizers, snacky foods, etc.
Beautiful fresh flower centerpieces. Hit the flower mart on a sunday for great deals. Arrange them yourself, you’ve got style, and you’re not lazy, so…Show us you’ve got the touch;)
PLEASE DO NOT:
Buy the pre-packaged, BRIGHT ass, Ralph’s version of “a BEAUTIFUL arrangement” for $14.99. Save that for Gram’s bday. k…..
This is a party ya’ll, so please DO offer appetizers, snacky foods, etc.
People don’t like standing around with nothing to do…
FEED THEM AND GIVE THEM DRINKS! DUH!
A little EXTRA decor seals the deal.
We found this at PAPER SOURCE. Create whatever saying you want, all you gotta do is arrange the letters. EASY PEAZZZY.
If you can pull off an INDOOR/OUTDOOR party, GO FOR IT. Not necessary, but a nice alternative.
Maybe MOST importantly, next to the food of course….
Offer a signature drink for the special event.
We are in LA, in June….it’s warm out….Give us some SANGRIA, CHAMPAGNE, and WHITE WINE SPRITZERS.
Get peeps wasted on vodka tonics. Its not a club, or your 21st birthday. Mom and G-ma gotta drive home.
Oh & not cute.
**********IT’S ALL ABOUT PRESENTATION…..CHECK OUT THE LITTLE BAR SETUP***********
This is NOT a free for all people… The truth is, the more organized you are, the more people can enjoy themselves & the less feaked out you are by all the stuff you gotta do at once.
Create a menu. A SIMPLE ONE.
We got this awesome chalkboard at the local Marshall’s for $12.99. Adds such a great touch, and allows for for people to know that there is food coming. This way…they don’t scarf down all the chips thinking that might be the only thing their gettin’. Could you imagine…”Oh,, I’m sorry, were you hungry? We were just thinking chips and salsa were enough” ummmmmmm
RUN OUT OF FOOD!!!! Better to have extra for yourself later than have the embarrassment of exposing your LACK OF preparedness.
Make sure your menu is balanced in nutrition. No one, I mean NO ONE, wants to feel like a beached whale at a party. In other words, keep it classy and proportioned, if you know what I mean. This isn’t your cheat meal. OK.
Having dessert options makes people happy. We like to snack. On several things, that is;)
* Not everyone likes the same thing.
Create a SWEET atmosphere for your Dessert table. SET THE SCENE. If it looks good, people want to eat it.
Try individual portions. Much cuter, and easier to to munch on as you’re walking around mingling.
On our dessert table:
Made by yours truly.
(because we’re all on LOW CARB)
Sugar Free Cheesecake Rounds.
Paleo Sugar Free Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
Force feed people messy chunks of sugary, marzipan cake. They will enjoy dessert when they want to enjoy it. Hense…dessert table. Get it, when you feel like it. Again, it’s about creating fluidity in the party. Make life easy for your guests.
No one wants to leave a party empty handed.
If you can pull off a simple, personalized, and affordable party favor, DO IT!!!!!!
Nothing says, “Thank you for coming” more than a party favor. It shows GREAT attention to detail, and can really spruce up your dessert table. In our case, Alicia had a genius idea of cute little mason jars, filled with delicious caramels in which she attached a thoughtful saying on each one of them. Adorable, and simple. THE KEY.
Put the faces of the bride and groom on your party favors. Yes, we love them, But we don’t want that shit. If I had a quarter for every engraved or screenprinted wedding or bridal shower favor I recieved, I’d be a rich bitch. Give us something we can eat or actually use, otherwise, you know we’ll just hoard it, and never see it again.
Ok, I KNOW I am NOT the only one who thinks this so, here I go….
A game or two is fun…….
3 or more…..too much.
We are not trying to spend an hour & 1/2 playing games ya’ll!
This is the best game….and the bride actually gains something from it!
Everyone brings with them a pair of panties that shows your personality. She, then has to match the undies to the friend. If she misses…she drinks. (or stuff a marshmallow in her mouth, each time she misses. lol) Either way…in the end…she comes up on loads of panties. STOKED.
Allow for things to happen organically. If you put games near the gifts, that’s where you go next. Hand the Bride-to -be her champagne, and let the unwrapping begin.
Making the bride read out every single card she receives, and forcing her to pose with her new swiffer wetjet and new set of china. Snag a few good shots, and call it a day. Remember, all eyes are on her, it can be a bit uncomfortable. lol.
This next portion was the highlight!
Pull off an impromptu backyard photoshoot with friends and bridesmaids. I don’t mean…hire someone, get lighting, make a big deal, I mean this…
Gather the flowers from the centerpieces…get in the sun…and get your mom on a chair to shoot the pic. DUH!
pssst…you can photoshop later.
Just when you think you all couldn’t look cheesier…THAT’S when you get it right.
When else would we get these fun shots??…On the wedding day.. I think not.
HAVE WE COVERED EVERYTHING?
Great….NOW, It’s time to have fun and enjoy your party:)
This post is dedicated to the bride, Brooke Barnett & to my AMAZING girlfriends.
