Hi friends! Happy HUMP day! Had such a busy day today in the salon, it was great! Only thing….around 3 pm…I started feeling super sick:( no clue why. Ugh, I hate that. All I wanted to do, was get home, have some soup + oatmeal, and blog:) not too much to report today, but a got a few shots from my Sunday Funday at the beach….some fab new bangles from MADEWELL…white nails, and a super AMAZING mugcake recipe!!! Yeeeeeooooooo

Marcin & I threw together a delicious picnic, packed surfboards, threw willy in the car, and headed north on PCH. It first started out cloudy, but cleared up fairly soon. The surf was pretty small, but super fun! Well, for me at least…I like the small, cute waves;)
Poor Willy, we tried to leave him on the beach as we paddled out, but……apparently….dogs go into full on SAVE YOUR OWNER mode, and he literally leaped into the ocean (no, he doesn’t swim) thinking we were gonna drown! It was seriously the craziest shit I have ever seen him do! Straight pounded by waves, poor baby. We even tried to tie him up while we went out, and he started screaming bloody murder. I mean, has that ever happened to any of you? Wtf! He had to wait in the car…

I just noticed….the boo looks like Orlando Bloom in these pics. Lol. Adorbs.

Yeay, this week, finally received my order from madewell.com, in which I ordered while in Danville. Amy’s sis Lindsay had these on and I swooned over them so much, I had to copy!

I gotta tell ya….I get so much inspiration for food, and recipes off all my fitfam friends in Instagram! This particular recipe shouted out to me. Adena, over at PRETTYLITTLEFEAST, posted this not too long ago, and it just had FF2F ALLLLLL over it! PUMPKIN…YESS…CHOCOLATE PREOTEIN…HELL YESSSSS! anyway…
This seriously took me 3 minutes to make. I mixed all the ingredients, in the same bowl I cooked it in. C’mon. Super easy! No excuse!

Chocolate Pumpkin Mugcake
Recipe type: Healthy
Serves: 1
 

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp chocolate whey protein
  • 1 tbsp coconut flour
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk (I love this one)
  • 2 tbsp egg whites
  • 2 tbsp canned pumpkin
  • a few drops of stevia or 1 packet (if powder)
  • (optional topping: PB2 mixed with a bit of water & strawberries)

Instructions
  1. place ingredients in a greased bowl. ( I used coconut oil spray)
  2. Microwave for a MINUTE.
  3. Continue to cook in 15 SECOND intervals, to make sure you are not over cooking.
  4. Flip onto a plate & add toppings.

You can top this with whatever you want! Greek yogurt, honey, almond butter… I love powdered peanut butter… 85% less fat. I’m all about it. Duh.

Hi friends!!!! It’s been a hot minute, hasn’t it?! Well, I’ve got a lot to catch you all up on. Including….my awesome weekend away in Danville, CA with my bestie, Amy…food preps…and a new “get the look

So, first off, let me just say it right now. Please be cautious when scrolling through these pictures, as you will find some, “I reallllllllllly shouldn’t be eating this”. Now, these pics wouldn’t typically be sooo offensive, but remember, I am now on PAHSE 3 of the Live Fit Trainer, and what you should’ve seen in these pics, was chicken breast, eggs, and brocolli….buuuuuuuut that is far from what I’ve been eating these last few days. GOOOOD LORD CARB-LOAD! In fact, thinking of things now….I think the last few posts have been, me admitting my latest binge. Geez. I’m sorry. That’s annoying. I need to stop that. I guess I’m still struggling to find that balance, huh. Welp…..one day at a time ladies.

I just spent 3 fantastic days in Danville, Ca enjoying beautiful, fall, and cozy weather, drinking fab wine, enjoying wood burning fires morning & night, eating tons of delicious food, and getting DOWN on some Veteran’s Day sale shopping!

I fu*#ing love it! A fireplace near, a happy puggy pug, and a nice hot nespresso cappuccino! This is pretty much the ideal fall day for me;)

Welcome…”THE LADIES WHO LUNCH” oh… And drink a lot of wine;) on our way to enjoy some of our favorite Chardonnay at WENTE vineyards in Livermore, CA. If ever there….gotta try the Riva Ranch Chardonnay, or just order at BEVMO! It’s a must try! Super smooth and buttery. Only $13.99 a bottle!!! It’s a winner, and I promise all your white lover friends will obsess.

We didn’t have time to stop at too many wineries but we managed to get one more in. Charles R vineyards. All the way at the very end of the road, was this little gem. This is where I found 3 bottle that I just couldn’t leave without.

The area surrounding the tasting room was so pretty, so the girls and I got creepy and started staging mini photoshoots. Lol. This is Lindsay…Amy’s real sis. ( I’m her fake/wanna be sis) We may have very well been related Ina past life. Just sayin’

Ok…So I had to take a pic of this, cuz it was pretty genius. So the guy pouring the wine at Wente, says to us, ” Watch this. If I’ve truly free poured exactly 1 ounce of wine into this glass, then I will be able to tip this over, and nothing will spill out of the glass. It will just sit right at the edge”. Hmmmmm. Ok

Well…. There it is folks. WHAT THE F%*k! Pretty cool. Thought I’d share;)

The rest of the night was super fun! We BBQ’d for dinner and enjoyed our Chardonnay of course. Not gonna lie, got a bit tipsy. Lol. So fun!
The next morning, hungover n’ all, I managed to jump out of bed and head out of the house for a 4 mile run around her neighborhood, Blackhawk. When I say, BEAUTIFUL, It is a complete understatement. Fancy, yes. But, beyond that….it’s practically perfect. Everyone driving around in golf carts, beautiful landscaping, I’m takin’ not one hair outta place!

The next morning, Amy hooked it up with the breakie! Omg!!!!! Y’all need to make this!!! It was delicious!! You might have noticed the cabinets without doors, and no, it’s not supposed to be like that fools! They’re in the midst of remodeling;)

Alright, pay CLOSE ATTENTION!

This is her famous morning scramble! It’s a bit Italian, and very easy.

INGREDIENTS:

1 tbsp avocado oil

1 cup of egg whites

2 whole eggs

3 applegate chicken apple sausage links

Big handful spinach

1/2 chopped shallot

Chopped fresh rosemary

Chopped fresh thyme

Garlic salt

Pepper

Topped with fresh Parmesan

DIRECTIONS:

Sauté shallots, then add sausage and spinach. Sauté until softened. Add eggs, herbs, and spices. Last but not least, top with some fresh Parmesan and serve. It is DA BOMB!

Remember when I mentioned offensive food pics…. Well…here she blows. Omg. I ate like pretty much everything. So good. Tomatina was on fire today. The girls took me here since it’s one of their favorite spots in town.

The spread…. Pumpkin purée soup, fried polenta in marinara, garlic rolls, spinach salad in a wrapped flat bread, salad(with creamy dressing) & focaccia bread with bruschetta! WTF SOOOOOO GOOD! A bit heavy for lunch, but hell with it! ;) plu…all that shopping made these bitches hangryyyyy! Lol.

Oh, and it didn’t end there my friends.
Dinner was just as bit of a shit show. Let me rephrase that…… Dat shit was da BOMB, EXPLOSIVE! Yep.
Beef chilli…garbanzo bean salad, beef tri-tip, hot-dogs, fries, etc. Did I mention, it was a buffet!!! Dun dun duuuuuunnnnn nn
Then came time for dessert. Of course a meal is never complete without dessert, right!? Said the binger inside of me. So, of course, homegirl decided that it would be an amazing idea to have an ice cream sandwich. I mean…are you fuckin kiddin’ me! What kind of whales belly did I come from! This is the problem when I go out to eat. It’s pretty much a trigger for me to just throw it all out the window! And no, you are right, if I was having this every once in a while, then yes, I would say, “enjoy it, everyone’s gotta still live and enjoy life!” Right!? Well, not when it’s happening alllllllll the freakintime! My god.

Since it’s all about balance, we threw some veggies in the mix;) not just any ol’ mix, this mix was soooooo delightful, and tasted amazing RAW! We were meant to grill these veggies, but ended up enjoying it so much more raw, that we just said, “eff it!”

These veggies were so easy to whip up, and are a super healthy side dish to pair with any protein! We found great, fresh pre-packaged vegetables (zucchini, cauliflower, mixed peppers, onions, asparagus, broccoli, carrots) at the local supermarket.

We threw them in a big bowl and tossed them with

MONTREAL STEAK SEASONING
GARLIC POWDER
SALT & PEPPER

What an awesome mini vacation! I flew back home Tuesday night, Marcin (Mcdreamy) picked me up and we had a delicious sushi dinner at House of Taka. Are you guys into sake? If you are, what, in your opinion is the best kind(brand)? I tried cold sake, and really thought it was lovely. Paired really great with the fish. Yummmm. Now, I’m craving sashimi.

Anyway….finally home, it was time to get back to business. Back to clean eating, and workout planning. I made my favorite PUMPKIN PROTEIN BARS but, this time, made them in cute lil thanksgiving themed loaf cartons.

This recipe make 24 small squares, (if made in a 9×13 pan) once cut up. I can have 4 squares a day! ;) yeay! This is the best recipe I’ve found! Thanks to Jamie Eason!

The recipe also can make 3 mini loaf pans. So, I made 1 with walnuts and 2 without. I figure these would also make for a really great home-baked gift! Super cute!

Another one of my go-to favorite snacks, are these TURKEY MEATLOAF MUFFINS! seriously, with only 80 CALORIES per muffin, you need to get into it! Full of protein, and really filling, these are really helpful in keeping you in track of your daily macronutrients.

I haven’t done a ““GET THE LOOK” in quite sometime, so I thought I would share a layered look that I’m loving right now. As usual, there’s a TJ MAXX find in there;)

During the change in seasons, especially in LA, my favorite thing to do, is layer. LAYER..LAYER..LAYER! Ok, maybe not quite that many layers but, you know…here in LA, It can go from 85 degrees out, down to 60 degrees by the time you get off work. Especially in November/December. This is always a good excuse to bust out those ankle boots or “booties”. They are the perfect shoe for this season. I love it because, I’m sorry, but I just can’t commit to a full knee night boot until winter.

Happy NOVEMBER! Time to roast those pumpkins!

Hi loves!!! With Halloween behind us, I can’t hardly believe that the end of the year is upon us. As you know, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday, but I loveeeeee fall, so…. I had to show support and at least get dressed up. Here’s a shot of us at my girlfriend Kelly’s house. She threw a great lil party. Honestly….I have absolutely no clue what I was supposed to be, but, it kind of resembled a sheriff from New Mexico. Of course, a bit of a sexy version. Whatever. Lol.

Anyway…for those of you wondering…(since I never post pics of boys) this is Marcin. He’s dressed up as a “big black cloud” and he’s dreamy. Sighhhhhh

Ok, moving on to more fall news;) finally time to start getting rid of some of these sugar pumpkins all over my house. From decoration into my belly!!! I decided to cut this puppy up, and roast it.

Pumpkin is pretty tough in texture and typically takes quite some tie to roast and soften in the oven, so I cut it up into small squares to speed up the cooking. A lil impatient you could say…..
Here’s an idea of what to do with the seeds when you remove them from the inside of the pumpkin. Lord knows…I HATE wasting food. SWEET CACAO ROASTED PUMPKIN SEEDS.

These little pumpkin bites were roasted with:

HONEY ( I used this one)

NUTMEG

CINNAMON

SALT & PEPPER

Roast at 400* for 40 minutes.

(note: pumpkin in itself isn’t very sweet. Do not get confused with “canned” pumpkin. When roasting real pumpkin, if you want it sweet, make sure to add a bit more honey to compensate for the bitterness.)

As you all know, Halloween comes with copious amounts of candy, on candy, on CANDY!!!!! Shit candy, really. Kit Kat, twix, snickers, ughhhhhhhhhh! I’m not gonna lie….I did give in and have a few. C’mon…who really didn’t have ANY shit candy?????
Well, yes….I’ve got a gnarly sweet tooth & will absolutely admit to having sweets (sometimes a bit toooooooo often) , but…….. if I’m gonna get cray on some sugar, this is what I wanna stuff my face with.

So, we’ve covered pumpkin, now, let’s explore another fall flavor. CARAMEL!
One of my favorite clients from the salon, Diane of Nerdhavenfarms.com has really hit the jackpot with these. I was a lucky son of a bitch to get to sample these sweet but slightly salty beer & Pretzel caramels. We have the best time when she comes into the salon. We chat, laugh, share blogging tips, compare recipes and bounce ideas. I love it. She has a total foodie like me!! :)

If I’m gonna get down on some sugar, I’d seriously prefer for it to be in this form; handmade with local ingredients, organic, & homemade with love! This is the best way to enjoy sweets my sweets! How freakin cute is there packaging though!!!???
I not only wanted to share these perfect little morsels because I LOVVVEEE them, but also because I was super inspired by Diane’s passion for whole, clean foods as well as her life balance of health with a bit of added sweetness;) I truly aspire to find that balance and find that passion. November is here!!!!! This is how naughty I’ve been…. I haven’t been posting enough, I know. We went from the end of oct-the begging of Nov without a post! Wtf! Well, November pretty much came so fast, it practically slapped me in the face! This past Sunday ( November 2) was a a very special day.
My best friend Alicia (on the right) and I, along with close family and friends ran the 6th annual Heroes of Hope grey ribbon crusade to continue brain cancer research, in which all proceeds benefit childhood and adult brain tumor research at UCLA, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Alicia’s uncle was recently diagnosed with a lrg brain tumor and is currently undergoing chemo through Cedars-Sinai. We pray that he recovers and continues to live a healthy and cancer free life.

The event was held at beautiful Dockweiler State Beach Park. I was surprised that the fog rolled out fairly early. We ran in sunny & beautiful weather:) Absolute best part: Loads and loads of supporters showed up!

For some reason, I thought we were gonna be running a 10k but apparently we signed up for the 5k. Whatever, I was just stoked to be running by the beach. It was actually perfect because I haven’t really been running lately, so a 10k at 7:30 am prooooobably wasn’t the best idea for my problematic, not trained feet. Lol. The 5k was perfect and super fun!

This is the thing…..I NEVER find bras that fit me perfect. I always just “make it work” lol. Soooooooo, when I tried on “THE DATE UNLINED BRA” I realized that I had met my match, my soulmate! I’m a sucker for a good deal, and guess what!? If you bought the bra ($28.50) you practically received a free matching panty! Whatttttttt!? Hell yeah. Bring it betch.
A set for $30!? I’ll take it….times 5. Lol

Anyway, back to things of importance. Fitness.
Yesterday, Monday, marked day 1 or the LIVEFIT TRAINER from bodybuilding.com.
First day of week 9...LEGS.

Ok, so I didn’t actually do this whole workout today. Reason being, that I knew I had to teach Zumba at 7 pm and seriously thought it may be too much on my body. Sometimes, you just gotta be honest with yourself. I couldn’t do it.
My class was fantastic though and we had a great time finding out inner sexy bitch.
I surprised myself when I decided to stay for the next class, which was body sculpting.

Oh girllllllll! My body said “oh hell no!”
I immediately filled my tub with Morton’s Epsom salt, grabbed some reading material and soaked! Soaked my tired and sore muscles. Womp womppppppp.

Fitness magazine meet and tweet event!!!

What an amazing event to be a part of, I gotta tell ya! So stoked to have been a part of Fitness Magazine’s meet and tweet event on Tuesday! It took me EFFIN ages to get there due to the horrendous traffic on the 405 freeway…annnnnnnd not to mention, THE FLAT TIRE! Ugh, I literally rolled to Santa Monica in the slow lane, with the hazards on all the way to PCH highway. Lol.
Please don’t ever do that. Dumb.com. Triple A came and fixed the problem when the event was over.

If you’ve never heard of tony Horton, then you, my friend, are living under a fuckin rock. He is the mastermind behind all that is P90X, beachbody and much more. Let’s just call him….genius.

Another fitness enthusiast. Mr. Harley Pasternak. Celebrity fitness guru and trainer, with a really great and refreshing perspective to healthy living. His book, The Body Reset Diet, is a 3- phase program focuses on easy, effective ways to slim down. Perhaps one of the main things that’s that stands out to me…is that he emphasizes one blended meal a day. This book seems to be very easy to follow.

Things learned from his talk:

take 12,000 steps a day.

Blend one meal a day.

Resistance training is key

graze don’t gorge.

Juicing is not recommended. All it is…is lots calories especially from sugar.

Next up, was the beautiful Alyce Levine. Registered dietitian and nutritionist and founder of nutritionbite.com This was a home run for me. She hit a lot of points that I seriously related to. Mostly, on why we binge, how to overcome the battle, and how to come to a place of nutritional balance where you can have that bag of chips in your house, and you can have the occasional drink. She emphasized on not give food the power to become the “forbidden fruit” and to stop “rewarding” ourselves with food.

Coolest part was getting to know some really awesome and successful fellow bloggers, Cassie from blogilates, Sarah from Skinny Runner, Monica from Run Eat Repeat, and Whitney from Eco vegan gal.
They gave some really great insight I to how they got started in blogging and how they turned their blogging into a legitimate business. Super funny and sweet chicks. Unfortunately didn’t get much of a chance to get to chat with them to much, but glad to have been there to hear all of their advice. Here are a few key points that the girls touched upon.

Super important to me as a blogger, but maybe you’re looking to start a blog and need some advice..?????

**** the importance of social media and having a presence within that community. Get yourself out there and don’t be afraid to be yourself.

**** don’t be a cheat! DO NOT buy instagram followers or twitter followers or whatever the f*%k. You’re just gonna be super embarrassing if you do that. Ew. Lol

**** know your worth. Set up a media kit and charge for your time. It takes time as a blogger to do what we do, so don’t sell yourself short. I especially loved when Monica mentioned, ” listen, YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN A FREE BOX OF GRANOLA!” Reviews,giveaways…all of that takes time and effort, you should be compensated. Ask your fellow bloggers what they do, get ideas, become a community of friends.

**** oh here’s a good one from Sarah, “Use an ad network (I have GLAM Media), Google Adsense, start a newsletter to reach all of your readers, and look for brands and companies that are a good, organic fit to partner with. Sponsored content is taking the place of ads so position yourself with companies that would be a great fit for your voice and topic.”

I was ecstatic when I saw that they were one of the sponsors. If you know me well, then you know, that I’ve got the worst feet. After dancing Zumba 4-5 days a wk, I started noticing pain on the tops and arches of my feet..like, BAD. Of course, on top of that…the fact that I work on my feet all day, really doesn’t help. I was diagnosed with tendonitis. Ughhhhhhh. So I really had to make huge changes to my workout regimen and the shoes I wore on a daily basis. This added to my ongoing Orthopedic shoe collection! Lol.

Been really loving getting up and enjoying my mornings before rushing to the gym. I’m over that. Plus, now that I start work way later in the A.M, I actually feel so much more free, and and find that I really don’t need to wake up at 5 to get shit done. Absolutely lovely. Time is priceless.

The time of year when turkeys start popping up on magazine covers…..A couple of years ago, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 22 people at my parents house, and it was a huge success. It was a lot of hard work, and not gonna lie….expensive.

But….absolutely worth it. It was amazing. I called it my “William Sonoma Thanksgiving“. A lot of the ideas came from either that little William Sonoma mag they give out at the store during this time of year, or from the November issue of Bon Appetit. My favorite foodie magazine. Definitely not the healthiest of recipes, but damn delicious. This year, I’d really like to do something similar. Gotta chat with mom to see if we can round up the troops :) This year, I may see if I can healthify things a bit. You know…subbing cream for say……almond milk…or a nut meal crust with coconut oil instead of a shortbread pumpkin pie crust. Add stock instead of butter…. you know, things like this. What do ya’ll think. I know I should be talking about Halloween since it is the holiday coming up, but…to be honest, not a huggggggggggge fan of that holiday. Not interested. I like the decorating part, but no so much the dressing up and the rest of it. Anyway……

Ok, so if you follow my instagram….you will see that I’ve been obsessing over Arctic Zero !!!!! Last week, Arctic Zero sent me a box filled with loads of different flavors to try. Droooooool!!!!! Talking about substitutions, this is by far the smartest ICE CREAM SUBSTITUTION!!!!

As you know, I’ve got a bad history with binge eating. This I do admit. On many occasions, I’ve scarfed down whole pints of ice cream, like a train was chasing me. Trying to get it down so fast so that I wouldn’t have to actually think about how guilty I would feel afterward.

You can’t possibly go on without Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer though October. No sir. For me, sugar free.

Listen, I know its fake shit, and soooo not natural OR organic, but you know what. Leave me alone. It’s one tbsp or less I use a day, so whatever! It is so yummy, and homegurrrrlllll loves her coffee! I swear I looked EVERYWHERE for this! Couldn’t find the Coffee Mate one, so I settled for International Delight.  Its pretty fantastic!!! 20 calories a tbsp for a cup of coffee beats a 100 cal nonfat vanilla latte from Sbucks, right?!

OCTOBER RECIPE ALERT!

Sometimes, sweet potatoes just aren’t gonna cut it. I’ve been sick of em’. I’ve completely played them out. Pumpkin too. LOl.

I’ve moved on to Kabocha Squash. BYEEEEEEEEE. Have you ever had it? It’s probably the onesquash that you keep passing up when you’re at the store, cuz frankly, it’s pretty ugly. Dark greenish/brown usually. It’s one of the only squashes that I actually eat the skin after I’ve cooked it. It’s full of fiber, so go right ahead. Make sure it’s organic if you’re gonna eat the skin. It’s also one of the sweetest ;) I can’t think of a better FALL & October recipe to share with ya’ll. It’s a healthier alternative and pairs great with all proteins and other sides like veggies!

 

KABOCHA SQUASH PUREE.

I made this the other night with a lemon & herb roasted chicken and a spinach & avocado salad with olive oil and champagne vinegar. It was soooo bomb!

That white stuff you see sprinkled over the top, is my absolute favorite cheese! MANCHEGO!

Kabocha Squash Puree
Author: 
 

Ingredients
  • 1 whole Kabocha squash
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk. (silk brand=30 cals for 1 cup)
  • 2 tbsp Fat free sour cream (Trader Joe’s brand=15 cals for 2 tbsp)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg
  • salt & pepper
  • optional topping: Grated manchego cheese on top, or use your fave!

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven 400 degrees.
  2. Cut kabocha squash in ½. Sprinkle both insides with garlic powder, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  3. In a baking dish, with ½ an inch of water. Place both halves face down into the dish.
  4. Roast for 40 minutes, or until very soft. top may brown slightly.
  5. Once cooked, let sit out to cool. Then add all the rest of ingredients along with roasted kabocha into a high speed blender, or whatever you have to blend.
  6. Serve puree with a bit of your favorite grated cheese over top;)

LEAN MUSCLE…SHED FAT! PHASE 2!

Hello babes! Happy Wednesday! A little late on the post but a Beautiful start to the week. Finally WEEK 5 (phase 2) of my LIVE FIT TRAINER program has begun, and I couldn’t be more stoked. Finally some shit is about to start going down! Cardio is increased from ZERO to 3-4 days a week including 5 days of weight training. Another exciting part of this phase is the “leaning out.”
Remember the first 4 weeks, yeah, that was all “bulking.”
Now it’s time to shred!

Monday came and went sooo fast! Lots of meal prep going on here! During this PHASE 2, I decided to switch things up a bit. I’m starting to get more outside the box now. Chicken, sweet potato & broccoli kind of got boring so, I’ve now moved on to ground turkey, lean sausage, tuna, and some other fish like cod & tilapia. Brown rice, quest bars, and flax crackers as my starches, and a larger array of colorful veggies. I’m definitely feeling more comfortable with really understanding how much of each macro nutrient I should be eating.
The diet remains pretty similar to the last phase and nutrition is KEY!( 5-6 meals a day. = approx: 20 carbs/ 9 fat/ 24 protein per meal) other than my dinner now has no starch pretty much.

This is considered one of my 5-6 meals in a day. Of course, now, I season everything with mrs. Dash. (NO salt seasoning to reduce sodium consumption)

I’ve measured this out to be less than 200 calories.

 1 sausage link: 120 calories – 6 grams fat ( you could try veggie sausage as well, just not sure how many cals and fat they have.


1/2 cup frozen onions and peppers

 

3 chopped asparagus

1/4 chopped zucchini

***Cooked on non-stick skillet with any organic pan spray.( I like Trader Joes coconut oil spray)

One can of albacore tuna in water. Mixed with your faves.

I make this and have it ready to go. In a Tupperware..in the fridge..ready to grub. Prep is key. I pretty much am always hungry, and if I don’t have stuff made and prepped in the fridge, such as this, or hard boiled eggs, maybe some turkey slices, I will eat whatever the eff is naughty and around me. Lol.

This recipe is simple:

Apple cider vinegar or red wine vinegar ( a splash)
1/2 a juicy lemon
1 tbsp capers
4 chopped cherry tomatoes
1 dollop fat free sour cream
Salt & pepper
A bit of chopped fresh onion
A squeeze of siracha or fave hot sauce;)
(Optional : cilantro)

Ok, sooooo I didn’t completely cut out boring ass lean chicken, cuz the truth is…it is a great source of lean protein, and I do believe I need at least once a day;)
6 oz here folks.
Made a whole big batch of organic brown rice in an ancient rice cooker that I pulled out of god knows where. ( low carb lady hasn’t had “rice” in AGES!!!) anyway, really excited about I cooperating this starch. Before 4 p.m. This is;)
1/2 a cup RICE = a serving

And for my fave part!

This kale Sautée!
Sautéed with shallots and garlic with a bit of coconut oil spray on a non-stick pan
The SECRET To this delicious kale: STEVIA!!!!. Yep. That’s right. Kale tend to taste a bit bitter, so I added just a few drops of liquid stevia to the mix and Voila!!!! Sooooo good! Try it!

On top of my new fitness routines and nutrition plan during PHASE 2, is the introduction to new fat burning and toning supplements. In doind ALLLLLLLLL of my research, I’ve found a company and product that is best suited for me.

Cellucor 

NO Extreme is my (no-creatine ) PRE WORKOUT supp for phase 2 and C4 (w/ creatine for phase 3

HD is my fat burner. On for 8 wks. off for 4 wks cycle. (did not use fat burners during bulking. Phase 1)

CLK is my supp stacked with the HD for toning & sculpting. Also on a cycle of 8 wks on 4 wks off.

BCAA is my Aminos for DURING and POST WORKOUT.

I started busting out my CEP Compression socks for heavy LEG days. I really do find that it helps promote circulation and reduces chances of injury. They take a year to put on my damn feet, haha, but well worth it.

Here she is folks. No filters. just me. I see improvement in muscle definition after just 4 wks of this program! Ok, of course, not near where I want to be, but on my way.

Obliques are making their way to front and center and biceps are slowly but surely reaching for the sky. Listen, it’s a journey. No one said it would be easy. I feel great, strong and healthy. With this program, I’ve found nutritional balance in caloric intake which I’ve always struggled with. Alright time to make those muscles pop now!!!! lol.

 Please don’t even look at that stupid flexing face I’m pulling.Good lord.

ITALIAN SKILLET TURKEY & VEGGIES

ITALIAN TURKEY & VEGGIE SKILLET
Recipe type: SKINNY
Prep time: 
Cook time: 
Total time: 

Serves: 4
 

Ingredients
  • 1 package extra lean (1.5 G fat per serving) turkey
  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 5 mini peppers (yellow,red, orange)
  • 4 cloves chopped garlic
  • 3 big handfuls of spinach leaves
  • 4 tbsp Bella Vita (low carb) marinara sauce (i like spicy)
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tbsp red wine vinegar
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tbsp Mrs Dash. extra spicy seasoning
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • salt and pepper to taste (easy on the salt)
  • optional: 1 tsp siracha or fave hot sauce.

Instructions
  1. sautee onions and peppers with a bit of salt & pepper on a non stick skillet with oil spray. Med heat.
  2. Once softened, add water, vinegar, and marinara sauce.
  3. mix and add turkey. MAKE SURE TO USE A SPATULA TO KEEP BREAKING UP THE MEAT.
  4. Add all spices, hot sauce and garlic and cook on Low/med heat to avoid drying out the lean meat.

Hey y’all! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA, but to be totally honest…there hasn’t been too much to report. As far as my progress in my LIVE FIT TRAINER program, it’s going really well. Weeks 3 & 4 have been pretty much the same workouts and foods, except I’ve been upping my weight a bit. Just about to finish up week 4, and I gotta tell ya….loving this shit. I feel so empowered. “When in doubt, go LIFT”

I absolutely **CANNOT WAIT** till ***PHASE 2!***
This is where I start gettin shredddddded!! Finally! **CARDIOOOOOO!**

Anyway, trust me, you will get all the lowdown on foods, supplements, and workouts for the next phase of the transform. I’ve had a handful of “*re-feed”* meals ( some would call cheat days) within these last couple weeks, but, I’m fine with it. My body reacted just fine. I think the consistency of my caloric intake has kept my metabolism on check, so when I did have those heavier meals, I was fine.
Ok, enough babbling. There *are* other things in my life I’d like to share, u know! ;) On to some great shots of my girlfriends wedding in Calamitos Ranch, in Malibu this past weekend…..

It’s no strange news to you about my obsession with QuestBars. This I know, but I can’t help but to send a lil shout out, EVERY time I buy them. They are by far the BEST protein bar on the market. All the flavors you see are all made with stevia or erythritol.

Erythritol is a naturally-occurring sugar alcohol derived from a corn source and is naturally found in small amounts in various plants, fruits and fungi, including mushrooms. It contains virtually no calories (95% less calories than table sugar), has a low glycemic impact, and doesn’t contribute to tooth decay. Basically all the bad things about sugar are absent in Erythritol, yet it tastes just like sugar and is about 70% as sweet.

They are delicious!!! The best part is, when you lightly zap them in the microwave! I know, I’m sounding gross right now, but i don’t carrrrreee! Hard to pick a fave folks!

Ok, so a girl can really get sick of “OATS” as a pre-workout meal, so this past week, I’ve switched it up. I found this amazing, moist, delicious & organic sunflower seed bread by Delba.

Yummmmmm!!!! So nutty and perfect macros for a pre-workout. I’ve just been topping with a bit of Nature’s Hollow (sugar-free) honey and done. Gives me the perfect amount of energy to kill my early morning workouts. I just cant do the whole fasting workouts anymore…ugh soooo not about that lean muscle loss. FEED TO GROW!

Since my diet has been short of exciting as far as playing around with new ingredients, (my list of foods is pretty boring), I’ve been researching alternatives to some of my favorite sauces & seasonings. I ran across this puppy while doing some shopping the other day. I don’t know if ya’ll are familiar with Walden Farms products, but they also have a BBQ sauce that is 0 cal, sugar free, well, all of the above, but….i just cant bring myself to buy it. If you read the back, you honestly CANNOT pronounce a thing that’s in it. UMMMM, I just couldn’t justify it. Anyway, then I saw this one. Good things come to those who wait, right?!

A carb lovers DREAM!!!!! LOW CARB BAGELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Somebody please pinch me and wake me the fuck up!

I saw these at my local (& FAVORITE) lil low carb store, and I was hesitant. I was like “realllllly, wtf is gonna be in this?!”

So, like a lil creep, I sat in the store while googling the company and their products. Thin Slim Foods has got it goin on!

Ingredients:  Flours(organic wheat bran, natural wheat protein isolate, natural oat flour), purified water, sea salt, calcium proprionate(a light preservative), chicory roots, yeast(sorbitan monostearate), dried onion.

ITS FALLLLLLLLLLL!!!!

That’s right! I absolutely LOVEthis time of year:) Today’s post may not have to do with my LIVE FIT TARINING PROGRAM, and it may be quite random to most of you, but….I just felt compelled to share with y’all some of my absolute FAVES this month.

September is the BEST month. It marks the beginning of boots and sweater weather, and everything cinnamon, spice, and everything nice. The leaves start to change and the air finally crisps up. I’m in the HOT San Fernando. Valley, so I’m beyond ready for this EFFIN heat to go bye byeeee.

My coworker came to work in these the other day, and I just about died. They areeee sooo cute, comfy, ( cuz the heel is mellow) and are the perfect ankle height.
Well, here’s the catch. They are Sam Edelman, and go for $160.00. I wasn’t even planning on buying them, but I did love them. Sooooo, the other day, on one of my TJ MAXX maxinista shopping sprees, I saw these little puppies from the corner of my eye. one fucking pair!!!!! And when I say, I ran to them…..I’m not even close to exaggerating.

A new IPHONE!! Bye bye iPhone 4. I hated my service and frankly, that damn phone wouldn’t even ring anymore. Piece of sh*t. I switched from ATT to Verizon, and finally got myself the iPhone 5. Really, I went to originally pre order the 5s ( which I’m soooo glad I didn’t now, after all the complaints) but after speaking to a bunch of the staff at Verizon, they convinced me that the 5s wasn’t really worth it, sooooo here we are. My new sidekick, the iPhone 5.

Who would of thought I would be so obsessed with a high school football show, but it is fantastic! On season 2 now, and I swear, I’ve been watching like 3 episodes before bed.

PROTEIN ON PROTEIN.

This whole month, while doing the LIVE FIT TRAINING PROGRAM, my life has become protein on protein, on protein. My whole daily diet has become chicken breast, egg whites, veggies, brown rice or sweet potato, protein goodies, and fish. It actually has been really yummy. The foods are all prepped very simply, and without added salt and sauces. One might call this lifestyle dry…I call it, THEBOMB!

Favorite part of September by far… Learning to be da bosssss in that weight room gurrrrl! I’ve been loving lifting weights and… heavy I might add! This bulking phase is sooo fun! Don’t waste your times on those 5 lb’ers ladies! I promise you won’t get “BIG” eat clean and lift heavy…you will see results that will astonish you! ;) don’t let those boys intimidate you out of here. Be the shit! Own it.

Happy weekend my loves!!! Today is Saturday, ( I’m sure you won’t be getting this post till tomorrow though;) but….I wanted to start catching you all up on how well the LIVE FIT TRAINER program has been going.

I just finished 2 weeks, and I feel super fit. I’ve been lifting heavier than I have ever lifted, without any cardio. Well, except my Zumba class on Mondays;) shhhh. Don’t tell Jamie Eason :)

Anyway…if I didn’t know the extreme importance of a healthy diet then…… I sure doooooooo now!!!!! Wow! I was actually imaging my body looking like a fuckin gladiator with all this lifting and no cardio, but in fact, the opposite. My body feels tighter, not bigger. Here’s the mistake people make. Lifting heavy with no cardio….and EATING BAD!!!!! That’s when you look big. Because my meals have been super clean and consistent calorie intake, I’ve been able to stay lean WHILE bulking. Genius.

Yes, it’s not the easiest thing to do. Eat healthy all the time. Honestly, this program has you eating beyond healthy. You must make it a lifestyle. Weighing your food, counting your calories, making sure you are in the right %’s within your macros. (protein-fats-carbs) it’s a science people, and I get it. It’s not for everyone.

So far, this is working. It’s also helped me control my binging. Myfitnesspal has kept me feeling really accountable. I’m guessing that’s what I needed. If you want results…you’ve got to make changes in your life that must be permanent. Just like my friends who have had babies…I always tell them when they’re feeling like cows after giving birth, I say… “Hey, it took 10 months to get your body like that, it ain’t gonna take 1 month to take it off!” Ok, not like I’ve ever been preggo, but…its the same thing with women struggling with weight all their lives. It took 29 yrs for my body to look like this, it ain’t gonna take 2 wks to get it exactly to where I want it. It’s about being patient, consistency, and 75% diet & 25% fitness. Your head has GOT to be in it. Trust me, throwing in the towel, which I’ve done many times over, is much easier, but seriously chicks. Lets get it together. Enough already.

Typical morning breakfast:

1/2 cup egg whites, spinach, assorted veggies, and 1/4 cup quinoa scramble with a dollop of Trader Joes fat free sour cream ( 15 calories for 2 tbsp) and hot sauce

6 oz lean chicken breast. ( preferably organic, veggie fed) —PROTEIN
1/4 cup quinoa—STARCH
1/2 cup steamed broccoli & zucchini—VEGGIES
Add a tbsp salsa.

Jamie Eason’s Carrot Cake Protein Bars
Prep time: 
Cook time: 
Total time: 

Serves: 8
 

Ingredients
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2 scoops vanilla whey protein
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp allspice
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg
  • 4 egg whites
  • ½ cup erythritol, Truvia, or Ideal ( I used xylitol) or even a couple packets of stevia
  • 8 oz baby food carrots
  • 4 oz water

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix flour, whey protein, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, baking soda and salt together in a bowl.
  3. Mix egg whites, Splenda, baby food carrots and water (optional) in a bowl.
  4. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix together.
  5. Spray glass pyrex dish with non-stick butter spray.
  6. Pour ingredients into dish.
  7. Bake 20-30 minutes.
  8. Makes 16 squares.

Serving size: 1 Calories: 94 Carbohydrates: 10 Protein: 10

Super stoked on my new creation and DINNER idea!

VEGGIE STUFFED PEPPERS!
These are wildly delicious and only 123 calories for one whole stuffed bad boy!!!! Absolutely amazing!
Clearly, you could add some ground turkey or lean beef, but I’ve already done that here.

This is sooooo easy! Try them out. I’ve been really into using nutritional yeast in dishes lately, and it adds this really fantastic, kind of cheesy taste to things. I am dying over it. Soooo good.
Tis recipe makes 4 large stuffed peppers.
4 servings—- 125 calories per serving. 4 gr FAT. 10 gr NET CARBS. 9 gr PROTEIN!

 

VEGGIE Stuffed Peppers
Author: 
Cuisine: Healthy
Prep time:

Serves: 4
 

Ingredients
  • 4 large peppers (any color)
  • 1 large organic zucchini
  • 1 small onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup organic grated carrot
  • ¾ cup chopped white mushrooms
  • 2 celery stalks (chopped)
  • 3 tbsp peeled canned tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup fresh grated parmesan
  • spices: salt, pepper, Mrs. Dash seasonings, oregano, red pepper, garlic powder
  • Topping: Fat free sour cream and onion mix in a pouch.

Instructions
  1. Make a circular cut through the top of your peppers with a knife. remove all seeds.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Chop all your veggies & garlic like pic above.
  4. In a med-lrg pan, greased with a bit of pam or coconut oil spray, add all your chopped veggies, garlic, and seasonings.
  5. Sautee until softened. About 10 minutes.
  6. Once softened, remove from heat, and place in a lrg mixing bowl.
  7. Here, you will add…egg, nutritional yeast, parmesan, and the 3 tbsps tomatoes from the can along with some more seasonings.
  8. with that mix, you will fill the peppers to the rim.
  9. Cook in a small baking dish where they can be standing upright.
  10. Bake for 35 minutes on 375 degrees.

Fat free sour cream ( 15 cals for 2 tbsp) mixed with TJ’S onion mix! Bomb.com. I topped these awesome stuffed peppers with a tbsp of this mix, and fell in love. I’ve been adding a tbsp to everything, especially on my eggies in the morning;)

PROTEIN BEFORE BED!!!
CHOCOLATE CASEIN “rice” PUDDING!

Holy mother of god.

INGREDIENTS:

2 packages of SHIRATAKI Miracle Rice

2 scoops chocolate CASEIN ( I use gold standard)

2 1/2 cups SILK unsweetened vanilla almond milk (30 cals per cup)

1 tbsp unflavored gelatin

2 tbsp fat free sour cream or 0% Greek yogurt

4-5 drops stevia

DIRECTIONS:

Remove “rice” from package, place in meash colander and rinse for a while.
In another bowl, mix 1 tbsp of unflavored gelatin with the 2 1/2 cups of milk & microwave for 1 min 30 sec.
Remove and whisk in casein protein.
Once combined, add stevia & sour cream (or 0%greek yogurt) and mix thoroughly. Place covered in fridge for a few hrs. Eat as night meal.
ONLY 118 CALORIES A SERVING. Serves 3

OHHH and of course, I can’t be forgetting to share my re-feed meal for this week. Lots of sushi last night along with a couple glasses of wine and beer.
How many calories over my max of 1460 you ask?..
Well….this meal took me 600 calories over my macro limit for the day. Taking me up to 2099.
Not bad though. Generally, refeed meals will be around 400-600 over your macros.
Yuuuuummmmmyyyyyy. I enjoyed it like such a fatty.

Coming into the end of my 1st LIVE FIT TRAINER week, I am feeling amazing!!!! Today is actually day 5, but no workouts today, so I figured I’d give you guys the lowdown on how it’s been going. I am not used to having 3 rest days in a row, but you know what?….I ain’t complaining cuz I’ve got a hunch that, that won’t be the case coming up here reaaaaaal soon. Lol. I’m gonna sit here and enjoy those 3 damn rest days. I gotta keep remembering that…whatever I was doing before wasn’t giving me the exact results I was looking for, so I’ve vowed to do it right and strict to the plan.

Phase 1 came with loads of prepping fun! I am fortunate to really love cookin’ and spending time in the kitchen, so that was no biggie what’s so ever. I am no stranger to meal prep Mondays;)
The NUTRITION during this phase is absolute key. Because some would consider this the “bulking” phase (building muscle, & no cardio), the proportions of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that make up your daily macros is super important. I’ve come to find through my calculations and what my goals are, that my daily macros will looks like this: 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates, & 30% fats. Some don’t count their vegetable intake in their calorie counting, but I do. It counts for me.
MY FITNESS PAL is a great way to keep track of your caloric intake. At the end of your completed day, with food logged in, it will give you a % breakdown of macros. I’m totally obsessed with it. Also, it really does make you realize how wayyyyyyyyyy too many cals you were consuming before!!

DAY 1:

Super pumped!!!!!

BREAKFAST:

1/2 c. Egg whites
1 c. Spinach with garlic
3 oz lean grass fed beef

MORNNG SNACK:

2 Jamie Eason turkey meatloaf muffins

LUNCH:

1/4 c. quinoa
1/4 of med. cooked sweet potatoe
Kale with tomatoes, cucumbers, cider vinegar, EVOO.
6 oz lean protein

AFTERNOON SNACK:

3 small Jamie Eason pumpkin protein bars

DINNER:

Same as lunch:)

Notes:
Lots of water.
Didn’t eat past 7:30 pm.

EXERCISE:

Today was CHEST& TRICEPS.
In the photo below are the exercises performed.
These were performed at 60 %strength capacity.
3 sets of 12 repetitions each.
Doesn’t seem like much, but homegirl was SORE!!!

I’m kind of new to the “counting my macros” thing, so it took me a few days, as you’ll see, to get them spot on to where they needed to be.

On this particular day, I had some calories to kill ( I love saying that) so I made my fave lil post workout recovery drink by All Pro Science. I love the blueberry ice flavor. Now with this LA heat, I crave this drink more than anything.
The great thing about this product, is that it’s made with all natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients, and no fake crap or sweeteners. It’s packed full of essential amino acids, and made with grass fed protein.
Although on the higher end with carbohydrates, it is low in sugar, and fulfills all that your body needs to recover after a grueling workout.

INGREDIENTS:

1 packet Blueberry Ice APS RECOVERY

1/2 cup organic blueberries

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

Ice.

Add all ingredients into a vitamix or blender and enjoy as a summer slushie:)

DAY 2:

Yeah!!!!!!! I passed the 1st day! Lol. So far, so good. I’ve been logging all exercises, supps, and caloric intake.
I can’t stress enough how IMPORTANT clean eating is to a program. Already, at day two, I woke up with some BOMB morning abs! Lol
ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN BITCHES!!! something we all struggle to get through out heads.

Day 2 , I woke up super sore from lifting, but it felt amazing. I’ve been really making sure that I stick to my schedules.
** Breakfast within an hour of waking up
**Cellucor pre-workout shortly after coffee and breakfast. ( 30-45 min before workout)
**Scivation Xtend (during and post workout) for recovery, amino acids
** 5-6 total meals a day with a caloric intake of 1500 calories a day.( this number is specifically calculated for MY lean mass, and body fat %, find YOUR number HERE.)
**very limited – none alcohol.
** Meal prepping. FAIL TO PREPARE…PREFARE TO FAIL
**take supplements

MORNING SNACK:

1/4 cup sweet potato

AFTERNOON SNACK:

2 Jamie Eason turkey meatloaf muffins

DINNER:

Seared ahi salad with no dressing from Take A Bao
1 small can grapefruit Perrier

60 oz of water throughout the day.

DINNER:( before 7:30)

1 cup cooked sweet potato with salt
3/4 cup egg whites ( I buy the cartons)

Although my protein, fat, carb ratio was great…I was lacking in some calories. Skipping calories in this case with this type of program is no bueno. Just as taking in too many calories is no bueno…. Neither is taking in too little.
REMEMBER: this phase is for building muscle. If you don’t get enough food, your body will feed on that lean muscle mass that you are trying to create.

DAY 4:

Got lucky with day 4′s workout! I get to do it at home!!! Yeah!!!
SHOULDERS & ABS
Today is my last day of lifting before my 3 rest days. Well, Sunday…I’m actually sneaking in a bit of cardio..oops. I have to Zumba people c’mon! I’m super excited! I’ll be teaching a Zumba class at this years Lululemon’s SOULcal celebration warehouse sale at the LA convention center.
If you’re in LA, come check it out! This sale. Is gonna be RIDICULOUS!

Anyway….on today’s food log, I switched up a few things. I can’t get bored with my food, or I lose it. So, since going a little nutzo with my bodybuilding.com order of Cellucor Whey galore, I’ve been loving playing with all the new flavors of proteins. Today’s was a delicious Molten chocolate shake. Sooooo bomb!

BREAKFAST:

An egg white frittata made with:
1/2 c egg whites
1/4 c cooked quinoa
Broccoli, spinach and zucchini
With a dollop of trader joes fat free sour cream and hot sauce.

Coffee with 1/2 c frothed almond milk

MORNING SNACK:

Protein shake:
Cellucor Whey in Molten Chocolate
2 tbsp fat free sour cream
1 tbsp chocolate PB2
1 c unsweetened almond milk
1/2 cup water

LUNCH:

1/2 cup cooked brown rice
6 oz chicken breast
Kale salad

AFTERNOON SNACK:

2 Jamie Eason pumpkin protein bars

DINNER:

2 Jamie Eason turkey meatloaf muffins

I’ve always been into diet and fitness, but I’ve never quite gotten the results I’ve wanted with what I’ve been doing. It’s time to get serious. This program totally breaks it down to a science that is foolproof. It all makes sense now. All I’ve got to do…is STICK TO IT;) lol. (said the cereal binger) I’m ready to build some serious muscle, stick to balanced diet, and get re-focused.

Now that that’s over, I can breath. I’m saving the before picture for the end of the 12 week reveal;) this program is something you, yo mama, yo aunti, anyone can do. All it takes, is absolute DETERMINATION. Like I said before, it’s foolproof. Through bodybuilding.com, it couldn’t be easier to manage and track your progress. Every part of the program is spelled out for you literally. You can print out your workouts, workout logs, what you need to eat everyday…I mean. Soooooo easy. Jamie takes the guessing bull shit out of the equation.

Here’s the deal…you click on your day….it gives you your workout for that day, and what foods to eat, then you print it out. Another way to do it….print out the workout logs for the week, and foods, and have them ready to go. Take the page with you to the gym. Boom. Done.
You will notice below…NO CARDIO!!!!! dundundunnnnnnnnn!!!!! I know!!! WTF. that’s what I thought too.
I’m totally that annoying cardio bunny. Well kids…time to make a change.

Everyday you will be able to see your workout in this form or in video. Remember..it’s all about form and technique, so if you’re quite sure what the specific exercise should look like, you’ve got visuals right in front of you.
*** if you are the type to get embarrassed or intimidated in a gym weight room, #1: get the FU%* OVER IT! #2: practice your form in the mirror at home, so that your mind and body become familiar and comfortable with the movement.

But before allllllll of this amazing-nesssss, I want you to educate yourselves in what your goals are. The only way to track your progress, is by being honest with yourselves.
I found a really GREAT post from a fave blog of mine, heandsheeatclean.com on how to properly calculate your body fat.
Trust me yo, this is noooo fun for anyone, I don’t care how skins you are. But listen, if you want results, it’s time to get real, and get down to the nitty-gritty.
Remember this is all a simple science.
*** Why do I need to know my WEIGHT??
To figure out what you should be eating, and how much protein you should be consuming.

It’s the key number in finding out how many of those pounds are lean muscle and which are body fat.

Here are my current, honest measurements as of today & through my calculations ( did this like 5x) I calculated this:

LEAN MUSCLE MASS: 98.5
BODY FAT %: 23.5

To start my meal preps today, I’ve made 2 of Jamie’s most famous recipes.
These two recipes will be my morning and afternoon snacks/meals.
Jamie Eason’s TURKEY MEATLOAF MUFFINS

Ingredients
2 lbs ground turkey (or chicken)

3 egg whites

1 cup quick cooking oats

1/2 tsp ground cumin

1/2 tsp dried thyme

2 tsp dry yellow mustard

2 tsp black pepper

2 tsp chipotle pepper spice

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp garlic powder (2 cloves minced)

1 small onion (finely chopped)

2 celery stalks (finely chopped)

Directions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Spray muffin pan with canola or olive oil.
Mix all your ingredients together in one large bowl.
Roll the mixture into balls and place in muffin pan. Muffins should be about the size of a racquetball.
Bake for 40 minutes.
Makes 12 muffins.

Jamie Eason’s PUMPKIN PROTEIN BARS

Ingredients:

½ C Xylitol Brown Sugar Blend (Ideal)

1 – 4 oz. jar baby food applesauce

2 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 ½ tsp. ground ginger

½ tsp. ground clove

1 tsp. baking powder

1 tsp. baking soda

½ tsp. salt

2 tsp. vanilla extract

4 large egg whites

1 – 15 oz. can of raw pumpkin

2 C oat flour ( just throw old fashion oats in a vitamix or food processor and pulse)

2 scoops vanilla whey protein

½ cup almond milk

½ C chopped walnuts (optional)

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350.
Spray a 9 X 13 Pyrex dish with non-stick spray.
Combine first 11 ingredients and mix well.
Add the final 3 ingredients (4, if adding walnuts), and mix until incorporated. Spread batter into the Pyrex dish and bake for 30 min.
Makes 24 squares.

Along with these amazing recipes, I’ve also prepped and portioned out loads of chicken breast, lean organic beef, and white fish. Loads of veggies and sweet potatoes are washed, cooked, and ready for eating, and my 64 oz of water a day is going DOWN!

I would love NOTHING MORE, than to hear your thoughts, and hopefully inspire some of you friends to join me in my hopeful transformation. I am soooo excited. I know it will be tough to stick to it 100%, but I promise you, I will try to do my absolute BEST! You know what….

Hi babes! Hope everyone had a fantastic & safe Labor Day weekend;) I just can’t believe that August has already flown by! There is still absolutely NO sign of the weather cooling down. Nope. In the valleys, it’s still triple digits! I need a pool! For the holiday weekend, me and some friends decided to get outta the smoldering, desert heat, and head to the beaches of Ventura, CA.

We got there around 11:30, and set up our spot. I got the BEST lil table that folds up from crate and barrel, that I’m completely obsessed with, and take everywhere…so we payed out all our snacks and drinks:) we started with mimosas of course, but used light Minute Maid 50% less sugar OJ instead of regular. Some more friends met up, and we moved to light beer. There’s just something so refreshing about an ice cold beer at the beach. Michelob Ultra to be exact. It’s super light, and low carb! Cheers to fun & tan lines;)

Around 4:30 we headed up for a killer (&low carb) BBQ! It was amazing! Lean Jennie-O Italian sausages, marinaded chicken breast, carne asana, bell peppers, spinach salad… OHHH myyyyyyyy!
Chips & salsa…(not so low carb, but still indulged) oooooooo, and some homemade rum, vanilla liquor cake that my friend Jules had brought. A bit of a food coma set in, but, hey…it’s a holiday:) lol.

After din we all headed back down to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Spectacular. Absolutely stunning.
That night, (sunday) we all went out in downtown Ventura, and had a ball. Super fun..lots of cocktails, and bar hopping. You know what that means…. Monday breakfast would be a cheat… Lol. I was dying for a rich, and delicious Blueberry Cornbread Muffin from Café Nouveau. Hands down fave breakfast joint.

Well, luckily..we made it home without traffic:)
Tuesday came far tooooooo fast.
Somehow, my pretty yellow roses lived though my un-air conditioned apartment for 2 days. WTF. So happy.

I woke up this morning feeling pretty defeated. I gotta tell ya, I cannot hang like I used to. My body was yelling at me for sure. I felt bloated, heavy, and lethargic. At that moment….I made some decisions.
Chill the Fu*% out…

Chill on the drinking!

I quit sugar. (Again)

Stick to low carb… ( with the exception of these healthy carbs: sweet potato (limited) squash. Tomatoes (limited) most fruits. Gluten free oats (sometimes)

Limit snacking.

(Holiday..or not!)
Listen, all of these things I’ve got to keep reminding myself, and even write down because THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME.

I threw on shorts and a sports bra and looked up today’s GPP Fitness WOD.
This was a really great one. Kicked my ass.
Not too busy at work today, so I also plan to take a Corepower class around 4:30 today… Really starting to feel like myself again, after a few days of whatever the fu%*.

Breakfast this morning was DA BOMMMBBBB! Doesn’t look very exciting, but it was exactly what my body was screaming for. Protein..protein..and omegas. Lol.
Work didn’t start till 11:00 am, so I had time to bake a fresh wild caught salmon:)
I made a delicious runny egg and yes, I did eat the yolk. Yummmmmm. I’m a new person.
Lately I’ve stopped using oil sprays, even the organic ones. I’m just over them. I’ve now switched to a teeny bit of coconut oil or Ghee.

side note: I just got back from Corepower Yoga.. Holy mother of god!! That yoga sculpt class kicked my ass soooo hard!

Hey y’all!!! Hope everyone’s week is off to a fabulous start! Before I get into it…I must admit: 3 cheat meals last week. Omg. Ok..I’m done. Moving on:) Today is gonna be fab. Not too many plans. Seeing the dentist today…which, love him I swear…but I hate having to see him. Lol.
I spent Sunday with the folks so…sadly, I missed hitting up my usual Farmer’s Market, so I had to get my weekly dose of fresh flowers from Whole Foods. Aka: Super fucking expensive flower selection. This week, it’s white roses. Feeling like a virgin;)
Aren’t they perfect? And…they smell like heaven.

You see. My problem is never a lack of motivation to work out, it’s more my diet. I do really well for a bit, then tend to throw it all out the window for a couple days. No bueno. All that work…and sometimes for nothing. What has improved, is my guilt and self punishment. I have gotten sooooo much better at controlling the binges, and refusing to feel guilty.

I’m babbling. Give this workout a try. If this is all you do all week, then be it. Remember…just move. You’re beating everyone on the couch;)

So, 10:00 A.M. Came damn quick. Ughhhhhhhh. Time for some really exciting dental work.
I have to get… Wait for it…. A CROWN!!!!! Ajhhhhhhhhh. Sick.
This is my amazing, genius dentist, Dr. Ourfalian.

Listen, I hate dental work as much as the next cry baby, but he just, absolutely makes the visit sooooo pleasant. He is very gentle, conservative & very honest. Everyone that I’ve recommended to him, has loved him.

I don’t think I have good teeth genes, so I’ve really got to keep with regular 6 month cleanings, as well as flossing after every meal. Do you guys really floss after every meal? I feel like a creep for only flossing once a day. Sometimes, I even forget to do that. Omg. So bad. I started to notice that my gums would bleed when I would floss sometimes…and, that my friends…is NOT THE BUSINESS!

The rest of the day was free. (Yeayyyyyyyy) I got home & of course, I was starving. One problem….if I tried to eat anything that required chewing, I would chew off my tongue. So, I had extra cooked oatmeal with flax milk, chia seeds, raisins, mashed figs, and protein powder.
Oh, and a fudgesicle.lol.

Since I didn’t get to my 1000 cal burning workout (above), I thought maybe I would make it to a late night yoga class.
Yep….it’s now 7:30 p.m…..haven’t been able to get off the couch from so much mouth pain.
No more anesthesia. Haha.
Hey, getting a crown is not exactly pain free kids. Wow.
Instead….I cooked the rest of the day. Making dinner and meal prepping tomorrow’s packed lunch.
I hadn’t gone grocery shopping, but I pulled out a few fridge staples, And made something sooooo yummy for dinner.

Stuffed Zucchini Boats

Ingredients

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven 375 degrees.
  2. slice both zucchinis lengthwise.
  3. With a small spoon, scoop out the center.
  4. Add ½ a wedge of The Laughing Cow Garlic & Herb LIGHT cheese into each ½ of zucchini.
  5. Lightly sauté thinly sliced shallots and chopped garlic.
  6. Top stuffed boats with sauté mix.
  7. bake face up for 25 minutes.

While skimming through my instagram feed, I came across @angelamccafferty and her ridiculous…super healthy recipe, motivation, and fitness profile. I searched through her pics, and found my inspiration for tonight’s dessert!
Just a few alterations to the recipe… Check it out…print that shit…and make it every night!

Moist, MOST delicious MUG cake w/peanut butter topping
Prep time: 
Cook time: 
Total time: 

Serves: 1
 

Ingredients
  • CAKE
  • 2 tbsp organic coconut flour
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla protein powder
  • ¼ tsp baking powder
  • 1 packet of stevia
  • a pinch of pure vanilla bean powder or vanilla extract
  • ¼ organic egg whites
  • 2 tbsp 0% greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp Flax milk, unsweetened almond milk, or water
  • TOPPING
  • 1 tbsp PB2
  • 2 tbsp 0% chobani greek yogurt

Instructions
  1. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.

  3. Add all wet ingredients & mix well.
  4. Transfer to a greased mug or small bowl.
  5. Microwave in 1 minute increments .
  6. Make sure to leave a bit of space because cake will rise as it’s cooked.
  7. -3 minutes
  8. For topping:
  9. mix pb2 and yogurt and top cake.

It is a gorgeous day today here in sunny LA! I am sooooo stoked that I am off today, I can’t even tell you! I woke up feeling super refreshed and ready to take on the day. I managed to sleep in till 6:30. Kind of unheard of for me. No joke. Lol. No yoga this morning. I’ve got other workout plans for later;)
I met up with Haley this morning instead for a lovely lil breakfast date at Le Pain Quotidien.

This place is an absolute hotspot. They have quite a few here in Cali, and I gotta say, EXTREMELY fresh food and generous portions. You can’t help but be enamored by all of the baked muffins, tartines, pastries and loaves of fresh baked breads. Ok….this is all veryyyyyy tempting to me. Ugh.
It all looks soooooo delicious! I’m a lucky girl that this place is walking distance to my house.

This is what healthy chicks do…lol. We salivate over all the baked goods, the…end up ordering egg white omelettes. Lol. Hahaha. Seems like a very simple breakfast, but you’d be surprised how many places manage to fuck this up. Also the little things reallydo count for me. For example… They set the table with fresh sea salt and fresh pepper, organic strawberry jam, and my fave, praline butter. Omggggg.

After feeling pretty full, but still comfortable, I laid on the couch and studied my crazy ass choreography for my Zumba class. I’ve got a new song on the playlist that makes me loose my head! Loving this song right now!

I had loads of energy…I forgot to mention I took a scoop full of C4 by Cellucor mixed with water before class, and I was unstoppable! Omg.
Anything that has the words “extreme” or “explosive” is bound to be fuckin GNARLY. Excuse my French. This is not something I take on a normal basis, bit it’s fun sometimes for that extra drive in your workouts. I’m sure it’s not the most “natural” product out there….but hey:/

After my hour Zumba class…my adrenaline was still cray cray, so I stopped at LA Fitness and busted out today’s GPP FITNESS WOD.

Check it out. It was pretty intense. I had to modify the weight and did 10 lbs instead of 15lbs.
My last round of the sets, I couldn’t step anymore. I had to do the last whole round stationary. Ahhhhh, sooo tired! Lots of child pose happening at the moment of completion. Lol

Lunch was nothing exciting to share. Plain chicken breast, a coconut flour pancake, and some veggies.

I’m trying to be super clean for the day, cuz tonight….ohhhh watch out. I’m meeting up with the girls from my old job (Sassoon) at our old stomping grounds;) Nic’s Martini Lounge. We go just a tad bit overboard on happy hour. I’m saving my naughty tummy for all those stupid delicious appetizers and wine. Hence….the double workout today. Lol. Stop judging, I know you can’t revisit a goooooood happy hour! C’mon!
Made it to Nic’s, and because of the lighting…couldn’t get a decent pic of me to save my life. This is as good as it’s gonna get y’all.

Missing my assistants to the max! All dressed in black. I love it. So Gaga. These kids are amazing! Some, for two years straight assisting, just to get the chance of being a “Sassoon trained stylist or colorist. I remember those days. It was my life. Looking for people (hair models) on the street willing to get their hair cut off by an aspiring stylist. It’s a lesson in dedication, patience, and tolerance. Not easy, so.. I commend them for working as hard as they do. Now, at my new salon, not having hired an assistant yet…I am now starting to realize how much important they are for the running of the salon. In fact, I’m a bit crazed without one. Call me snobby…bu I’m used to someone being right there if I drop my comb.

We had a GREAT time! We ate and drank like cows. Like…not kidding. Not a single vegetable was served. Yeah, this pic below…..not even the 1/2 of it. Lol. All carbs. Fries…pizza..olive bread…quesadillas…shrimp cocktail..more fries… Ugh. I was sick by the end of the night. Looks like yoga at 6:30 A.M will have to be pushed back till after work. Oooops.
I’m really good at making up for it though…lol. Lots of juicing and protein for the next few days, along with back to back days of workouts. Gotta get back on it! Just because you had one really bad meal….doesn’t mean the world is over, and your fucked. It just means, you enjoyed it for that moment, and you pick it back up the next day with full motivation, strength, and without punishing yourself.

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It’s been a FABULOUS day today, I must say….I’m absolutely loving my new job at Román Salon!
This morning I didn’t have a client till 11 am, so I took full advantage;) I woke up to my 5:45 A.M. iPhone alarm, thinking I would catch the 6:00 A.M. Hotyoga class at corepower, but instead, I decided to leave that for the evening and take a morning hike:)
Of course I woke up with a rumbling hungry tummy (as I always do) so, I quickly whipped up some super clean ( & low carb) coconut flour/banana pancakes. Here’s the recipe.

MAKES 8 SMALL PANCAKES

8 tbsp coconut flour

1/2 packet of stevia

7 egg whites

2 large eggs

1/2 mashed banana

Dash of cinnamon (optional)

NOTE: they cook pretty fast on a greased skillet, soooo, watch em’
I topped them with a little sugar free honey & figs:)

** 0% GREEK YOGURT
** UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK
** FLAX MEAL
** ORGANIC CACAO POWDER
** CHIA SEEDS
** RAW NUT BUTTERS

These are usually my go-to baking products. All of these are available at your local health food market, so stock up your pantry, and get to playing and testing in that kitchen of yours! Staying on track of your healthy habits has never been so easy or delicious! Honestly, my substitutions for naughty breakfasts has kept me very satisfied, and I never feel as though I’m “missing out”. Get me?

Before heading out on my morning hike to Fryman Canyon, I made my morning green juice which consisted of the the following:

* 1 big Swiss chard leaf

* 4 Dino kale leaves

* 3 big romaine leaves

* a handful of parsley

* 2 stalks celery

* 1 small Persian cucumber

* fresh ginger

* fresh turmeric

* 1/2 green apple

* 1 lemon
I also have been adding some new faves to the mix:

**whole aloe juice

**chlorophyll
I have really been feeling the difference when having one of these in the morning.

It’s been such a hectic couple of weeks, that my folks offered to babysit Willy for this week, and I couldn’t be more greatful. I’m sorry, but having a pup with severe separation anxiety can be really stressful. I always feel so bad when I can’t be with him all the time. It stresses me out thinking about it frankly. So, luckily…he LOVES going to his grandparents house. Ugh…does it make me a bad mommy that I need a break????:(
Mom, sent me a pic of willy this morning. Look at him!!! Sooo happy! She took him to the park, and he ran wild!

Although pretty foggy still out, the hike was awesome! I would say, the loop ties about an hour all together. It’s a nice balance of uphill/downhill. If your into hiking, or even trail running/racing….you have GOT to get these trainers! They are so lightweight and fit like a dream. Oh, and no laces;) the Saloman Speedcross 3′s are THE ONLY SHOE TO BUY!!

I like seeing shoes worn and dirty. Gives them life.

By now, 8:30 am, I’ve still got an hour to kill before hopping in the shower. God I love this schedule!
Anyway, as you know….the weakest part of my body is my core. I remembered that last night, I had received my Spartan Race WOD email, and I was alllllllllll AB intense, so I threw my tired ass on the floor and started crunching, twisting, lifting, you name it…I was doin’ it. Lol.
Ok….now I’m DONE!

Had a really great day at work. Was fully booked from 11-4, then came home:) a little weird coming home to an empty house. I’m used to Willy crying and jumping up like a crazy for 45 minutes after I walk through the door. Lol.

I almost didn’t know what to do with myself being off so early. I’m used to not getting home till 7 on Tuesdays.
I had a quick snack and headed to CorePower for a 6:00P.M. Hot Power Fusion class. Although a bit tired, I felt really strong in today’s class.

I literally walk out of there dripping. As if I just got out of the shower. It’s so crazy. I tried to take a pic of how sweaty I was, but it really doesn’t suffice. In fact, this is a pretty dumb picture. Lol

I was starved after class, so I reheated some leftover baked salmon, and through it over a big salad. Omg, I just can’t get enough salmon these days. For dessert, I ate another one of those delicious pancakes from this morning. I couldn’t help it. Totally obsessed.
I’m actually in a bit of a food coma right now as I write this, so please excuse my grammatical errors and bad language, I swear, it’s my body telling me to shut the f*%k up and go to bed;)

Before I pass the EFF out, I am super excited about what I recently got in the mail!! Eeeeeeeeeeweeaaaaa, I love my friends at APS. (Allproscience) They have sent me some super sweet samples of recovery to try out. I’m super active, and just as important as fueling your body before a workout is, so is RE-fueling your body after. These are 100% natural, and have no artificial sweeteners. I am so feeling that. I seriously hate gimmicks. These peeps give to ya straight. Continuing on my sushi grade fish obsession…I wanted to share with y’all our fun sushi making party of three from this past weekend:)
Ok, so remember on my last post…how I bought this gorgeous piece of fish at the farmers market?
Yes, that beautiful sashimi from the last post.

Well…since I had bought a ridiculously HUGE honkin piece it, I thought to myself, “WTF am I gonna do with that!” In my eyes…not so sushi grade after 3 days in the fridge. Sorrynotsorry. So I decided to have some friends over the following day after I had purchased it for an impromptu “HOMEMADE SUSHI NIGHT”

My friends Yasuna and Andrew came over. Yasuna’s parents recently owned a sushi restaurant, so I thought. “EAZYYYY PEAZZZYY” Well….not so much.

#1: No sushi knives….

#2: No sticky rice

Time to improvise.

I don’t care what anyone says. Even if your knife is super sharp…nothing can cut like a proper sushi chef knife. It is what it is.
My wusthof knife will have to do. I ripped thought that shit like lion. At this point, the rice had been cooking 45 minutes and I was starving.

Ok,so I’m not gonna lie. Homegirls does not keep white anything in the house. NO white rice, NO white bread, NO white pasta. Seriously. No joke.
So you can bet Yasuna was not having it. Luckily..well I don’t know bout lucky…but…I had some bomb ass brown rice in the pantry:)
Hmmmm….could we possibly use brown rice as sushi rice? Hunnnaaayyyyy…..DUH! Yes we did!!!
Here’s how:

ONE:
Cook rice. (Short grain) 1 cup rice; 1 cup water in rice cooker
TWO:
Thinly slice any veggies you want in roll and set aside, and slice your sashimi.
THREE:
Once cooked, let rice cool, add 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar and a pinch of salt.
FOUR:
Fold together while fanning rice. ( I know, weird, but that’s what all my Japanese friends say to do)
P.S. you could add a tsp of sugar along with vinegar… but you know…I’m not fuckin with dat!
FIVE:
Lay out your seaweed wrap, add a thin layer of your rice, layer in your veggies and fish.
SIX:
Start rolling. Tucking…rolling..tucking.
You get it.

The cutting of the roll can be tricky without severely sharp knives, soooooo
It may help you to place Saran plastic wrap tightly over the whole roll and cut your pieces through the wrap.
**this ensures a cleaner cut, while keeping the roll from falling apart.
That may or may not have happened to us.

I steamed some yummy edamame (shelled) and served it with crushed garlic, salt, and soy sauce.
The only thing that was missing from our super fun sushi party, was wasabi, and ginger, but hell! We didn’t care:)

Hello and good day fabulous friends! I’ve got soooo much to tell you! Like, big stuff!! on second thought…. im gonna save the big personal news for later. For now… even BETTER stuff I’ve got for ya! so, lets get right to it! Most of you know that I am obsessed with my fellow blogger’s site, proteinpow.com, and I’ve been making her broccoli protein bread for what seems to be ages now. Well, loving that recipe so much…I decided to try a little something out.

Every time I would make this broccoli bread, the consistency would remind me of a yummy, squishy piece of pound cake. Ok, squishy mayyyyyy not be the best term. Hmmm, more like soufflé -yyyy, but dense like a pound cake.
Anyway…blah blah….on this morning, my sweet tooth had kicked into overdrive, and I needed something…like, QUICK!

Glancing at her Broccoli Protein Bread recipe, I pondered while my stomach screamed for sweetness. I thought…ok..sub broccoli for cauliflower (milder flavor)…then, sub unflavored whey for vanilla whey….OMGGGGGGGG. ummm, hi NEW FAVE SHIT!
I gotta tell ya’ it’s seriously bomb.com. I’ve been having a portion every morning topped with a little ghee and sugar free honey. This honestly couldn’t be a better way to enjoy your protein powder. I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets sick of shakes, right!?20130807-165055.jpg

 

 

Vanilla Protein Pound Cake
Author: 
Serves: 4
 

OMMMGGGGG!!! amazing…and completely guit-free!
Ingredients
  • ½ cup steamed cauliflower
  • ½ cup egg whites (I used organic egg whites from Trader Joe’s)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup vanilla Protein powder. ( I used About Time Vanilla protein)
  • 4 drops stevia
  • 1 tsp Vanilla bean extract
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cinnamon

Instructions
  1. Steam ½ cup of cauliflower.
  2. Heat oven to 325 degrees and grease a small loaf pan.
  3. In a medium bowl add all ingredients including steamed cauliflower, and mix with either a handmixer or throw it all in a blender.
  4. Bake for 30-40 min depending on oven. should be slightly browned on top and a bit firm to touch.

Nutrition Information
Serving size: 2-3 sm. slices Calories: 178 Fat: 2 Carbohydrates: 2 Sugar: 0 Protein: 37

Now….a couple of notes. Although a very easy recipe to assemble, please be aware of the size of pan in conjunction with the cooking time. I used a loaf pan, (not the standard one) if you do use a standard size one, lower baking time.

The best part about this recipe….for 1 serving (3 small slices) there is a whopping 37 grams of protein!!!!!! WTF! To keep sugar and carbs low..choose this brand.I made sure to calculate accurately through My Fitness Pal. Un—believable! Check out the rest of the nutrition facts in the above printable recipe.

I was on one this weekend. Kitchen mode to the max! I boomerang often from sweet to savory, then back from savory to sweet. Story of my life. I can’t win. Pretty much always hungry. Lol.

Some delicious HOMEMADE HEALTHY BABA GANOUSH

Eggplant is my JAM! I usually grill it, roast it, even dehydrate it sometimes creating a raw eggplant jerky, but for some reason…have never tried making baba ganoush.. UNTIL NOW!!!! Don’t ask why the hell I haven’t made it yet, cuz I order it every time when at a Greek or Mediterranean restaurant. It’s smooth and soooo yummy. Even people who aren’t such eggplant fans tend to eat this shit up!
Because of the roasting…the eggplant becomes soft, almost caramelized. It’s divine.

This recipe has totally lasted me. The serving is 3 tbsp for 90 calories! amazeballz. I’ve been putting on top of flax crackers, salads, chicken, along side my roasted veggies… You name it! It’s very mild and creamy and I know you will swoon over this recipe!

Homemade Babaganoush
Author: 
Recipe type: Mediterranean
 

Make your own, and save yourself from all the added fat and preservatives!
Ingredients
  • 2 med. eggplants (roasted)
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 2-3 minced garlic cloves
  • ¾ tsp sea salt (can always add more for taste)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped parsley
  • pinch of paprika (optional)

Instructions
  1. slice eggplants in half. Place cut side up on a baking/roasting pan or sheet.
  2. pierce several times with fork.
  3. Roast at 400 degrees for 40-45 mins.
  4. Once cooked, let sit to cool.
  5. Spoon out meat, and toss the skin.
  6. Place roasted eggplant, along with all other ingredients into a Vitamix or food processor and pulse or blent until desired consistency is met. Smooth is ideal.

Serving size: 3 tbsp Calories: 90 Fat: 5 Carbohydrates: 12 Sugar: 5 Fiber: 7 Protein: 2

First up…
My first time buying sushi grade wild salmon. Holy mother of pearl!!!!! Why haven’t I EVER done this!? I bought a huge slab and have been goooogoooo gaga-ing for 3 days straight! I’ve now stuck the other piece in the freezer to grill later. For some reason, while at the Sunday market, I always would just pass by the fish guy, and pay not an ounce of attention. On this day, I was alllllll about it. Maybe it’s because my red meat eating days are pretty much behind me for the most part.

BEST FRUIT THIS SEASON:

Just look at er!!! She’s perfect! Juicy and ripe! That’s right. This is my ultimate. I could eat 5 in a row. They are the tastiest crop right now. The MANGO NECTARINE. I’ve even been throwing them in my morning juices and it makes my life complete!!!

Happy weekend loves!!!

Have you worked out today? I feel amazing after squeezing in a 6:30 am CorePower hot fusion class. In fact…Im running a little late this morning cuz of it, but totally worth it. Remember… I work saturdays, eeeekkkkk! Anywho…I am loving this shit!!! I’ve soooo become that chick. The “yogi”. I gotta say…I’m happy to be home from my wannabe jet setting vacations, and it’s time to do a little natural cleansing. I just finally bought a new Omega juicer from Bed Bath & Beyond (with my 20% off discount) and have been loving incorporating green juices into my diet.

What I love about the Omega, is that, it extracts the the juice at a slower rpm, so it doesn’t create all that foam that my old Breville juicer used to spit out. GOOD NEWS: more juice…less foam!

I also recently found a couple of amazing products. I found them at Raw Food World, but I’m sure Whole foods carries these brands.

And… Since I’ve been juicing so much lately, I just can’t bring myself to throw away all that amazing pulp! So, I decided to utilize those extra nutrients. That fiber is full of fiber ya know! I busted out my big ass, totally obnoxious, almost commercial sized dehydrator… and made some enzyme rich “RAW” pulp crackers!
I know what your thinking…GROSS!
Well, think again. #sorrynotsorry babes… Sooo not gross!
So here’s the deal….I made mine savory, but, only because I was juicing mostly greens, beets and carrots. If you’re more of a sweet person, like…maybe you prefer juicing oranges, tangerines, carrots, melons, berries, etc, you could also do a sweeter cracker.
I’d have to play around with that sweet idea…hmmm.

Either way…we are recycling. Nothing goes to waste in this household. If you don’t have a dehydrator to make them “raw”… It’s ok. You can also bake them. No bigs;)

Anyway… I searched around for recipe ideas, switched a few things around, and found that this one was the easiest.
Mind you…play around with the flavors and spices you want to taste. Make a few different batches if you’ve got a few trays. Just sayin’

RAW Juice pulp crackers

Ingredients
  • 2 cups pulp
  • ½ cup flax seed meal (ground flax)
  • 3 tbsp nutritional yeast
  • ½ tsp italian seasoning
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • ½-3/4 cup water

Instructions
  1. using a food processor or vitamix, mix all ingredients to remove chunks of pulp.
  2. You can also mix with fork or hand if you don’t mind chunks.
  3. roll or pat down onto a dehydrator sheet. Roll or pat quite thin, or it will take a long time to create the crispyness of the cracker With a butter knife, line the shape of your cracker squares. It will be easier than trying to do it while they are crispy.
  4. Dehydrate at 115 degrees for 12 hours or until desired crisp.
  5. NOTE: you may also bake them at 350 for 20-30 minutes, but be aware that you will be loosing out on those raw enzymes and nutrients.

THE TRICK: FREEZE THE PULP!!!

I found a great article on the kitchn.com on different ways to use pulp, so I’ve been playing around with those ideas as well.

I figured while we are talking raw, I’d bring up an “oldie but goodie” ;)

RAW ZUCHINNI HUMMUS
One of my all time favorite recipes! I seriously put it on everything, and dip everything in it! Lol. It’s fu**ing amazzzzeebalzzzz! I made a batch and it pairs beautifully with these little delish raw pulp crackers.

Looking for more raw ideas:
Mango salsa

Ribbon zucchini salad with snap peas and avocado

Raw zucchini fries

WHAT IM INTO AT THE MOMENT:
Super ripe slightly frozen watermelon.

Like just stick them in there for 15-20 minutes. OMGGGGGG! The most refreshing thing you will ever have!
Also would be delicious if you did that, then juiced it or blended it and made watermelon agua fresca!

Ingredients
8 cups seedless watermelon cubes

2 small packets of stevia

1/3cup fresh lime juice plus 1 sliced lime

A few sprigs mint or basil

Ice

1 1/2 cups Water

Puree watermelon in blender, or juice put it through your juicer. if you blend it, strain into bowl through fine-mesh sieve to remove most of the pulp. Stir in stevia and lime juice. Transfer to pitcher stir in 1-1/2 cups water, add some lime slices and mint ( or basil) Let it chill in the fridge & serve over ice.

Let’s be honest….this next pic preeeeetttyyyy much summarizes my summer so far, lol. Lots of fresh fruit…agua fresca, iced tea… Wine spritzers, or sometimes an ice cold beer by the pool;)
Some would say, ” does this bitch ever work!?” I just smile and say

A week of true vacation! MIAMI & NAPA.

Alright babes! It’s been wayyyyyy too long! I’ve been gone now for just over a week, I feel like I’ve been on the NON-STOP CRAZY TRAIN! A girls gotta have her vacation time, right!? Well, I promise I haven’t neglected you! I’ve been enjoying, decompressing, and gathering pics to share with y’all!

FIRST UP….MIAMI!!!!

I spent a fabulous 4 days in gorgeous Miami beach FL. with my favorite people. My family:) I left last Saturday to meet up with my folks, who had been staying at my godfathers new place at the Trump Towers. Yowwwwwzzzzzz, it is stunning. I mean……. Ridiculous. W were just a little bit north of south beach, which I actually that was better. You aren’t caught up in the crazy mess all the time.
The beaches here are like no other! Crystal blue, warm, clean, and full of fun little sandbars. Heaven, seriously. You all know…I am a total brown doggy, and lovvvveeeee the sun and ocean, so I was in fullllllll! We love miami, cuz it’s got such a Latin culture attached to it. Argentinians everywhere (my peeps) everyone is tan and wearing the hottest bikinis, the guys are super fit, the seafood is excellent, and it truly has a very traditional sense of family as well. Maybe it’s the Latin thing. Whatever it is, we freakin love it here. In fact, I’m currently trying to get my folks to retire here!!!;)

A plus to the heat… You don’t want to way anything hot, heavy or fattening. All I wanted, was fruit, salads, and fresh cold pressed juices. My first day there, I grabbed the rental, and headed to a friends juice bar in South Beach. Well. I’ve gone JUGO NUTTZO.

Jugo Fresh is a local spot serves an amazing product. Amazing raw, fresh juices and foods. It’s reputation with the locals has skyrocketed and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!

I got enough juices to last me 4 days. I wasn’t planning on juice cleansing while in Miami, but I knew my body just wanted this freshness, at least 2x a day. I love incorporating cold pressed juices in my everyday diet. Keeps me regular, hydrated, and full of nutrients while naturally detoxifying. That green juice above, was my FAVORITE! so delicious. if ever in Miami…pleaseeeeeee check it out! Jugo Fresh has something for everyone.

I made sure to fit in a workout every morning while at the Trump. I gotta tell ya.. This gym was SICK! Best part was…I was practically the only person in there every morning. “Thank you… I love having the gym to myself, byeeeeee.”

I spent 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours there quite early doing a combo of cardio and GPP workouts. Super killer. I guess it does help having that beautiful beach view while working out. Lol. ;)

This is how I did my hair every day and night we went out. A JLo bun. That’s right. My hair is a frizzy ass mess in this weather, and frankly, it’s too damn hot to wear it down. I’m kinda feelin’ it. Thoughts? I used one of those spongy circular things to make the bun look bigger and like I had more hair than I actually do. Hehe. Y’all need one. Buy on that matches your hair color. They are the bomb!

Here’s the Miami gang. This trip was FANTASTIC! it felt so great just to lay out, be with fam, and have no set plans. I’m rooting for this place, for my parents retirement. I know it’s not for another 10 years, but a girl can dream;) special thanks to my godparents;)

This was the venue. Probably the greatest place ever! Farmstead restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch. This place was nothing short of perfect. They not only had their vineyard, but also a farmers market, olive oil tasting, an organic farm attached, a gorgeous farm to table restaurant, etc, etc. wow.

The wedding was fairly small. About 80 guests made their way to St. Helena to celebrate the nuptials of Chris and Brooke. We all pretty much booked our stays through Air bnb. If you haven’t yet heard of air bnb, you need to get it together. It’s the best application for phone or iPad that helps you find rentals through private owners for a getaway. It’s amazing.
If you’ve never made your way to the wine country, and are planning on it….be aware! Hotels are really expensive! For $250 a night…you’re in a motel. yeah, I know. It was my first time there. I was shocked. Lol
Anyway, searching through the listings of private rentals, we came across this little gem:) a cute little cottage less than 1/2 a mile from the venue.

We just barely made it to the rehearsal lunch on Friday afternoon after a super long day of travel. Thank god we made it, cuz that food was unbelievable. You could immediately tell, that Brooke & Chris’ main objective for this party was to feed people food and wine they would never forget!
Delicious!!!! All of it! I took a pic of the menu, but it’s on my other camera. (Ugh. Yeah, remember..the one that won’t let me download them on the computer!)
It just kept getting better. I practically ate myself dumb on the actual wedding day! I had 4 days of super fit and clean eating in Miami, then I come to Napa, and lose my shit! Lol. How could anyone pass up homemade Mac and cheese, cheddar biscuits, pulled pork sandwiches…rib eye… The list just keeps going… Ummmmm. Oh and, I only went for a quick hungover run on Saturday morning, other than that, no workouts on this trip. ( juice cleansing as I write this) lol. Did I meant ion…I blacked out Friday night. Rare form. Goooood lord.

The big day was finally here. All gathered in Brooke’s house to get ready. Lots of hair..makeup….pictures…champagne…salads…(trying to be skinny before getting in our dresses) ;)
And crude shit talking. We turn into gross sailors when we all get together. Hilarious. Can any of you relate? I sear, it’s not that weird. Right?

Friends for life. I can’t wait to see the professional pics! I loved the idea of wearing the same color scheme but having different dresses. It really looked perfect, especially for the country vineyard look we were going for. I love that I just said “we” lol, as if I was the the one making the decisions. I mean, “they”.

What do y’all think? I would say over all, a pretty amazing week of friends, family, celebrating, and relaxing! Glad to be back home and back to my regimen. All in all, I only ate naughty for 2 days… I can make up for it;) remember… It won’t kill you to have a couple cheat meals. Enjoy it…Get over it, and recover.
