What my favorite time of year looks like…

In At home cooking, clean food, fitness, LIVE FIT TRAINER, local shopping, new faves, popular recipes, Reviews, sweets, thursday things, Uncategorized On October 24, 2013 0 Comments

Ahhhh!!! I can finally post!!!! Ugh I have been so frustrated. Well, today…my post is dedicated to my absolute favorite season.

This is what my October looks like….

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Mr. Fitzgerald… One of my fave quotes.
This is the time of year when all I want to do is be cozy, drink wine, and eat warm, hearty foods. You also best believe this betch has got 6 pumpkin pie, pumpkin swirl, cinnamon toast, crisp apple candles all over the damn place. I’m sure no surprise to those who know me. Lol.
I can’t help be really believe this quote. For me….my moods and outlooks change with the weather. Can anyone relate. In other words babes, this is a fresh start;)

Another reason to obsess over fall….FOOTBALL SEASON! Go Broncos!!!!!
Although….I can’t effing believe they lost at the Colts home this past Sunday. Pissed.
Love my old school hat though.

Cozy Willy and cashmere blankets covering my couch. On crisp mornings especially. Swoon.
Been really loving getting up and enjoying my mornings before rushing to the gym. I’m over that. Plus, now that I start work way later in the A.M, I actually feel so much more free, and and find that I really don’t need to wake up at 5 to get shit done. Absolutely lovely. Time is priceless.

The time of year when turkeys start popping up on magazine covers…..A couple of years ago, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 22 people at my parents house, and it was a huge success. It was a lot of hard work, and not gonna lie….expensive.

But….absolutely worth it. It was amazing. I called it my “William Sonoma Thanksgiving“. A lot of the ideas came from either that little William Sonoma mag they give out at the store during this time of year, or from the November issue of Bon Appetit. My favorite foodie magazine. Definitely not the healthiest of recipes, but damn delicious. This year, I’d really like to do something similar. Gotta chat with mom to see if we can round up the troops :) This year, I may see if I can healthify things a bit. You know…subbing cream for say……almond milk…or a nut meal crust with coconut oil instead of a shortbread pumpkin pie crust. Add stock instead of butter…. you know, things like this. What do ya’ll think. I know I should be talking about Halloween since it is the holiday coming up, but…to be honest, not a huggggggggggge fan of that holiday. Not interested. I like the decorating part, but no so much the dressing up and the rest of it. Anyway……

Ya’ll got any thanksgiving healthy substitution tips?

Fresh flowers are a must in my house. these are the latest addition this week.

These are what my October DAYS  look like. Riding around town with my roll dawg.

Ventura County beach days with Willy, chardonnay, and a picnic :)

What my October NIGHTS look like……….

BBQing outdoors, enjoying a fire pit….

Having a great glass of RED, and catching up with friends for dinner in Echo Park.

I cant go on with this post without my new FAVORITE FINDS!!!!!

Ok, so if you follow my instagram….you will see that I’ve been obsessing over Arctic Zero !!!!! Last week, Arctic Zero sent me a box filled with loads of different flavors to try. Droooooool!!!!! Talking about substitutions, this is by far the smartest ICE CREAM SUBSTITUTION!!!!

As you know, I’ve got a bad history with binge eating. This I do admit. On many occasions, I’ve scarfed down whole pints of ice cream, like a train was chasing me. Trying to get it down so fast so that I wouldn’t have to actually think about how guilty I would feel afterward.

Hmmmmm, does this sound familiar to anyone??? Well, If you’ve ever inhaled a whole pint of regular ice cream, then you must know that you’ve just consumed

1200 CALORIES!!!!! (ex: Dreyer’s)

WTFFFFFFF!!!!!!!! I know, sick. Because ice cream is seen as the forbidden fruit, we gorge on it because we think, “ugh, well… I better eat allllllllllllllllll of this now, because I am like, Never gonna do this again!!!!!” 1/2 a cup suddenly goes out the window.

I have found our new BESTIE!!!!! Arctic Zero offers GUILT-FREE frozen desserts for a fraction of the cals!!! They are delicious, I’ve sampled them all;) My personal fave…. STRAWBERRY. All made with no artificial sweeteners, NON GMO, low glycemic & made with whey protein! I’ve been even adding a couple tbsps in my protein shakes! Holy AMAZEBALLZ! The BEST part…..

150 calories a pint

36 calories per serving (1/2 cup)

This is no lie. I know it seems hard to believe, but see for yourself here. The proof is right there!

I am so freakin grateful to have found this product. FINALLY, I get to enjoy an ice cream treat without sacrificing a healthy diet. Now, knowing that I can have it whenever I want, and knowing that its not naughty at all, I don’t have that “forbidden fruit” mentality anymore. Available in 7 yummy ass flavors.

 Wanna know more??????

….Like, when, where, how, $, etc……..

You can’t possibly go on without Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer though October. No sir. For me, sugar free.

Listen, I know its fake shit, and soooo not natural OR organic, but you know what. Leave me alone. It’s one tbsp or less I use a day, so whatever! It is so yummy, and homegurrrrlllll loves her coffee! I swear I looked EVERYWHERE for this! Couldn’t find the Coffee Mate one, so I settled for International Delight.  Its pretty fantastic!!! 20 calories a tbsp for a cup of coffee beats a 100 cal nonfat vanilla latte from Sbucks, right?!

Sometimes, sweet potatoes just aren’t gonna cut it. I’ve been sick of em’. I’ve completely played them out. Pumpkin too. LOl.

I’ve moved on to Kabocha Squash. BYEEEEEEEEE. Have you ever had it? It’s probably the onesquash that you keep passing up when you’re at the store, cuz frankly, it’s pretty ugly. Dark greenish/brown usually. It’s one of the only squashes that I actually eat the skin after I’ve cooked it. It’s full of fiber, so go right ahead. Make sure it’s organic if you’re gonna eat the skin. It’s also one of the sweetest ;) I can’t think of a better FALL & October recipe to share with ya’ll. It’s a healthier alternative and pairs great with all proteins and other sides like veggies!

I made this the other night with a lemon & herb roasted chicken and a spinach & avocado salad with olive oil and champagne vinegar. It was soooo bomb!

That white stuff you see sprinkled over the top, is my absolute favorite cheese! MANCHEGO!

Kabocha Squash Puree

  • 1 whole Kabocha squash
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk. (silk brand=30 cals for 1 cup)
  • 2 tbsp Fat free sour cream (Trader Joe’s brand=15 cals for 2 tbsp)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg
  • salt & pepper
  • optional topping: Grated manchego cheese on top, or use your fave!

  1. Pre-heat oven 400 degrees.
  2. Cut kabocha squash in ½. Sprinkle both insides with garlic powder, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  3. In a baking dish, with ½ an inch of water. Place both halves face down into the dish.
  4. Roast for 40 minutes, or until very soft. top may brown slightly.
  5. Once cooked, let sit out to cool. Then add all the rest of ingredients along with roasted kabocha into a high speed blender, or whatever you have to blend.
  6. Serve puree with a bit of your favorite grated cheese over top;)

I hope you enjoy that simple recipe. It really did turn out awesome. oh & a lil secret…..

I made it for a boy, and he LOVED it;)

shhhhhh. <3

Here’s a shot I took while in Downtown LA. This is why I love Los Angeles. Street art is the tits.

So here’s the deal. I am originally from South America, and although always feeling very connected to my hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the U.S.A is home now, and has been for many years. When I became a citizen, it was an extremely proud moment for me, as is for many immigrants. I can’t even begin to explain to you all how grateful I am to my folks who worked their asses off to get all of us to where we are today.
Ok, not gonna get all sappy, but you get it, yeah. I’m freakin proud;)
So, when I say…I get REALLLLLLLY into the 4th, it’s a bit of an understatement. I swear. I turn allllllll American. Haha.

Beach amigas who are gonna be hittin a bonfire…. Stay warm with this super fem but ultra comfy sweater! I’ll wear the shit outta this al, year round to be honest… Lol.

I could die for that bis ass turquoise necklace. Ahhhhhhh! I want! The sweater is great because it’s ultra light, and a bit sheer. It’s LA, It’s damn hot. Ain’t nobaaaady tryin’ to wear no damn hot ass sweatshirt to the pool! Get real. I could get into this though;)

Love the idea of fresh wine spritzers with blueberries and strawberries. Ultra easy, healthy, and the best part…star shaped pineapple. Although recipe is non-alcoholic….I mean……. Do what you

There’s no such thing as a 4th of July party without n someone busting out some delicious, decadent PIE! This is textbook dessert for this American tradition. Duh!

Adorable idea.. Cheap. Easy. Kid friendly. Love the straws too! Add some mason jars, and voila!

Fun, creative ideas!
Add a bit of food coloring to your white chocolate, or buy colored chocolate and start dippin those Oreos!!! Here’s the recipe!

Yippee! Get some star shaped cut outs here! and serve these great snacks!

Unless completely wasted….don’t run around with an American flag. Remember…it’s not allowed to touch the floor…..

Wishing you all a safe and FUN holiday! Hope this helped get your 4th of July style on point!

Wednesday eats..Thursday treats.

In Breakfast, clean food, Fact of the day, fashion, polar, Reviews, thursday things, Uncategorized, What Paula Ate Wednesday, willy, zumba On May 10, 2013 0 Comments

Happy Thursday fit friends!! Not much to report today, but I honestly feel crazy if I don’t catch y’all up! My FF2F 50 days clean eats/no cheats is going really well! Well into it now, and I feel fantastic… Ok, I must tell you though…I have had some wine, oh and maybe a margarita….buuuuuuuut I’ve so so balanced lately, don’t I don’t consider that a cheat. Whatever, judgers. ;)

Anyway…my typical breakfast…. Egg whites are ALWAYS up in there. This was yesterday….

Egg white scramble with sautéed kale, red peppers, no salt organic turkey slices, green onion, and a bit of Homeboy Salsa. I always buy homeboy products because I LOVE what the company stands for, and of course, super duper tasty. This non-profit organization, Homeboy Industries, provides rehabilitation services and job training to ex-gang members and announced the launch of its first consumer products, salsa and tortilla strips, for sale through mass-distribution at over 256 Ralphs locations across Southern California. Pretty incredible. Please take a moment to watch this video to understand truly who incredible they are!

Bottom line: HUGE FAN.

My morning read. Women’s Health Magazine. Pretty much, the best FIT read out in my opinion. I especially HAD to have it when I read the front cover…”BEST ABS EVER!” as I stood in line at Target the other day. WTF, are you kiddind, YES PUUUULEAAAZZZEEEEEE!!!!!!Hardest part of my body to define, by far. ugh.

I taught Zumba yesterday morning at 10:30, so I made sure to eat that bomb ass breakfast early enough that it wouldn’t come back up as I danced my ass off.

REMINDER: If you do Zumba, PLEASE allow at least 1 hr of full digestion before coming to class……lol

What I generally do, is bring a protein packed snack for after class. Not gonna lie, I could eat a COW after class. You would feel the same if you took my HIGH-OCTANE class. 700 calories in 1 hour. Yeah….I thought so….

Low salt low fat Cottage cheese by Lucerne

Organic RAW hemp seeds

fresh fruit

PB2 (best product changer)

Sweaty Netty after class. Selfie in the car. I always get so embarrased taking car selfies. LOL. I wait till all cars have passed by me, and then I go to town!! Almost crashing or running red lights. See what bloggers do to get this out to you!? Geeezzzzz. ;)

My morning class killed it!!! So proud of the girls.

I love seeing the dedication from these women, some of them take zumba everyday! Pretty incredible, I gotta say!

I found my new motto…

The rest of Wednesday was mellow, did a couple private clients (haircuts, that is) and came home to make this gorgeous multi colored salad. Simple, but full of protein. I try to take in around 25 grams of protein each meal.

2 hard boiled eggs (mostly whites)

2 slices no salt turkey slices

Cherry tomatoes

Sesame seeds

Olive oil/lemon/apple cider vinegar

Salt & pepper. seriously.

FINALLY made it to the dog park on Mulholland. Been wanting to take Willy there, but never could find the damn place. Anyway, as expected, Willy was not interested in playing with any dogs and was stuck to me like white on rice. No joke.
Mr. anti social over here.
He ran around a bit, but it was pretty forced. Lol. He got in the car and was panting and closing his eyes like he had just had this “amazing workout”…. But I mean, really. Homeboy barely ran a lap. Haha.;)

Tonight’s ZUMBA class was on fire!!! They killed it! The verdict on the polar heart rate monitor: A whopping 664 calories! Sweat like a beast, and worth every second of it!
After class, to participate in my friend’s 30 day squat challenge, we did 250 squats. NO LIE! I’m dying…. Although never tired enough to not pose for some dance studio SELFIES! Lol.

I mean…so much awkward posing happening here. I can’t help but share;)

Practicing our sickest TLC pose…. RIP Lisa “left eye”
Whoop whoop.

Your next recommended purchase….

These amazing sandals by: REPORT

Wore them all damn day today at the salon, and no complaints. Got loads of compliments on them and they are SUPER cute! They match everything too for the summer! Yipeeeeee.

had no clue……

And now……. Go ahead.

Foooooodie PENPALS;)

In clean food, FOODIE penpals, local shopping, thursday things, Uncategorized On February 28, 2013 1 Comment

Hey friends! It’s an exciting day for us bloggers! Yes, it’s that time of the month;) it’s February Foodie Penpals reveal day! This idea was brought on my a fellow friend, and blogger, the Lean Green Bean.

This is such a fantastic way for bloggers and blog readers to keep in touch, and stay connected through our viral lifestyles:) I was stoked when I saw the UPS guy coming through the doors at work…my PENPAL package had arrived:) this month, my penpal was Denise Evans of Eat*laugh*love. I love her tag line…

“A collection of healthy eating recipes, dedicated to eating with joy, seasoning with laughter, and cooking with love.”
She uses all organic and non processed ingredients in all her cooking, and considers her passion for food like yoga in the kitchen. She’s a machine! Posting amazing healthy recipes almost daily, while keeping a full time tech job. Power to ya girl! Check out her blog for some delicious homemade ideas for yourself or your family!

She really got my box SPOT ON! I made sure to take pics of all the yummy goodies she sent, before scarfing them all down;)

#1: DUKKAH seasoning by Trader Joe’s.
I haven’t used it yet, but excited to try it.
Dukkah is a savory nut and spice blend of Middle Eastern origin. You can use as a rub or crust for chicken and fish, as a seasoning for vegetables.

#2: FLACKERS! my absolute favorite low carb cracker option. Love having these at the house. Super guilt free. Created by a doctor, these bad boys are gluten free, low carb and low glycemic. They offer loads of fiber and are really high in omegas. They are made up of flax seeds and spices. Nothing hidden or ingredients you can’t pronounce. You can find these online or at your local health food store. I’m completely obsessed with them!

#3: 10 MIN. FARRO by Trader Joe’s. I’ve never cooked farro before, so I’m curious to try it out in the recipe she sent along with the package pictured below. It’s considered a whole grain, a good source of fiber, aids in lowering cholesterol. AND, high in vitamins in minerals.
Also considered a “Smart Carb”
Farro’s complex carbs break down slowly, keeping your energy level stable. The grain also has cyanogenic glucosides, a type of carb that may boost the immune system.

#4: YOGI GINGER TEA. If there is anything I need, it’s help in the digestion department! Holy, digestive issues. It’s caffeine free, so this has been lovely to drink up at night. It helps to sooth the tummy after a meal. Also, the taste of ginger isn’t so overwhelming, which I appreciate.

#5: MARCONA ALMONDS roasted and salted with rosemary..OOOOOMMMMGGGGG. I mean, never have I EVER had something so amazing and flavorful. WOW! I highly recommend these. They are naturally a bit oily, but enjoy it as a treat.

Here is the recipe she sent with the box:) such a sweetheart. Thanks so much Denise! Can’t wait to try this! You guys should try this recipe out, and let me know how it comes out!! Also, if you are interested in joining FOODIE Penpals, Here’s some more INFO.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone! Kissssessssss xoxoxoxoxox

Protein CHIA Pudding, Morning PUMPKIN Bars, and new skinny finds!

In Breakfast, clean food, popular recipes, Raw food, Reviews, skinny grocery list, thursday things, Uncategorized On February 20, 2013 0 Comments

Hey guys! Hope the week is going great, and y’all are stayin active! I’ve got some super yummy recipes, and grocery items that you should pick up ASAP! Ok, let’s get to it….I’ve been feeling extra hungry lately since I upped my cardio, so I’ve made it a point to keep homemade snackies around the house, to make sure I don’t binge on the wrong things.

One of my favorite pantry items, which I’ve shared before, are CHIA SEEDS. One of the greatest super fueling foods. A lot of people are confused by what to do with these little guys, and I’m here to tell ya! They are amazing. Because most people don’t know what to do with them, they end up just sprinkling them over a salad, or to top off their smoothie. That is all good, but get a bit more creative peeps!

Alright, do you like pudding? I do. A lot. Are you in need of protein, fiber, and omegas? Here are the reasons why you need to add this into your diet. Top 10 CHIA benefits.

Here’s my Protein Packed Vanilla Chia Pudding

1 scoop vanilla protein ( I use about time whey)

4 tbsps chia seeds

2 tbsp 0% Greek yogurt

3/4 – 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk ( I use silk brand, 30 cals)

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

4 drops stevia

optional toppings:

Hemp seeds
Flax seeds
Goji berries
Raw almond butter
Cacao nibs

Super easy! Chia sees, when immersed in liquid, become’s genius. So, all you do is:

Grab a bowl, add your protein powder, add chia seeds, add yogurt, swirl together…then add “milk” you could also use water. Whatever.( if you choose water, you may have to compensate with more vanilla extract) then add stevia, and vanilla. Mix very well. It gets thicker with time. Keep mixing, and place in the fridge for 20-30 min. To with whatever you’re into. Something healthy of course;) congratulations, you’ve just created a superfood SUPERBOWL!

Here’s another idea for PUMPKIN CHIA SEED PUDDING

Don’t feel like pudding?….You can bake with chia seeds too, you know. How bout some PROTEIN CHIA CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES.

Alright, I know it’s not fall, or thanksgiving time, but I freakin LOVE pumpkin! Pumpkin anything really…especially in the morning. Add it to your oats, make bars like these, so many possibilities! Plus, if I’m gonna eat starch or carbs, I’d prefer to enjoy them in the morning:) I’ve come up with these super nutritious bars that have loads of fiber ( from the psyllium, oats, and flax), AND, protein from almond flour, and eggs. Low in calories but high in value.

Remember you guys, if I have time to make my own food, so do you. Your health is important, and most of the bars you see being sold at supermarkets, are really NOT as healthy as advertised. Get into the habit of making your own, and storing them. You will save money, and you will know exactly what went into them.

1/2 cup pumpkin purée ( preferably organic)

2 tbsp psyllium husks

1/2 tsp baking powder

2 tbsp almond flour

2 tbsp flax meal

2 tbsp old fashioned oats

2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk

1 egg

1/4 tsp Pumpkin pie spice

1/2 tps Vanilla extract

10 drops stevia

Top with cacao nibs or carob chips

Super easy. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
In a bowl, mix all dry ingredients, then add all wet ingredients and mix very well. I just use a fork to make sure I mash everything realllllly well.
Grease a loaf pan. ( you can use coconut oil or ghee)
Spread batter flat in pan, and top with cacao nibs.
Bake in oven for 20 mins.
Let sit and set. Cut into rectangular bars, and store:)
These are fabulous to take to work as a snack or for breakfast.

Ok, so I’ve got to share with you all my new foundings! So excited! The first product that I’m sooo stoked to try is this:

I’ve always seen this walking through the isles of Whole Foods and Raw food World, but never had the guts to try it. To be honest, it just looked completely unappetizing. It’s raw and looks like a sea creature, but don’t let this gross looking little package fool you…it is considered the only plant food vital for treating thyroid conditions, it can also help with issues in the bladder, intestines, stomach, glands, and skin. Also, little did I know, it is a great natural thickener.

It also looks intimidating because in its raw form, it’s covered in sand. Lol. After all, it is sea kelp.
You just gotta get the hang of it. It’s pretty easy and simple.
You grab a handful, and RINSE, RINSE, AND REPEAT.
then, once cleaned thoroughly, you put it in a bowl with double the amount of water. So that the moss is fully immersed. Soak outside the fridge for up to 16-18hours, switching out the water every 6-8 hrs, looking for debris or sand. Once soaked, it should become softened, gelatinous and pretty much doubled in size.
Put your moss in the blender with 1 cup clean water
Blend on high until smooth and creamy. In your Vitamix, this might take several minutes and it will heat the gel up slightly. That is ok. Chunks of moss will fly up into your carafe. Push them down and proceed until your moss paste is completely smooth.

Store the paste in fridge in a glass jar for up to 10 days.

Get into peeps!

Let’s talk about “YAM” noodles. Yeah, I know, WTF.
That’s right, homegirl’s raided the Chinese market “99 Ranch” this weekend, and…safe to say, I came up! I got all sorts of goodies, and at really great prices too. A lot of stuff I couldn’t read, but whatever, I could kinda understand the nutrition facts in most things, and some had info in English, so, no prob there.
So, you know that I’m a huge fan of “Miracle Noodles” Well, these are pretty much the same thing, but these in particular, are shaped, in what seem to look like, little pasta knots. Great for soups.

The best part being this………
Check out the nutrition facts!
0 CARBOHYDRATES ( minus dietary fiber from carbs to calculate NET carbs)

Oooooommmmmgggggggg. Haven’t used these yet, but I will mos def be making some sort of Asian style soup.

Seaweed and soy wraps galore!!! If I would have bought these at whole foods, they would have been double the price! Seaweed is my dream. Sighhhhhh
Why make a sandwich with bread, when you have these;)

Korean bbq style thin cut beef. Sooooo bomb! You know what I’m gonna do….. I’m gonna grab a seaweed wrapper, stuff it with thin strips of beef, make some cauliflower rice, and add some julienned veggies for my ownversion of a sushi roll;) hell yes! I will be posting that very soon, and I promise you will wanna make it too!

I cooked these up suuuuuppppperrrrrr quick. They are so thin, that they cook in like 2 seconds. I just added salt, pepper, and garlic powder and viola!

Ok, ok, I know, it doesn’t look that good, but trust me, delicious, lean, full of protein, and easy to cook.

Hard boiled some eggies for the week. I swear I could snack on these bad boys allllll day long!

I stocked up on my favorite supplement:
I take 500 mg a day. (1 pill)
I also try to drink 2 cups or iced greed tea a day.

After a long day at work, I feel exhausted, and green tea keeps me mentally and physically focused. Natural energy is my friend;) an added boost of caffeine without the jitters. I put in work last night at the gym! 30 minute elliptical intervals+ 45 minute upper body strength training. Lets reps with heavier weight.
I wore my CEP compression socks during and after my workout. The bottom half of my legs were pretty sore and tight, so they definitely helped get me through. I always make sure to have these around, I don’t care how crazy I look;) they prevent injury, I like that!

Andddddd…..I am so that creep taking pics of herself in the gym locker room… I must say, I’m getting more and more used to it;) lol.

Stocked up in my favorite bars! QUEST BARS!
Low carb, gluten free, and a great source of protein! By far the best ones I’ve found. I love these flavors;) they are typical around $2.50 a piece, but can order them by the case for a better price here

Wile at whole foods today, I had an epiphany. A you know, I try to stay away from carbs, but, I’ve decided to Incorporate more natural sprouted oats and rye oats into my diet. I just felt like it. I think my training will benefit. So I stocked up, also picked up some more stevia drops, and brussel sprouts. Yummmmmm

I hate tea other than green tea, but I found a gem!
My nighttime craving now. Tastes like hot cider. Just add a dash of stevia n cinnamon and WOW.

Seems like forever since I’ve posted, I’ve missed you! Finally getting my mattress delivered tomorrow, till then….Zumba tonight, and a great nights sleep tomorrow;) xoxo

DAY 2: Foods+Fashion+Exercise

In clean food, cleanse, fashion, get the look, popular recipes, protein shakes, thursday things, Uncategorized On January 24, 2013 5 Comments

Hey all!
It’s day 2 of the Body Flush, and I’m feeling like a champ! The difference has been outrages. My digestive system is very happy with me:) it’s a rainy day today in LA., so we’ll see if I am able to go running tonight. I am definitely not missing ZUMBA though. I’m off from work a bit early today! Yipppeeeeeeee

Today’s morning start:

2 cleanse pills on an empty stomach.
1 shot espresso with frothed almond milk.
1 scoop fiber blend with 8 oz water
8 oz green protein smoothie:

Bee pollen
Flax milk
1 scoop protein
1/2 tsp vanilla bean
1 tbsp hemp seeds

Life changed when I found hemp seeds!

Here are some helpful facts that you may not have known about hemp seeds.
I love sharing nutritional info! Lol

* All 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce.
* A high protein percentage of the simple proteins that strengthen immunity and fend off toxins.

* Eating hemp seeds in any form could aid, if not heal, people suffering from immune deficiency diseases. This conclusion is supported by the fact that hemp seed has been used to treat nutritional deficiencies brought on by tuberculosis, a severe nutrition blocking disease that causes the body to waste away.

A I read my daily dose of morning bloglovin, I came across this little hot cake from purelytwins. I immediately grabbed a ramekin and whipped one up in 3 minutes.
When you cleanse, you crave stuff like this. This was PERFECT this morning. I can totally have these in the a.m. during my cleanse.

1 Tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp coconut flour

2 tbsp carob powder or unsweetened cacao powder

1/4 tsp baking powder

2 1/2 tbsp water

15 drops stevia

1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste/extract

Mix all dry ingredients in ramekin, add water, stevia, and vanilla bean. Mix very well, It’ll be quite thick. You could also dab a bit of coconut oil on top. Microwave for 60 seconds, and you’ve got your very own HEALTHY morning dose of cake without additives, sugar, or high carbs.

Before leaving for work , I roasted some brussel sprouts with a bit of coconut oil, cayenne pepper, and sea salt. I may or may not have completely over cooked these bad boys, but whatever. I little crunch won’t hurt nobooooooody!

Snack 1:

A handful of cherries:)
Agua Fresca:

Juice of 1 lemon
Juice of 1 small orange
Shaved ginger

Today’s LUNCH:

Roasted Brussel sprouts

Baby kale with chia seed oil and liquid aminos.

Kabocha sqaush

Radish kimchi

1/2 avocado

Adding the squash in there helped to plump up the lunch, otherwise this wouldn’t of filled me up at all. I would’ve been hungry in 2 seconds. Pretty much the ultimate snacky plate:) the flavore all went really well together. I made enough brussel sprouts to take some to work mañana as well. I am leftover queen.

Snack 2:

RAW trail mix.

Flax seeds

Cacao nibs

Sunflower seeds.

Best snack ever! I usually munch on a string cheese or an apple, remember….NO dairy, NO sugar for 7 days, so this really was a treat. I love cacao nibs. Super high in antioxidants and dietary fiber. They kinda remind me of espresso beans. Simiiiiiilllarrrrrrrr.

I’ve got ZUMBA at 8 tonight, so I made a quick, easy, and delicious dinner an hour and 1/2 before.
I was craving some protein!

Salmon is on the plate tonight ladies.

Super easy!
First…. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

Make boats out of aluminum

Place a handful of spinach leaves at the bottom

Place the salmon on top.

Rub with crushed garlic

Sprinkle with salt and pepper

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

3 thin lemon slices on top

Close the boats, leaving room for salmon to steam inside, but make sure the seams are shut.
Cook for 20 minutes and 350*

I love , absolutely love cilantro, so this part is optional. Chopped cilantro makes everything better to me. Oh, and a bit of siracha is always lovely too;)
I ended up only eating 1/2 of this, which was a actually one serving. About 5 oz. ( the size of your palm). Along with a a handful of homemade curry, turmeric pumpkin seeds. That last thing I wanted was to feel full during class. Not a good idea. Ever. My stomach is in high digestion mode. Everything is going right through me. Really, It’s a blessing and a curse, if ya know what I mean.

Tonight’s class was booked. A solid hour of “shakin what yo mama gave ya!”
Sooo fun tonight, we learned a new dance! Woo-hooooo. My happiness continued when I realized I had burned 580 calories. I love seeing new faces in the crowd. Makin it happen ladies.

Oh bye…. Sandy Campy Fitness is offering new students a “CAN’T PASS UP” deal!
For new clients, she is offering 10 zumba classes for $55 dollars, and $75 for 10 buddy sculpting.
Even if you are already a Zumba student, you are still eligible for the new client rate to body sculpting, and vice versa.

580 calories thinner, me and my homie J fit decided to take a 3 mile run. We were dripping sweat I class, so we tried to bundle up as much as we could.

Feeling accomplished and whole. My insides feel fantastic!

Welp, yep, it rained on us the whole run home. Just lovely. Thank god I was warmed up.
We ran for Charity Miles ( Stand up to Cancer). Just under 3 miles. I started getting a cramp so when it was over, I wanted to pass the efffff out.

Andddddd for my favorite part of the week….

Thursday’s Train and things:

In circuit, Never perfect, thursday things, Uncategorized, zumba On January 17, 2013 3 Comments

Good day all!
I’m glad you liked the latest post on the About Time Protein. I just ordered 36 packets of different favors! STOKED. I ordered some strawberry flavored whey, so I will definitely be trying out recipes and sharing later on.

I wanted to share last nights dinner with you guys, cuz it was super healthy, gorgeous, and easy, and if you’re on a budget, a great idea. My friend Jules has also jumped on the low carb/low glycemic bandwagon with me, and is looking great! She made us a roasted turkey that she just threw in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. You can find whole turkeys at the grocery stores right now for a really great price.
She roasted some cauliflower, sautéed some onions, threw it all into the blender with a little fat free half & half, and viola!
Also, just tossed arugula in some blood orange olive oil and vinegar. Super easy, and delicious.

We ate right out of the roasting pan! Lol
It was soooo tender! 350 degrees for just under 2 hrs. Then you can keep the rest of it in the fridge to pack for lunches.

I’ve been getting some comments from friends to post more of my workouts, so here’s one that I love doing on the days where I don’t have much time to hit the gym. This is a great one to do right before you jump in the shower. It’s quick. Only 10 minutes.
I’m leaving for San Fransisco tomorrow with my best friends, so I’m trying to get in as much exercise as I can this week. Cuz, believe me, when us girls get together, we love to cook, EAT, and drink!

These mother effers are what I can’t have in my house…so I threw them in my lunch bag today to give to my coworkers. I just really can’t have this in my house. It’s torture.

I started taking the stairs instead of the elevator leaving the parking garage. You never know, maybe it’ll burn at least one of the chocolate square I ate last night :/

Small achievement but something is better than nothing. I found this on pinterest, and though it was was totally appropriate for todays goal. Everyday, strive for the best. If you fall, get right back up.

Today’s eats were really clean for the most part. This is the mantra that I’ve been trying stick to. Although sometimes hard, I know I feel the best when I stick to this type of diet.

Egg white frittata with cauliflower and kale, topped with skim mozzarella.

A handful of walnuts

Espresso with almond milk.

Raw trailmix

Roasted vegetables

Green salad mix

Roasted turkey breast topped with radish kimchi.

Water with lemon

Arugula with sesame seeds

Leftover roasted veggies

Brads Raw food kale chips

Mom’s homemade gluten free banana bread with a handful of blueberries

All in all, pretty good, except for…Now looking at it, I think I’m having too many nuts in my everyday diet. hmmmmm. Gotta change that a bit. They are just so yummy and snacky,  but easy to over do it.

It was a gorgeous day in LA today. 75 degrees. perfect. Any excuse to bust out my fave pair of grey suede shorts.

TOP: Free People on sale. $40.00

SHORTS: BCBG grey suede shorts with pockets. $49.99 on sale at the BCBG outlet.

SHOES: Lucky brand. Found at Ross for $30.00

8:00 p.m rolled around quick. I got home from work a little achy, so I laid in my living room and did some quick stretches before heading to ZUMBA. I ate my din before class cuz I knew by the time I got home, it would be quite late.

Did I mention to ya’ll that I’m gonna be leaving for San Francisco tomorrow? I’m glad I got one last workout in before the girls trip. I packed my suitcase in a super crazy rush (hopefully I got everything I needed) and took off to Zumba.

All cozy, beanie and all.

Sweaty lady. I was totally and utterly DRENCHED!

Of course I went  ALLLLL out and managed to burn 600 calories. There were lots of new faces in class, and they did GREAT!

I love seeing them get it. It’s sometimes not easy, but everyone BROUGHT IT HOME TODAY!

I LOVE THIS: I found this really great log that you could literally use everyday. It’s really fantastic. And, since receiving comments about posting more workouts and stuff, I thought this would be perfect to keep track of the daily progress, goals, and just seeing where my heads at, you know?

Ok I will tell you the truth… the whole “no Chocolate ” thing… yeah… already broke that. woops.

Tomorrow is a busy day, so I most likely wont be posting, but trust me.. I’m about to go apeshit on the pic sitch in San Fran. Also while there, I love to wake up the earliest. Before the sun fully comes out, I go out and run the city before it wakes…Speaking of this trip…

Number 1: I gotta remember to get my boarding pass early online.

Number 2: Renew my passport, apparenly,it expires in march! eeeeek

I cant wait For FRIENDS Time! lol

I dropped willy off at my parents house… Stress Free;)

See you guys soon. xo

Studio FAIL.. And a new Cleanse Idea!

In polar, Raw food, Reviews, thursday things, Uncategorized, Viamix, zumba On January 4, 2013 0 Comments

Today, I woke up feeling refreshed. Maybe cuz I allowed a bit of extra sleep-in time. First things first… Coffee. Espresso with almond milk to be exact. The fave in the house. You guys seriously, get a Nespresso Pixie with the froth. I’m not kidding, one of my Prized possessions. I finished off the last two cookies from the batch;)

Then made my 3rd green smoothie of the week since I purchased the Vitamix. It’s FANTASTIC. I can’t wait to make some soups in there, since its been cold, cozy weather lately over here in LA. Yes, the freakin thing actually heats up to make soup, because the blade is soooo strong, and creates a friction. Pretty crazy.

Loving my new paper straws from Paper Source. Aren’t they the cutest!
best Green Protein smoothie/shake

The workday today was super busy, so I really didn’t have time to take pics of lunch and snacks. For some reason I’ve been super hungry the last couple days. All I want to do is snack all day. Ugh. Do you guys ever have days like that? So annoying. At least, FINALLY, the chocolates are gone from the staff room! They were the devil. No more holiday sweets Puuuuuleeease, I’m soooo over that shit.

My lunch was a BIG ass salad, with everything you could think of in it.
- broccoli
- chicken
- egg whites
- romaine
- Swiss chard
- goat cheese
- pumpkin seeds
- sprouts
- zuchinni

Really, no lie, HUGE.

My snacks today were:
- roasted seaweed snacks from trader’s
- a guava
- kale chips
- a handful of raw walnuts

Such a snacks lady today… Ugh just get me to Zumba already.
Class wasn’t till 8:30 p.m. So I got to relax at home with Willy for a couple hours before class. Since I knew 9:30- 10 p.m is wayyyy to late to eat, I reheated my latest creation for dinner:)
I call them my ” Pink Magic Mushrooms” ;)

They are soooo freakin good, and sooo hearty. The texture of the portobello makes you think your having a big ol’ slab of meat, when really, you’re having something super lean. That’s why I luvvv em’. These, I stuffed with rainbow chard,( my fave, and hence, the pink color) garlic, skim cheeses, onion, Greek yogurt, and some other super goodness!
I’ll mos def be sharing this recipe soon, with lots of way better pics;)
They kinda look crazy.
Perfect appetizer for, oh I dunno….maybe Valentines day…. Into it.

Ok, so today…I finally received the package I have been so anxiously awaiting….my new at-home, food photography studio;)
Most of you know that I’ve been really trying to improve my ” no f*%#ing lighting in my house situation” so I was super excited to get home and rip through this box. Yeayyyyyyyy! Finally:)
This this is the whole kit.
The CowboyStudio photo soft box light tent.

Ok, looks good….
4 chroma key backdrops, ok, right….

The lighting kit…yup…

Ohhhhh, n then….this happens.
Yeah, I know, didn’t look that damn big all coiled up. Gooood lord.
It’s HUGE!
Let me remind you, this is suppose to be to photograph food, not to be able to photograph a freakin party scene in there. I swear you could fit 3 effing people in there.
Ughhhhhhhh. This is when I hate surprises…
There is no freaking way I can keep this. I mean, look at it, it takes up the whole living room.
All I could do was laugh. I looked at the receipt from amazon..
And of course, I said, right on there. 40 inches.
Dumb ass didn’t see that. Whoops. So, I looked up the return policy, and turns out, since it was not their error, I’ve got to eat the shipping cost. Womp wooooooomp.
Whatever, get this thing out!
It took my 20 minutes to figure out how to coil it back up to the tiny little bag it came in.
I gotta go online mañana and order the right size.
Annoying central.

Now, I was really ready to sweat out some frustration. 8:00 rolled around, so I took off to Zumba. A couple of girlfriends met me there from work to take the class as well, so tonight was extra fun! We went alllll out! This class is phenomenal…
I, of course wore my Polar watch and transmitter to measure my heart rate, calories burned, and to track my fitness goal for the week.
689 calories burned!
WHAAAAAAAAAAT! that’s what I needed.

I’ve never sweat so much.

It was Haley’s first time taking the class, and she freakin rocked the house. She picked up all the choreography, like it was her J-O-B!. That’s right gurrrrrrl. So much fun. This is what it’s about, finding something you love, and stickin to it;)

Apart from Zumba, as you know, I just built my at home cutie little gym, so I’m always on the lookout to share some at home workouts ANYONE can get down with. Especially when you don’t have a lot of time.
Here’s a great one to try out. It’s pretty killer.

Along with that… A wheeee bit of motivation to get off you ass;)

A SORE… & unexpected day off

In Dinner dates, thursday things On December 7, 2012 0 Comments

Hey babes!

Sooo, WTF… OK, so you know that I took that BRIKAM class last night right? Well, have you ever in your life taken a class at 10 p.m for an hour and 1/2?? yeah, well, try sleeping after that. You would think that it would be easy peazy right? WRONG!!!! The absolute worse! I couldn’t fall asleep till 3 f*@k*ng A.M. My adrenaline was too strong to be able to pass out. Not to mention, the pain that started to develope in my neck and lower back!

You guessed it. With the combo of all those “I’m not feeling good in this posishhh” back bends, not being able to sleep and finally passing out on the couch, I woke up with a total body HANGOVER! I woke up at my normal time, 5:15, and could barely move.

Wow, this is really gonna be a good day. I decided by 8:00 a.m that it was not worth the pain being on my feet all day at work. So, I stayed home. I took 3 IB profins and passed out. woke up and began icing on and off every 20 mins.

My Mom has worked in physical therapy for many years now, and we’ve come to learn that this icing technique, along with rest, stretching,anti-inflammatories, and massage is the best way to heal. It’s the truth, and you’ll thank me later:)

Anyway, after laying on the couch for what seemed to be a lifetime (I played around with my new ipad;) I decided to get up and try to get a few things done. I leave for BIG BEAR with Mom and a few of our family girlfriends this weekend, so I thought i would just start getting ready for that.

well….that didn’t end up happening, instead, my friend Jules texted and said “if your around later, I’m roasting a whole chicken, I’m craving lots of protein”

I was there within the 1/2 hour;)

I was feeling a bit better at this point, so when I got there, we made some espressos and got to girlchattin.

Oooo-mmm-ggggg… just take a look at this amazing flower! she got them at Trader’s! Can you believe?

So cheap, but gorgeous!

She ended up sending me home with one of them (lucky girrrl)

Don’t know if I’ve told you guys, but she is an amazing baker. Her old boss still orders tons of cakes from her. Check out these perfect Vanilla Bean Rum Cakes. wooooooooozaaaaaa

She recently had a girl come to her door selling  a monthly service of organic produce delivery. Genius, right? Twice a month they drop off a box of whatever is in season. I think I might do it too. The only problem is, and we started becoming hesitant, is that we live along, and it ends up being a bit much for just one person. I hate wasting and I have a feeling some stuff would go bad within a few days. SUCKS. But like I said, “lucky Girl that I am” Jule’s sent me home with some gorgeous fruits and veggies, because, seeeeeeeeee, she knew it wouldn’t all last.

Everytime I go over there, I become fascinated with her stunning china. ughhh i want!

There’s that hunk-o-burnin-love in all its glory.

Simple, organic.

Served with a little leftover roasted squash.

And, you know I’m loving the white tree action lately, so, here she is:)

So jealous

What’s your fave way to roast a chicken?
