With “The day of THANKS” behind us, I can hardly believe it’s time for christmas shopping, putting up lights….etc. GEEEEEZ! That came soooo fast. I feel like Thanksgiving just flew right past me. Although turkey leftovers are finally devoured, I cant help but continue to reflect and feel absolutely grateful for this special day. Here a few shots from Thanksgiving;)

We not only celebrated Thanksgiving on this day, but also, Mom’s bday!

We started eating pretty damn early. Come to think of it….drinking too;) By 11 am, turkey was already done, and warm in the oven, mashed potatoes done, and we were making hard boiled eggs. A fuckin FAVE!!!!

All you do is….place whole block-a-brie in a small baking dish, top with fresh made fruit compote ( We made our own raspberry chia jam), crumble some almonds over top, and bake until cheese is oozing out the sides! WHAT?! I know, sooo bomb. That shiz was gone in 0-60 seconds. byeeeeee

This is my absolute favorite pic. My pops with Emma. Ok, so…..partly because she looks identical to me when I was her age. No joke. Mirror image. It was crazy to see them together. I felt like I was seeing myself, “daddy’s girl” 28 years ago. Wow.

My cousin SeanJay is staying with my folks while going to music school in burbank, so he celebrated with us, as well as his parents. BTW….amazing aunt & uncle;) Soooo happy to have had them visit from Las Vegas!

Unfortunately I didn’t get many shots of the actual dinner;( maybe that’s because I was stuffing my face like a hippo. Did I mention that I’ve gained 10 POUNDS this month?!!!!!! holy jesus cristo!!!!!!!Yep, that’s what happens when

#1: you burn out

#2: you’re happy 

lol, whatever.

Of course, I managed to snap a pic of my dessert. I ate the shit outta that SUGAR FREE CHEESECAKE. 

No one could tell it was a “healthified” version of a cheesecake. Like seriously, people are obsessed with this recipe. I’m proud;) I usually serve as individual cheesecake rounds, but it wasn’t working out for me. To make time, I just cut up bite sized squares.

The other cut up cake you see in the center, that’s a traditional argentinian cake called PASTAFROLA. Made from shortbread and quince jelly, It’s like nothing you’ve everrrrrrr had! It’s delicious and flaky, and melts in your effin’ mouth!

Anyway…we had a fabulous time, and now…..I’m ready for:

Marcin and I have been talking about trying this super cute cafe by his place. Literati Cafe has been on our list, and we finally made there for a super yummy brunch on Sunday morning. In the heart of West La, on Wilshire, (one of the busiest streets ever) you wouldn’t even guess it. Thanks to the beautiful and serene garden patio, you get such a great local, mellow vibe. I loved it. It was like a little gem. I highly recommend you try it out. I loved that they were dog friendly in the patio area, and nobody was “LA” stuffy, you know!?20131202-174936.jpg

We tend to share everything we have at restaurants, to be able to try a little of everything. It’s really funny actually…when we first met, he told me that he was an only child. First thing I thought was….( & said) “oh god, do you have problems sharing? Cuz I love sharing…especially food.” lol. He was like, “ummmm, no, I mean….no, I don’t think so….” hahahaha

The breakfast menu is ridiculous! I reallllllllly was eying the griddle cakes and french toast, but stuck with something on the healthier side. lol. I ordered the VEGGIE MELT form the lunch menu, and it was soooo good. I didn’t realize how much I liked sprouts in my sandwiches. Yummmmmm.

Marcin ordered the chicken pesto sandwich which was on ciabatta bread. It was good, but I think mine was better.Maybe the chicken breast was a little dry.  We also split a side of kale chips and shared a glass of chardonnay & pinot grigio. It was a beautiful sunny day, which means….day drinking is completely acceptable. Grrrreat.

We walked back home and I believe took a bit of a nap. Hmmm, I never used to nap. Lately, I’m kind of  into it. After a waking up and realizing it was still amazing out. It was safe to say…we needed to seize the day. We leashed Willy and headed to Santa Monica for a nice beach walk. I completely obsessed with my new black Friday find, my NIKE lunar sprints. The are like…heaven on your feet. Like a god damn cloud!!!! They are available in quite a few colors, but I believe they are “youth”. Before heading to dinner at Warszawa, we caught a beautiful sunset. Finally used the “panoramic” setting on my Iphone. Have any of you ever caught the supposed “green light” that flashes when the sun is about to set???

We watched, stared, but….never happened. Still stunning skies all around. So lucky to be in LA. This is a December evening on the beach I mean… c’mon!

I went in there to see if I could find some cute x-mas decorative pillows to finalize my “North Pole apartment” but, unfortunately didn’t find them. Instead, I found these gems!

I’ve decided to finally get off my ass…and get back to a workout routine. This month has been crazy, and I really let myself go. I’m not saying that I’m freaking out and obsessing over it, but I’m ready to get back on it. I realize that I don’t like the way I feel when I’m carrying that bit of extra weight. There…I ate, I drank…A LOT. And now, I’m ready for moderation. I’m getting into my 30’s (January 31) and I realize that I just can’t keep fluctuating that much. The bingeing will catch up to me and it’s gotta stop. So that will be the start of my new year’s resolution I think.

Anyway, with that said…Here is my accountability. I am posting my workouts for the week. Start small. Reach your goals by writing them down. Do not beat yourself up. That starts a vicious cycle of guilt and anxiety. Instead, focus on your progress, and cut yourself some slack. No one is perfect. We are our own worst critics. Remember…to those who love us, to them…we are perfect just the way we are;) <3

Happy Tuesday lovelies! It’s been a FABULOUS day today, I must say….I’m absolutely loving my new job at Román Salon!
This morning I didn’t have a client till 11 am, so I took full advantage;) I woke up to my 5:45 A.M. iPhone alarm, thinking I would catch the 6:00 A.M. Hotyoga class at corepower, but instead, I decided to leave that for the evening and take a morning hike:)
Of course I woke up with a rumbling hungry tummy (as I always do) so, I quickly whipped up some super clean ( & low carb) coconut flour/banana pancakes. Here’s the recipe.

MAKES 8 SMALL PANCAKES

8 tbsp coconut flour

1/2 packet of stevia

7 egg whites

2 large eggs

1/2 mashed banana

Dash of cinnamon (optional)

NOTE: they cook pretty fast on a greased skillet, soooo, watch em’
I topped them with a little sugar free honey & figs:)

** COCONUT FLOUR
** ALMOND FOUR
** VANILLA (ALL NATURAL) PROTEIN POWDER
** EGG WHITES
** EGGS
** FROZEN/FRESH BANANAS
** STEVIA
** PB2
** GLUTEN FREE OATS
** 0% GREEK YOGURT
** UNSWEETENED ALMOND MILK
** FLAX MEAL
** ORGANIC CACAO POWDER
** CHIA SEEDS
** RAW NUT BUTTERS

These are usually my go-to baking products. All of these are available at your local health food market, so stock up your pantry, and get to playing and testing in that kitchen of yours! Staying on track of your healthy habits has never been so easy or delicious! Honestly, my substitutions for naughty breakfasts has kept me very satisfied, and I never feel as though I’m “missing out”. Get me?

Before heading out on my morning hike to Fryman Canyon, I made my morning green juice which consisted of the the following:

* 1 big Swiss chard leaf

* 4 Dino kale leaves

* 3 big romaine leaves

* a handful of parsley

* 2 stalks celery

* 1 small Persian cucumber

* fresh ginger

* fresh turmeric

* 1/2 green apple

* 1 lemon
I also have been adding some new faves to the mix:

**whole aloe juice

**chlorophyll
I have really been feeling the difference when having one of these in the morning.

It’s been such a hectic couple of weeks, that my folks offered to babysit Willy for this week, and I couldn’t be more greatful. I’m sorry, but having a pup with severe separation anxiety can be really stressful. I always feel so bad when I can’t be with him all the time. It stresses me out thinking about it frankly. So, luckily…he LOVES going to his grandparents house. Ugh…does it make me a bad mommy that I need a break????:(
Mom, sent me a pic of willy this morning. Look at him!!! Sooo happy! She took him to the park, and he ran wild!

Although pretty foggy still out, the hike was awesome! I would say, the loop ties about an hour all together. It’s a nice balance of uphill/downhill. If your into hiking, or even trail running/racing….you have GOT to get these trainers! They are so lightweight and fit like a dream. Oh, and no laces;) the Saloman Speedcross 3’s are THE ONLY SHOE TO BUY!!

I like seeing shoes worn and dirty. Gives them life.

By now, 8:30 am, I’ve still got an hour to kill before hopping in the shower. God I love this schedule!
Anyway, as you know….the weakest part of my body is my core. I remembered that last night, I had received my Spartan Race WOD email, and I was alllllllllll AB intense, so I threw my tired ass on the floor and started crunching, twisting, lifting, you name it…I was doin’ it. Lol.
Ok….now I’m DONE!

Had a really great day at work. Was fully booked from 11-4, then came home:) a little weird coming home to an empty house. I’m used to Willy crying and jumping up like a crazy for 45 minutes after I walk through the door. Lol.

I almost didn’t know what to do with myself being off so early. I’m used to not getting home till 7 on Tuesdays.
I had a quick snack and headed to CorePower for a 6:00P.M. Hot Power Fusion class. Although a bit tired, I felt really strong in today’s class.

I literally walk out of there dripping. As if I just got out of the shower. It’s so crazy. I tried to take a pic of how sweaty I was, but it really doesn’t suffice. In fact, this is a pretty dumb picture. Lol

I was starved after class, so I reheated some leftover baked salmon, and through it over a big salad. Omg, I just can’t get enough salmon these days. For dessert, I ate another one of those delicious pancakes from this morning. I couldn’t help it. Totally obsessed.
I’m actually in a bit of a food coma right now as I write this, so please excuse my grammatical errors and bad language, I swear, it’s my body telling me to shut the f*%k up and go to bed;)

Before I pass the EFF out, I am super excited about what I recently got in the mail!! Eeeeeeeeeeweeaaaaa, I love my friends at APS. (Allproscience) They have sent me some super sweet samples of recovery to try out. I’m super active, and just as important as fueling your body before a workout is, so is RE-fueling your body after. These are 100% natural, and have no artificial sweeteners. I am so feeling that. I seriously hate gimmicks. These peeps give to ya straight. I’ve had some great success with there GRASS FED WHEY PROTEIN in the past, so I’m excited for their new stuff. Check out my recipes using ALL PRO SCI grass fed whey.

Happy Thursday fit friends!! Not much to report today, but I honestly feel crazy if I don’t catch y’all up! My FF2F 50 days clean eats/no cheats is going really well! Well into it now, and I feel fantastic… Ok, I must tell you though…I have had some wine, oh and maybe a margarita….buuuuuuuut I’ve so so balanced lately, don’t I don’t consider that a cheat. Whatever, judgers. 😉

Anyway…my typical breakfast…. Egg whites are ALWAYS up in there. This was yesterday….

Egg white scramble with sautéed kale, red peppers, no salt organic turkey slices, green onion, and a bit of Homeboy Salsa. I always buy homeboy products because I LOVE what the company stands for, and of course, super duper tasty. This non-profit organization, Homeboy Industries, provides rehabilitation services and job training to ex-gang members and announced the launch of its first consumer products, salsa and tortilla strips, for sale through mass-distribution at over 256 Ralphs locations across Southern California. Pretty incredible. Please take a moment to watch this video to understand truly who incredible they are!

Bottom line: HUGE FAN.

 

My morning read. Women’s Health Magazine. Pretty much, the best FIT read out in my opinion. I especially HAD to have it when I read the front cover…”BEST ABS EVER!” as I stood in line at Target the other day. WTF, are you kiddind, YES PUUUULEAAAZZZEEEEEE!!!!!!Hardest part of my body to define, by far. ugh.

I taught Zumba yesterday morning at 10:30, so I made sure to eat that bomb ass breakfast early enough that it wouldn’t come back up as I danced my ass off.

REMINDER: If you do Zumba, PLEASE allow at least 1 hr of full digestion before coming to class……lol

What I generally do, is bring a protein packed snack for after class. Not gonna lie, I could eat a COW after class. You would feel the same if you took my HIGH-OCTANE class. 700 calories in 1 hour. Yeah….I thought so….

My AFTER CLASS MEAL:

Low salt low fat Cottage cheese by Lucerne

Organic RAW hemp seeds

fresh fruit

The rest of Wednesday was mellow, did a couple private clients (haircuts, that is) and came home to make this gorgeous multi colored salad. Simple, but full of protein. I try to take in around 25 grams of protein each meal.

LUNCH:

Kale

2 hard boiled eggs (mostly whites)

2 slices no salt turkey slices

Cherry tomatoes

Grapes

Sesame seeds

Olive oil/lemon/apple cider vinegar

Salt & pepper.

FINALLY made it to the dog park on Mulholland. Been wanting to take Willy there, but never could find the damn place. Anyway, as expected, Willy was not interested in playing with any dogs and was stuck to me like white on rice. No joke.

Tonight’s ZUMBA class was on fire!!! They killed it! The verdict on the polar heart rate monitor: A whopping 664 calories! Sweat like a beast, and worth every second of it!
After class, to participate in my friend’s 30 day squat challenge, we did 250 squats. NO LIE! I’m dying…. Although never tired enough to not pose for some dance studio SELFIES! Lol.
