In At home cooking, bodybuilding, clean food, family, fitness plan, life, Never perfect, popular recipes, protein, Protein breakfast, sweets, Uncategorized, WOD On February 26, 2014 1 Comment

Happy hump day beauties!!!! Today’s post is short but sweet:) I’ve got a really SUPER DUPER EASY recipe for a pre-workout 90 calorie snack idea! for me, because I tend to workout so early in the morning, I consider this 1/2 of my breakfast. I brake up my breakfast into pre-workout & post-workout.

For example what I did this morning.

FASTED CARDIO WITH CELLUCOR HD powder.

1 1/2 BANANA PROTEIN COOKIES BEFORE WEIGHT TRAINING (killed shoulders and abs)

POST WORKOUT : 6 EGG WHITES.

This is the perfect balance or carbs for energy before lifting and protein post training.

Banana Nut protein cookies

Prep time

Cook time

Total time

Adapted from Bodybuilding.com
Serves: 9

Ingredients
  • 2 very ripe mashed bananas (I thawed previously frozen ones)
  • 1½ cup quick cooking oats or traditional. (either is fine)
  • 2 scoops protein powder. (I used 1 scoop of About Time Banana Creme, and 1 scoop of Isopure 0-carb Vanilla)
  • (optional: A small handful chopped walnuts and raisins)

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix rolled oats and protein powder well.
  3. Mash your two bananas, and add to dry mix. Mixing and mashing very well.
  4. Optional: Fold in chopped walnuts or raisins. (this will increase macros a slight bit per serving. Fat and sugar content)

Notes
90 calories per cookie WITHOUT walnuts or raisins. This is a great pre-workout snack! Remember…Carbs are good, we use them for energy before a killer workout. Protein AFTER;)

I am a huge believer in MORNING FITNESS! This silly selfie, like allll my gym selfies, are taken between 5 AM- 7 AM. YEP. I’ve always preached it. The best part about early morning workouts, your body still practically has no idea what the fuck is going on, so you could pretty much trick it into doing anything! lol. The second best thing, is that, you realllly set the tone for the rest of your day. When you start your day on the right foot, on the “fit” foot, you are less likely to binge throughout the day.
I promise you that.

LIVEFIT WEEK 1 RECAP! Food…recipes…workouts…supplements.

In abs, At home cooking, bodybuilding, clean food, fitness, fitness plan, LIVE FIT TRAINER, meal prepping, popular recipes, protein shakes, Uncategorized, weekly workout schedule, WOD On September 14, 2013 2 Comments

Coming into the end of my 1st LIVE FIT TRAINER week, I am feeling amazing!!!! Today is actually day 5, but no workouts today, so I figured I’d give you guys the lowdown on how it’s been going. I am not used to having 3 rest days in a row, but you know what?….I ain’t complaining cuz I’ve got a hunch that, that won’t be the case coming up here reaaaaaal soon. Lol. I’m gonna sit here and enjoy those 3 damn rest days. I gotta keep remembering that…whatever I was doing before wasn’t giving me the exact results I was looking for, so I’ve vowed to do it right and strict to the plan.

Phase 1 came with loads of prepping fun! I am fortunate to really love cookin’ and spending time in the kitchen, so that was no biggie what’s so ever. I am no stranger to meal prep Mondays;)
The NUTRITION during this phase is absolute key. Because some would consider this the “bulking” phase (building muscle, & no cardio), the proportions of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates that make up your daily macros is super important. I’ve come to find through my calculations and what my goals are, that my daily macros will looks like this: 40% protein, 30% carbohydrates, & 30% fats. Some don’t count their vegetable intake in their calorie counting, but I do. It counts for me.
MY FITNESS PAL is a great way to keep track of your caloric intake. At the end of your completed day, with food logged in, it will give you a % breakdown of macros. I’m totally obsessed with it. Also, it really does make you realize how wayyyyyyyyyy too many cals you were consuming before!!

20130911-132955.jpg

I’m kind of new to the “counting my macros” thing, so it took me a few days, as you’ll see, to get them spot on to where they needed to be.

20130912-194824.jpg

On this particular day, I had some calories to kill ( I love saying that) so I made my fave lil post workout recovery drink by All Pro Science. I love the blueberry ice flavor. Now with this LA heat, I crave this drink more than anything.
The great thing about this product, is that it’s made with all natural ingredients, no artificial ingredients, and no fake crap or sweeteners. It’s packed full of essential amino acids, and made with grass fed protein.
Although on the higher end with carbohydrates, it is low in sugar, and fulfills all that your body needs to recover after a grueling workout.

20130912-200037.jpg

INGREDIENTS:

1 packet Blueberry Ice APS RECOVERY

1/2 cup organic blueberries

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

Ice.

Add all ingredients into a vitamix or blender and enjoy as a summer slushie:)

20130912-200058.jpg

DAY 2:

Yeah!!!!!!! I passed the 1st day! Lol. So far, so good. I’ve been logging all exercises, supps, and caloric intake.
I can’t stress enough how IMPORTANT clean eating is to a program. Already, at day two, I woke up with some BOMB morning abs! Lol
ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN BITCHES!!! something we all struggle to get through out heads.

Day 2 , I woke up super sore from lifting, but it felt amazing. I’ve been really making sure that I stick to my schedules.
** Breakfast within an hour of waking up
**Cellucor pre-workout shortly after coffee and breakfast. ( 30-45 min before workout)
**Scivation Xtend (during and post workout) for recovery, amino acids
** 5-6 total meals a day with a caloric intake of 1500 calories a day.( this number is specifically calculated for MY lean mass, and body fat %, find YOUR number HERE.)
**very limited – none alcohol.
** Meal prepping. FAIL TO PREPARE…PREFARE TO FAIL
**take supplements

20130911-172821.jpg

Although my protein, fat, carb ratio was great…I was lacking in some calories. Skipping calories in this case with this type of program is no bueno. Just as taking in too many calories is no bueno…. Neither is taking in too little.
REMEMBER: this phase is for building muscle. If you don’t get enough food, your body will feed on that lean muscle mass that you are trying to create.

20130912-194938.jpg

DAY 4:

Got lucky with day 4′s workout! I get to do it at home!!! Yeah!!!

Anyway….on today’s food log, I switched up a few things. I can’t get bored with my food, or I lose it. So, since going a little nutzo with my bodybuilding.com order of Cellucor Whey galore, I’ve been loving playing with all the new flavors of proteins. Today’s was a delicious Molten chocolate shake. Sooooo bomb!

Here’s my “STACK”
I’ve still gotta get used to swallowin’ all these damn pills, but whatever.
S far I’m liking my “stack” but as I get a better feel of what I’m trying to achieve, then, I’ll have a better idea of what is really working, and what I really don’t need.

GLUCOSAMINE
COLLAGEN
FISH OIL
PAPAYA ENZYMES
ALPHA LIPOIC ACID
CELLUCOR HD
SCIVATION AMINO ACIDS
CELLUCOR C4
MULTIVITAMIN
CALCIUM

I am not yet taking the Cellucor HD (fat burner) but will start it in phase 2.
Still figuring out if I like the C4 for my pre-workout or if I’m gonna switch to NO Extreme

20130912-195440.jpg

Finally REST DAY!!!!

20130912-200242.jpg

For the rest of the week, I will be on my best food behavior. I’m wondering who else out there is trying out this program and is in the first phase….. I’d like to compare notes:)
When Monday comes…I will be ready to tackle the next week in phase one feeling lean and strong. Meals prepped n all!

20130912-200322.jpg

Here’s a calculation of what your rest day macros should look like.
I really hope this helps anyone who’s trying to get a jumpsart on strength training and weight loss. This regimented program has really opened my eyes!

Well, well, well…. If it isn’t already September….

20130903-121618.jpg

Hi babes! Hope everyone had a fantastic & safe Labor Day weekend;) I just can’t believe that August has already flown by! There is still absolutely NO sign of the weather cooling down. Nope. In the valleys, it’s still triple digits! I need a pool! For the holiday weekend, me and some friends decided to get outta the smoldering, desert heat, and head to the beaches of Ventura, CA.

20130903-122951.jpg

Pierpont Beach….. Amazing weather…amazing friends…and a whole lot of partying;)
Willy came along for the ride;)

20130903-122926.jpg

We got there around 11:30, and set up our spot. I got the BEST lil table that folds up from crate and barrel, that I’m completely obsessed with, and take everywhere…so we payed out all our snacks and drinks:) we started with mimosas of course, but used light Minute Maid 50% less sugar OJ instead of regular. Some more friends met up, and we moved to light beer. There’s just something so refreshing about an ice cold beer at the beach. Michelob Ultra to be exact. It’s super light, and low carb! Cheers to fun & tan lines;)

20130903-123039.jpg

Around 4:30 we headed up for a killer (&low carb) BBQ! It was amazing! Lean Jennie-O Italian sausages, marinaded chicken breast, carne asana, bell peppers, spinach salad… OHHH myyyyyyyy!
Chips & salsa…(not so low carb, but still indulged) oooooooo, and some homemade rum, vanilla liquor cake that my friend Jules had brought. A bit of a food coma set in, but, hey…it’s a holiday:) lol.

20130903-123232.jpg

Willy loosing his shit….as usual. He LOVES his beach time.

20130903-123108.jpg
After din we all headed back down to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Spectacular. Absolutely stunning.
That night, (sunday) we all went out in downtown Ventura, and had a ball. Super fun..lots of cocktails, and bar hopping. You know what that means…. Monday breakfast would be a cheat… Lol. I was dying for a rich, and delicious Blueberry Cornbread Muffin from Café Nouveau. Hands down fave breakfast joint.

20130903-123127.jpg

Well, luckily..we made it home without traffic:)
Tuesday came far tooooooo fast.
Somehow, my pretty yellow roses lived though my un-air conditioned apartment for 2 days. WTF. So happy.

20130903-123812.jpg

I woke up this morning feeling pretty defeated. I gotta tell ya, I cannot hang like I used to. My body was yelling at me for sure. I felt bloated, heavy, and lethargic. At that moment….I made some decisions.
Chill the Fu*% out…

Chill on the drinking!

I quit sugar. (Again)

Stick to low carb… ( with the exception of these healthy carbs: sweet potato (limited) squash. Tomatoes (limited) most fruits. Gluten free oats (sometimes)

Limit snacking.

(Holiday..or not!)
Listen, all of these things I’ve got to keep reminding myself, and even write down because THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME.
Start your SEPTEMBER SLIM DOWN NOW!!!!!!
Shake it off ladies. Jump back on the fit train! Today is Tuesday….the day after the holiday…lets do werrrrrk!!!!
I threw on shorts and a sports bra and looked up today’s GPP Fitness WOD.
This was a really great one. Kicked my ass.
Not too busy at work today, so I also plan to take a Corepower class around 4:30 today… Really starting to feel like myself again, after a few days of whatever the fu%*.

20130903-123937.jpg
Breakfast this morning was DA BOMMMBBBB! Doesn’t look very exciting, but it was exactly what my body was screaming for. Protein..protein..and omegas. Lol.
Work didn’t start till 11:00 am, so I had time to bake a fresh wild caught salmon:)
I made a delicious runny egg and yes, I did eat the yolk. Yummmmmm. I’m a new person.
Lately I’ve stopped using oil sprays, even the organic ones. I’m just over them. I’ve now switched to a teeny bit of coconut oil or Ghee.

20130903-124040.jpg

Oh you know…just a little selfie this fine Tuesday…. Loving my new Ray Bans btw. September is mos def lookin up;) feeling really strong and looking forward to keeping up with the decisions I’ve made.(above)

20130903-124217.jpg

Hey y’all!!! Hope everyone’s week is off to a fabulous start! Before I get into it…I must admit: 3 cheat meals last week. Omg. Ok..I’m done. Moving on:) Today is gonna be fab. Not too many plans. Seeing the dentist today…which, love him I swear…but I hate having to see him. Lol.
I spent Sunday with the folks so…sadly, I missed hitting up my usual Farmer’s Market, so I had to get my weekly dose of fresh flowers from Whole Foods. Aka: Super fucking expensive flower selection. This week, it’s white roses. Feeling like a virgin;)
Aren’t they perfect? And…they smell like heaven.
20130826-150051.jpg

Ok, so I know it’s not #flexfriday but, I had to show off my new Reebok cross fit tank!
Of course I won’t be showing it off without the hard work that comes with that shit! Lol
Show your strength ladies! C’mon;)
20130826-150114.jpg
Hit the gym early this A.M. to get in a sweaty cardio session in before having to get my mouth drilled.
I did 30 minutes of alternating resistance on the elliptical.

3 minutes @ resistance 5 / incline 9
2 minutes @ resistance 10 / incline 5
For 30 minutes
then…
15 minutes on stairmaster on “fit test”

20130826-150133.jpg

I planned to try one of these amazing 1000 calorie burning ass kickers this morning, but I ran outta time. I know.excuses…excuses.

20130826-150348.jpg

Pretty gnarly right!? I found these on Pinterest, and had to share. I’m dying to give them a try and see which way I can stand more. Ha;)
Anyway….this week,it’s on. Who’s with me!!!???
You see. My problem is never a lack of motivation to work out, it’s more my diet. I do really well for a bit, then tend to throw it all out the window for a couple days. No bueno. All that work…and sometimes for nothing. What has improved, is my guilt and self punishment. I have gotten sooooo much better at controlling the binges, and refusing to feel guilty.

I’m babbling. Give this workout a try. If this is all you do all week, then be it. Remember…just move. You’re beating everyone on the couch;)

20130826-150405.jpg

So, 10:00 A.M. Came damn quick. Ughhhhhhhh. Time for some really exciting dental work.
I have to get… Wait for it…. A CROWN!!!!! Ajhhhhhhhhh. Sick.
This is my amazing, genius dentist, Dr. Ourfalian.

Listen, I hate dental work as much as the next cry baby, but he just, absolutely makes the visit sooooo pleasant. He is very gentle, conservative & very honest. Everyone that I’ve recommended to him, has loved him.
20130826-150656.jpg
I don’t think I have good teeth genes, so I’ve really got to keep with regular 6 month cleanings, as well as flossing after every meal. Do you guys really floss after every meal? I feel like a creep for only flossing once a day. Sometimes, I even forget to do that. Omg. So bad. I started to notice that my gums would bleed when I would floss sometimes…and, that my friends…is NOT THE BUSINESS!

20130826-151727.jpg
In doing some research, I came across this. VERY interesting. Sometimes, we forget how much bacteria can enter through our mouths. Read this bit, and you will be surprised.
Heart disease…
Stroke….
Diabetes….
Holy shizzzzzzzz.
I fu*%ing hate flossing, not gonna lie, but…THERE’S HOPE! My friend told me about these and I immediately stopped at Walgreens after my appt to buy em’
NEWEST OBSESSION!

20130826-150735.jpg

The rest of the day was free. (Yeayyyyyyyy) I got home & of course, I was starving. One problem….if I tried to eat anything that required chewing, I would chew off my tongue. So, I had extra cooked oatmeal with flax milk, chia seeds, raisins, mashed figs, and protein powder.
Oh, and a fudgesicle.lol.

Since I didn’t get to my 1000 cal burning workout (above), I thought maybe I would make it to a late night yoga class.
Yep….it’s now 7:30 p.m…..haven’t been able to get off the couch from so much mouth pain.
No more anesthesia. Haha.
Hey, getting a crown is not exactly pain free kids. Wow.
Instead….I cooked the rest of the day. Making dinner and meal prepping tomorrow’s packed lunch.
I hadn’t gone grocery shopping, but I pulled out a few fridge staples, And made something sooooo yummy for dinner.

ZUCCHINI
LAUGHING COW LITE WEDGES
GARLIC
SHALLOTS

20130826-150802.jpg

It is a gorgeous day today here in sunny LA! I am sooooo stoked that I am off today, I can’t even tell you! I woke up feeling super refreshed and ready to take on the day. I managed to sleep in till 6:30. Kind of unheard of for me. No joke. Lol. No yoga this morning. I’ve got other workout plans for later;)
I met up with Haley this morning instead for a lovely lil breakfast date at Le Pain Quotidien.

20130821-144523.jpg

This place is an absolute hotspot. They have quite a few here in Cali, and I gotta say, EXTREMELY fresh food and generous portions. You can’t help but be enamored by all of the baked muffins, tartines, pastries and loaves of fresh baked breads. Ok….this is all veryyyyyy tempting to me. Ugh.
It all looks soooooo delicious! I’m a lucky girl that this place is walking distance to my house.

20130821-145115.jpg

While waiting for haley, I ordered a non-fat vanilla latte and sat outside.

20130821-144541.jpg
This is what healthy chicks do…lol. We salivate over all the baked goods, the…end up ordering egg white omelettes. Lol. Hahaha. Seems like a very simple breakfast, but you’d be surprised how many places manage to fuck this up. Also the little things reallydo count for me. For example… They set the table with fresh sea salt and fresh pepper, organic strawberry jam, and my fave, praline butter. Omggggg.

20130821-144557.jpg
After feeling pretty full, but still comfortable, I laid on the couch and studied my crazy ass choreography for my Zumba class. I’ve got a new song on the playlist that makes me loose my head! Loving this song right now!

Don Omar- Zumba

I know…it looks like an alien language. It only makes sense to me! Hahaha.
I made a racket upstairs practicing in front of the mirror. So flashdance;)

20130821-144618.jpg
10:30 A.M Zumba KILLED IT! loved seeing all my ladies! We danced our asses off. Legit cardio. My homie Rozanne made it all the way from San Diego! Sweaty Nettie’s!

20130821-144632.jpg

I had loads of energy…I forgot to mention I took a scoop full of C4 by Cellucor mixed with water before class, and I was unstoppable! Omg.
Anything that has the words “extreme” or “explosive” is bound to be fuckin GNARLY. Excuse my French. This is not something I take on a normal basis, bit it’s fun sometimes for that extra drive in your workouts. I’m sure it’s not the most “natural” product out there….but hey:/

20130821-152345.jpg
After my hour Zumba class…my adrenaline was still cray cray, so I stopped at LA Fitness and busted out today’s GPP FITNESS WOD.

20130821-144841.jpg

Check it out. It was pretty intense. I had to modify the weight and did 10 lbs instead of 15lbs.
My last round of the sets, I couldn’t step anymore. I had to do the last whole round stationary. Ahhhhh, sooo tired! Lots of child pose happening at the moment of completion. Lol

BELOW ARE THE LINKS TO EACH WORKOUT.

20130821-145022.jpg

Step down bicep curls

Step down overhead press

Step down overhead tricep ext.

CORE:

V-ups

Tick-tocks

Superman back extension

Lunch was nothing exciting to share. Plain chicken breast, a coconut flour pancake, and some veggies.

I’m trying to be super clean for the day, cuz tonight….ohhhh watch out. I’m meeting up with the girls from my old job (Sassoon) at our old stomping grounds;) Nic’s Martini Lounge. We go just a tad bit overboard on happy hour. I’m saving my naughty tummy for all those stupid delicious appetizers and wine. Hence….the double workout today. Lol. Stop judging, I know you can’t revisit a goooooood happy hour! C’mon!
Made it to Nic’s, and because of the lighting…couldn’t get a decent pic of me to save my life. This is as good as it’s gonna get y’all.

20130821-230315.jpg
Missing my assistants to the max! All dressed in black. I love it. So Gaga. These kids are amazing! Some, for two years straight assisting, just to get the chance of being a “Sassoon trained stylist or colorist. I remember those days. It was my life. Looking for people (hair models) on the street willing to get their hair cut off by an aspiring stylist. It’s a lesson in dedication, patience, and tolerance. Not easy, so.. I commend them for working as hard as they do. Now, at my new salon, not having hired an assistant yet…I am now starting to realize how much important they are for the running of the salon. In fact, I’m a bit crazed without one. Call me snobby…bu I’m used to someone being right there if I drop my comb.

20130821-230340.jpg

My Asian mob. Plus +1. They are sisters to me. The blonde on the left…well, let’s just let her think she Asian. Lol;) she loves it!

20130821-230423.jpg
We had a GREAT time! We ate and drank like cows. Like…not kidding. Not a single vegetable was served. Yeah, this pic below…..not even the 1/2 of it. Lol. All carbs. Fries…pizza..olive bread…quesadillas…shrimp cocktail..more fries… Ugh. I was sick by the end of the night. Looks like yoga at 6:30 A.M will have to be pushed back till after work. Oooops.
I’m really good at making up for it though…lol. Lots of juicing and protein for the next few days, along with back to back days of workouts. Gotta get back on it! Just because you had one really bad meal….doesn’t mean the world is over, and your fucked. It just means, you enjoyed it for that moment, and you pick it back up the next day with full motivation, strength, and without punishing yourself.

20130821-230528.jpg

Love y’all! Hope you had an amazing Wednesday! Kick Thursday’s ass!!!!!

Make these LOW CARB pancakes and GREEN juice your morning ritual!

In At home cooking, Breakfast, clean food, fitness, hike, new faves, popular recipes, protein, skinny grocery list, SPARTAN SPRINT, Uncategorized, willy, WOD, yoga On August 21, 2013 2 Comments

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It’s been a FABULOUS day today, I must say….I’m absolutely loving my new job at Román Salon!
This morning I didn’t have a client till 11 am, so I took full advantage;) I woke up to my 5:45 A.M. iPhone alarm, thinking I would catch the 6:00 A.M. Hotyoga class at corepower, but instead, I decided to leave that for the evening and take a morning hike:)
Of course I woke up with a rumbling hungry tummy (as I always do) so, I quickly whipped up some super clean ( & low carb) coconut flour/banana pancakes. Here’s the recipe.

MAKES 8 SMALL PANCAKES

8 tbsp coconut flour

1/2 packet of stevia

7 egg whites

2 large eggs

1/2 mashed banana

Dash of cinnamon (optional)

NOTE: they cook pretty fast on a greased skillet, soooo, watch em’
I topped them with a little sugar free honey & figs:)

20130820-201239.jpg
I always make sure I’ve got these key items within arms reach. Here’s a fitchick’s pantry:

** COCONUT FLOUR
** ALMOND FOUR
** VANILLA (ALL NATURAL) PROTEIN POWDER
** EGG WHITES
** EGGS
** FROZEN/FRESH BANANAS
** STEVIA
** PB2
** GLUTEN FREE OATS
** 0% GREEK YOGURT
** UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK
** FLAX MEAL
** ORGANIC CACAO POWDER
** CHIA SEEDS
** RAW NUT BUTTERS

These are usually my go-to baking products. All of these are available at your local health food market, so stock up your pantry, and get to playing and testing in that kitchen of yours! Staying on track of your healthy habits has never been so easy or delicious! Honestly, my substitutions for naughty breakfasts has kept me very satisfied, and I never feel as though I’m “missing out”. Get me?

Before heading out on my morning hike to Fryman Canyon, I made my morning green juice which consisted of the the following:

* 1 big Swiss chard leaf

* 4 Dino kale leaves

* 3 big romaine leaves

* a handful of parsley

* 2 stalks celery

* 1 small Persian cucumber

* fresh ginger

* fresh turmeric

* 1/2 green apple

* 1 lemon
I also have been adding some new faves to the mix:

**whole aloe juice

**chlorophyll
I have really been feeling the difference when having one of these in the morning.

20130820-201859.jpg

It’s been such a hectic couple of weeks, that my folks offered to babysit Willy for this week, and I couldn’t be more greatful. I’m sorry, but having a pup with severe separation anxiety can be really stressful. I always feel so bad when I can’t be with him all the time. It stresses me out thinking about it frankly. So, luckily…he LOVES going to his grandparents house. Ugh…does it make me a bad mommy that I need a break????:(
Mom, sent me a pic of willy this morning. Look at him!!! Sooo happy! She took him to the park, and he ran wild!

(Awe…now I miss him)

20130820-201335.jpg

Although pretty foggy still out, the hike was awesome! I would say, the loop ties about an hour all together. It’s a nice balance of uphill/downhill. If your into hiking, or even trail running/racing….you have GOT to get these trainers! They are so lightweight and fit like a dream. Oh, and no laces;) the Saloman Speedcross 3′s are THE ONLY SHOE TO BUY!!

I like seeing shoes worn and dirty. Gives them life.

20130820-201305.jpg

By now, 8:30 am, I’ve still got an hour to kill before hopping in the shower. God I love this schedule!
Anyway, as you know….the weakest part of my body is my core. I remembered that last night, I had received my Spartan Race WOD email, and I was alllllllllll AB intense, so I threw my tired ass on the floor and started crunching, twisting, lifting, you name it…I was doin’ it. Lol.
Ok….now I’m DONE!

Y’all should try this one out. Get your Spartan WOD emails now!

20130820-201450.jpg

Had a really great day at work. Was fully booked from 11-4, then came home:) a little weird coming home to an empty house. I’m used to Willy crying and jumping up like a crazy for 45 minutes after I walk through the door. Lol.

I almost didn’t know what to do with myself being off so early. I’m used to not getting home till 7 on Tuesdays.
I had a quick snack and headed to CorePower for a 6:00P.M. Hot Power Fusion class. Although a bit tired, I felt really strong in today’s class.

20130820-201718.jpg

I literally walk out of there dripping. As if I just got out of the shower. It’s so crazy. I tried to take a pic of how sweaty I was, but it really doesn’t suffice. In fact, this is a pretty dumb picture. Lol
Mmmmmk.

20130820-201749.jpg
I was starved after class, so I reheated some leftover baked salmon, and through it over a big salad. Omg, I just can’t get enough salmon these days. For dessert, I ate another one of those delicious pancakes from this morning. I couldn’t help it. Totally obsessed.
I’m actually in a bit of a food coma right now as I write this, so please excuse my grammatical errors and bad language, I swear, it’s my body telling me to shut the f*%k up and go to bed;)

Before I pass the EFF out, I am super excited about what I recently got in the mail!! Eeeeeeeeeeweeaaaaa, I love my friends at APS. (Allproscience) They have sent me some super sweet samples of recovery to try out. I’m super active, and just as important as fueling your body before a workout is, so is RE-fueling your body after. These are 100% natural, and have no artificial sweeteners. I am so feeling that. I seriously hate gimmicks. These peeps give to ya straight. I’ve had some great success with there GRASS FED WHEY PROTEIN in the past, so I’m excited for their new stuff. Check out my recipes using ALL PRO SCI grass fed whey.

In Breakfast, Dinner dates, fitness, friends, GPP FITNESS, hike, popular recipes, sassoon, Uncategorized, WOD On June 11, 2013 1 Comment

Hello lovelies!! Sorry I’ve been a bit MIA on the posts lately, but life has been super busy. I know, no excuses! Well, at least I make it a really great one when I do. I’ve got some amazing recipes coming up in the next week, so please be on the lookout;)

My favorite posts are always the ones on Tuesdays:) as you know, I LOVE MONDAYS, so this is my time to recap all the fun and beauty of my perfect day. Along with a few other things!

MONDAY:
Exhibit A:

Favorite flowers. PEONIES:)
$6.99 for a bunch at Trader Joe’s
Freakin gorgeous and smell devine.

20130610-222649.jpg

I’ve been playing around with baking using protein powder lately (I am loving this one) and since I wake up so inhumanly early, I decided to whip something up.
I was attempting to make berry protein muffins using my new fave protein powder….and ummmmm…. My dumb ass forgot to grease the muffin tins…

20130610-222759.jpg

EPIC FAIL.
Sooooo pissed! These were actually really tasty, but I couldn’t even fake a good picture! Ughhh.
So, I’ve decided to hold on the recipe until further notice. Lol

20130610-222819.jpg

After scarfing down a couple of those muffins, I needed to move my body… I grabbed my iPad to check my WOD on GPP Fitness.

Aces & Eights

AMRAP in 30 min: (AMRAP=as many rounds as possible)

800 m run
15 pullups
15 pushups (strict)
15 burpees
15 situps

My friend and I decided that was just too beautiful of a morning to not hit the mountain for a hike. This would be the “cardio” portion of my day. This amazing spot, little did I know, is location 10 freakin minutes from my house! WTF! How have I never been here!? 20130610-223113.jpg

This hidden gem is called Franklin Canyon. Easy to get to but not crowded. The BEST! If you live near, you need to go…btw, make sure to come to a COMPLETE stop at the stop sign, they will send you a ticket in the mail. Say cheese!;)

We took Willy, who chased absolutely everything. So annoying, but he needed to get his workout in. There were lizards, squirrels, ducks, rabbits…..
20130610-223148.jpg

And then…we found this little guy!!!
Poor baby got stuck on the other side of the fence and was trying to climb up it. Aweeeeeeee.
20130610-223209.jpg

I never knew how much I loved turtles! We got him to the other side.:)
20130610-223227.jpg

This place is stunning! I felt like I was, I don’t know…..somewhere definitely OTHER than LA! For sure going back. It wasn’t the type of hike that was not too strenuous, but we still got our sweat on. We power walked the shit outta that place! Lol
20130610-223308.jpg

Around 11 am, we headed to one of our local favorite breakfast spots, Sweet Butter. In Sherman Oaks, on Ventura. We sat at one of the outdoor tables, and enjoys iced lattes:)

20130610-223815.jpg

Check out their sweet little courtyard. I loved what they wrote:) I think they change it everyday.

20130610-223834.jpg

I ordered a bomb ass veggie omelette… Egg whites filled with roasted corn, and chard roiled asparagus, yellow squash, and tomatoes. Obsession. Yes, I ate the grain toast…and it was perfect!
20130610-223905.jpg

Our spread….our friend Yasuna met up with us. So, no…. It wasn’t just the two of us gettin’ down on 3 platefuls of food. Lol.
But…..girl gurrrrl was hungrrrryyyy!

20130610-223926.jpg
20130610-224009.jpg

It’s 12:30.. And that is a skinny 5 calorie margarita in my hand, duh. It’s freakin summer.

Finally I am getting some much needed VITAMIN D! It ended up damn hot in the valley, and luckily my girlfriend’s got a pool in her complex;)
I’m dying for a bit of color!
20130610-224032.jpg

We laid out..jumped in the pool a bunch, drank Margie’s, read the latest food and health mags, and munched on fresh berries, grapes, and nectarines. Honestly, couldn’t have ask for more this Monday. As I flipped through the pages of Martha Stewart Living, whilst burning my buns, I stopped at this page, and gawked.

How amazing does this spread look!
That’s it….I’m inviting the Amigas over for dinner…
And this is what I will attempt;)
20130611-083425.jpgVIOLA!
I mean…..this is my favorite way to eat. A little of this..a little of that…
I didn’t have all those things in the pic, but I ad-libbed.
Here she is..in all her glory;)
20130610-224111.jpg

The girls brought over 2 super stinky and amazing cheeses over. ( I’m gonna need Renew Life Probiotics tomorrow:/)
* truffled Gouda
* and some triple cream amazing -ness.
I will tell you now…the three of us almost finished off two blocks of damn cheese. #nowillpower.

20130610-224151.jpg

This is a great and easy way to entertain! Thanks Martha!
I put this together in no time! Pretty much ransack your fridge….and platter that shit.lol.

Here’s what we’ve got here:

* Hard boiled eggs

* Salami

* Romaine drizzled with blood orange olive oil, champagne vinegar, and pecorino.

* Green Spanish olives

* Leftover lemon, thyme, garlic baked salmon

* Leftover grilled peppercorn pork

* Pesto Zucchini, avocado salad

* Roasted mini red, orange, and yellow peppers

* Sautéed baby Broccoli with crushed garlic and olive oil.

OMGGGGGG….. never have I ever. Yummmmmmm
20130610-224225.jpg

This dinner was special! Yasuna, (on the left) has finally passed her creative presentation! That is how it works when working for Sassoon. Once you qualify as a stylist ( apprenticeship can be 1 1/2 yrs- 2 1/2 yrs) you then, 6 months later, have to come up with a “Final” creative presentation.
* 10 models
* 10 looks ( creative)
* theme
* Wardrobe
* Make up

This is not an easy task. Finding models on the street that are willing to let you do whatever you want to their hair is HARD! oh, and did I mention, for no pay! Yeah, very hard to pull off. This process pretty much takes over your life for a good chunk of time.

20130610-224248.jpg

This is us celebrating her getting her life back! Lol. Food…and wine…and movie night;)
We snuggled up and watched The Perfect Host…um, a bit disturbing.
This is how my night ended….
My froyo obsession got to me again!:/

When sick…I stick to FIT.

In At home cooking, Beauty, Breakfast, clean food, fitness, fitness plan, giveaway!, GPP FITNESS, new faves, Uncategorized, WOD On June 4, 2013 1 Comment

Well….it’s Monday. My day off. Sick as a dog. Ugh. I’ve been sick since Saturday when I woke up feeling like I got hit by a truck. I am not one to try and heal holistically….. I love all that stuff, but truthfully…I need the whatever the hell is gonna cure me the fastest. This chick cannot get sick. Too much to do! I can rest when I’m dead;) lol. Ok, just kidding. I’m not that crazy, but I am not opposed to over-the-counter meds to cure the average flu-like symptoms. I use my vitamins and stuff ore for preventative measures:)

Last night I stayed the night at my folks house. You know how it is when you’re sick….there’s nothing better than Mom and Dad catering to your every sicky girl request. “Mom, can you bring me water?” “Mom, can you finish the laundry I brought:(?” Lol. Sad, but true. I am such a mommy/daddy girl still at almost 30 damn years old.

So when I woke up cozy at the rents house after probably 12 hrs of “passed the eff out” sleep, I felt sooo much better.

This is what crossed my mind…..

20130603-170430.jpg

I don’t remember the last time someone brought me breakfast in bed….but God,that is a delight! Thanks Mami;) luckily mom had the day off, so we both snuggled and had breakfast in bed while watching Disappeared on A&E. You know, chick stuff.

BREAKFAST:

was egg white and spinach scramble
And a side of homemade FLAX toast with sugar free preserves.
Oh, and not to forget….my coffee of course. I used my favorite almond milk. 30 calorie SILK frothed with a packet of NuNaturals stevia.( Get a FREE sample here.)

20130603-170535.jpg

I really didn’t want to start feeling shitty today, so I took my favorite “any kinda sick” go to. THERAFLU.

20130603-170901.jpg

I finally rolled my ass outta bed, gathered all my crap from moms and headed back home to good ol’ Sherman Oaks. Once I handled some calories and payed bills, I felt we’ll enough to hike Fryman Canyon for a hike with the pup. It wasn’t super hot out today, so I figured he could stand it, besides, mama carries loads of water for him. ;) He drinks more than me. Tisk. Tisk.

20130603-170939.jpg

I worked up a good sweat to the top. All uphill, and somehow my freshly washed hair, still in tact.
A gorgeous day out. I let willy off the leash, and he plopped down in the shade for a photo op;) as you all know, I get hungry at the first sign of physical exertion, so I made sure to pack a yummy PROBAR for when I got to the top.

20130603-170956.jpg

20130603-171055.jpg

I felt like a new person after lunch. This is why I love to eat every couple of hours. Small meals of course. My energy levels stay leveled. if I wait to long…one of two things happens. I feel totally fatigued….or I binge like a fool. So, I opt for the lighter meals, more often.

Since returning from my awesome blend retreat in Utah, you all know that I’ve become a proud advocate of GPP Fitness. I make sure to check their website every single day for my workouts, inspiration, questions I may have, etc.

Today’s workout

…and you best believe I took my ass on to the gym. I felt we’ll enough. I am pushing through. Trust me, I know my body, I wouldn’t have done it if I was weak.

6 days of workouts with SUNDAYS OFF. I also include 3 days of intense/moderate cardio. ( 2 of those cardio days being ZUMBA)
If I can do this…

SO CAN YOU.

REMINDER TO ALL MY AMIGAS!

Do NOT feel intimidated at the gym. Weights are not only for men! I promise…once you get in there, and release that fear, you will become sooooo empowered!

I grabbed all the equipment I needed, found space in the aerobic room and began my workout.
HOLY HARD!!!! This workout all together was maybe 30 minutes long, but AS EFFECTIVE as being in the gym 1 hour 15 min. This is what interval training looks like. Get in.. Do the work… And get out.

My essentials:
My gymboss interval timer.
My new Ryka high top performance shoes.
A list of my GPP work for the day.

20130603-171140.jpg

As I’m writing this….I roasted delicious veggies for dinner:)
Yellow squash
Carrots
Onions
Baby peppers
Tossed in EVOO, garlic powder, salt & pepper, and Italian seasonings.
@ 375 for approx 40 minutes or longer if you like it more caramelized.

MEMORIAL DAY RECAP<3

In bbq, blend retreat, fashion, fitness, get the look, giveaway!, GPP FITNESS, new faves, popular recipes, protein shakes, Uncategorized, WOD On May 28, 2013 3 Comments

Happy Tuesday beauties!! Hope y’all had a fabulous day off celebrating Memorial Day;) I already have Mondays off, so nothing too out of the ordinary for me. Gym, as usual, a bit of bbqin’, and a LOT of laying around doing nothing but watching movie after movie. I never do hat. It was fab!
I’ve been obsessing over how beautiful my peonies have bloomed, so I must share. They were having a sale at whole foods the other day, $8.99 for 6 stems. Egggggzactly! You best believe, I stocked up.

20130528-122718.jpg

Monday was a bit of a recovery day for me. Sunday was jam packed. We hosted our bestie’s bridal shower, which was SOOOO FUN, but not joking….lots of wine, champagne, sangria…..oh andddddd chips and salsa.;) oops

20130528-122902.jpg

My white peonies…. I’ve finally learned how to keep them fresh and lasting….
SNIP ENDS EVERYDAY
CHANGE WATER EVERYDAY
KEEP AWAY FROM TOO MUCH SUNLIGHT
ADD A PINCH OF SUGAR

20130528-122928.jpg

I will be sharing the post soon of the bridal party shenanigans, but until then, here’s a sneak peak of part of the dessert options..
sugar-free chocolate covered strawberries. YUMMMMMMMMMZIESSSS

Super simple and much healthier than traditional choco-covered strawberries. Give it a try.

1st:
Rinse fruit and let completely dry

2nd:
in a med bowl, mix 3 tbsp melted coconut oil
1/3 cup 100% cacao powder ( I used raw/organic)
1 tsp vanilla bean paste or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 drops stevia
Pinch of salt

3rd:
Place on parchment paper and into the fridge they go to set.

20130528-123112.jpg

Yesterday started off with a trip to the gym. The plan of attack:
GPP FITNESS amazing-NESS!
Yeah, I know…WTF. First thing in the morning….yes fasted.
Homegirl needed to burn off some of that alcohol and chips from Sunday!
20130528-144436.jpg

Sporting my new Strut This tank. A lil fitmixer in my blender bottle, and I’m ready to sweat.

20130528-123214.jpg

That’s right….you take a full deck of cards with you to the gym or you could also do this at home, find a nice space where you can jump and run around like a crazy, and do one card at a time.

20130528-123257.jpg

My warmup was 20 minutes on the stair master on “INTERVALS”. Got my heart rate up and my body sweatin’.
I headed to the mats where there was also a long “runway” for my sprints.
So, whoever the F*%k last shuffled these cards was a Mother Trucker, cuz I kept getting burpee after burpee card, like it was my J.O.B! Ughhhhhhh I was dying.

I switched up my jokers from 400 meter run to sprints.
Also switched aces from 10 reps to 50 jumping jacks.

Yep, that’s right, you don’t stop until you finish the deck of cards. This workout is fantastic to try with clients for time. It’s a full body workout, and trust me, you really burn does muscles out.
When I finished… I was sweating bullets, panting, and completely flushed. Super proud of my motivation, geez.
I looked like I was training for the Olympics or something, lol, to the point where one of the trainers comes up to me and says, “Hi, I’m Mario, sorry to bother you but….what are you doing? Are you an athlete?
Ummmm…” LOL, no…but I like to train like I am.
I was so happy to share with him my new obsession with GPP fitness.

Check out sweaty Nettie after that workout!!! This is my fat crying! ;)

20130528-123349.jpg

I could NOT wait to get home and devour this Vega Sport Chocolate Protein shake! I’ve been wanting to try this for a while, so I was stoked when Vega hooked it up for the swag bags at blend retreat! Yipeeee. It was like drinking melted chocolate ICE CREAM! Holy delicious! I’m sad I only had 2 packets:(

20130528-123510.jpg

Mid day snack…Blueprint Green juice. It’s super yummy, but I gotta say…I’m hungry again in about 3 seconds. Hmmmmm.

20130528-123547.jpg

So….pre-lunch (movie) appetizer…. And no, this wasn’t all for me chicks. Lol. A lil midday wine to celebrate the holiday, don’t judge. It was far past noon.;)

20130528-123658.jpg

I discovered a new favorite cheese y’all!!!! And……you can find it even at Ralph’s! It’s called Beecher’s Handmade (from Seattle) OOOOOMMMMMGGGGGGG
It’s a semi-hard cows milk cheese. A little sharp, aged for 15 months. So bomb. We also enjoyed a fabulous bottle of wine. Acacia “A” Pinot noir is my latest find. For around $15 it’s a great bottle that’s soft on the palate. This particular one has nots of raspberry, black cherry, slightly sweet but a bit peppery. Oooohhhhhweeeeee, really lovely.

20130528-123812.jpg

Actual lunch was simple, fresh, and clean.
Mixed baby greens tossed in orange olive oil w/ muscat champagne vinegar, along with some BBQ turkey breast fresh off the grill. Gotta balance it out right!?

20130528-123920.jpg

The following are a few of my favorite new items. Of course, I can’t leave the store without picking up something new.
The Good Belly is:
*all natural
*organic
*20 billion live and active probiotic cultures in a serving.
*dairy free, soy free, & vegan

20130528-163319.jpg

20130528-162157.jpg

A much as I’m not such a huge fan of protein bars, except the occasional quest bar, sometimes, you really just need a grab and go, right? This isn’t a meal replacer, I cannot handle those. ( I’m a hungry girl) this is a perfect snack!
The SIMPLY Bar is only:
* 160 calories
* 10 net carbs
* 16 grams of protein
* 4 grams of fat
* only 3 grams sugar.

Another one of their products I LOVE…. SIMPLY PROTEIN CHIPS holy cow, I tried these at the blend retreat, and I’ve been trying to get my hands on more ever since!

I can’t wait to meet all of these amazing chickies that I’ve gotten to know through all sorts of social media, finally, in person;) you know who ya are!;) This weekend, is not only filled with fun outdoor activities, but also a great source for networking, ideas, and getting to know each other better. I will be rooming with a few girls , authors of some awesome blogs!
Steph at www.wholesomebydesign.com
Meg at www.runfitkin.com
Lindsey at www.runstretchrepeat.com
Cant wait to share this coming weekend’s activities!

For now, let me introduce you to my Monday;)
Maybe one of my favorite days of the week… I started off having a wonderful mbreakfast outdoors at Aroma tea and coffee, located in quaint Tujunga village, Studio City. To my honestly, there is nothing better than having a really great meal while sitting outside. I take people watching verrrrrrry seriously.
20130513-210430.jpg

The menu is VAST, I opted for the lighter fare. I wanted everything that damn place had to offer, an AMAZING clean menu. I went for a powerhouse breakfast that consisted of…tender charbroiled chicken breast, fluffy egg whites, with a side of 9 grain toast, and freaks fruit. It was heaven on a platttttttta!

20130513-210504.jpg

Enjoyed an iced coffee with unsweetened almond milk, and a bit of stevia. Most restaurants only have Splenda as an alternative, but yes, I DO carry around a lil dropper bottle of stevia with me…in my purse…everywhere that I go. Don’t judge. I ate that breakfast like it was my J.O.B. I put in werrrrk. Yum-MY!
Oh, and please do excuse my tired eyes, apparently didn’t realized I was gonna be in the “food” shot. Lol.

20130513-210525.jpg

Meet Diego…. The bulldog of all bulldogs. Such a cutie;) he’s ready for Monday Funday! For now, he’s just tied up to my chair, sniffin around, lookin’ allllll cute n’ shit. Lol;)

20130513-210546.jpg

And so we we drove…..
Ended up at Malibu State Park for a late morning hike. It was a stunning view, although, I didn’t expect it to be that dry out. I still think we went the wrong way. Someone told me I should have seen a creek and swim hole…yeah, never once saw a drop of water, and Diego’s paws were getting RAW from the heat. Last thing on earth you want happening…. A bulldog overheating. Probably a bad idea seeing that it was 105 degrees out. Dumbass.com.

20130513-215207.jpg
Poor baby was seeking shelter under trees for signs of shade. After 15 min we turned around, and said ” I think it’s time for the beach.”
Here comes the babe….
20130513-215259.jpg

Headed north on the PCH, looking for a signs of “dog beach”, which technically…there are none. S annoying. We ended up at Leo Carrillo. Apparently, the further north you travel up the coast, the more lenient on dogs being allowed onto the sand. Who knew….
I wish willy could’ve been there, but he stayed at my parents house, cuz I knew I was leaving outta town, and wouldn’t have been able to drop him off any other day. ( they don’t live around the corner, you see..) SADFACE. He would have loved it. I OWE him:)
It was a bit windy, but sunny and perfect. The waves, super cute in size. Actually we were able to catch some kids RIPPING! love watching surfers.

20130513-210605.jpg
The running around didn’t stop there, oh yes, the fun continued;) met up with some friends at The Parlor in Hollywood for some sports watchin’ and margarita drinkin’;) skinny of course;)
Me and my Amiga.. Dianne, head colorist at Sassoon. So glad she’s back in LA!
Early bday celebrations! Her Birthday is in 2 days! Yeayyyyyyy.
20130513-210621.jpg

Lunch was the BOMB! you wouldn’t think that a sports bar would have such quality food, but guess what…. My god. This salad was OUTRAGEOUS. Steak, greens, grilled veggies, pine nuts, and goat cheese. Um..byeeeee.
20130513-210639.jpg
Therest of Monday night was suer mellow. The sun tends to really wear me out. I went home early to catch up on some work, and practically passed out on the couch. Exhausted:)

So here we are…it’s Tuesday night, and I’ve got some fantastic news!
I took Sandy’s super packed ZUMBA class tonight, and to all of our surprise……
20130514-221619.jpg

Studio City Lululemon suprised her at the end of class with ” WILL YOU BE OUR AMBASSADOR!???? WTF!!!

20130514-221637.jpg
Ahhhhhhhhhh. We were all freaked out, amazed, happy, emotional, all of it.
She is an absolute mentor, and inspires me everyday, as well as soooo many others. What an honor! We love you Sandy! W were all sweaty, and disgusting…crying all over the place, lol. Such chicks! Get ready for SCFITNESS to come with it!

20130514-221659.jpg

Tonight’s class was on FIRE! 35 of us dancing our booties off, and I swear to you, I’ve NEVER sweat that much in my life. Literally, my soaked ponytail was whipping sweat onto everyone behind me. Ugh, I’m sorry girls. Good thing, was we were all that way. Lol.

20130514-221718.jpg

Sweaty SELFIE time!
20130514-221736.jpg

My legs are now jello, I need a serious shower, and I gotta get some inspiration for a new song and dance for my A.M. Class tomorrow…..
20130514-221748.jpg

I’m thinking a lil’ Daddy Yankee “Limbo”… What do y’all think? Such a fun song! Time to get some rest friends!

QUESTION OF THE DAY:

What are your WORKOUT GOALS for next week?

(psssst….Write them down…I swear it helps;)

HAPPY TUESDAY TO ALL MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS! I am feeling super inspired today! I feel like a new person;) I spent the weekend in Ojai, CA with mom, and had such a great time! Although fighting a terrible cold, I made sure to take plenty of supplements and suck it up. Getting a quick, relaxing weekend away, was just what the doc ordered. I got some serious sun. I look like a dirty face, no lie, we hiked, got massages, and enjoyed yummy healthy food:) I feel a bit cleansed really. There were some things that weren’t quite sitting well with my heart, that now feel settled.
I’m looking at things in a new light, and realized that it’s time to MAN UP. Lol. Life is too short.

As most of you fabulous fit folks already know…. Monday marked the FIRST day of my 50 day clean eats/no cheats challenge, and so far, I am AMAZED at how many friends are participating! Sometimes, we all need a lil kick start! Right? Duh. Soooooooo, this is why I’ve started this. I am an EXTREMIST. Always have been, it’s my nature. So, when I fall off, I need someone to sit me down and say, “alright, stop fucking around, and stop being a cheater”. This is precisely why I started this. I LOVE a good challenge. I’m competitive with myself, so this will drive me to stay on track, and all my lovely friends are inspiring me to continue on the journey!

Ok, so originally, I was set to do 100 days.. Buttttttttt, I realized my best friends wedding was just under that, so that obviously wasn’t going to work, now was it!? Lol
50 days sounded perfect. Not too crazy. Although, most of my meals tend to be clean, I am the queen of binging on a cheat day. Not cute. So NO MORE CHEATS FOR ME! We all know “cheat meal” is a trigger word.

20130423-090516.jpg

I wanted to share some of the meals my instagram friends have been sharing. Make sure to follow me on instagram for constant support, recipes, and clean ideas:)

This morning I woke up like a champ! Ready to get my sweat on! I was gonna hit the gym but instead I opened my emails and saw that I got my latest post from MYFITSTATION, a blogger I religiously follow, in which she shared some amazing workouts that I NEEDED to try. So, I got my ass in front of that mirror, got out my kettlebell, my gym-boss trainer and tried each lane of these power house workouts. AMAZING!

20130423-091319.jpg

I am totally loving these workouts. Try each one and see which works best for you. Switch em’ up, repeat them, whatever. The best past, is that you can do these pretty much anywhere you have a little room. ;) In my case, in my bedroom;)
I hope they don’t mind that I’m sharing these on my blog, but they were just too good to not post.
I set my gym-boss ( best lil FIT tool out there) to 30 sec work + 10 sec rest. For 10 sets. Then, I would restart the boss back at set one when I started the following workout.

Ok, now…for the best part;)
Time for some foodporn. All this talk of working out has got me hannnnnnnnngryyyyy!
I am so craving this RIGHT NOW! I am a HUGE lover of banana bread, but typical banana bread is full of carbs and sugar, which is not the business for my FROM FRIES TO FIT 50 CLEAN EAT/ NO CHEAT CHALLENGE(follow my insta), sooooo, I’ve come up with my own clean ass, delicious version!

20130423-114952.jpg

HALLELUJAH for this recipe. I would scarf the whole thing down, but I’m trying to practice self-control. A slice for breakfast and a slice for dessert;) week. Absolute new obsession. Tis guilt-free recipe will blown you away! It’s BANANAS!

20130423-115203.jpg

Please do not expect some dry ass “healthy tasting” bread. This is seriously moist and perfect. You will wanna roll your eyes in utter satisfaction with every bite. I’ve finally perfected this. Ahhhhh, I’m so stoked! Even more excited to share with all of you FIT foodies;)

Total time

A delicious GUILT FREE banana bread that is low carb, gluten free, and full of healthy OMEGAS and Protein!

  • 2 lrg eggs

  • ¾ tsp salt

Instructions
  1. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.

  5. Combine bowls and mix together.
  6. Add batter to the pan, and bake for 35 mins or until the toothpick comes out clean.

Notes
Keep in mind… To calculate to proper amount of net carbs: Subtract fiber from carbs to calculate. In this case, the NET carbs are 8. (14 carbs minus 6 fiber.) Carbs that come from fiber do not affect blood sugar/insulin/glucose levels. Enjoy Fit Friends!!!!

20130423-115535.jpg

From sweet to savory…..thought I’d balance us out a bit. The following are some super healthy meal ideas that have become staples in my hizzle.
First: RAW NORI WRAPS
These are super fun. You can stuff with any of your favorite veggies!
The ones I made last night for my meal prep weren’t fully raw( a touch vegan) but still full of amazing nutrition.

20130423-115901.jpg
I stacked all my ingredients on one side and used my sushi roller to make the perfect wrap.

20130423-120023.jpg

In this wrap:

avocado

alfalfa sprouts

kale

almond vegan cheese

hummus

parma nutritional yeast

braggs liquid aminos

hot sauce

These are fantastic for packed lunches. Another option, if you’re not a fan or nori, is soy paper or swiss chard leaves make for great wraps. Really low in calories and nothing but clean and nutritious.

20130423-120106.jpg

Here’s my dinner GO TO!

Miracle noodles!

The healthiest pasta you will EVER consume.

Shirataki noodles are the ultimate substitute. They fill up your tummy as if you were actually stuffing your face with an actual full plate of REAL pasta:) OK, maybe not exactly like it, but hell, for 20 calories instead of 300, I’LL TAKE iT! They take on whatever flavor you add to them, and they are full of fiber.

20130423-120153.jpg

Once out of the bag, you may notice a strange smell. Not to worry, stick in a colander, rinse thoroughly under warm running water and we’re ready to roll. Some folks like to flash boil them, that’s cool too, but, AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME 4 DAT.

Moving on…

20130423-120226.jpg

In a hot skillet, add a tbsp of EVOO, add noodles, season with garlic & salt. Maybe even a bit of basil or oregano. We are not trying to cook them here…they are already cooked, we are simply adding flavor and heating them up with the seasonings.

In a separate small saucepan, add your tomato sauce. I love this brand.

20130423-120301.jpg

Transfer the noodles to a bowl, pour your marinara on top, sprinkle with fresh parmesan and VIOLA!!

20130423-120924.jpg

Serve HOT! HELLO HEALTHY!! Dinner is served.

Roll it up…… and dinner is served.

20130227-121926.jpg

I had to miss my ritual of Tuesday night Zumba unfortunately, cuz I had to do a housecall. womp wommmmmmp, but I made sure to go to sleep early, and get a goodnight’s rest.

This morning was a KILLER FASTED CARDIO SESH.

I literally opened my eyes, put on my gym clothes still half asleep (made sure it was early enough for my brain to not quite comprehend what was happening) I headed straight to the gym. It was 5:30 a.m. HELL YESSSS.

OK, so here is the latest with my workouts… 2x a week, I am trying to work in a fasted cardio session in the early A.M. .I mean, with NOTHING in my belly. Just water. There is some controversy to this method, and that is precisely why I am trying it…to be able to tell you all if it’s even worth it. Here is the PRO version. ….Here is the CON version

This morning was 45 minutes of elliptical intervals. I was surprised at how much energy I had, especially with no food inside my tummy. Kinda felt like a beast. Ugh love when that happens.Don’t know bout ya’ll, but…. I’m tryin’ to get ready for bikini season!

Ok, enough with the eats…Back to fitness. It’s now 4:00 p.m. and I’ve got abs on the mind;) I’ve been doing some research online trying to find some inspiration for upcoming gym days, and I’m SOOO STOKED, because, #1: I found my new FAVORITE core move, #2: I’ve become Jillian Michaels obsessed, and #3: I am now gonna become that creep who’s dancing on the treadmill at 5:30 a.m. at the gym. That’s right chicks. No shame. Whatever makes me sweat, and shows me results, I’m gonna do.

#1:

I found this during my daily bloglovin reads. Popsugar.

Get ready, this one’s a doooooozy!

3 sets of 10!

It’s a challenging move that truly pays off. You use the abs as you pull the knees to your chest, and as you lower the legs back down, the abs work to keep the torso stable. Plus, just hanging from the bar works the arms and upper back quite nicely.

20130227-144836.jpg

Start by hanging on a pull-up bar with palms facing out, or use the hand grips on the cable-pulley machine. Do use a box if you need help reaching the bar. Pull your shoulder blades down your back to keep your shoulders away from your ears. You will be working your lats to keep your scapulae (shoulder blades) stable.
Exhale, pulling your abs to your spine as you raise your knees to your chest. Tuck your pelvis under, rounding your low back, to ensure the low abs are working more than the mighty hip flexors.
Lower the legs down slowly and return to the starting position. Do keep your abs engaged to prevent your legs from swinging behind you.
To prevent momentum from assisting the leg raise, pause in the starting position for a moment before beginning the next rep.
Do three sets of 10 to 12 reps.
Are you a fan of hanging knee tucks?

Weekend MASH-UP<3

In abs, At home cooking, circuit, clean food, polar, popular recipes, protein, protein shakes, skinny grocery list, Uncategorized, Viamix, WOD On February 26, 2013 4 Comments

Hope everyone enjoyed this beautiful weekend! One of my besties came in from New York and I couldn’t have been happier to see him;) it was a pretty mellow weekend, but I had to get a lot done. You know, the usual… Gym..laundry…haircuts…cook..visit the folks…Sunday morning, I started with a fasted morning mostly cardio workout.

Took my L-CARNITINE (empty stomach)
BCAA+g mixed in water for during and after workout.

I’ve been trying to work on the abs more lately. They’re getting better, but to be honest, my cheat meals are catching up to me. That is why I HATE “cheat meals” uhhhh. They turn into triggers for bad decision making for me.
Anyway… This morning cardio was exhausting.

30 min on elliptical (high intensity intervals)
1 mile run at 6.7
30 second sprints for 5 minutes

20130225-153512.jpg
God, locker pics are so silly. Lol
I’ve got my essentials.
My Polar watch/ heart rate monitor

My harbinger workout gloves

My blender mixer bottle

Filled with BCAA+g of course

My iPod and case filled with killer playlists that make me wanna scream HELLL YEAHHHHHH!

Oh, and a reallllly good sports bra! A must

20130225-153538.jpg

Left the gym feeling powerful! I sweat my ass off. 45 min cardio and 15 AB circuit.
This lil watch makes you wanna work harder for sure! Best investment ever!

20130225-153746.jpg
Since I did a fasted workout this morning, I was ready for something in my belly as soon as I got in the car! My trustie Quest bar. These bars are my go-to source of a post workout meal. The coconut is probably my favorite flavor. No artificial sweeteners. Loves it. Soooo good, best part for me…( for my lazy digestive tract) a great source of fiber too;)

20130225-153707.jpg
I planned to go to the folks house today, but not before hitting up the Sunday farmers market. I changed outta my sweaty ass clothes, grabbed my recyclable bags, and headed to the farmers.
I stocked up on:

cauliflower

Onions

Cilantro

Parsley

Swiss chard

Strawberries

Grapefruit

Tomatoes

I sample absolutely everything at that place, so I leave feeling like I just had another meal:)
Today’s lunch at Mom and Dad’s house. No BBQ today. I had to run around and get some clients in, so we really didn’t have time, but he’ll, this ishhhhh was the bomb! Super easy lunch. Ground turkey and a side salad. Yummmmmm and full of lean protein.
We watched a movie as I finished my million loads of laundry. Don’t judge, yes, I took my laundry to my parents house. Weekday laziness brought me to this ;)

20130225-153815.jpg
By 4:30, I left because I had the bestie coming to stay with me before heading back to New York, and we had dinner plans. Where else, but my favorite Mexican restaurant walking distance from my house… Casa Vega.
Total fatty at dinner. Inhale a basket of chips. Yes, I know. But shared a taco salad( no dressing) and shrimp cocktail with my friend, so not that gnarly.

20130225-154420.jpg
We had the best margaritas! Fresh cucumber margiessss!

20130225-154450.jpg

Made with real muddled cucumber, tequila, fresh lime, and agave…but, you know me….” Um, no agave please” little did they know, I had my stevia drops stashed in my purse;) lol. They were amazing! I will most def be trying these at home! Hello, LOW CARB OPTION!

20130225-154500.jpg

We came back to my house after dinner and Alicia poured us some wine. Well, apparently I’ve broken all my wine glasses in the dishwasher, cuz she somehow found what she thought were a good alternate….. She hands us my centerpiece candle holders! Hahaha. She was all..”what? I thought they were just extra large cups!?” Lol. Bless her.
God, we freakin laughed our asses off all night! Alicia, and Brian’s brother left, so me and Brian decided to run across the street to 7-11 and get ice cream like a bunch of fat kids. We watched some crazy ass scary movie and passed out. Don’t judge, but I had 1/2 a pint. Lol
The next thing I’m about to tell you will absolutely shock you!!

I SLEPT IN TILL 10:30!!!!

20130225-154430.jpg

Somebody felt guilty about last night’s festivities…hmmmmm.
Shake time!
All of my ingredients right here!
Delicious and anti inflammatory.
berries
Kale
Almond milk
Bee pollen
Probiotics
Raw acai powder
Irish moss
Hemp seeds
Vanilla about time whey

20130225-155215.jpg

It was my first time trying my Irish moss! Wooohoooo! It ended up being a great thickener, and I didn’t taste it at all! Three it all in the vitamix. Happy girl. My guiltless breakfast of champs. All of these ingredients are amazing alone, but when put together are like miracle workers. Immediately, I felt less bloated. Last night was a bit much. If your in search of a good probiotic… I recommend this one. Keep it refrigerated. 42 billion live active cultures. Stoked! I open one capsule and add it to my shakes, or you can just take the pill form. Either way, AMAZING!

20130225-155235.jpg

20130225-155248.jpg

I had to take Brian to the airport at 1:30, so I made sure to drag him out for a hike before we left. It was such a gorgeous day, we couldn’t pass it up. Plus, he was about to head straight back to blizzard central New York, I figured he needed a bit of sunshine!

20130225-155308.jpg

Little Wilbur came with us! Yipeeeeee;)

20130225-155321.jpg
We hiked gorgeous Fryman canyon. 1 hour start to finish. Uphill to midway point. Not too difficult, but just right;)

20130225-155335.jpg
The best part…. Lol. I ran into an ex hiking up. He was coming towards me, and I wanted to die, cuz he was with a chick. Omg. It was just all around awkward, lets just say that. Hahahaha. This is a small town apparently.

20130225-155344.jpg
After hike snack before heading to the airport:
1/2 a bulb raw fennel
And a handful of strawberries.
I also tried a sample of AMINOLAST by Gaspari Nutrition. I shook this up to save for my ZUMBA+bodysculpting tonight.

20130225-155355.jpg

I returned home from LAX hungry of course, so I made a quick salad with some favorites.

Arugula
Cilantro
Parsley
Ground beef/ thin sliced beef
Chipotle cayenne nutritional yeast
Siracha

Delicious, light, and low carb.

20130225-155406.jpg

Before Zumba at 7, my girlfriend & fellow health enthusiast J fit came over for a haircut. We decided to have a light dinner before class, cuz we don’t get home till 9:30 usually on Mondays. Yes, that is too late for dinner.;)

20130225-182540.jpg

We roasted:
brussel sprouts
Cauliflower
Baby broccoli
Onions
Zucchini

20130225-182736.jpg

A salad made up of:
arugula
Cilantro
Parsley
Apples
Tomatoes
Turkey bacon
Lemon
Blood orange infused olive oil
Salt & pepper

20130225-222258.jpg

It was super good, except for….. Maybe we shouldn’t have had so much cauliflower before dancing our asses off. Lol. Ughhhhhhh.
Btw….I don’t know if I’ve mentioned to you yet, but, I have decided to finally do it! That’s right, I will be ZUMBA certified as of march 23rd!! Yahooooo. DOIN werrrrrkkkkkkk;) be on the lookout!

20130225-222352.jpg
Yes, I fu*%ing love brocollini!!!!

20130225-222404.jpg
A little food for thought for both you and I…. Provided by my friend jai_fitness. Keep up the motivation babes!

Hello my lovelies! How was everyone’s Sunday?? I can’t tell you how excited I am for today to be here! Guess what…..? You know how I’ve been little by little redecorating and arranging my upstairs? Well, the best, well, first piece of new furniture is coming today! Wooooohooooo. My gorgeous new bed! Ahhhhhh. Ok, we’ll go into that in a bit… First, I wanna share I little morning joy with y’all… Lately, I’ve been loving eating protein cake in the morning, total gymrat food. You know how I love my sweets, but can’t consume real chocolate cake on a regular for breakfast ( I’d be a house), so this does the job for me;)

CHOCOLATE LAVA PROTEIN CAKE
(Adapted from @tastyhealth)

2 scoop chocolate About Time protein

1 tbsp cocoa

2 egg white 1 tsp baking powder

4 tsp coconut flour

2 tbsp greek yogurt

1 1/2 tbsp stevia (granulated)

6 tbsp  unsweetened vanilla almond milk

20130216-104250.jpg

These are her exact DIRECTIONS:

Mix everything and put in a mug/bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the microwave for 45 sec up to 1.5 min depending on how runny you want it. Don’t overcook though! You might have to stop after 45 sec and then go in 10 sec intervals to prevent it from overflowing

20130217-184531.jpg

This was awesome! This microwave method cooks thing very fast, so please be mindful of over cooking, as it can become very dry. It took me a couple tries to perfect it.:)

20130216-104317.jpg

I whipped up some vanilla topping with:

2 tbsp 0% Greek yogurt
2 tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk. ( I use this ishhhh for everything)
Couple drops vanilla extract
4 drops stevia
And sprinkled with unsweetened cacao powder.

Listen, is honestly EASY.

20130216-104353.jpg

My parents were coming over at 10:30 am to come help with the bedroom, so I had to dash to gym ASAP.
I took my liquid L CARNITINE
Filled my blender bottle with three scoops of MRM bacc+ g and filled with water.
Sunday SELFIE;)
LA FITNESS… Here I come.

20130217-102955.jpg

Sad I wasn’t able to make it to my Sunday yoga flow class at Rising Lotus, but….my workout was SICK! I was in the mode today. Not too busy at the gym this morning, so no waits for any machines. Stoked.

Here was the circuit:

Here’s the breakdown:
0-3 min- warm up walk @ 3.8
Then run 2.5 miles @ 6.7
Then 1 mile intervals of 10.0 for 30 seconds> 30 seconds rest.

Total 3.5 miles.

NEXT-

HAPPY LOVE DAY! Exciting new RECIPES AND WEEKLY WORKOUT LOG!

In abs, Beauty, Breakfast, clean food, fitness plan, get the look, popular recipes, protein, protein shakes, Uncategorized, valentines day, Viamix, weekly workout schedule, WOD, zumba On February 14, 2013 6 Comments

Oh heeeeyyyyoooo! My loves! I’ve missed you! Hope you all enjoyed the last post. Aren’t you NOW, just as obsessed with Target as I am!? Anyway, get ready, cuz it’s that time again! The beginning of the week is full of healthy eats and recipes, workout ideas, my weekly exercise goal and my favorite part….. GET THE LOOK!

I just HAVE to share what I did the other day, that I totally forgot to blog about!
I got LAZZZZZZZERRRRED! zappity zappppp! If you are still waxing, GET A CLUE!
Ain’t noboooooody got time fo dat!

I am a total lover and fanatic for laser hair removal. It’s freakin genius. I’ve done it a few times before, but it was my first time at this particular location. My friend had gone here before, and highly recommended it. She said that they also had a particular laser machine that was geared more towards olive skin tones, so I was stoked. My skin can sometimes act a bit sensitive.
The place is called PROLASE in Glendale.

20130212-221027.jpg

We waited practically no time, which is alllllways appreciated. Happy to say that I am practically completely hairless;) like a baby’s bum! Today for me, was a touch up, but I dragged my friend along to try It for the first time. Bless her, she was so damn nervous! I was trying to explain what it felt like, ” it’s kinda like, as if someone is snapping a rubber band on your skin really fast…with cold shots of air” ummmmmmm. Weird description, but I couldn’t really pinpoint what it felt like, all I knew, was that, it was wellll worth it!

20130212-221054.jpg

You can shave the night before, to me, virtually painless, and you only have to go every 6 wks. By the 7-8 time, hair free! The bomb! This place is fantastic, great service, great machines, and very good prices. They also specialize in other skin treatments:)

Just thought I’d share, in case any of you are considering getting it done:)

20130212-221113.jpg

Tuesday is the beginning of my week, and I like to start it off with a BANG!

A “FASTED” cardio workout, and strength training upper body.
Showing off my new Target hat:) $9.99 biatchessssss! Sooo cute right!?
Now that I have bangs, I find that hats are the easiest to get them outta my face while I’m working out. I can’t stand pinning my hair back like snookie. No thanks.

And no Biggs….just repping my colts:) I’m a huge Peyton Manning fan, so of course I now have two teams:) Colts & the Broncos!!!

20130212-221153.jpg
ATTENTION CHICS!

Please stop feeling intimidated to get in that weight room!!! Don’t let those boys intimidate you. I get it, it’s a new environment to you…but, that’s why you become knowledgeable in what you are doing, and which muscles you are are trying to work, because, let’s be honest, nobody wants to hurt themselves lifting weights, and no one wants to see anyone getting hurt lifting. Knowledge is power, so go in there confident, with an agenda….and that’s to build strength with great form and technique. If you have any questions, you guys, ASK THE TRAINERS! That’s what they’re there for!

My workout consisted of:

30 minute cardio:
Elliptical intervals, alternating in resistance and incline to raise my heart rate.
example:
0-2 minutes at resistance 5 > incline 10
2-5 minutes at resistance 9 > incline 5
Keep repeating that circuit for 30 minutes.

30 minutes of resistance and weight training.
Crunches
Obliques
Leg raises
Weighted cable crunch
Stability ball AB work
Plank
Mountain climbers
Dead lifts
Back rows

20130212-221209.jpg

So, as youve probably noticed, currently, my favorite post workout meal has been “Good Girl Pancakes”. I just can’t get enough of them! They are so incredibly healthy and fast, that I’ve become a master. These particular ones were made in like 4 minutes!! No joke, no lie!
All you need is the following:

1 tbsp coconut flour

1 tbsp vanilla protein powder

1 tsp gelatin

Either 1 egg and 1 egg white or use 2-3 egg whites.

Mix really well, grease a pan, form ur pancake, and in a couple min, flip. They cook super fast.

I absolutely loovvveeee nut butters, so I topped these with almond butter, hemp seeds and sugar free honey, but you are welcome ( obviously) to top with berries, coconut oil, nuts, whateves;)
These fill me up till about 10:30 when it’s time to feed my body more proteins! I need 5-6 small meals a day with the workouts I’m doing.

20130212-221801.jpg

I have such a ritual now, I’m loving it.
WORKOUT> EAT>PRO COMPRESSION RECOVERY SOCKS > BACK TO PJ’S
Until shower and get ready time:)
People ask me all the time if wearing these “special socks” really makes a difference… And I say YESSSSSSS!
These fantastic little things help reduce recovery time, reduce chance of injury, and reduce any swelling or inflammation. They are spectacular. I actually sometimes wear them while I workout. I feel more stable with them on, kinda like a security blanket;)
If you check out Pro Compressions website, they are always having promos, sometimes for 40% off. Sooo amazing!

20130212-221745.jpg

Like I said earlier….I need protein!
One of my faves!

STRAWBERRY COCONUT SHAKE

1 packet About time strawberry protein

2 tbsp low fat cottage cheese or 0% Greek yogurt.

4 drops stevia

1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 cup water

4-5 ice cubes

1 tbsp unsweetened unrefined shredded coconut.

2 strawberries ( 1 for shake, 1 for garnish)

20130212-221230.jpg

I just throw everything in my vitamix, but, if you ain’t got one, that’s totally fine, use any blender you’ve got ;) btw….. I can’t even begin to tell how worth it, that Vitamix was…changed my life!

20130212-221244.jpg

Another snack that I’m packing all week is low fat cottage cheese with blueberries.
This particular C.C is by Lucerne. It’s great because its low sodium!

I will pack usually 1/2 a cup along with 1/2 cup berries.

20130212-221306.jpg

Lunch!

My mornings are busy, so every night, before bed, I make sure to pack my lunch and snacks.
This weekend was so busy, that I didn’t get a chance to do my cooking for the week, so on this day, I opted for a big super salad.

Swiss chard

Cabbage

Spinach/kale mix

2 pieces turkey bacon

1 heart of palm

A handful of chopped cilantro.

Dressed with olive oil and vinegar

20130212-221329.jpg

My afternoon snacks not pictured:

A tbsp peanut butter

A handful of almonds

A handful of raw green beans with hummus

My dinner plan, was to get my ass home to cookin!

First things first….pour a glass of this gorgeous italian red.

20130212-221952.jpg

On the menu this evening folks:

RAW ZUCCHINI HUMMUS

ROASTED WINTER VEGGIES

LEMON SEASONED BROCCOLI

SAUTÉED GROUND BEEF WITH CHIPOTLE, SHALLOTS AND GARLIC

20130212-222012.jpg

Alright, lets start with the RAW ZUCCHINI HUMMUS:

You could use, either a vitamix, or a food processor.
This recipe is sooo good, and the best part, is that it’s RAW, and virtually no carbs! No chickpeas in this recipe.
You can find raw tahini at whole foods or online. Tahini is made of sesame seeds. All it is is sesame paste really. It’s delicious in, not only hummus, but also for making salad dressings:) a great staple to have in your fridge.

20130212-222029.jpg

3 medium zucchini’s

1/4 c olive oil

1/4 – 1/2 cup lemon juice ( I like mine with 1/2 a cup, u know I love lemon;)

1/2 cup raw organic tahini

1.5 t salt

2 t cumin

3 cloves of garlic

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

1/4 tsp Paprika and some to garnish

20130212-222059.jpg

Peel the zucchinis, and cube them, add all the rest of the ingredients and blend in bitamix or food processor.

Top or garnish with a little olive oil , paprika and pine nuts or seasoned pumpkin seeds, and Enjoy!

This makes a batch that will force you to share. Orrrr, not;) it’s that good.
Eat with flax crackers, dip your veggies, and add to your salads.

Next, LEMON ROASTED BROCOLLI

INGREDIENTS:

A bag of broccoli florets from Trader Joes.

1/2 a lemon

Garlic Salt and pepper

Dash of paprika

Olive oil spray or 1/2 tsp.

20130212-222147.jpg

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line roasting pan with foil, add broccoli, toss with remaining ingredients, and roast for 15-20. When the tips start to brown. I don’t like to cook the death out of veggies, sooooo don’t do it either;) no need to deplete all of the nutrition…

20130212-222202.jpg

Time to pile on MORE VEGETABLES!

My favorite healthy add in for any meal, are roasted vegetables. I literally throw everything I have in the fridge in a roasting pan, I’m so into it.
Today, we’ve got.

Brussel sprouts

Mushrooms

Red peppers

Zucchini

Onions

Shallots

Leeks

20130212-222229.jpg

I pretty much just 1/2 everything, throw them onto a roasting pan, toss in olive oil, salt, pepper, and any other seasoning you like, lay out evenly, and roast at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes, and you’ve got a great side or topping to any dish.
What’s great about roasting, is that the vegetables soften so much, that they almost caramelize themselves , and become a bit sweet. Ahhhh, so bomb!

20130212-222246.jpg

Like I said, veggies go with everything. I actually don’t even count my veggies as part of my caloric intake.check out DINNER!

Because I get bored easily of chicken and fish, sometimes I need a bit of red meat to break it up. For those of you who think red meat is bad for you, think again. Check it out…
especially if you are anemic and/or an athlete.

“Meat provides nutrients runners need like iron to help maintain energy levels. It also supplies protein and amino acids that repair small muscle tears that occur during training,” according to a sports dietitian quoted by the magazine. A lean cut of beef such as sirloin or tenderloin can be a great source of zinc and iron. And B vitamins, which “help convert carbohydrates into the fuel needed to make it through a training run, are particularly plentiful in beef,” according to the article’s author, Jessica Girdwain.

20130212-222316.jpg

96% lean organic ground beef

1/4 tsp oregano

1/4 tsp cumin

1 tsp salt

1 tsp chipotle seasoning

1/4 tsp paprika

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper ( I’m into spicy right now… It aids in fat burning, so get into it)

2 chopped shallots

2 finely chopped garlic cloves

1/4 cup water

20130212-222335.jpg

In a bowl, combine ground beef with all your seasonings, other than water, shallots, garlic. Get in there with your hands to ensure it’s mixed well.
In a large skillet, sautée the shallots and garlic on medium heat. Just to soften
Add meat mixture. Sautée and break up chunks with a spatula. Add water, and cook for another 10 minutes on med/ high heat.

Now I was complete;)

Complete nutrition. Protein, fiber, fat, and complex carbs. This is called EATING FOR FUEL.
Listen, it’s hard to stay on top of eating clean sometimes, but we can prevent binge eating and bad decisions by preparing ourselves. I always encourage pre-planned meals that include all of the nutrition your body needs, so that later on in the day, the body doesn’t say ” WTF I NEED CARBS! Remember, vegetables are a great source of carbohydrates, with occasional quinoa, lentils, and oats. If you feed your body the right things, and OFTEN, you won’t feel deprived. Also, not to mention, the right foods burn fat too, so, it’s a win-win.

My basic packed lunch:

Sharing my week in workouts with you guys! I can’t stress enough, how important and efficient it has been for me to actually write down my workout goals! It’s changed the way I train, I swear. The fact that I’ve typed it out, and shared with y’all, makes me feel completely accountable!
You know what I just thought of!!?
Since I get inspired by all of you reading my weekly workouts….. What if you sent me YOUR weekly workout schedule!? Ahhhhhhh… That would be amazing! You create them at the beginning of the week, send them to me, I POST THEM, and we can both inspire each other to stay on track! OOOOMMMGGGGG
Why haven’t we done this yet!? Ok, seriously. It doesn’t have to be gnarly, just attainable.

Ok, and I also have a confession…. Thursday: I forgot, it’s V-day… I’m gonna go ahead and cheat, and call it an off day….I’m freakin sore anyway. I’ll switch it for Saturday. Yeah, that works:) I don’t mind the gym being my Saturday night date!

How bout a bit of cardio inspiration?! I know, I know… I f*%#ing HATE cardio, but guess what….. Get over it. You know once you start, you get allllllllll crazy lady on that machine!
I found something similar to this on Pinterest I think, so it inspired me to create my own little treadmill circuit.
I get freakin bored sometimes, so it’s fun to challenge yourself. This one is great because it targets all of your body! We’ve got major inclines, sprints, walking uphill backwards, sideways, you name it. This isshhhhhhh is the bomb!
Next time you’ve got 30 minutes, try this CIRCUIT.

Shoes: my Target find, $29.99
Seriously, you need these! They don’t look like a $30 pair of shoes, they look like $ 100 pair of shoes. They’re incredibly comfortable, I actually worked all day standing up in them, and I was fine. The upper straps are brown and black leather, not that cheap looking fake stuff, and the wedge is a brown cloth material. Pretty damn cute, right!?

20130213-142027.jpg

TOP: TJ MAXX $12.99 going along with my 70s looks as of lately :)

PANTS:TJ MAXX $16.99 almost like a thick, stretchy pant material. Loving these! The best part, is that they sit a bit higher on the waist, I’m not into low rise anymore. So played out.

It’s all about colors POPPING right now. Fun floral patterns are my jam. Check out the gold/turquoise Michael Kors watch… Take a wild guess where I found this gem???

Oops I did it again….BBQ.EATS.TARGET. My Sunday recap<3

In abs, bedroom, circuit, decor galore, popular recipes, Sunday funday, sweets, Uncategorized, WOD On February 12, 2013 0 Comments

Ahhhhh, Sunday finally!!!!

Not too much to report today y’all, except lots of EATS! Oh, and andddddd a bit of working out. Actually, my favorite days to workout, are my weekends. I’m not rushed, feel more relaxed, and get a better workout because of it.
Ohhh, that’s right, it’s GRAMMY night tonight, huh? Shit, I kinda forgot. Yes, I will be on the couch for tonight’s event.

I slept in till 7:00 a.m. today, and it felt fantastic:) remember, I started doing yoga once a week? Well, today is the day. I’m loving doing this hour and 1/2 class on Sunday morning. Class was at 9, but I wanted to hit the gym before hand for a good cardio and AB sesh.

So, 7:30 came, and I pumped myself up with some RIRI AND JT, ( for those of you who are looking at that, like, ummmm. RIRI=Rhianna and JT= Justin Timberlake.) and headed to the gym.
I get there……CLOSED!!!!
I could kill. WTF.
Ugh, so I drove to god knows where to find the next freakin LA Fitness.
Gt there, and immediately jumped onto the elliptical and started my circuit.
At this point, I didn’t have much time, so I had to make the most out of 45 minutes.

30 minute intervals.

Alternating :

Resistance 5 and incline 9 for 2 minutes

Resistance 10 and incline 5 for 3 minutes

Kept alternating at a quick speed to get the heart rate up for the whole 30.
I was having a bit of a hip issue, so I wasn’t into running today, but the elliptical suited me just fine, easier on the body I think.

For the following 15 minutes, I worked on abs.

25 crunches on stability ball

15 leg lifts

15 military sit-ups with a 10 lb dumbbell

50 bicycles

15 leg lifts

Yoga today was spectacular! I felt strong and focused. This particular class is a Hatha yoga class. Today, I worked on my breathing and really getting deeper into each pose. Loved it. I was super energized after class, so I went straight home, picked up willy, who of course was having his daily panic attack as soon as I walked thought the door, and drove to the folks house for fam bam time;)

A lil Sunday SELFIE:)
I’m straying trying to decide if I’m feeling my new 70′s fringe look. The only thing about bangs, is that they get annoying! and greasy when I get hot. Hmmm, we’ll see how long they last. Lol

20130210-200452.jpg

Since I’ve been following targetdoesitagain on instagram, I’ve gone absolutely MAD for target shopping. Trust me, this girl’s got a target red card! ohhh yessss. That’s wazzzzzup!
And since I’ve been playing decorator in my upstairs bedroom, I decided it was time to start laying the pallets down for the new look. I don’t even know what the hell I bought, but I’m so into it. Maybe I should have waited until I had the most important things girls, I.e. a new bed, office, art, dressers, you know….just THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS! whatever, sometimes the smaller things like, side tables, pillows, vases, and lamps help me to discover and inspire a look.

I swear I could spend all day in that effing place. $400 later. Byeeeeeeee

20130210-200528.jpg

As you know, Sundays are BBQ day at this household. All I have to say is….thank god I worked out for 2 1/2 hours, cuz, i mean…. Homegirl ate some food. It was absolutely beautiful outside, as are most days in sunny Cali, so, we opted for a tiki bar lunch. We literally eat off of beautiful wooden planks of wood. I mean….. We’re just reallllly rustic;)

20130210-200618.jpg

Dad cooked up a MEAN ASS BBQ! this is the way us Argentinians do it, simple. This was done literally with no added stuff other than salt, and lemon.

Chicken drumsticks, Argentinian chorizo, and mollejas ( sweetbreads) my favorite. No red meat today. I’m telling you I dream of Sunday BBQ with the folks. It’s sooo bomb.

20130210-200645.jpg
The sweetbreads and chorizo tend to be on the fattier side, so I didn’t eat the skin on the chicken. Trying to balance out…hmmmm lol. My logic sometimes is distorted.

20130210-200703.jpg

No carbs with this meal, just pure protein and fats. Mom made a simple salad, with red onions, and tomatoes, dressed with olive oil, lemon, salt & pepper.

And as a side: marinated in olive oil and vinegar, pickled eggplant. Omg soooo good. I had just a couple tablespoons of that.

Btw….ummm, I ate more than what you see on this plate. Lol. Like, a lot more;)

20130210-200803.jpg

So I don’t know if you know this about me, but I am COMPLETELY obsessed with anything lemon! Like, my binge food, other than fries, may just be lemon meringue pie. I swear, I die over that shizzzzzzle. So mom, bless her, as she is on the same diet plan, made us a gluten free, low carb, LEMON COCONUT CAKE to enjoy for dessert. Aweeeeeee. Adorbs.
I must share Mom’s recipe with y’all! It was divine!

20130210-200830.jpg

LEMON COCONUT CAKE:

INGREDIENTS:

3/4 cup coconut flour

1/2 cup xylitol or erythritol ( or if using stevia, 1/4 cup granulated/ liquid stevia, 20 drops.)

1 cup shredded coconut

1 tbsp freshly grated lemon zest

4 eggs

1/3 cup fresher squeezed lemon juice

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk ( vanilla flavor is fine)

3 tbsp of butter ( if you think about it, 3 tbsp is not a lot, considering it makes a whole cake)

Merengue topping:

2 egg whites

2 tbsp of xylitol or erythritol ( you can find all of these sugar subs online or at who,e foods if you’ve got one near you.)

20130210-200853.jpg

DIRECTIONS:

For cake:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Then add all wet ingredients and blend or beat until all combined really well.
Grease a baking dish and place batter inside. Cook for 30 minutes.

For merengue topping:

Beat egg whites and xylitol ( or whatever sugar sub you decided to go with. ( remember, stevia is the sweetest) until they form stiff peaks. It may take 7-10 min or so sometimes. Be patient, well worth it.

Once cake is out of the oven, ( insert toothpick though the center to unsure doneness) spread merengue topping over, and stick under broiler for just literally 1 minute. You really just want to brown the top, not burn. Very important to keep watch at this point.

And that’s all folks. It was so delicious. The best part was, that it didn’t leave me feeling bloated, and guilty. It was made with all ingredients that I could eat. Thanks MAMI!!!!

I ate mine plain, but I topped Dad’s piece with a bit of honey, walnuts, and raspberries. He was feeeeeeeking it! And he doesn’t eat anything that we call “health food” so, you know what that means!

20130210-200908.jpg

Ok, get ready for another recipe. I just couldn’t leave you without sharing this amazing dinner I made the other day. I posted it on instagram, and it received a standing ovation;) this one is going in the books y’all. I was texting back and forth with a friend the night before, while he was trying to decide what to make for dinner, and chicken pot pie was the winner. In that moment, I had the ultimate craving. But, how to make it low-carb, that was the question!?

Ohhhh hell yessss! I totally succeeded!

PAULA’S BACON & LEEK LOW CARB POT PIE

INGREDIENTS:

For filling:

1/2-1 tsp coconut oil or safflower oil

1/2 a med/lrg chopped onion

1/2 a large leek sliced

1 cup sliced mushrooms

2 handfuls of either kale, spinach, collard greens,I used Swiss chard.

2 slices of nitrate free turkey bacon ( Trader Joe’s has great options)

2 cloves of garlic

1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 tsp coconut flour (to thicken)

Salt & pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder

20130210-200935.jpg

For the no-carb” flaky crust”:

1 tbsp coconut flour

1 tbsp ” chipotle” flavor nutritional yeast

1 egg

1 tsp water

For the sauce

1/4 cup unsweetened almond or flax milk.

1 tsp ghee ( clarified butter) or any all natural butter you want.

1 tbsp Parmesan

20130210-201827.jpg

ASSEMBLY:

Sautée first on med heat: onions, leeks, mushrooms, salt & pepper in a tsp of coconut oil for 5 minutes while stirring. Add greens and turkey bacon. Lastly add garlic powder and fresh garlic. Sautée another 10- 15 minutes. Set aside.

While that’s cooking, make your ” crust”.
Spray a pan with smart balance spray or organic coconut oil spray and turn heat to med. In a small bowl, mix coconut flour with nutritional yeast. Add the egg and water and mix well, removing all lumps.
Spread out evenly in pan like a big pancake. It cooks very fast so be quick on the flip.

Using the same pan as the sautéed veggies and bacon you’re gonna add almond or flax milk, butter, and Parmesan. Bring to a quick boil, and simmer while stirring. All we want here, is for it to thicken up, once we achieve that, ( 5-6 minutes). We will turn off and begin the plating.

Using a circular tall cutout ( almost like a taller circle cookie cutter) I cut out two circles from the pancake. One for top and one for bottom. I placed one at the bottom of the cutout, and filled the inside with my stuffing, then placed the top circle over everything. Lifting the cutout, while pushing down a bit, as to not accidentally lift everything up.

Pour the sauce over and enjoy! This recipe will suit 2 people and I promise you will loveeeeee!

20130210-201849.jpg

Ok, so as I shared earlier….I went a little nutzo at target this weekend and wanted to share some of my finds!! I know you all wish you could live at Target, like me, soooo I thought I would bring a little Target to you;) ok, so….confession time:

I’m not showing you all that I bought there, but most. I just got tired of taking pics of stuff. Lol, oh and, I almost forgot….I hit up T.j MAXX on the way home, and did a bit of damage there too…… Not too much though;)

Ok first thing: a TJ MAXX find.
Gorgeous Christian Lacroix postcards. S cute, and some of them even have a bit of red velvet on them. Soooo fancy hunnnnayyyy. I’m ol’ school like that, I still love sending cards and postcards, I think we need people to get into this habit. Too much texting and emailing, no!?
Anyway, I thought they were fun and pretty.
20130211-174931.jpg

So, as you know, I’ve been struggling to get the upstairs going with the “new look” and today, it started alllll coming together. I purchased a new bed. ( which will be a surprise, until the big remodel reveal) and now I’ve got some great accessories to go:)

This great woven picture frame! Rustic yet contemporary.

A simple black and off white bar that will most likely be for my desk. This piece goes with everything.

The my favorite piece: this beautiful wooden bowl, with blue accents. Stunning.

20130211-175040.jpg

It’s all about teal! well, subdued turquoise. This fabulous vale is from Target, and the planter n’ cake holder from TJ MAXX.
20130211-175104.jpg

This piece can really go anywhere in my house, but I bought it for the office. I like to have a designated mail pile. That is what’s gonna happen here. Mail pile on silver. I’m feeling it.
20130211-175159.jpg

Last exciting find I’m gonna share with y’all, are these bad boys! Beautiful and actually comfortable wedges. So cute for work, and summertimeeeeeee! Lovin the double color.
20130211-175228.jpg
What are some of your favorite stores to splurge at??
I neeeed to know! ;)
Hope you guys had a fabulous weekend! Thanks again for following me and my life, I really love to hear from you guys so that I can better improve the style of the blog, so please, please, let’s keep in touch! Love uuuuuu

Eat better…Feel better….

In Breakfast, clean food, cleanse, fashion, get the look, Uncategorized, WOD On January 30, 2013 0 Comments

Hot DAMN, was I sore when I woke up!
Hey guys! It’s Tuesday night and I’m catching up the rest of today’s post while I watch some news. I was super busy at work, so I didn’t get the chance to “blog as I go” today.
Late night post;)
This morning, I woke up, checked emails, took my cleansing pills, and I added my L CARNITINE to the mix as well. ( on an empty stomach)
Had a yummy breakfast of the Flax Banana squares and some espresso. God, really, I sound like a broken record. I feel like I just keep posting the same shit. This food doesn’t feel boring to me though..I actually really enjoy it. It’s only when you eat SHIT foods, that you think CLEAN foods taste boring;)
Anyway…I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast.
Anddddd, guess what?? It’s officially the last day of my 7 day cleanse!
Heyyyyy….hooooooooo…heyyy..hooooooo
You saw what I’ve been eating this week, not bad huh? I didn’t feel restricted at all!

20130129-211330.jpg

After breakfast, I put some warm clothes on, grabbed the pup, and went for a 2 mile run. It felt so great. I stayed at a moderate pace, cuz Willy’s little legs can’t keep up:) ah. He’s so cute. When I got home, I did a little circuit workout in the “at home gym” I tried to make a video of what I was doing, and when I went back to see the footage, the light had come in through the window, making it nearly impossible to even see me because of the glare! ANNOYED.COM
I will try that again mañana.

20130129-211350.jpg
I was so snacky today, it was pretty impossible to take pics of all the ” just a bite” snacks I ate.
This is just one of them that I can’t live without.
A spoonful of real, unsalted peanut butter.

Not pictured:

1/4 of a cucumber
1/2 cup of my RAW trail mix

Pepitas
Walnuts
Cacao nibs
Sunflower seeds
Coffee # 2

20130129-211412.jpg

SNACK# 2

Don’t get too excited… More egg whites. At least scrambled this time.

& A handful of walnuts.

LUNCH: was leftover chicken breast, broccoli, a few bites of a sweet potato, and handful of cilantro with some siracha

20130129-211431.jpg

Dinner:

Oh whatta ya know…. Chicken and hard boiled eggs.

Oh, and another Flax banana square;)

20130129-211656.jpg

I also used this with my chicken. I am a HUGE fan of fermented vegetables. The taste is probably something that you will need to get used to. It grows on you, and now, I can’t live without it. It “regulates” me completely. If you are wondering why the hell I am eating fermented foods, here you go……
Fermentation is the process of cultivating lactic acid as a natural preservative to prevent putrefication. Starches and sugars in vegetables and fruits are converted to lactic acid by the many species of lactic-acid producing bacteria. It has multiple health benefits as described by Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions:

“The proliferation of lactobacilli in fermented vegetables enhances their digestibility and increases vitamin levels. These beneficial organisms produce numerous helpful enzymes as well as antibiotic and anticarcinogenic substances. Their main by-product, lactic acid, not only keeps vegetables and fruits in a state of perfect preservation but also promotes the growth of healthy flora throughout the intestine.”

(Leather and super comfortable) Aldo now carries 1/2 sizes, which makes things a whole lot easier. I never quite fit the 7 perfect, and the eight was too big. I always asked the same ol’ question…. ” will they stretch out?” Haha

The belt:

A beautiful, thick, leather belt found at the local goodwill. Stoked on this find. Pretty much goes with anything high waisted. Don’t be afraid to hit up your local thrift shops, second hand shops are great places to find amazing accessories, etc. Someone’s trash may be someone else’s treasure eh!

SELFIE Sunday;)

In Breakfast, clean food, cleanse, Sunday funday, Uncategorized, WOD On January 27, 2013 3 Comments

Let me just say that I LOVE MY WEEKENDS! who doesn’t really!?
Never fails though, up at 5:30 a.m. Lol. I can’t sleep in to save my life. I watched drive last night, and fell in love with Ryan Gosling all over again ;) I managed to also make it to my bed instead of passing out on the couch. Hallelujah.

This morning I woke up to a foggy morning, and a cuddly pup. So nice. Got a bit of stuff done on the computer, took my cleansing pills, and reheated my two leftover AMAZEBALL pancakes!

I topped them with a bit of natures hollow sugar free honey and a few fresh raspberries. Yummmmmm.

20130127-065834.jpg

Had my morning espresso, and the pup and I headed to the salon to do a client for the SAG awards at 8:30 am. No, I usually don’t take the pup to work, but the salon is closed on Sunday, and it was just us, so no bigs:) it was bring your pup to work day:)

20130127-065859.jpg

I just love how dense these are…a bit of a pound cake vibe. So no hatin on that! They are gorgeous in my eyes. A bit food obsessed… Yes:/

20130127-180015.jpg

Get ready for Sunday Selfies!! lol.
I had loads of plans today, in which most fell through, but I got to see some old friends and that was awesome! Headed to the folks house to drop off the pup.

Selfie #1.
I’ll admit it…I’ve become that girl.

20130127-180110.jpg

I don’t know what’s come over me lately, but all I want all day everyday, is breakfast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What a freak!
Today’s lunch was at my Favorite Brunch spot. Egg Plantation. The best. THE BEST!

I’m admitting now…I had cheese…and a couple bites ( ok, more like 4-5 bites) of the most decadent peanut butter stuffed French toast.. I KNOW! Ahhhhh so naughty. I had to c’mon.
I ordered an egg white omelette. ( which came yellow. Hmmmmm…I wasn’t about to send it back though) with turkey sausage, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, and CHEEEEESE! So much for no dairy on my cleanse! I’m sorry, I just love that shit wayyyy to much. But…. I have cut back, and that really should count for something, no?
Oh, andddddd, a side of fruit…annndddddd gluten free Udi’s toast.
Wow, now that I’m writing this….looking like a BIG girl right about now…

20130127-180038.jpg

Best part of the day! Meeting up with ol’ friends, catching up, and this lil munchkin. I haven’t seen him since he was like 3 months old! He is the cutest, and sooooo smart. No, I’m not just saying that cuz I luv em’….
He already knows some sign language, he know kisses and hugs and sooo much more! Ahhhhhhh
I’m getting baby fever !! Omg!

20130127-180152.jpg

Haha! Every time you say “kisses” he keeps his mouth open like “make out seshhhhh” haha. The absolute BEST!

20130127-180216.jpg

SELFIE #2

Thank got we sat and chatted for a bit and allowed for the monstrous lunch to digest, otherwise I don’t think I would’ve made it to the gym!
On my way to LA fitness for a serious
Workout.

20130127-180256.jpg

I had a couple days off from working out, and I was getting the itch! I headed straight for the elliptical for a 60 min interval cardio session.

Alternating between resistance 5 incline 9 to resistance 10 incline 5. Cardio alone, I burned 571 calories.

Today’s strength training consisted of:
ABS-
crunches
Leg lifts
Stability ball raises
Planking

BACK-
Superman raises
Row
Dead lifts
Back flys

Overall: 743 cals burned. Hopefully some of that stuffed French toast left my body! Lol
I felt fantastic!

A little word of advice….
“Don’t think about all the other things you could be doing with your time, just get your workout in, and then enjoy the other things. I promise, you won’t regret it” you’ll enjoy the day so much more knowing that you built strength within yourself physically and mentally.

MORNING HIIT CARDIO & a new FF>2F AMAZING recipe!

In circuit, polar, popular recipes, Uncategorized, WOD On January 8, 2013 2 Comments

Helllllooooo gorgeous friends….
Let me start off this post by introducing my ridiculous, gluttonous ass dessert from last night. Yikes!
Friends don’t let friends eat SUGAR! FML.

Well, it was delicious, but I knew I would be paying for it in the morning…..
The pretty playing also doesn’t help.

Up at 6:00 though…kicking and screaming. ;)
I decided to try a fasted cardio session this morning. I’m typically the type who likes to nibble on something small before a workout. For some reason, sometimes I get nauseous with nothing in my stomach. But today, I was in desperate need to burn off the late night cals.
So I put a few scoops of BCAA in my water bottle and took off to LA Fitness.
I woke up super tired, and a bit unmotivated, but I persevered! ;)
Once I was there, I turned to beast mode. Duh.

Once I learned of fasted morning cardio, I was hooked. I do this for a week, after a couple days of naughty eating. This is to really lean you out. I don’t do it on the regular, but it’s definitely something in my program …as a go to.
Now, this is something that has to be balanced out with proper nourishment after your workout.
Also, the type of cardio makes a difference as well.
The best combo would be:

- 45 min – 1 hr of HIIT.
- This a.m. I did 1 hour of intervals.
3 min resistance 5..
2 min resistance 10
- This will have your heart rate guessing, helping us to burn more, for longer.
- Drinking BCAA during workout
- post workout, make sure to feel body and muscles with very lean protein.
Egg whites, protein shake, lean meat, lite dairy.

So, I gotta share this… I’m PISSED. this damn machine’s calorie count was sooooo off.it said that I had burned almost 800 hundred cals in my hr workout. There’s no way. I mean I worked out hard, but really??
Yeah, definitely something wrong. I had entered my weight, age, all of it.
Soooo off.

20130108-145601.jpg

Of course, I had on my polar watch and was also wearing my heart transmitter, so I was able to get an accurate calorie count. Thank god. But, you know what? I’m pissed for the people to don’t have access to a watch like this. I mean, poor girl thinkin’ she’s burning all SORTS of cals, little does she know, she’s gotta work a lot harder than she expected to get that number!

Anyway, that was a rude awakening, I’ve had it be off by 50, 60, but by like 200. Get real.
After the gym, I knew willy would be waiting by the door like a little creep, so I rushed home to take him to the park.
He just got a haircut, adorbs. I finally got the groomer lady to stop makin’ him look like a girl!
“I get it, he’s part poodle, but can you puuuuleaseee stop making my dog look like a bitch” is really, what I wanted to say, but clearly too nice to;)
Finally got him to look like the terrier lil boy he is;)
It was a beautiful morning! Not too many folks with their dogs out, so I let him run free for a while.
He ran himself out, which I LOVE, cuz it relaxes the anxiety for when I leave for work.

I stopped him in his tracks, for a photo op. we wanted to show off his pearly whites:)
I swear, he’s like a boyfriend, always acting annoyed to take a damn picture! Lol
