Hi guys! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far:) A few days ago, I woke up super early (4 faaaakin 30 AM earlyyyy)  with the sudden urge to bake. So, I started researching recipes that I could make into something guilt free. I’m finally feeling like my body is slowly but surely normalizing after the carb-o-load that was, Italy…and the 3 weeks after that, that I just DIDN’T GIVE A FAAAAAK. Lol.  Although feeling back to normal, I’m still craving pastries, croissants, and all things sweeeeeeet. Yes, you absolutely can get addicted to sugar and carbs. The gelato I had 2x a day didn’t help the addiction. Nope.

Anyway ya’ll, I came up with these BOMB ass muffins that make you feel like you’re having a cheat, when in fact…it’s a GUILT FREE TREAT! Take a look at the ingredients up top…If you are like me, and like to whip up healthy treats…most of those things you should always keep around because they are a great base for healthy baking. Lets see the macros on these babies…

**Note: I MADE MINE INTO 12 MINI MUFFINS (50 CALS FOR 1, 100 CALS FOR 2) but, you can make a batch of 6 regular sized muffins. Topping is added in the macros**

(1 regular sized muffin. Mini= 50 calls each)

FAT: 1.4 G

I am completely obsessed! Here are you instructions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350*

2. Combine oats and almond milk and microwave for 1 minute.

3. Add in wet ingredients… applesauce, grated apple, egg whites (or 1 whole egg) and mix in.

4. In a separate bowl, mix coconut flour, protein powder (I used Met RX protein plus Vanilla), your choice of sugar sub, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon .

5. Combine wet and dry ingredients.

6. Grease or spray your muffin tins and fill evenly with mixture. (Not too full) Should make 6 regular sized muffins.

7. Bake at 350* for 20-25 mins.

Now…. For the TOPPING!

This is totally optional, but it is counted in the macros above. If you remove this step, it’ll save you about 20 calories. I used fat free sour cream with stevia and vanilla, BUT…you can do whatever your lil heart desires. I did it this way because it keeps it SUPER LOW in CALS, but you could also do a fat free cream cheese topping or even 0% greek yogurt.

I keep them in my fridge and have 2 mini muffins before heading to the gym in the mornings! They provide my body with the perfect balance of nutrients to fuel my body, and give me great energy to go a little harder! PLEASE try this recipe and let me know your thoughts!!! I’m open to tweaking it if need be! Sharing is caring, So, make sure to PIN IT (below) so you can always refer back!

It’s the freakin weekenddddd!!!

Today was a busy day in the salon, and for hairstylist’s…the weekend starts on Saturday! Woohoo;) My love surprised me and came into town so, we headed to a very HAPPY hour.

Peazneez Saturday Steez is all about style. I definitely wouldn’t call myself a fashionista, hmmm…maybe more of a Maxinista  if you will.(T.J MAXX obsessed)

DRESS: Urban Outfitters

I Don’t wear floral prints often, but I gotta be honest…I’m really loving it lately. Urban Outfitters has a great selection of long, comfortable dresses and that give length and shape to the body.  I’m a shrimp. 5’3 to be exact, but when I throw on heels and a long, slinky dress…shiiiit. I may as well be 5’8.

I’m a legs girl. Everyone has a body part that they flaunt, and any chance I get, the hams are out & exposed. Lol. Because of my (annoyingly) short torso…a long dress gives the illusion of a more lengthy torso. Am I crazy for thinking that that’s a real thing?

Anyway…one thing never changes…the wrist full of bangles.

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

As a hairstylist… I’m on my feet all day, and in the very moment I discovered Comfort Shoes, (mostly orthopedic)my whole world changed. Comfort shoes are all I buy now, and who says orthopedic shoes can’t be ADORABLE!? Btw, in Italy…it was all the rage. So…there! Make fun all you want. I don’t have bunions, and my tootsies are purrrrfect. lol.

Check out the next gift to yourself! Yep..dassss right. You heard me. Comfort chic at its finest!

Shoes: Patrizia Spring Footwear. Only $49.99!

Hope you all enjoy a beautiful weekend! xoxo!Name.jpg

THE GADARENE SWINE! Best Vegan In town!

In clean food, Dinner dates, Fridays, Restaurants, spotlight, Uncategorized, vegan, Vegetarian On June 5, 2015 0 Comments

Fresh Friday here at From Fries To Fit!

Although todays post is dedicated to my vegans…there’s no doubt that ALL vegans, carnivores, and vegetarians alike would go batshit over the beautifully crafted food at The Gadarene Swine. The VEGAN sister restaurant to Scratch BarLA, in which chef Phillip Frankland Lee offers a complicated, artistic but perfectly paired array of mostly animal fats & proteins. My kinda thing. FOR SURE. The Gadarene Swine is the OPPOSITE. Ode to the Vegetable! (without skimping on the flavor of course!) Have you ever heard of a meat eating chef opening up a vegan spot? Yeah, me neither. Well, when I caught wind of chef Lee’s “no animal, all vegan” new venture here in Studio City, I thought, “hmmm this could be perfect!”

Listen, I’m no vegan, and clearly, he ain’t either honey, but as a food lover…foodie…whatever you want to call it, I can appreciate the art and tastes of all cuisines.  The “Valley” has been on the way up in restaurant culture. The fact that I don’t have to shlep back to Downtown or Hollywood to have a delicious and interesting meal, makes me fuckin’ jump for joy! So, when my brother’s GF, Sarah, a veggie aficionado, came into town from Vancouver, I knew this was going to rock her world.

Sarah, Mom, & I walk in, and are immediately drawn to the beautiful, rustic garden patio. Wood, plants, and succulents everywhere. A mini oasis if you will. Let me make something clear here…this isn’t your typical “Veggie Grill” experience. This is fine dining babes. With that said… expect fine dining prices.

As we cozied up with our Pinot’s, we selected various dishes from the A La Carte menu. Other menu options include: 3 different chefs choice tasting menus, with option of wine pairing. So fancy for the “valley”right?!. Haha. Get into it people. It’s an experience, ok?! The staff was very nice. Each dish explained, and service was above par.

First up…Olive Stuffed Olives…. Holy, BEST THING I EVER, SO CAREFULLY PUT in my MOUTH!!!!  Soft on the inside, crispy on the outside without being greasy. Made with a touch of honey.

Each presentation better than the next. Homemade, lightly toasted sourdough alongside crushed tomato oil with balsamic glaze. This was so delicious! So full of flavor. I mean…it’s in a nest for god’s sake.

Ok, here’s where it gets really fabulous. Look at those colors! This, ladies & gents, is a multi-colored blackened cauliflower, over a bed of creamed cauliflower, topped with dehydrated cauliflower chips & chopped pistachios. O.M.GEEEEEEEE! Loaded inside a beautiful clay bowl, the display itself makes you NOT want to share. Chef Lee somehow manages to separate the flavors of the same vegetable through different textures and seasonings. FAVE!

Ok, mind you…I’m not eating all of this alone. Lol. Between 3 of us, we shared everything. Here is a shot of our next dishes up.

Dirty rice and Hand torn pasta with shaved onions. Both incredibly flavorful! The pasta was done al dente with pureed tomato sauce filled with great texture derived from capers, fresh greens, shaved onion and even, a hint of sweetness from a lil fruit. Perhaps it was pineapple. Not sure, but it definitely held up to, even some of the best pasta I had in Italy recently. The crispy rice was incredible. Brown rice flavored with nori, filled with mushrooms, squash, crispy onions, shaved carrots, avocado… etc. Honestly one of the best vegetarian/vegan meals I have ever had. I know ya’ll, bold statement, but I felt fresh, not heavy. Not one bite of tempeh, tofu..none of that. Everything centered around the “vegetable”.

In that bigger piece of heavy & beautiful pottery, is roasted mushrooms over burnt mashed sweet potato. Woohoooo!

Heres a close up. Beautifully dressed with a hint of acidity, the flavors pop in your mouth, & you really hone in on all the smoky flavor of the roast. With a mix of different mushrooms, fresh peas, greens, and a few crunchy nori chips, it all comes together in a big bowl of “Bitch, taste thissss!!!”

We had a wonderful experience here. The food… fresh, local, organic. Thanks The Gadarene Swine! Also, check out Scratch Bar in LA!

Hey ya’ll!! Happy Thursday!

Things are finally slowing down and back to normal since getting back from Italy. No more jet lag, and I’m back in the kitchen to whip up some favorites to share with you!

This post is special to me. Why??? Well… let’s just say that eggplant was NEVER a top veggie of mine. I was young and dumb with the palate of a 12 year old. LOL. Proud to say, that I’ve found my inner veggie monster and now, can’t imagine not having eggplant as a staple at Ranch Relaxo. (Mi casa)

The great thing about this dildo shaped veggie, is that it’s soooo versatile. You can grill it, bake it, roast it, fry it, baba ghanoush it, bread it…well, steamed…Hmmm. NOT SO MUCH;/

Today, I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to eat it. Freakin’ ROASTEDDDD!!! Before we get into it… i want to share some of the benefits of the Purp.

I used the big ones for this, but you are MORE than welcome to use the smaller Japanese eggplants. Most would argue that they are more flavorful. Maybe right, but I get more meatiness out of these. It’s great as a side dish or as a main for your vegetarian homies.

The recipe is above but let’s go through the instructions.

  • Rinse and pat dry eggplants.

  •  Cut lengthwise.

  • With a sharp knife, score the flesh deeply in diamond shapes.

  • Lay them down, open up cuts, and sprinkle with sea salt

  • Let sit, cut side up for 30 min to release excess water.

  • Pre-Heat oven to 400*

  •  Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • Wipe and lightly squeeze eggplants free of moisture and salt.

  • Brush cut side with olive oil (about 3/4 tsp each), sprinkle with garlic and thyme.

  • Place cut & seasoned side down onto lined baking sheet and roast at 400* for 45 min to 1 hr.

  • Once taken out, let cool for 30 min before handling. Use a spatula to carefully remove from paper.

  • Flip onto a plate. The eggplants will be a beautiful golden , caramel color and flattened out.

  •  Top with chopped cherry tomatoes, feta cheese (I use reduced fat),

  • In a small mixing bowl, which together 2 tbsp olive oil, 2 tbsp red wine vinegar, And 1 tbsp oregano.

  • Pour over the served eggplants with tomatoes and feta.

Ok…So, it’s been a while. I took off. Byeee. Sianara!(Is that now you spell it?)But, I’ve missed you, & If you’ve been following me on Instagram, then you already know I’ve connected with my Italian roots and went on an unforgettable 2 week solo trip to Italy! I know. Ridic. An experience of a lifetime that I will never forget, nor regret:) Some would call me crazy, and some…perhaps brave. All in all, despite a couple of bumps on the road…I made it out alive. hallelujah! So, how about a recap???

** First night in Rome…Campo Di Fiori** 11150695_847648821970323_5895275080777029745_n

Italy is IMPOSSIBLE to not fall in love with. Honestly, I highly encourage getting lost every chance you get. Every street lined with stunning, rustic buildings. Some almost falling apart…but non the less fit perfectly amongst its settings. Little family run boutiques…pizza joints everywhere…leather EVERYWHERE…the list is endless. For me, not enough hours in the day.

**My street, from my apt**

First things first…Tan these thighs on the spanish steps.

Probably the healthiest thing I ate the whole of two weeks. Don’t judge me. Happy pounds!;)

Made it to the Colosseum and the Forum. Stupid amazing!!! Although. A piece of advice…If it’s your first time in Rome, do yourself a favor and get a Roma Pass. It will save you hours and money on all the sights. I think I spent an hour and 1/2 in line trying’ to get in dis bitch! ugh. Anyways. You must seeeee!

The absolute highlight of Rome… The Pope’s blessing at the Vatican. With Grandma’s rosary in hand, I sat amongst thousands to see the pope. Wednesdays and Sundays, the pope is at St. Peter’s Basilica doing a blessing or holding mass for the public. A moment I will treasure forever. <3

St. Peter’s Basilica

LUNCH TIME!!!!! Ugh. It’s just insane.

Typical meal….Surprised I didn’t turn into a freakin pizza, with all the dough I ate. Oh…and BTW……I HATE it when people say, “You probably walked so much, you worked it all off right?!” Are you FAAAACkin kidding me!!? There’s not enough cardio in the world to that could work off the amount of food I consumed! LMAO With that being said…I gained 8 quality of life pounds. So. There.

**La MonteCarlo. Rome.**

Climbed to the highest and most beautiful vista point in Rome to represent my peeps! Quilmes all the way.

Hello view…

I must admit…I ate gelato twice a day for two weeks straight. When in Rome.

The morning market at Campo Di Fiori:)

Sistine Chapel comin’ at ya. I can’t even. 3 hour tour of the Vatican…St. Peters…& Sistine Chapel. Highly recommended and absolutely breathtaking.

Trastevere for a few hours. The Brooklyn of Rome. Hell…why not. Lets stop for a drink shall we?

Borghese Gardens.

Borghese Gallery.

Beautiful & fresh flowers at the morning market in Campo Di Fiori.

 Cured meats for dayzzzz….

New obsession with pecorino.

Big Daddy meat.

Trastevere has a charm like no other.

The local hustlers “charmed” me into buying 7 of these handmade pieces. oops.

Crossing over the bridge. Love this….

Dinner time…The streets are crowded, the restaurants filled with foodies…even if it’s 11 o’clock at night.  10997694_848629091872296_7886469290371656145_n

Spaghetti Alla Carbonara. Just stopppppp it!!!!

Armando Al Pantheon…You delivered.

I’ve always been obsessed with tile work. These beautiful, original tiles can be found throughout Vatican City.

Next adventure…Florence. (check out the wino purp lip) lmao!

Sunset views…mini Chianti…perfect weather…glorious food.

Night out. Classic in black and white.

A private wine tasting of super tuscans near Ponte Vecchio.

Boboli Gardens:)

Typical day… 8 hours of sightseeing. Stop every hour and 1/2 for drinks and food. Pretty much INCREDIBLE. Stoked on my 8 happy pounds I put on.

Best Panini in Florence. Antico Noe.

So, let’s talk about how amazing the shopping is in Italy…Now, let’s talk about how I only traveled with a carry on and couldn’t buy anything,(including these EFFING PERFECT shoes) because I couldn’t fit one more thing in my bag. UGHHHHH FML.

Couldn’t get enough of these beautiful statues everywhere I turned.

Now do you see why it is impossible to resist these perfectly handled and nurtured carbohydrates?!?! Homemade by someone’s italian mama, I would never say no. lol.

Not too sure that Americans are so into this… but tripe, is a staple in italian kitchens and for butchers. Love it in stews especially. YUMMMM

Every freakin morning. Italians aren’t sit down for breakfast type people. No eggs, bacon, or huge breakfast burritos. They’re too busy trying to catch the train, catch the bus, or… hmmm. Who the hell knows. All I know is that I’ll stand at the espresso bar, shoot one down and scarf a croissant in 2 minutes ANY DAMN DAY. Cuz betch, we bussssyyyy.

Gold district of Ponte Vecchio, Florence.

Ponte Vecchio view.

Tourist selfie. More importantly…how cute is my lil apartment?!

Not gonna front. Purchased several.

Spent lots of time visiting so many cathedrals. Don’t take this the wrong way here, as stunning and emotionally moving these holy places were, after the 10th one…they all started looking a weeee bit similar. (no offense to anyone. #catholicandproud) I shot a couple of them that I believed to be some of the most breathtaking.

The religious art, the structures, the stained glass, everything. One more beautiful than the next.

Cocktails and rooftops… Enjoying a negroni at the Westin Excelsior, Florence.

The “David” at the Uffizi. Isn’t he gorgeous?!

Check out that meat…mineeeee. Trattoria Mario, Florence

On this sunny day…I traveled from Firenze to Chianti by bus. If only I had an extra week in Tuscany. Sighhhhh.

I stumbled across the incredible Air bnb, and I wish I had more time there. Le Cetinelle is a tuscan farmhouse surrounded by hills and woodland. I think it was the absolute perfect location to really get the Tuscan, romantic experience.

Fell in love with the wisteria.

The whole property is breathtaking. I mean…

My fabulous host Simonetta. Thank you for a great stay and amazing breakfast! God…I love italian women. Such a sweetheart.

The wine just keeps flowing. Hired a driver, and visited several vineyards. Oh…and I need this machine. Thanks.

Stopped at Il Molino Di Grace for a private tasting.

I could live here.

This was my favorite vineyard I visited. Azienda Agricola Altiero, a rustic, quaint, family run vineyard, where everything coming from there is totally organic. The wonderful hosts served me a wide variety of cured meats, cheeses, homemade jams, and best of all..THE WINE! Delectable super tuscans, chianti classics, and great rose.

Bought a couple of those yummy bottles of rose to take with me to the Amalfi:)

That view tho….

Strolling through old town.

Hello Siena… Spent one day and night here. The terra cotta city is a perfect day trip from Florence. First things first…EAT. Check out my dinner view…

Took a break from all that dough (Now you’ll see me in baggier clothes & puffier cheeks) and ordered an array of grilled seafood.

Pizzeria Malborghetto is a local, hot eatery in the heart of Siena. Casual dining at it’s best, with incredibly authentic & fresh food. So bomb!

My typical snack…Aperol spritz, peanuts, and chips. So healthy.

Sweet daisies. Probably weeds…but in Italy, everything is beautiful.

View from my apartment. This sunny day clearly called for a delicious sparkling rose.

City view for days. The terra cotta city.

One more plate added to the collection:)

These little markets are everywhere. As a foodie…you can’t help but enter every single one of them.

Last leg of my Italian adventure… Amalfi Coast. Headed straight to Positano. Here’s a few pics of my Praiano day trip. Beautiful.

The crystal waters of my perfect Positano.

Apperently dinner alone as a women is a bit weird. I felt sexy, and independent..clearly the servers felt sorry for me and brought out food shaped like hearts. I.E. this pizza. Lmao.

Afternoon vino on the beach.

Remember that bottle I bought in tuscany?… Oh, and yes…That IS truffle cheese.

Loved my Positano hotel! Flavio Gioia is the perfect location. Affordable, and beautiful!!! And that tile!!!!! Wish I could’ve taken them home!

View from Fornillo Beach:) Just a short walk from the main beach in Positano.

Yeah…that’s a real thing. Helllllloooooo…

If you’re planning a trip to the Amalfi coast, Positano is a great location, especially as a jump off for day trips. Hopped on a ferry and was in Capri in 25 minutes.

Capri island view.

Oh hi hunnnayyyy!

Street art, Capri.

If only I could own this property. Just saying’ Dream garden.

Always wanted to do this! Finally got my ass into that famous Blue Grotto! Woohoooo. so coooool!

The Ferries drop you off at this tiny station where you pay 13 euro, and hop onto these tiny row boats. (otherwise can’t fit in the cave. lol) You are greeted by an italian man (the rower of the tiny boat) and told to duck your head as you enter this mysterious cave. Once inside…it’s like magic. He begins singing old italian folk songs as you admire incredible highlighter blue waters. Wow. Stoked to have that checked that off my bucket list!:)

It’s been real Capri.

Back in Positano…my selfie game was on point.

Couldn’t get enough of these awesome, vintage tiles all over town which were clearly hand painted.

Here we go again with the Faaaackin heart shaped food. Dying laughing at this point. What the hell. “Yes Senore, party of one!” Geeezuz.

Apparently this is “Italian island style” Hmmm. I guess I’m still deciding if it’s more…Hobbit, or Land of the Lost attire.

Simple, elegant, fresh…my perfect meal. Heirloom tomatoes with homemade mozzarella, oregano & olive oil. Dayyyummmm.

Now, this is my kind of “island style”

Bronzin’ at Spiaggia Grande, Positano.

Fornillo Beach. A quieter, more local beach. A few steps from Spiggia Grande.

That was the second bottle I bought of Rose. Different day…different set up. Lol. Don’t judge me.

Posted up for 4 days.

The beauty of this place simply just cannot be captured by photo. These hills and homes change colors with the hours of light in the day & the illumination of lights at night. There are no words.

My favorite dinner view. Ristorante Caffe Positano.

For the last 2 days left of my adventure…I headed back to Rome to meet my best friend of a million years for a reunion:) Friends don’t let friends eat carbs alone. Grazia & Graziella in Trastevere for lunch.

Met up with a super fun group of friends visiting rome, and started the night out with a beautiful 5 course meal.

The night was amazing. Filled with laughs, dancing, drinking way too much and decadent food. My kinda night.

Last day in Rome was spent with bestie<3 Time to catch my plane.

What felt like 45 HOURS  later…I was back at LAX. Strangely, It felt funny not hearing the Italian language. Lol.

This trip was an unforgettable experience! I got my eat, pray, love trip that I had always dreamed of. I gotta say though…as amazing as it was, I probably wouldn’t travel alone again. There were so many moments where I wished I had someone special to share them with.(bf was back home) I definitely learned soooo much during this trip. It was pretty life changing, to be honest. Absolutely empowering! I encourage every women to do this once in your life. Step back for a bit, re-focus, find what drives you. Be spontaneous because you never know when you’ll ever get that chance again. Not trying to preach here, but, GET IT GURRRL!!!

Hello Beauties:)

Hope everyone is having a GREAT week! As I get prepped and ready for my italian vacation (I knowwwwwww!), I wanted to make sure that I paid homage to all the incredible MOMS out there! Since I won’t be able to celebrate on the actual day, I am making sure to celebrate my wonderful mom and grandmother this Sunday!

I consider myself VERY lucky to be able to call my Mom one of my best friends. She listens…(even when I’m irrational), she doesn’t judge…(even when I royaly F*%k up), She assures me that I’m perfect just the way I am…(even after I’ve devoured a whole pizza and look like a cow), and she gives me my space when I need to think.

This year, I feel blessed to have my Grandma finally here from Argentina,( after 20 years of trying to get her here!) and can’t wait to have a girls day of Love, Family, food, and celebrating!

I know everyone is different, but after doing some research in looking for the best, unique gifts for Mom..I think I’ve come up with a handful of affordable, beautiful gifts that Mom would freak over:)

Ok. This is STUNNING!!! If it wasn’t Mother’s Day, I’d be buying this beauty for myself gurrrl! This personalized ” love birch cuff”, is a made-to order gift by: Nancy Nelson for

 Love this:

Each one is custom engraved with two sets of initials, evoking the romantic tradition of carving lovers’ names into bark. Jewelry artist Nancy Nelson hand casts the brass band from real birch bark that she collected along the southern shore of Lake Superior in Wisconsin. The detailed texture of the bark evokes the rich, spontaneous stroke of an artist’s brush. The understated heart cutout pairs beautifully with the birch tree’s traditional symbolism of protection and resilience. Handmade in West Virginia.

Cork watch by: SPROUT.  An eco friendly watch company. I’m sorry…but you don’t have to be a total wino to appreciate the sasssss in this timepiece! It’s different, super cute and wearable, and oh yeah… only…

Love this:

Its slender band is made from all-natural cork, derived from the sustainably harvested bark of the Cork Oak. Cork is durable, flexible, and naturally water resistant. It’s paired with a casing made from biodegradable corn resin, and a mercury-free battery.

Mom’s would do anything for their children. In fact…they’re so obsessed with us, that they would want nothing more than to wear our initials around their neck. Yep. FLAUNTING! This is a fabulous gift idea babes! Its a beautiful 14 karat filled (won’t tarnish. WAYYYY better than gold plated)personalized necklace by ACharmedImpression at Etsy for ONLY:

This reversible tote handbag by TARGET is modern, stylish & the best part…OVERSIZED! Perfect to throw allll mom shit in! LOL. Work stuff, gym stuff, kid stuff, beach stuff. It’s legitimately the bombbbb. Only:

Love this:

It’s vegan…and reversable!

I don’t care where you live…the sun shines everywhere! Well, at least at some point throughout the year. Lol. Here in LA…Hats are not only an accessory, but a necessity ya’ll. This gem I scored on the H&M website and don’t hesitate to browse at all the other styles available too! Only:

Love this:

Straw hat and actually comes in sizes!!! NOT one size fits all bullshit! woohooo

Last but not least…Thissss! While browsing through my Pinterest, I saw this and thought…WOW. This would be a perfect centerpiece for a dining table! I don’t know bout’ your fams, but we like to eat…we like to throw parties, BBQ’S, and gather around a table to celebrate life… If you don’t know me by now…I’m OBSESSED with flowers…fresh, that is. C’mon, what girl isn’t mmmkayyy! This caterpillar bud vase allows you to pick fresh from the garden, put one flower, or even just a branch. Whatever mix match you want. It’s the perfect way to set the tome for you entertaining. MOM’S FREAK OVER THIS:) ONLY:

Love this:

If a single bud in a vase punctuates your decor with color and life, then this unique piece is more like an entire poem. The row of glass bubbles each holds a small blossom or two, allowing you to create a delicate floral centerpiece. Celebrate the changing palette of wildflowers throughout the year, or capture garden blooms, juxtaposing their shapes and colors into the perfect visual haiku.

Put a little extra though into it this year, and plan something special:)These are the moments that make memories that really matter. I know you don’t have to wait for a holiday..but to be honest….I don’t think we celebrate life enough. Especially celebrating those who brought life to us. I hope that one day… my kids love me, and respect me as much as I do the women in my life.

To all you Mamasitas out there..

Hello and happy Sunday! My favorite day of the week and you know what time it is!!! It’s BRUNCH time. Lol.

I’ve got a post for you today that is dedicated to the waffle. Before I pour myself a mimosa…here are a few recipe faves to switch up the sunday ideas.

Hanging out with the family today, and spending some much needed grandma time. We headed to the Antalope Valley Poppy Reserve after breakfast to see the beautiful fields of poppy’s that cover the hills. Welp….sadly…not one god damn poppy to be found everywhere. LMAO. All we got was 1 hr of sweet car ride tunes. We got there, and turned right back around. lol.

Back at Rancho Relaxo…Norma, my Ficus Lyrata is doing marvelously at home. Mom taught me to clean the leaves with milk and since doing so, the leaves are shiny and bright!

Cheers to prosecco and fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Hallelujahhhh The new fave!

They’re pretty, pink, and sets the tone for the freakin’ weekennnnnnd!

  • 1 750ml bottle of Prosecco, chilled

  • 3-3.5 cups of fresh grapefruit juice (~4 very large), chilled

  • Sweetener ( I used a couple drops stevia) or simple syrup (optional)

So…here they are…Its waffle time! These are a healthier, grain free, paleo option to the typical leggo my eggo. If you don’t have a waffle maker (I feel bad for you) this batter, which is one serving…can also be done on the skillet and devoured as a pancake. Das right.

For me, eating healthier, doesn’t need to affect the flavor. These are so yummmmmyyyy! There may be more ingredients than you are used to, but…get into it. Don’t give me sh*t.

The recipe is above and I hope you give it a try…I topped these fabulous #eatclean waffles with some Nature’s Hollow sugar-free syrup and some chopped pecans. Absolutely divine, delicious, and The recipe made 2 big waffles and I cut them into triangles…you know…so that it looks prettier and it looks like there is more on the plate. Lol.

It’s not that I NEVER eat carbs..I mean, please betch… but when I can limit without comprising bomb-nesss, I do. Give-n-take boo’s.

Just so you know…It’s lunch hour…& I am now eating spinach tart, fresh mozzarella, quinoa chips with kale dip, and having sangria. It’s the simple things in life that keep us happy, lol. Spent the night hanging out with my besties catching up and feeling baby bumps..(not mine, lol) , and now got all the fam over for an afternoon of snacks and sangria. That’s what I call..a weekend

Delicious pizza in less than 20 minutes!

In At home cooking, popular recipes, Uncategorized On April 14, 2015 0 Comments

If you’re gonna sit here and try to tell me you’re NOT a pizza lover, I want you to know that, we ALLLLL know you are LYINGGGGG!!! Lol. Listen, I’m not eating it every night or anything, but in my new balanced approach to eating, it’s give a lil, take a lil. Weekends…maybe I take a little more;) I love being in the kitchen, but when having friends over, I prefer pouring some great wine, and spending time with my loved ones.

This weekend, I made some super quick, but INCREDIBLE semi-homemade pizzas that left me thinking “screw chicken n’ veggies…I’m trying’ to have this shit every freakin night!”

Although it may be fun for a “real” chef to make a homemade crust…Im a wanna be chef…( not a real one, lol)so I’m allowed to take the easy route. I got lucky when I realized that the easy route was just as, or better than a lot of pizzas out there. The BIG plus, is that I made two individual pizzas in 20 minutes! I found these Stonefire Flatbreads at my local Ralphs market. Completely obsessed! I’ve had them before but only dipped with hummus, So I thought ummm, helloooo…PIZZA!!!!!

Anything that involves bread..cheese…and…well, yeah, just bread and cheese, in my eyes is HEAVEN! I thought I’d pick up a different type of cheese this time, other than typical mozzarella.

For real, intense flavor and melts beautifully. This Garlic, basil cheese by Sincerely, Brigitte is amazing!

I complicate life in general, so with my pizza, I like to keep it simple. This post isn’t gonna be the healthiest of meals, but I did manage to save a few calories by using Boar’s Head Turkey Pepperoni  instead of the full fat pepperoni. I promise, you won’t even know the difference.

Alright…super simple situation here.

  1. Pre heat oven to 400* or in pizza mode in convection oven

  2. Lay out the two pizzas on a flat surface.

  3. Spread a thin layer of tomato paste over the flatbread

  4. Add slices of cheese

  5. Sprinkle with oregano (Pro italian tip)

  6. Add desired other toppings.

  7. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes

  8. Cook for 12-15 minutes (depending on how crispy you prefer it)

Totes easy right!? My two favorite pizzas, as you can see, are Margarita & thinly sliced green pepper and pepperoni.

My favorite way to serve pizza, well, most foods…is a on a rustic wood block or cutting board. I looks fantastic when serving and easy for clean up. This will definitely impress. The best part is that you don’t have to be slaving away in the kitchen or ordering Pizza Hut. This is a perfect in between, SEMI-Homemade way to customize and enjoy with your friends.

This is absolutely gonna be a weekend treat that I’ll be making again! Did this inspire you to enjoy some cheesy carbs!? I hope so;

Date Night.

This weekend was fantastic! Jordan Spieth won The Masters…Un-F*%@ing-Believable! We had a great time watching the tournament mostly at home (rancho relaxo) but managed to hit up our local sports bar on the last day of it to watch it with some friends.

Watching the tournament was getting us inspired so we went and hit balls at Weddington Golf 2 days in a row! Lol I’ve really enjoyed learning more about the game, and little by little, my swing is getting better.

As you know from my first post back, my BF and I go back n’ forth from LA to the BAY…so this was his weekend to come here ;)  This post is dedicated to our favorite spot near my house. Never fails. We go there EVERY time he comes to town.

Date night is the best! For the most part, if I’m not in the salon...I’m in some sort of sports/workout wear, so dressing up for a nice dinner is a freakin treat.

Tipple and Brine’s “Social Hour” otherwise…Happy Hour, lol starts at 4:30 and goes until 6:30. We typically get there 5:30 and enjoy $2 chef’s choice oysters, and $7 dollar Old Fashioned’s. Seriously AMAZING! The bartenders know what they’re doing. The oysters are always fresh and constantly changing.

The best is if you can make it there on Mondays…DOLLAR OYSTERS!!! Ummmm, hello!

I think the best seats in the house, are the high tables or at the bar. What I mostly LOVEEEE about the restaurant, is it’s vibe..its decor. It’s totally my style. Rustic but sexy. lol. It’s got a barn like feel and is definitely comfortable. I love having a place like this finally show up on my side of the hood. haha.

Crispy Bacon Toast burrata / leeks / fennel pollen $10

This was AMAZING!!! Also try the:

Mushroom Toast goat cheese / caramelized onions / aged balsamic $10

Their full menu hits all the faves… Oysters, Veggies, Sea, Land and Dessert. Everything fresh, and I haven’t tried anything I didn’t love.

Always start off with a dozen oysters, and extra crispy fries;)

After dinner we headed upstairs to the Tunnel Bar(which opens at 7) for a dessert cocktail and a nice sunset vibe on the rooftop.

Andddd… the view’s not so bad either;)

Ended our date with heatlamps and whiskey, and an uber ride for 4 bucks. lol

Next Up: Semi-Homemade pizzas for a movie night in! Stay posted! XOXOX

Eggs Benedict With Skinny Hollandaise

In At home cooking, Breakfast, popular recipes, Protein breakfast, Uncategorized On April 12, 2015 0 Comments

Good morning beauties! So happy to be back and sharing again! This fine Sunday morning is devoted to enjoying a rest day and cookin’ up a delicious brunch.

This Sunday is particularly special because it’s freakin Masters weekend!!!!!!!!Helloooooo! The Super Bowl of golf y’all. Das right.

My bu’s in town, so it’s been fun cooking up something a lil different other than my typical egg white omelette with a side of veggies, lol. (I tend to save my carbs for dinner and wine)

Sunday brunch at Rancho Relaxo (mi casa) though, is always a treat. Todays agenda includes…

  1. champagne+oj….Ummm. A mimosa. Or 4. Or 5 lol

  2. Eating this bomb ass breakfast of eggs benedict

  3. Hitting the driving range for some much need golf swing practice with Kyle

  4. Meeting up with cousins and friends at Rocco’s Tavern to watch the last day of the Masters Tournament.

  5. Afternoon siesta (it is a day of rest after all:)

  6. Homemade pizzas for dinner

Benedict is absolutely a brunch staple. Always been a fave for me. I find one freakin problem with it though…

The hollandaise sauce…listen, don’t get me wrong, it’s the bombbbb, but just soooo rich and butter heady. Honestly, I just can’t even. Obviously every once in a while is fine, but when brunching every Sunday is a hobby, you try and find healthier alternatives, lol.

This recipe for a yogurt based hollandaise sauce cuts the calories by 80% and tastes divine! All the ingredients and instructions are above, so try it out and let me know what you think!

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Its 75 degrees out here today, and we’re loving it! Happy SUNDAY! xoxo

I’m Backkkkkk!!!!

In family, Uncategorized On April 10, 2015 6 Comments

Oh heyyyyooooo!!!! Well, well, well….look who’s back!!! Oh boy…where do I EVEN start? So, here it goes. After a longgggg (over a year:/) hiatus…I’m happy to say, From Fries To Fit has finally made a return. Lol. I’m not gonna sit here and bore you with everything that’s gone on within this past year that I haven’t been writing, but I will say…life keeps you on your toes, I mean…life has flipped upside down, and now, I’m returning to find a very happy balance. That is, in life, love, and health.

I no longer obsess or have anxiety over being in perfect shape, counting every calorie, or bingeing. Every lil bit of progress that I’ve made this past year has made my quality of life so much better. Who cares if you fluctuate a few pounds. That’s life. So whatever. With that being said… My posts starting now, will be more focused on what I truly enjoy…and that is cooking, family, travel, healthy living, style, decor, and entertaining. Not constant posts about training and fitness. To. Be honest, that just ended up sending me into a whirlwind of constantly trying to keep up.

So, bare with me y’all. I will VERY soon be updating the site with a new look. If you all don’t yet follow me on instagram as @fromfriestofit…do so now puleazzzeeee.

In more recent news, lol….I now have short hair. Well…it was short. Now, I’m all…”long hair, don’t care!” I’m growing it. Woohoo. It’s finally past the awkward stage. Girls, you know what I mean by this. Color wise…still ombre. Honestly, it may be a bit 2013, but IDGAF. It’s low maintenance and I’m kinda feelin’ it. If you’re looking for a great colorist in LA, see my girl Christina at Román Salon.

Welp…there they are. My favorite peeps. Been very fortunate to be spending a lot more time hangin’ with my cute lil fam. Oh look…I’m drinking a margarita…what a surprise. Lol. Here we are enjoying a vegan night out ( brothers’ a veg.) at Gracias Madre in LA. I love this pic because we rarely go out to eat as a family. We are much more, at home BBQ type folks, but I gotta tell ya…as a non vegan, I realllly enjoyed the food! The restaurant is STUNNING, the bar is really rustic looking with a very open feel. The outdoor space is…I mean, forget it. Cozy, inviting, and a bit old Mexico style. I highly recommend it. Even just for the chips, salsa, and a jalapeño margarita with your girls;)

My other loves….these boys. Been spending a bit of time, as of lately, traveling back n forth from the Bay Area visiting my man (we switch off every 12 days lol) and his big, bear faced rot, Sonny. Swooooon. (You all know my crazy poodle mix, Wilbur already<3) Ok, yes. It’s long distance, but not by far. Yes, it’s hard, but we make it work… And, yes, crazy and for each other.;) Anyway…love this pic. Typical Sunday at the parental unit, eating lots of Argentinian BBQ meat and chorizo. Das right.

Since I’ve seen you last on FF2F…I’ve picked up a new hobby. Yep. So into it. I mean…I haven’t yet played an actual game lmao…but working on my swing like a profeshhhh. With a coach n’ all. Say what you will now betches, soon enough…I’ll be Tiger Woods’n circles around your asses. Lol. In the sun, beer in hand, and someone else carrying my clubs. Byeeee. Wouldn’t thaaaaat be niceeeee!? I figured this sport, and yes, I consider it a sport…not just a game, would be a nice switch up from my typical crazy workouts, or more extreme sports I’ve played. It’s all about enjoying the outdoors and not being so hard on my body.

Within the past year…all my besties are now preggo, married, or engaged. Lol. Lots of showers of all sorts to plan. Can’t wait to share pics and ideas!

Probably the most influential part of this year, was this woman right here. My beautiful grandmother who was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. After 30 years of us living in the states, and her in Argentina…we were finally able to get her here to spend the rest of her life with us, her family. Only positive and happy vibes from here on out…and a mammogram ASAP. I don’t care if I’m only 31. Early detection is key babes.

As I start this new chapter of From Fries To Fit, I want to thank you all for letting me share a piece of me with you. I’m feeling really good about this, and I can’t wait to share some great recipes, entertaining & decor ideas, style and beauty inspiration…

Keep in touch and be on the lookout! Xoxox

Hello lovely friends! Hope everyone had a fabulous & safe Memorial Weekend! I spent the weekend in Santa Barbara & Los Olivos for a little wine tasting. It really was great to get away for a few days. Los Olivos is one of my FAVORITE weekend getaways.

So, if ever out that way…some great wineries to stop at include:

Anyway…just thought I’d share a few of my top! ;) Moving into this new week, (since the past three days have been gluttonous) I’m back on track with my diet.

TODAY will be a very LOW CARB! Lol,  this is what my extreme ass does when coming off a HIGH CARB, I don’t give a fakkkk weekend. I go the other extreme.

*egg whites…chicken breast…lettuce. no joke.

Todays recipe, is one that I made last week, but didn’t get the chance to share yet. I just cant get enough of pineapple lately, so I’ve been puttin’ that shit on everrrrrrythang! As you know, I often find inspiration for trying new experiments through my Instagram friends.

While scrolling through, I noticed the homie, @fitseed , post a delicious lookin’ Pineapple Coconut Cake. I was like, “ooooommmggeeeeeee!” Yep. Making this NOW! I had all the ingredients, plus a few subs, so I got to mixin. OOHHHH, & if you’re VEGAN, click here , she posts the vegan alternative!

You can find the recipe above. The Instructions could not be EASIER!

  1. PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 *
  2. GREASE A SMALL LOAF PAN OR ANY CUTE/SMALL PIE PAN;) (I use coconut oil spray from TJs)
  3. MIX ALL DRY INGREDIENTS IN A MEDIUM BOWL.  (Protein, coconut flour, shredded coconut, baking powder, cinnamon, pinch of salt)
  4. NOW ADD WET INGREDIENTS. (egg whites, vanilla extract, SF honey or agave)
  6. COOK FOR 12-15 MINS. (She says 30 min, but mine cooked much faster in my breville convection oven.)

The best part of this whole thing….is eggggzactly that. This recipe is for 1 serving!!! That means…you get to eat the WHOLE thing! Ok, here’s the breakdown of the nutritional facts.

(Carbs that come from fiber have a minimal affect on blood sugar)

  1 Serving
Amount Per Serving
  Calories 298.0
  Total Fat 9.0 g
  Saturated Fat 3.5 g
  Polyunsaturated Fat 0.0 g
  Monounsaturated Fat 0.0 g
  Cholesterol 32.5 mg
  Sodium 125.4 mg
  Potassium 218.8 mg
  Total Carbohydrate 27.7 g
  Dietary Fiber 8.5 g
  Sugars 4.5 g
  Protein 23.2 g

So this whole breakfast, Which will FOR SURE keep you full for a good while, is only 298 calories!!!

I keep my meals around 300 calories each, 5 X a day.  This is on point! It doesn’t taste healthy, but IT ISSSSS BETCHES!

These types of “protein cakes” are my favorite meal for a good strength training day. Lots of protein, healthy cabs, and fat. With only 4.5 grams of sugar…I mean…c’mon. You all need to try this. It takes NOOOO TIME!:)

**You can top it with a little more chopped pineapple, or chopped banana, or maybe some cushed nuts. What the Hell…Just play with it. Be aware of added calories for optional toppings:/

So moving on…Other than Kim K and Kanye getting married…I have a new GET THE LOOK!! DASSSSSS ITTTTTT!

But seriously… I haven’t posted a “get the look” in a long ass while. Oh, and if you’re hating on my selfies…stop hatin. I’m a blogger. I’m allowed, and I like my outfit…so what!? #gurlbyeeee

Hello Friends!!!!

I don’t know what the hell has come over me. I have had a serious case of writers block or, frankly…laziness the pastcouple weeks. womp wompppppp. I mean, I’ve been working out and cooking, but have been totally neglecting you all.

Ugh, my lack of blogging has become out right embarrassing. lol.

Anyway, today, Thursday morning at 6:00 A.M. I have finally busted out my old ass Macbook Pro and sat at my desk to bring you a very much awaited post. I’ve been dying to post this YUMMMMYYY ass recipe Of….wait for it…..

I was stoked to receive a great package from Mamma Chia to try out and to share my opinion. I am NOOOOOO stranger to the wonderful benefits of chia seeds. Let me tell you. I’ve always LOVED a great chia pudding! In one tablespoon of chia you will consume 2,430 mg Omega-3s, 4 grams fiber, 3 grams complete protein, and ONLY 60 calories!!!

In wanting to try a new recipe, I started researching some of the blogs I follow for inspiration.

I found the perfect recipe to share! This recipe is by my homegirl over at, and she killed it with this recipe for:

I followed it pretty much to how she made it, and the results were incredible!!!! Just a few key ingredients, and you’ve got yourself a bowl of SUPERFOOD heaven!

The recipe is listed above, but again:

  • 1/2 cup lite coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 3/4 cup fresh ripe mango, diced
  • 2 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened reduced fat shredded coconut
  • 4-6 drops liquid stevia(or agave/honey to taste)

  1. In a bowl, add 2 tbsp CHIA seeds & Unsweetened Reduced Fat Shredded COCONUT
  2. Add your Light Coconut Milk (I used this one), and your Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. ( I use this one) & your sweetener of choice. I used my fave sugar free honey by Natures Hollow.
  3. Mix and beat with a fork and you will begin to notice the chia seeds and mix become gelatinous. THIS IS GOOD!
  4. Now, fold in your very ripe chunks of mango.
  5. Place in fridge for and hr or two. WOWOWOWOWOWO!!!!

Servings: 2 • Size: 1 cup Calories: 159.1 • Fat: 9.6 g • Protein: 3.6 g • Carb: 17.9 g • Fiber: 6.5 g • Sugar: 9.2 g Sodium: 52.2 mg  20140428-161805.jpg  Before I get into this fabulous MAMMA CHIA giveaway, I wanted to share with you (if you already don’t know) The AMAZING benefits of CHIA seeds. Chia seeds are super rich in Omega-3s, antioxidants, protein, and fiber. It contains calcium, manganese, and phosphorus, and is a great source of healthy omega-3 fats. As an added benefit, chia seeds can be eaten whole or milled, while flax seeds have to be ground before consumption in order to access their health benefits for example. LOOK — 10 reasons to add chia seeds to your diet: (source:

Combat Diabetes Chia is being studied as a potential natural treatment for type-2 diabetes because of its ability to slow down digestion. The gelatinous coating chia seeds develops when exposed to liquids-can also prevent blood sugar spikes.

Get More Fibre  Just a 28-gram or one-ounce serving of chia has 11 grams of dietary fibre — about a third of the recommended daily intake for adults. Adding some chia to your diet is an easy way to make sure you’re getting a good amount of fibre, which is important for digestive health.

Stock Up On Omega-3 Chia seeds are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, with nearly five grams in a one-ounce serving. These fats are important for brain health. “There’s better conversion of omega 3s into the plasma or into the food than with flax seed,” said researcher Wayne Coates.

Stronger Teeth And Bones  A serving of chia seeds has 18 per cent of the recommended daily intake for calcium, which puts your well on your way to maintaining bone and oral health, and preventing osteoporosis.

Don’t Forget Manganese  Manganese isn’t a well-known nutrient, but it’s important for our health: it’s good for your bones and helps your body use other essential nutrients like biotin and thiamin. One serving of chia seeds, or 28 grams, has 30 per cent of your recommended intake of this mineral.

Plenty Of Phosphorus With 27 per cent of your daily value for phosphorus, chia seeds also helps you maintain healthy bones and teeth. Phosphorus is also used by the body to synthesize protein for cell and tissue growth and repair.

Pack In The Protein  Chia seeds also make a great source of protein for vegetarians and don’t have any cholesterol. One 28-gram serving of these super seeds has 4.4 grams of protein, nearly 10 per cent of the daily value.

Fight Belly Fat  Chia’s stabilizing effect on blood sugar also fights insulin resistance which can be tied to an increase in belly fat, according to Live Strong. This type of resistance can also be harmful for your overall health.

Get Full. Faster Tryptophan, an amino acid found in turkey, is also found in chia seeds. While tryptophan is responsible for that strong urge to nap after a big Thanksgiving dinner for example, it also helps regulate appetite, sleep and improve mood.

Improve Heart Health  According to the Cleveland Clinic, chia seeds have been shown to improve blood pressure in diabetics, and may also increase healthy cholesterol while lowering total, LDL, and triglyceride cholesterol. All good news for your ticker! If that doesn’t make you wanna run to your nearest market and splurge on some CHa Cha CHIA seeds, Shit, I dunno what else to tell ya! lol. 20140428-161823.jpg

My loves!!!!! How are you all!? Hmm? I’m starting off my week gettin shit done. That’s right… Errands…cooking…gym…picking up the pup..eating…drinking wine…lol. Towards the end of the night…I become lazier & lazier…
Anyway… Today’s post is DA BOMB!
Y’all know me, and know that I love incorporating RAW & VEGAN recipes into my everyday diet. Yes…I do eat lots if animal products…what can I day… I love animals;) Of course all animal products I purchase are responsibly raised and farmed, and don’t get it twisted…I’m very aware of what I consume. I keep to a pretty protein rich diet because CARBOHYDRATES (mostly simple carbs) effect my body too much. I swear…I can feel the lbs coming on after a big carb intake. Lol.

You can imagine my freak out when I saw my friends PURELY TWINS new E-book!

The No Flour Cracker & Flatbread e-Book!

These babes are amazing! I love supporting fellow bloggers on their personal health journies, and these girls are always motivating me to keep playing in my kitchen, jumping around in front of the mirror, and keeping it natural and healthy!

On top of this fab new cookbook, they also offer online fitness programs, loads of amazing recipes on their blog, and so much more. Thanks Lori & Michelle for sharing this book with me, cuz I went nuttzo over it! Y’all, I think you will too. For real.

Although they are not purely “raw foodies”, they see the importance of healthy clean snacks. They actually used to own and operate and a gluten-free vegan bakery. I promise all folks are gonna think these crackers and flatbreads are delicious. The best part…. You don’t need a dehydrator for these recipes. You can easily make all of them in the oven;) yep. Oh did I mention this 49 page e-book is only $4.99!

The No Flour Cracker and Flatbread Cookbook is your complete gluten-free, vegan, mostly grain-free, soy-free, dairy-free, egg-free, paleo-friendly, real food cookbook!

So, I gotta admit…it’s been a minute since I dehydrated food…so I dug up my big ass ( I swear, commercial sized) dehydrator outta the garage, dusty and all, and began to put in WRK!
This right here, is the best part about these recipes…. U literally throw everything into a food processor and pulse, Pulse PULSE!

Ima share a couple of my fave ones from the book:)
First one I tried…

Have fun with these! Cut them into any shape!
Look up reasons for dehydrating HERE!

Holy delicious and FULL OF FLAVOR! If you notice, in the recipe, it does give both dehydrator & oven instruction for a NO FAIL first try! I personally love using my dehydrator for theses because I maintain all essential nutrients and enzymes. When you use the oven, make sure to use on a very low temp.

Once finished, and ready to devour…you can top with absolutely anything!!!! I love me some avocado, so I smushed a bit on top, added some diced cherry tomatoes and topped with a sprinkle of nutritional yeast. Freakin #nomnom.

Next up….

So, I love anything with a bit of a sweet touch. Lol. This beet flatbread was incredible!
Made with beets, apples, almond flour, chia, etc… has the most amazing sweet & nutty flavor. I died over this.

I made mine, again, in a dehydrator to keep them raw. (Nothing above 110 degrees) below are directions for both oven and dehydrator.

Most of you already know that I like to keep to a pretty gluten free, low carb diet, so this book really shouted out to me. When keeping to that kind of diet, I feel fantastic. I am full of energy, never dragging ass, and when I slip and have my typical once a wk carb-0-load….I really pay for it.
Bloated, uncomfortable, and heavy. Not cute.
With that being said…the chances of me going out and buying “crackers” is outta the f*@kin question. This e-book from my friends has made, NOT eating “flour” an absolute joy. Lol. Sounds cray, but seriously….

You can even keep this spread solid & thinner (without cutting into squares) and make sandwich wraps!

I had some leftover raw zucchinis, so I threw them in my vitamix and made RAW ZUCCHINI HUMMUS! this goes fabulous with these beet flatbread squares! The the creamy & tartness from the tahini & lemon in the hummus pairs beautifully with the sweet and salty if the flatbread! It’s amazing.
You FOR SURE will not regret spending 5 bucks on this Incredible book!

If you LOVE these recipes, you will dieeeee over these other 2 cookbooks they’ve got! More for the SWEET lover!

Hey guys! Hope everyone enjoyed a fabulous weekend off! I had a super relaxing and fun weekend. Well, full of errands, but also full of fam and friends time:) got a couple if really great workouts in as well. That always makes me feel amazing. Sunday we did the Santa Monica Stairs, and today, I took a great barre class at Exhale in the gorgeous Fairmont Hotel in Santa Monica. Nice switch up from Sundays cardio. We smashed those stairs though, for real. My calves were begging for mercy in Barre today! Lol.
Anyway, I I wanted to share with y’all a little review I did on some really fab new wines from Brancott Estate. I was asked to review them, #1: cuz you know this chick lovessss her vino, and #2: cuz it’s totally up all our alleys!!!

20% lighter in calories!!!!
Y’all know I love to find new and great ways to still enjoy these treats without being a cow, so I thought it would be appropriate, right!?!?
Jeeeeezzzzuzzzzzz! Faaaakkkkk! Sign me up.

Let me brake it down…
* Compared with Brancott Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2012 & Pinot Grigio 2012. Per 5 fl. oz. serving of Brancott Estate Flight Song Sauvignon Blanc / Pinot Grigio. Average Analysis: Calories 88/87, Carbohydrates 4.5g/5.2g, Protein Og/Og, Fat Og/Og

Now…again, I have to tell you this, cuz I’m profeshhhhhh, but seriously, always bring you my true opinion.
(I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Millennial Central for Brancott Estate Wines. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.)

These wines are sooo perfect for this beautiful sunny weather we are having! They are not heavy on the alcohol, so you will not feel like a sack of rocks, but also very light and crisp. For me…there is nothing light a glass of chilled white in the warm weather!

The first one I tried from my lil swag bag, was the Brancott Pinot Grigio.

Clearly, this is a fun wine to enjoy with a girlfriend! I mean, you could also enjoy with the boyfriend..with fam…or at home alone like a creep too. Lol. I headed to my friend Jule’s house for some snacks and give this a go. We are both into clean eating and lighter fare, so this was our girls evening!

Ook, so…the bottle seemed to have gone wayyyyy to fast. It was a warm night in the valley, and it was just what the doc ordered. Super crisp with a nice clean finish. It was delectable! Absolutely nothing heavy about this wine at all!
In fact, Jules was even asking about getting a case for an upcoming party. What I loved, was that there was nothing complicated about it. Really can be paired with a lot! This particular Pinot Grigio captures wonderful floral notes, ripe apple and nashi pear & pure freshness. Full of taste and lighter in calories. (A freakin bonus!)

The other gem that I tried was baby! The Sauvignon Blanc.

Now this one…now this one was a family affair! We all had a bit with our Easter Argentinian BBQ;)
Dad was “Grill Master” of course, and he neverrrrr lets down!

Dinner consisted of:

**ENTRAÑA (skirt steak)

**SALAD (traditional oil/vinegar)

YEP. That could could NOT get anymore Argentinian!

The Sauvignon Blanc is definitely a a bit more full-flavored. Still very crisp but also a smooth finish. For upcoming info check into their facebook page and stay in the know!

I love this cute quote;)
You can find these great wines at most groceries stores and I highly recommend you try at least one. At a great price point, it’s definitely a Cali come up!
Happy Monday babes!!!

Drinkin’ Kirin while makin’ sushi

In At home cooking, blogger fun, clean food, Dinner dates, friends, Reviews, Sponsored, Uncategorized On April 14, 2014 1 Comment

Hi lovely babes!!! Hope you all enjoyed and tried making those Cheesy Vegan Cauliflower Steaks from the last post!!!

Today, I’ve got a particularly special post for y’all;) As you know, entertaining is totally my happy place, so I was ecstatic when Kirin Ichiban & I paired up to host a little get together while enjoying some Kirin Ichiban & Kirin Light beers, as well as some homemade Japanese recipes!
Check this out!
(I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Millennial Central for Kirin. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.)

First of all, before I share a little background of these awesome beers… …Can I just say one freakin thang!?

Kirin Light offers full flavor and authentic Japanese-style beer with just 95 calories!!!

95 CALORIES! And it’s sooooo TASTY and pairs fantastic with healthier, lighter dishes.
Also for those who aren’t into light beers…also try

Kirin Ichiban which is a 100-percent malt, first-press beer with rich flavor, a smooth finish and clean aftertaste.
• Only uses the first strain of malt liquid, which means it’s truly beer at its purest.
• Pairs beautifully with traditional Japanese cuisine and modern Asian cuisine.

-Kirin Ichiban Frozen which is a draught beer topped with frozen Kirin Ichiban, using a proprietary process.
• It is an innovative way to enjoy Ichiban in Japan, and is now available in select U.S. locations.

Japanese cuisine tends to be quite light, which is great for us skinny BETCHES;) lol no, but seriously. With a clean, light meal, along with a traditional Japanese beer, you can rest easy knowing that you haven’t broke the calorie bank. I mean… Unless you eat everything tempura. No thanks.

When I received my little Kirin care package, I noticed a little booklet with yummy recipes. I was pleased to see that Kirin has partnered with celebrity chef, Candice Kumai, to bring Japanese-style beer to the growing Asian cuisine movement.

Check out Kirin’s facebook for great recipes posted by Candice
The recipes did look amazing…but we were all dying to hit up Mitsuwa (Japanese market) and pick up some really great looking sushi and sashimi fish!
We went a little nuttzzoooo……

I am a sushi fanatic!!!! Oh and making your own is soooo worth it! It’s definitely fun to do with friends. We were cracking up. Lol, and you for SURE can’t serve sushi without ice cold Japanese beer.

Let me give you a little background on Kirin….
Kirin is known in Japan and all over the world as beer at its purest because of its first-press brewing process and clean taste.
• One of Japan’s oldest breweries, with a history dating back to 1888.

• Japanese custom requires never filling your own glass and never letting another’s glass get completely empty.

• In Japan, when everyone is ready to drink, they salute by saying “kanpai.”
I just really love it. I ALWAYS order a Kirin light and a small cold sake (to share of course..)when it go out to my secret special sushi spots around town;)
With only 95 cals a bottle. Ummm.. I’ll take it. Thanks.

We went full out restaurant style! Ahhhhh I’m so proud of my sushi skills y’all! Hot damn! Looks so prefeshhh, right!? Haha

But seriously…you need a super sharp knife. I was strugglin’ a bit.
We even picked up some yuzukosho, which is a Japanese citrus chili paste, and pairs delicious with sushi & sashimi.
At the table was also some, not so healthyspicy siracha mayo... Dassss right!

Check out the spread! That sushi is on point! We also chard some delicious Shishito peppers
Despite the word “pepper”, they are far from spicy. They are just right paired with this food and are super easy to prepare. A party fave no doubt.
You can find these super cheap as well.

Also at the table…some jumbo shrimp sautéed in teriyaki sauce and lots of garlic, as well as traditional salted edamame.

Not gonna lie…this May or may not be my calling.

Everyone was in awe of the yummy spread. We ate till we couldn’t move and polished off the beers. Haha. Oh..and the sake. I was not surprised to see that everyone loved Kirin. I knew they would. I loveeeeeeee it too!;)

Anddddd. Then. I got sassy. ;).
Thank you to Kirin for hooking it up with my sweet care package to host the fab dinner! And thanks to my friends for enjoying and waiting to eat till 9:15 p.m. Lol.
Love y’all!

In At home cooking, clean food, popular recipes, Reviews, Uncategorized, weekly workout schedule On April 10, 2014 0 Comments

Hello lovely friends! Hope the week is going smooth sailin for all of you! Since being back from San Francisco, I’ve been laying low and trying to get back on track to clean eating and hard, intense workouts. I’m finally feeling back to normal and less heavy, lol! For those of you interested…my workouts have really changed lately….

1: MORE CARDIO 30-50 mins 5x a week (med-hard + intervals)

2: NOT AS HEAVY weight training

3: using more BODY WEIGHT and less rest.

5: 1-2 REST days

For me…I really love tricking my body everyday and switching it up. This combo has really helped my body get back on track after my binge. Also been incorporating the NIKE TRAINING APP for more of a TOTAL BODY WORKOUT.
Loving this! I must admit..the hardest part, is getting out of bed at 5:30 am to hit the gym .
REMEMBER: The only workout you will regret…is the one you DIDIN’T do!

Today is a short but sweet and yummy vegan post:) lol. Remember I said recently, that I wanted to start cutting out a lot of animal products ?? Well…I’ve been doing exactly that. I mean, no…I’m not going full on vegan or anything, but I gotta say y’all….. Since cutting out a lot of dairy and and meats, I’ve been feeling reallllllly GREAT! Definitely less bloated and lighter on my feet. I’m still always enjoying my egg whites (cage free of course) and occasional salmon and chicken. I just can’t totally cut it out. I enjoy it wayyyyyy to much.
So, as an homage to all my VEGAN HOMIES…I’ve been playing around with my veggies, and came up with this super yummy “steak” lol. You know what I mean…;)

This recipe is soooo easy! You will notice that there are no measurements. That’s because, all you do, is cut that shit up, then sprinkle all these things on my list and bake that shit. Top with some other stuff.. Blah blah. Sooooo easy and DELICIOUS.
BTW…. did you know that cauliflower is the new kale!?!?
Yup! The new superfood. It’s all the rage. Sure…it may cause a little gas…but I mean, shut up.

quick note: make sure you buy A very large one;)
OHHH and… You will probably only get 3 steaks out of it.. So just roast the rest (the pieces that fall) later. NO WASTING!

Anddddddd….yes. I do leave the kitchen. Sometimes. Only for large doses of vitamin D. Lol. This week has been absolutely beeeeautifulllll in sunny LA. I’m tryin to get brown y’all. Like, for real though. I swear, the sun makes me not such a bitch. ;)

As the season turns, and the sun starts beaming, I go into full blown summer vibe! All I want is fresh, FRESH fruit! Pineapple is the shit right now. I went nuts at whole foods! $ 2.99 EACH! I immediately threw 3 in my basket and ran home only to end up scarfing 1/2 a freakin whole one to myself. Gurrrrrl, byeeeeeee.
I know, I know…..
You know what?
AIN’T nobaaaaaaady Eva get fat off eatin to much fruit! Okaaaaaayyyyyyy.

So, anyway…….this is my typical daily serving… Lol.
So…to sum things up…..
Ok so, I wanted to share my new “Brita” replacement! I am a HUGE advocate of drinking water! I am also guilty at times for not hydrating my body enough, and I always regret it. The sweet folks over at Camelbak sent me over this awesome Relay filter system to give it a try. Hmmmm. I was like…”these things are all the same. Ok. Whatever. Send it. “

Ok…I was NOT compensated for this review. This is my opinion only. But seriously…you need to pay attention. I was in awwwwwww when I started using this.
Most importantly to me….I DO NOT want to sit around and wait for 7 minutes for my water to filter through the damn thing. Ain’t nobody got time fo dat!
GUESS WHAT!? this is 10x FASTER!!!
This has absolutely no waiting time, and the filter lasts 4 full months.
The pleated filter is made of plant-based activated carbon. Yes please & thank u…..
Oh & testing results show 97% removal of chlorine, taste and odor. I’ve tried both the Brita and the Mavea. Both never seemed to quite get that metal and tap water taste out of it. Disappointing.
I could not be more stoked to have this. It’s totally worth $36.99!
It’s spill proof, holds up to 10 cups, BPA FREE & dishwasher safe…andddddd
Camelbak has ya BAK for a lifetime warranty. I mean…….
No will thank me. If you live in LA…BITCH ITS HOT. DRINK WATER!!!!
Get yours at Camelbak, target, bed bath & beyond.
Anyway…sorry for rambling. But I’m sticking to this baby!
Hydrate. Hydrate .HYDRATE!
Eat clean..train mean…

In At home cooking, clean food, new faves, polar, popular recipes, protein, Reviews, Uncategorized, What Paula Ate Wednesday On March 6, 2014 11 Comments

Happy hump day babes!!! So far the week has been quite busy, and I’ve been fortunate enough to squeeze in some really amazing workouts as well. I’ve only had a few days this month where my feet have flared up. Thank you geeeezuzzz! ( if you don’t know, I had to quit Zumba sadly due to gnarly foot pain) I’ve been powering through, and avoiding too much pressure and compression on my lil tootsies. It’s been fun though getting creative in the gym I must say though.

Anyway, last week we had an actual rainy and semi-cold weekend ( for LA, LOL) which inspired this next recipe! Finally, I’m sharing a SAVORY recipe! Whattttttt!?!?!? I know, not my usual…but I think it was time, don’t you!? So with that cozy weather last week….I was in need of a hearty, protein rich soup.

One night, while pinning….I came across a recipe that inspired this baby. Of course….I had to do some adjustments;) I wish I could give a shoutout to the chickie who originally posted this on Pinterest…but paper entry I didn’t pin it. Hmmm weird.

Here it is…in all it’s EFFIN glory! This recipe makes quite a large batch, so I would either: FREEZE IT…OR PORTION IT OUT FOR A WEEK OF MEAL PREP!
It will have 5-6 servings, although I calculated it for 5 servings… I like big portions;)

I am a huge activist of pancakes on the weekends, lol. I mean, not “real” pancakes…lol….I mean, MY pancakes;)

Some may look a little unfamiliar to you, such as…”psyllium husks or “coconut flour but these products should make an appearance in all of your baking pantries!
