First of all, before I share a little background of these awesome beers… …Can I just say one freakin thang!?

Kirin Light offers full flavor and authentic Japanese-style beer with just 95 calories!!!

95 CALORIES! And it’s sooooo TASTY and pairs fantastic with healthier, lighter dishes.
Also for those who aren’t into light beers…also try

Kirin Ichiban which is a 100-percent malt, first-press beer with rich flavor, a smooth finish and clean aftertaste.
• Only uses the first strain of malt liquid, which means it’s truly beer at its purest.
• Pairs beautifully with traditional Japanese cuisine and modern Asian cuisine.

-Kirin Ichiban Frozen which is a draught beer topped with frozen Kirin Ichiban, using a proprietary process.
• It is an innovative way to enjoy Ichiban in Japan, and is now available in select U.S. locations.

Japanese cuisine tends to be quite light, which is great for us skinny BETCHES;) lol no, but seriously. With a clean, light meal, along with a traditional Japanese beer, you can rest easy knowing that you haven’t broke the calorie bank. I mean… Unless you eat everything tempura. No thanks.

When I received my little Kirin care package, I noticed a little booklet with yummy recipes. I was pleased to see that Kirin has partnered with celebrity chef, Candice Kumai, to bring Japanese-style beer to the growing Asian cuisine movement.

Check out Kirin’s facebook for great recipes posted by Candice
The recipes did look amazing…but we were all dying to hit up Mitsuwa (Japanese market) and pick up some really great looking sushi and sashimi fish!
We went a little nuttzzoooo……

Let me give you a little background on Kirin….
Kirin is known in Japan and all over the world as beer at its purest because of its first-press brewing process and clean taste.
• One of Japan’s oldest breweries, with a history dating back to 1888.

• Japanese custom requires never filling your own glass and never letting another’s glass get completely empty.

• In Japan, when everyone is ready to drink, they salute by saying “kanpai.”
I just really love it. I ALWAYS order a Kirin light and a small cold sake (to share of course..)when it go out to my secret special sushi spots around town;)
With only 95 cals a bottle. Ummm.. I’ll take it. Thanks.

We went full out restaurant style! Ahhhhh I’m so proud of my sushi skills y’all! Hot damn! Looks so prefeshhh, right!? Haha

But seriously…you need a super sharp knife. I was strugglin’ a bit.
We even picked up some yuzukosho, which is a Japanese citrus chili paste, and pairs delicious with sushi & sashimi.
At the table was also some, not so healthyspicy siracha mayo... Dassss right! Bomb.com.

Check out the spread! That sushi is on point! We also chard some delicious Shishito peppers
Despite the word “pepper”, they are far from spicy. They are just right paired with this food and are super easy to prepare. A party fave no doubt.
You can find these super cheap as well.

Also at the table…some jumbo shrimp sautéed in teriyaki sauce and lots of garlic, as well as traditional salted edamame.
