Hi guys! Hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far:) A few days ago, I woke up super early (4 faaaakin 30 AM earlyyyy)  with the sudden urge to bake. So, I started researching recipes that I could make into something guilt free. I’m finally feeling like my body is slowly but surely normalizing after the carb-o-load that was, Italy…and the 3 weeks after that, that I just DIDN’T GIVE A FAAAAAK. Lol.  Although feeling back to normal, I’m still craving pastries, croissants, and all things sweeeeeeet. Yes, you absolutely can get addicted to sugar and carbs. The gelato I had 2x a day didn’t help the addiction. Nope.

Anyway ya’ll, I came up with these BOMB ass muffins that make you feel like you’re having a cheat, when in fact…it’s a GUILT FREE TREAT! Take a look at the ingredients up top…If you are like me, and like to whip up healthy treats…most of those things you should always keep around because they are a great base for healthy baking. Lets see the macros on these babies…

**Note: I MADE MINE INTO 12 MINI MUFFINS (50 CALS FOR 1, 100 CALS FOR 2) but, you can make a batch of 6 regular sized muffins. Topping is added in the macros**

(1 regular sized muffin. Mini= 50 calls each)

FAT: 1.4 G

I am completely obsessed! Here are you instructions:

1. Pre-heat oven to 350*

2. Combine oats and almond milk and microwave for 1 minute.

3. Add in wet ingredients… applesauce, grated apple, egg whites (or 1 whole egg) and mix in.

4. In a separate bowl, mix coconut flour, protein powder (I used Met RX protein plus Vanilla), your choice of sugar sub, salt, baking powder, and cinnamon .

5. Combine wet and dry ingredients.

6. Grease or spray your muffin tins and fill evenly with mixture. (Not too full) Should make 6 regular sized muffins.

7. Bake at 350* for 20-25 mins.

Now…. For the TOPPING!

This is totally optional, but it is counted in the macros above. If you remove this step, it’ll save you about 20 calories. I used fat free sour cream with stevia and vanilla, BUT…you can do whatever your lil heart desires. I did it this way because it keeps it SUPER LOW in CALS, but you could also do a fat free cream cheese topping or even 0% greek yogurt.

I keep them in my fridge and have 2 mini muffins before heading to the gym in the mornings! They provide my body with the perfect balance of nutrients to fuel my body, and give me great energy to go a little harder! PLEASE try this recipe and let me know your thoughts!!! I’m open to tweaking it if need be! Sharing is caring, So, make sure to PIN IT (below) so you can always refer back!

Happppppyyy MONDAY!! This weekend has been awesome! As promised, let’s start with this ridiculous stack of CHOCOLATE PROTEIN PANCAKES! they are not only super moist, (ew..I hate that word) they are the perfect texture and taste DELICIOUS!
I am a huge activist of pancakes on the weekends, lol. I mean, not “real” pancakes…lol….I mean, MY pancakes;)
I promise…you can eat them WITHOUT all the bad carbs, fat, and sugar. It’s allllll about the substitutions. This recipe calls for very few ingredients. Some may look a little unfamiliar to you, such as…”psyllium husks or “coconut flour but these products should make an appearance in all of your baking pantries! These are essentials to keeping a healthy “LOW GLYCEMIC” and “LOW CARB” kitchen. Don’t get allll obsessed with the words, low carb, I just mean “BETTER CARBS” ;)

Chocolate Protein Pancakes
Prep time:
Cook time:
Total time:
Serves: 2
  • 1½-2 scoops chocolate whey protein ( I used Cellucor Molten Chocolate)
  • 2 tbsp Psyllium Husks
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Flour
  • ½ cup steamed mushy cauliflower ;)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup egg whites. ( I used carton egg whites)
  1. Use a NON STICK PAN. I LOVVVE Scanpan! on MED. heat.
  2. To grease pan, I used Natural coconut oil spray. (Found at Trader Joe’s)
  3. ***Just a little spritz per pancake***
  4. First mix all dry ingredients and slowly add in all wet, including steamed soft cauliflower. Beat or mix very well.
  5. Spoon in your batter as to not make too big of pancakes.
Nutrition Information

You saw that right y’all!
(NOTE: toppings extra cals and optional)

***0% Greek yogurt with a few drops of stevia***

Happy hump day beauties!!!! Today’s post is short but sweet:) I’ve got a really SUPER DUPER EASY recipe for a pre-workout 90 calorie snack idea! for me, because I tend to workout so early in the morning, I consider this 1/2 of my breakfast. I brake up my breakfast into pre-workout & post-workout.

For example what I did this morning.

This is the perfect balance or carbs for energy before lifting and protein post training.

Banana Nut protein cookies
Prep time

Cook time

Total time

Adapted from
Serves: 9

  • 2 very ripe mashed bananas (I thawed previously frozen ones)
  • 1½ cup quick cooking oats or traditional. (either is fine)
  • 2 scoops protein powder. (I used 1 scoop of About Time Banana Creme, and 1 scoop of Isopure 0-carb Vanilla)
  • (optional: A small handful chopped walnuts and raisins)

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix rolled oats and protein powder well.
  3. Mash your two bananas, and add to dry mix. Mixing and mashing very well.
  4. Optional: Fold in chopped walnuts or raisins. (this will increase macros a slight bit per serving. Fat and sugar content)

90 calories per cookie WITHOUT walnuts or raisins. This is a great pre-workout snack! Remember…Carbs are good, we use them for energy before a killer workout. Protein AFTER;)

The only problem with these….it’s hard to just have one!!!!!! Lol.
I’m so into these, that I now have a hoarders freezer full of extra ripe bananas. No. Joke. Go ahead, print it out and share with fam and friends:)

I am a huge believer in MORNING FITNESS! This silly selfie, like allll my gym selfies, are taken between 5 AM- 7 AM. YEP. I’ve always preached it. The best part about early morning workouts, your body still practically has no idea what the fuck is going on, so you could pretty much trick it into doing anything! lol. The second best thing, is that, you realllly set the tone for the rest of your day. When you start your day on the right foot, on the “fit” foot, you are less likely to binge throughout the day.
I promise you that.
Check this out…. See if you can give yourself 1 WEEKto try and wake up just a bit earlier and and get in a morning workout!
Here are a few tips to help jump start you!
Courtesy of @trainingroutines

Just a bit of sock game. These feet have gotten me through a lot. Don’t fail me now.
This weekend was solely committed to spending time with my family who is here visiting from Argentina. They are amazing people and being with them absolutely made my week sooooo much better:)
Family is key through the good and the bad. Is is a shot of us this weekend at my folks house doing what we do best. BBQinnnnnngggg!!! Yeehaw!
Homies till the end. The phreshhhhhest cousins around!
Fresh flowers this week to make my bathroom more pretty:) not usually a red rose kinda girl, but hey, there’s a first for everything.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post! I know, I little short, but this recipe makes up for it!
MY QUOTE FOR TODAY….(this week rather)

Hope everyone has a blessed day! Xoxo’s

Hello my sweet friends!!!! Well…it’s 87 degrees here in LA, I just got home from the gym, and I thought….shit. I need to holla for the big LOVE day;) I gotta tell ya…I’ve not a huge Valentine’s Day freak, but I do appreciate random acts of sweetness ! I do believe these acts should be practiced on most days…not just because someone decided to make it a holiday. Lol
I’ve been so busy lately, that I must admit my posting and cooking has been lacking to say the least. Unfortunately my meals have been very boring. ( back on that mealprep) You know what that means… Chicken breast..brocolli..sweet potato. Lol. I’m not gonna bore you with that. Lol. But, FORTUNATELY,I did say I was gonna get it back after the holidays, didn’t I!? ;)

So, the reason I’ve been quite busy….well, I’ve been killin it at the gym # 1, lol, but also because I’ve had some of my family from Argentina visiting! Woohoo;) These are some of my FAVORITE people in this world, I swear. When I’m not at the salon, or the gym…I’m with Family:)

This past weekend we took them to Sequoia National Park. This place is stunning! I told them to get geared up for snow……but they had no idea what I meant. Lol
Here we are…before the storm..chains…and almost getting stuck on the mountain. No bigs. Happy as pigs in shit.
Stunning views on the way up.
My beautiful people. How cute are they;) awwwwww.
Oh you know, just tryin to get a bit creative with the shots. Lol.
We jumped in the car after this stop, and that’s when shit got real.
Did I mention…..THEY’VE NEVER SEEN SNOW!? We were staying at the Wuksachi Lodge, in the heart of Sequoia.
Finally, 4.5 hrs of driving…a bit of car sickness, and a lil nap…we arrived!
Please take notice of the gear they’ve got on. Hahahahaa. I just love them…they fuckin showed up in jeans, and converse!!!!! lol. What r ya gonna do!.
I think they thought, “oh, we’ll see some snow capped trees, see a little snow on the ground…nothin major..” Bahahahahaha.
Reality check y’all. Snow to your KNEES in some parts ! My poor cousins….2 pairs of socks…then wrapped their feet in plastic bags…then put their converse on ! Lol
I haven’t see this much snow in a reallllllly long time! It was soooooo beautiful. I highly recommend this weekend trip to all of you. especially if you live in LA, where it always feels like summer ;)

The lodge was stunning and our room had huge windows where we could look our and have amazing views of those beautiful trees. If I wasn’t sledding outside or eating snow, I was doing this right herrrrrrrrrrrrr!
A glass of red in front of the fire.
Quite possibly one of my favorite things to do on this earth.
#1: be cozy
#2: with a glass of Pinot
#3: by a fire

On the second day, we headed to see the big Redwoods. Wow…..
I hadn’t been to sequoia since I was like 14 or 15, and when I went, it was fall or spring, so I had never experienced this view before. The biggest and baddest tree around y’all. I give you GENERAL SHERMAN.
Totally obsessed and amazing…now my feet were frozen. It was time to get back to my lovely LA APARTMENT. LOL
Yeayyyyyy, so that’s it for today lovelies. Please try out the recipe above, let me know if you’ve got variations. You know I’m always playing :) I hope you ALL have a beautiful, blessed and LOVED day:)
I am grateful to you<3

Hey guys!!!! Hope all of you had a fabulous weekend! For those of you who are in the Mid West or even East Coast….I’m so sorry for that nasty weather you’ve had:( ugh. I honestly don’t even know what that’s like. I’ve been fortunate enough to grow up most of my life, in sunny southern Cali, where the sun shines almost all year round:) I consider myself very lucky, trust me.

As you know, I realllllly fell off during the November and December, but I assure you that I am slowly getting back into the my healthy lifestyle. I suffered from a bit of binge eating the last couple months, yes I admit,  and I didn’t know how to control it. Deep breaths, I tell myself.
I’ve decided to change a few things about From Fries To Fit in the new year…one of them being, more dedication and focus on healthy recipes. As a new health blogger, I’ve noticed myself becoming a bit bored with trying to keep up with writing about fitness.
Listen, I’m into it, I swear. It’s just that I’ve found that I’m not that into writing about fitness. I will continue to share some workout stuff in my posts, but the main focus will be on RECIPES! with that, I will be including all of the macros for each recipe. Yeeaaayyyyy!!!

I’ve realized that my main issue…is with food. Yep. I can’t work out all day long. The one thing I need help with is controlling my food and making better decisions in general.
So, with that said…I hope you enjoy all these amazing new recipes coming to you from yours truly;)

Today, I bring you….dnnnnn dndunnnnnnnnn!!!

This has become an absolute favorite of mine! Sometimes good ol’ eggies just don’t cut it.

#1: This recipe is soooo damn easy, you could do that shit with your eyes closed!

#2: The flavor is rich in vanilla and absolutely kills the craving to have the other sugary naughty ones.

Those little brown things…those are carob chips (could also use sugar free chocolate chips, or 85% dark chocolate) . Now, thats optional, and would add a few extra calories to the mix, but they add loads of flavor and frankly….WORTH IT!

The one thing you MUST REMEMBER when cooking with protein powders, is that, they cook very fast. If not careful and aware, these babies can get tough. I say…try as couple batches:)
I made mine in a Breville convection oven, and they were done in literally 6 1/2 minutes!!!!!!
Ok….you ready for the bestest part of this!????

I’m in love with these! I’ve been eating two before my workouts in the A.M. Obsessed!!!!

Alright…enough with the food already;) time for some weekend highlights;)
Sunday Funday at county line in Malibu, CA.
YEP. 72 degrees and gorgeous.

I finally got to sport my new Billabong 4:3 wetsuit that the boo got me for Xmas!!! Yeay! I was amazing to finally not feel freezing in that water. We surfed for a bit, but after my head started pounding ( maybe cuz we had loadzzzzz of wine the night before) I got out and was ready for snacky time. My surfing is still pretty shit. Lol. A day at a time;)

I’m always VERY prepared when going to the beach.I bring a table. (I know…) I stock up on healthy snacks, like nuts, fruit, turkey roll-ups and of course a bit of sparkling wine;) We met up with some friends for an afternoon picnic and headed home.
I live for Sundays……sighhhhhhhhhh
Oh, and guess what…..
I met Marcin’s parents this weekend, and they were beyond cute! They made us a fab dinner along great wine, and (so thoughtful) a sugar free dessert! The sweetest couple.

Everyday, I strive for balance. When anxiety seems to take over me, I must remember these words. Take a few breaths…and make life less complicated. I hope 2014 will be full of this:)

Happy NOVEMBER! Time to roast those pumpkins!

In At home cooking, blogger fun, bodybuilding, clean food, events, fitness, friends, LIVE FIT TRAINER, new faves, popular recipes, Reviews, running, sweets, Uncategorized, zumba On November 5, 2013 1 Comment

Hi loves!!! With Halloween behind us, I can’t hardly believe that the end of the year is upon us. As you know, Halloween has never been my favorite holiday, but I loveeeeee fall, so…. I had to show support and at least get dressed up. Here’s a shot of us at my girlfriend Kelly’s house. She threw a great lil party. Honestly….I have absolutely no clue what I was supposed to be, but, it kind of resembled a sheriff from New Mexico. Of course, a bit of a sexy version. Whatever. Lol.

Anyway…for those of you wondering…(since I never post pics of boys) this is Marcin. He’s dressed up as a “big black cloud” and he’s dreamy. Sighhhhhh

Ok, moving on to more fall news;) finally time to start getting rid of some of these sugar pumpkins all over my house. From decoration into my belly!!! I decided to cut this puppy up, and roast it.

Pumpkin is pretty tough in texture and typically takes quite some tie to roast and soften in the oven, so I cut it up into small squares to speed up the cooking. A lil impatient you could say…..
Here’s an idea of what to do with the seeds when you remove them from the inside of the pumpkin. Lord knows…I HATE wasting food. SWEET CACAO ROASTED PUMPKIN SEEDS.

These little pumpkin bites were roasted with:

HONEY ( I used this one)

Roast at 400* for 40 minutes.

(note: pumpkin in itself isn’t very sweet. Do not get confused with “canned” pumpkin. When roasting real pumpkin, if you want it sweet, make sure to add a bit more honey to compensate for the bitterness.)

As you all know, Halloween comes with copious amounts of candy, on candy, on CANDY!!!!! Shit candy, really. Kit Kat, twix, snickers, ughhhhhhhhhh! I’m not gonna lie….I did give in and have a few. C’mon…who really didn’t have ANY shit candy?????
Well, yes….I’ve got a gnarly sweet tooth & will absolutely admit to having sweets (sometimes a bit toooooooo often) , but…….. if I’m gonna get cray on some sugar, this is what I wanna stuff my face with.

So, we’ve covered pumpkin, now, let’s explore another fall flavor. CARAMEL!
One of my favorite clients from the salon, Diane of has really hit the jackpot with these. I was a lucky son of a bitch to get to sample these sweet but slightly salty beer & Pretzel caramels. We have the best time when she comes into the salon. We chat, laugh, share blogging tips, compare recipes and bounce ideas. I love it. She has a total foodie like me!! :)

If I’m gonna get down on some sugar, I’d seriously prefer for it to be in this form; handmade with local ingredients, organic, & homemade with love! This is the best way to enjoy sweets my sweets! How freakin cute is there packaging though!!!???
I not only wanted to share these perfect little morsels because I LOVVVEEE them, but also because I was super inspired by Diane’s passion for whole, clean foods as well as her life balance of health with a bit of added sweetness;) I truly aspire to find that balance and find that passion. I promise I will make sure to send y’all a link soon on how you can get ahold of these, because they truly are such a great gift idea!

No babes…… You cannot have some….. Pups begging;)

November is here!!!!! This is how naughty I’ve been…. I haven’t been posting enough, I know. We went from the end of oct-the begging of Nov without a post! Wtf! Well, November pretty much came so fast, it practically slapped me in the face! This past Sunday ( November 2) was a a very special day.
My best friend Alicia (on the right) and I, along with close family and friends ran the 6th annual Heroes of Hope grey ribbon crusade to continue brain cancer research, in which all proceeds benefit childhood and adult brain tumor research at UCLA, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Cedars-Sinai Hospital. Alicia’s uncle was recently diagnosed with a lrg brain tumor and is currently undergoing chemo through Cedars-Sinai. We pray that he recovers and continues to live a healthy and cancer free life.

Sporting my new Saucony “The guide 7″ running shoes that they so graciously gifted to us at the Fitness magazine “Meet & Tweet” event.

The event was held at beautiful Dockweiler State Beach Park. I was surprised that the fog rolled out fairly early. We ran in sunny & beautiful weather:) Absolute best part: Loads and loads of supporters showed up!

For some reason, I thought we were gonna be running a 10k but apparently we signed up for the 5k. Whatever, I was just stoked to be running by the beach. It was actually perfect because I haven’t really been running lately, so a 10k at 7:30 am prooooobably wasn’t the best idea for my problematic, not trained feet. Lol. The 5k was perfect and super fun!

I came in 69th place. With a time of 26.38. Not too shabby! Well, for me;)

Any time, after a run….I am famished. Lol.
I’ve been a fan of Detour protein bars for some time now. (Since they were a sponsor at blend retreat) they are seriously awesome. These and quest bars are always my go-to!
Detour just came out with these and they are fab! IM SORRY BUT THESE NUTRITION FACTS SAY IT ALL.

Our team…. “F YOU CANCER”

I spent the rest if Sunday hanging with my bro, who is home visiting from vancouver;)

This weekend, I also decided to make an excuse as to why I needed to buy a million new bras and panties, and open up a Victoria secrets credit card. goooooood lord.
At least I saved $15, ha!

This is the thing…..I NEVER find bras that fit me perfect. I always just “make it work” lol. Soooooooo, when I tried on “THE DATE UNLINED BRA” I realized that I had met my match, my soulmate! I’m a sucker for a good deal, and guess what!? If you bought the bra ($28.50) you practically received a free matching panty! Whatttttttt!? Hell yeah. Bring it betch.
A set for $30!? I’ll take it….times 5. Lol

Anyway, back to things of importance. Fitness.
Yesterday, Monday, marked day 1 or the LIVEFIT TRAINER from
First day of week 9...LEGS.

Ok, so I didn’t actually do this whole workout today. Reason being, that I knew I had to teach Zumba at 7 pm and seriously thought it may be too much on my body. Sometimes, you just gotta be honest with yourself. I couldn’t do it.
My class was fantastic though and we had a great time finding out inner sexy bitch.
I surprised myself when I decided to stay for the next class, which was body sculpting.

Oh girllllllll! My body said “oh hell no!”
I immediately filled my tub with Morton’s Epsom salt, grabbed some reading material and soaked! Soaked my tired and sore muscles. Womp womppppppp.

Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week!!!! I am sooooo excited to visit my other bestie, Amy in the Bay Area this coming weekend!!!!

What my favorite time of year looks like…

In At home cooking, clean food, fitness, LIVE FIT TRAINER, local shopping, new faves, popular recipes, Reviews, sweets, thursday things, Uncategorized On October 24, 2013 0 Comments

Ahhhh!!! I can finally post!!!! Ugh I have been so frustrated. Well, today…my post is dedicated to my absolute favorite season.

This is what my October looks like….

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Mr. Fitzgerald… One of my fave quotes.
This is the time of year when all I want to do is be cozy, drink wine, and eat warm, hearty foods. You also best believe this betch has got 6 pumpkin pie, pumpkin swirl, cinnamon toast, crisp apple candles all over the damn place. I’m sure no surprise to those who know me. Lol.
I can’t help be really believe this quote. For me….my moods and outlooks change with the weather. Can anyone relate. In other words babes, this is a fresh start;)

Another reason to obsess over fall….FOOTBALL SEASON! Go Broncos!!!!!
Although….I can’t effing believe they lost at the Colts home this past Sunday. Pissed.
Love my old school hat though.

Cozy Willy and cashmere blankets covering my couch. On crisp mornings especially. Swoon.
Been really loving getting up and enjoying my mornings before rushing to the gym. I’m over that. Plus, now that I start work way later in the A.M, I actually feel so much more free, and and find that I really don’t need to wake up at 5 to get shit done. Absolutely lovely. Time is priceless.

The time of year when turkeys start popping up on magazine covers…..A couple of years ago, I hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 22 people at my parents house, and it was a huge success. It was a lot of hard work, and not gonna lie….expensive.

But….absolutely worth it. It was amazing. I called it my “William Sonoma Thanksgiving“. A lot of the ideas came from either that little William Sonoma mag they give out at the store during this time of year, or from the November issue of Bon Appetit. My favorite foodie magazine. Definitely not the healthiest of recipes, but damn delicious. This year, I’d really like to do something similar. Gotta chat with mom to see if we can round up the troops :) This year, I may see if I can healthify things a bit. You know…subbing cream for say……almond milk…or a nut meal crust with coconut oil instead of a shortbread pumpkin pie crust. Add stock instead of butter…. you know, things like this. What do ya’ll think. I know I should be talking about Halloween since it is the holiday coming up, but…to be honest, not a huggggggggggge fan of that holiday. Not interested. I like the decorating part, but no so much the dressing up and the rest of it. Anyway……

Ya’ll got any thanksgiving healthy substitution tips?

Fresh flowers are a must in my house. these are the latest addition this week.

These are what my October DAYS  look like. Riding around town with my roll dawg.

Ventura County beach days with Willy, chardonnay, and a picnic :)

What my October NIGHTS look like……….

BBQing outdoors, enjoying a fire pit….

Having a great glass of RED, and catching up with friends for dinner in Echo Park.

I cant go on with this post without my new FAVORITE FINDS!!!!!

Ok, so if you follow my instagram….you will see that I’ve been obsessing over Arctic Zero !!!!! Last week, Arctic Zero sent me a box filled with loads of different flavors to try. Droooooool!!!!! Talking about substitutions, this is by far the smartest ICE CREAM SUBSTITUTION!!!!

As you know, I’ve got a bad history with binge eating. This I do admit. On many occasions, I’ve scarfed down whole pints of ice cream, like a train was chasing me. Trying to get it down so fast so that I wouldn’t have to actually think about how guilty I would feel afterward.

Hmmmmm, does this sound familiar to anyone??? Well, If you’ve ever inhaled a whole pint of regular ice cream, then you must know that you’ve just consumed

1200 CALORIES!!!!! (ex: Dreyer’s)

WTFFFFFFF!!!!!!!! I know, sick. Because ice cream is seen as the forbidden fruit, we gorge on it because we think, “ugh, well… I better eat allllllllllllllllll of this now, because I am like, Never gonna do this again!!!!!” 1/2 a cup suddenly goes out the window.

I have found our new BESTIE!!!!! Arctic Zero offers GUILT-FREE frozen desserts for a fraction of the cals!!! They are delicious, I’ve sampled them all;) My personal fave…. STRAWBERRY. All made with no artificial sweeteners, NON GMO, low glycemic & made with whey protein! I’ve been even adding a couple tbsps in my protein shakes! Holy AMAZEBALLZ! The BEST part…..

150 calories a pint

36 calories per serving (1/2 cup)

This is no lie. I know it seems hard to believe, but see for yourself here. The proof is right there!

I am so freakin grateful to have found this product. FINALLY, I get to enjoy an ice cream treat without sacrificing a healthy diet. Now, knowing that I can have it whenever I want, and knowing that its not naughty at all, I don’t have that “forbidden fruit” mentality anymore. Available in 7 yummy ass flavors.

 Wanna know more??????

….Like, when, where, how, $, etc……..

You can’t possibly go on without Pumpkin Pie Spice creamer though October. No sir. For me, sugar free.

Listen, I know its fake shit, and soooo not natural OR organic, but you know what. Leave me alone. It’s one tbsp or less I use a day, so whatever! It is so yummy, and homegurrrrlllll loves her coffee! I swear I looked EVERYWHERE for this! Couldn’t find the Coffee Mate one, so I settled for International Delight.  Its pretty fantastic!!! 20 calories a tbsp for a cup of coffee beats a 100 cal nonfat vanilla latte from Sbucks, right?!

Sometimes, sweet potatoes just aren’t gonna cut it. I’ve been sick of em’. I’ve completely played them out. Pumpkin too. LOl.

I’ve moved on to Kabocha Squash. BYEEEEEEEEE. Have you ever had it? It’s probably the onesquash that you keep passing up when you’re at the store, cuz frankly, it’s pretty ugly. Dark greenish/brown usually. It’s one of the only squashes that I actually eat the skin after I’ve cooked it. It’s full of fiber, so go right ahead. Make sure it’s organic if you’re gonna eat the skin. It’s also one of the sweetest ;) I can’t think of a better FALL & October recipe to share with ya’ll. It’s a healthier alternative and pairs great with all proteins and other sides like veggies!

I made this the other night with a lemon & herb roasted chicken and a spinach & avocado salad with olive oil and champagne vinegar. It was soooo bomb!

That white stuff you see sprinkled over the top, is my absolute favorite cheese! MANCHEGO!

Kabocha Squash Puree

  • 1 whole Kabocha squash
  • ¼ cup unsweetened almond milk. (silk brand=30 cals for 1 cup)
  • 2 tbsp Fat free sour cream (Trader Joe’s brand=15 cals for 2 tbsp)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • pinch of cinnamon & nutmeg
  • salt & pepper
  • optional topping: Grated manchego cheese on top, or use your fave!

  1. Pre-heat oven 400 degrees.
  2. Cut kabocha squash in ½. Sprinkle both insides with garlic powder, cinnamon & nutmeg.
  3. In a baking dish, with ½ an inch of water. Place both halves face down into the dish.
  4. Roast for 40 minutes, or until very soft. top may brown slightly.
  5. Once cooked, let sit out to cool. Then add all the rest of ingredients along with roasted kabocha into a high speed blender, or whatever you have to blend.
  6. Serve puree with a bit of your favorite grated cheese over top;)

I hope you enjoy that simple recipe. It really did turn out awesome. oh & a lil secret…..

I made it for a boy, and he LOVED it;)

shhhhhh. <3

Here’s a shot I took while in Downtown LA. This is why I love Los Angeles. Street art is the tits.

SUMMER IS HERE! Time to get bikini Ready;) here’s your guide to success with The laughing cow & friends, Women’s Health workouts and ME!

In clean food, fitness plan, GPP FITNESS, new faves, PARTY TIME, popular recipes, Reviews, skinny grocery list, sweets, Uncategorized On June 21, 2013 2 Comments

The Laughing Cow® provided me with product for this review. However, thoughts and opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the brand

Guess what! First day of summer OFFICIALLY begins on JUNE 21st!Ekkkkkkk! Yes…that is tomorrow. Lol. So, we need to get it together ladies!
I know…we all know what that means! It’s time for a new bikini, and for most of us, this is dreadful, including me. It seems like we spend all year trying to prep our bodies and minds for this very moment. Haha. It does. It sounds ridiculous, but it is what it is! If it means working out more throughout the year, and changing eating habits….it’s all good then. We’ve done good for our bodies. I can think of worse things we could be doing. Lol.

A we all know, to reach ultimate results with optimal health, you need a game plan, a goal to reach.
I always remind myself…”Paula, it took 29 years to have this body, it ain’t gonna take 2 months for that body to change” I tell myself that when I’m feeling doubt, or when I wanna just say “eff it,give me that damn ice cream!”
It’s time. It’s time to start making changes, and for the long haul. I write this to you…I’m saying it to myself too;) Trust me, it’s hard for all of us sometimes. We are not robots. We have emotions, and sometimes those emotions lead to bad decision making. The key: To not beat yourself up about it. Stress is the root of all evil! That is why we’ve got this 89/20 rule. Beacause we can’t be perfect all the time!

Today, I’ve got a super exciting post for y’all! Dedicated to our summer bodies of course:) ( and hopefully continues after summer;) )
I’ve teamed up with my friends at The Laughing Cow to bring you some delicious and easy snack ideas and quick anywhere/anytime workouts ( brought to you by women’s health )to keep you on track and ready for summertime fun!
The 2 week calendar below will help direct you on how to get started! The Laughing Cow, along with some of my fave bloggers, Sarah Dussault, and Tina Haupert came up with all of these fantastic tips and ideas to make it easier on ya! It’s time to get our minds right!

For the next two weeks…. Follow these steps every day, to ensure success!

I’ve got some amazing workouts for you to try at home or at the gym. My favorite magazine, Women’s Health, is always either on my coffee table or at work. I am constantly following their quick but effective workouts, and I love to share them. Remember: If you use your time wisely with your workouts, you won’t need to spend 1 1/2 hrs at the gym. Trust me.

Below are some great examples of fat burning, muscle building, and HIIT.
When doing these workouts, and any workout really, keep in mind that, if it doesn’t challenge you, you MUST CHANGE IT UP. Always keep your body guessing. What this means…..really, 5 lb dumbbells. Um, you can do better than that… K, know what I mean;)

WOMEN’S HEALTH: The FASTEST way to lose 10 pounds!

WOMEN’S HEALTH: Get a bikini body-that ROCKS!

WOMEN’S HEALTH: A 15 minute arm workout- Armed for summer!

WOMEN’S HEALTH: The 15 AB workout!

My fave…..

And of course, as we all know, but hate to admit….that ABS ARE MADE IN THE KITCHEN…
So, to add to your hectic life….brought to you by The Laughing Cow and myself, a few quick, easy, and yummy ASS snacks for you to stay on track, are these babies! ;)
Snacking is how I live sometimes. In between meals and clients, I need a pick me up. My body needs to know that I haven’t neglected it, so remember to snack on something small in between meals to avoid:
#1: Not over-eating
#2: To avoid your body from storing fat ( if you go too long without eating while active, your body will think that you aren’t going to feed it, and will begin storing fat, or eating away muscle) no thanks.
#3: To not become ” HANGRY ” ( I apology see for what I said when I was hungry type attitude) lol

A packet of these RAW wheat free crusts will set ya back $4.50 totally worth it. Gluten free, raw, and amazeballz!

2-3 hard boiled eggs chopped ( only 1 yolk)

1 triangle of Chipotle Laughing Cow wedge

1/2 tsp mustard

1 tbsp light sour cream or 0% chobani nonfat yogurt

Salt & pepper

Mix together, top over crust and your done. BOMB!

These are fantastic! Little savory bite sized salmon cakes;)

5 whole wheat wheat thins

1 triangle of your favorite Laughing Cow cream cheese spread. ( my fave is chipotle and queso fresco)

1 tbsp of leftover baked salmon ( could also use smoked salmon, but more sodium)

Thick grated fresh cucumber

Sprinkle of sesame seeds

This is the perfect snack. Balanced in fat, protein and carbs, your body will thank you. This is a great pre or post workout snack;)

If your not into fish, no bigs….you can use chicken breast too;)
Oh, and did I mention that 1 wedge of Laughing Cow is only 35 CALORIES!
Love that! Lots of summer parties and BBQs happening this summer so bust these out as a fresh appetizer! Yummmmmmmm

For you who have a gnarly sweet tooth, like me, I’ve got something for us!!!! I have to admit….I can’t have a meal without finishing up with a dessert;) with this sweet little bite, it satisfies that craving. I was over the moon when my Laughing Cow wedges got delivered and I saw this…. FREAKIN CINNAMON CREAM ummmm, are you kidding me!
Obsession. With only 45 calories a wedge, you can eat this with absolutely no guilt. This is lovely smeared over a cut up apple, or well, pretty much any fruit.
Right now…get ready to go BA-NA-NASSSSS!

These are a fave! Kids adore them, and adults freak out;) top with your favorite seeds, nuts, or even a bit of chocolate.

Here’s the easy steps:

2 bananas (cut rounds)

2-3 Cinnamon Cream Laughing Cow wedges

Hemp seeds

Chia seeds

Shaved raw cacao (100%- the higher the % the higher in antioxidants)

In between 2 banana rounds, sheer a bit of the cinnamon cream and alternate with your toppings.
Serve chilled. So easy and delicious:)

Summer time, is the best time to eat clean and light, don’t you agree? It’s hot out, and
the last thing I want or crave during this time of year especially, is something heavy. Ugh. This is a great lunch idea. Now…for the vegetarians out there, clearly you won’t be using turkey breast, but….you could easily sub that out for some yummy sweet potato, beets, rotated carrots, or even seasoned tofu. Your call:) we all know, I love my protein, and by lunch time, I’m in serious need for something protein packed.

I wanted to try out some of these new Laughing Cow flavors, so I made three faux sushi rolls using the Light Creamy Swiss, Garden Vegetable, and the Chive & Onion wedges. Omggggggggg. So bomb! What I LOVE about these, is that that is all you need to add flavor. No need for mayo, or to OD on salt and pepper. Each wedge packs a mean punch of yummy flavor.

3 soy paper wraps

Finely chopped romaine

Organic herbed turkey breast

3 favorite Laughing Cow wedges.

3 of these roll ups for lunch, and you’re barely knocking on 200 calories! Whattttttt!

Lunch is packed. Loads of water…fruit…hummus…roll ups…cheese wedges.. Done n done.

For fun…. A healthy summer bubbly drink:)
Add your favorite alcohol for PARTY TIME! Lol
Listen…I’m not some health saint…I like a cool summer cocktail as much as the next chick, so if your gonna drink, make it AMAZING!

Crushed ice

Muddled strawberries

Muddled blueberries

A squeeze of Meyer lemon

Your favorite kombucha or kevita probiotic drink

A shot of your favorite rum, tequila, gin, or vodka

Yeah! Now….Amigas, you got the knowledge, you’ve got the motivation, you’ve got the workouts, you’ve got the recipes, tips and ideas….what’s stopping you!? Stop saying…”I’ll start tomorrow” Start NOW. We do it together… Break outta your shell!!
Summer is HERE! You’re beautiful and your worth it. Remember that.

GOT GRASS?? Get into it! My review of APS Grass Fed Whey Protein. You don’t want to miss this! Recipes GALORE and A RIDICULOUS GIVEAWAY!

In At home cooking, Breakfast, clean food, fitness, giveaway!, new faves, popular recipes, protein, protein shakes, Reviews, sweets, Uncategorized On June 14, 2013 7 Comments

It’s a very special day today:) Why? Cuz I’ve got some amazing PROTEIN PACKED treats (in the form of recipes) for you using a fabulous new product that I’ve gotten a chance to fall in love with;)

I promise, Iftar reading through today’s special post, you will too, want to try this stuff out. ESPECIALLY MY PALEO FRIENDS!

May I introduce you to……APS. All Pro Science. PURE AMAZEBALL-NeSs!

100% GRASS FED WHEY for athletes and individuals trying to build lean muscle mass.
* With a whopping 23 grams of all-natural protein, and very low in sugar, it’s sure to create the perfect balance for optimal muscle performance.

I love my protein powders! You all know this. I believe that, if used propyl within a balance and clean diet, you can really see results in your body. Although I do, love a good protein shake after a workout……sometimes, I need the action of chewing involved. Lol. That’s why I love creating fun and yummy treats ( that feel like cheats) that I can munch on throughout the day,and still keep my protein numbers up.

*** If you are training…..REMEMBER:
You should be consuming at least 25 grams of protein per meal. 5x a day!
honestly, it doesn’t hurt to keep that way of thinking in general, even when not

I was so stoked when APS asked if I would be willing to try out the product! GRASS-FED? Ummmmmm DUUUUHHHHH

It’s so important to know what is going in your body, and with this product, there is no guessing!

Ok listen….lets keep this simple.

** comes from grass fed cows, not treated with hormones or antibiotics.

** low in sugar, and contains NO filters or artificial sweeteners.

** 23 grams of protein per serving

** comes in 4 delicious flavors: Strawberry Crème, Bavarian Chocolate, French Vanilla, and Banana Crème

** only 3 grams of sugar

** benefits include:
* Enhanced Physical Performance
* Promotes Stamina and Endurance
* Supports Muscle Recovery
* Preserves Energy Levels

When doing my research on this product, I came to realize how much our food system has changed! If you look at labels now, it’s hard to find products that don’t contain any soy, or high fructose corn syrup, and that all started as a way for manufactures to cut costs immensely. All that crap is cheap, and you DON’T need that in your body. Unfortunately a lot of these sports driven foods, like protein powders and supplements have a lot of these toxic fillers. YUCK!

If you read here, you will see that APS is pretty transparent. There seems to be no shady business, and I like that it’s not soooo mass produced. KEY!

Here we go…I’m about to loose my shit in the kitchen!
First up:
French Vanilla:)

The thing with “French Vanilla Protein Powder” is that they all sort of taste the same to me. I like to switch up brands to see if I feel a difference between different “qualities” rather than “flavor. What I’m trying to say is,that you can tell this particular protein is better in quality.

The great thing about purchasing “Vanilla” is that, it can be used in sooooo many ways. You get your monies worth. It’s got more of a subtle taste compared to some of the other flavors. It’s easy to mask the vanilla flavor a bit, not so much with chocolate or strawberry.

On this particular morning….I was having a gnarly craving for protein pancakes.

Since I’ve been knocking out my GPP Fitness workouts first thing in the morning, I am starved and my muscles are craving protein by the time the clock strikes 7:00 AM. LOL.

This would be the perfect time to sample my French Vanilla APS Protein in baking!

I’ve got the recipe below for ya’ll, so make sure to print it out and share with your ripped friends! Also I would love it if you hashtagged #fromfriestofit & #allproscience on istagram along with the photo of your creation!!! Sharing is caring:)

Anyway, check out these ad boys!

They are not quite as thick as pancakes, they are a bit thinner, so they won’t feel heavy in your belly. For those of you that prefer or need a VEGGIE PROTEIN, click HERE.

I topped mine with a bit of Nature’s Hollow (sugar free) honey, sprinkled with hemp seeds, and a dollop of nut butter.

Play around with this…top with different fruits, seeds, and yogurts. This is a great staple recipe. Try it with different flavor protein powders.

Blueberry Protein Cakes
Prep time

Light and protein packed, these cakes are meant to rev up your metabolism. Who doesn’t love pancakes? Now, you can enjoy them guilt-free. Add these into your LEAN MEAL plan today!
Serves: 1

  • 1 packet / 1 serving APS French Vanilla Grass Fed Whey Protein
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • ½ cup egg whites
  • A handful frozen (prefer organic) blueberries.

  1. In a bowl, mix dry ingredients first, making sure to really work in that baking powder (it tends to clump)
  2. Add egg whites and mix well.
  3. A hand mixer is ideal to remove all chunks, but if you’ve only got a whisk, then whisk away!
  4. Fold blueberries in last.
  5. Grease a small skillet, spoon in batter.
  6. **Please note, that the batter consistency is quite liquidy, so they do expand. Using a small skillet keeps them the right shape.
  7. **Also don’t pour too much batter at once.

You can top with whatever you want! In this recipe, I topped my hotcakes with RAW HEMP SEEDS, and SUGAR-FREE HONEY

Another GREAT way to add APS French Vanilla Protein is to add it to your oats! Yes..I call them PROATS. Don’t judge. It’s what they’re called in the gym world. Get into it.

Oats are great for you. If you’re gonna eat carbs…eat oats. They are a fab source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and are very low in fat. Although good for you, they can really get boring. And…frankly, I won’t be adding sugar, raisins, and whole milk to them any time soon, so this is my delicious alternative.

If you thought healthy and protein rich oats would be bland and not phenominal….think again. This recipe (below) will teach you a thing or two about how it should be done. You FITCHICK you;)

PROATS! (Protein Oats)
Prep time

The perfect nutritionally balanced meal. Fuel your muscles with this power meal!
Serves: 1

  • ½ cup oats (old fashioned,plain)
  • 1 packet/1 serving APS French Vanilla Grass Fed Protein
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¾ cup Unsweetened almond milk (I LOVE this one)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup egg whites
  • * Psyllium husks (for added fiber)
  • * A few drops stevia if you like a bit sweeter. Taste as you go!
  • * Chia seeps sprinkled on top
  • * A tbsp of your favorite nut butter. ( I LOVE this one)

  1. In a bowl, mix ½ cup oats and APS protein powder. Add boiling ¾ cup water.
  2. Stir well.
  3. Now, add ¾ cup Almond milk, stir and microwave for an extra 40 seconds.
  4. Add egg whites, and microwave for another 40 seconds- 1 minute.
  5. Add in cinammon and any other optional ingrediets!

Again, I used the french vanilla whey in this recipe, but do not hesitate to switch it up. Chocolate would be great as well, add a lil stevia, a tbsp of cacao powder, and throw in some cacao nibs and VIOLA!

Ok, sooooo….. this one’s gonna knock your socks off! Let me tell you, I LOVVVEEEEEE CHOCOCLATE!!!! If I could have it morning, noon, and night….I WOULD. For real.I’ve tries a few different chocolate WHEY proteins, but this one is by far the smoothest, lightest, and NON-grainy. Probably due to their high grade ingredients. I’m telling you people!!!!! Do your research! The reason why I liked it better, was that it wasn’t so sweet! I’ve had some issues with some of the chocolate protein powders being over the top sweet. No thanks. I can add stevia if I want it a bit sweeter, you know.

The recipe I’m about to share with you is something you can whip up in merely 12 minutes! Yes, that includes the baking time;)

I make it a priority to make these fun, yummy treats for myself because I deserve them;) Plus, I want to have something really AMAZING tasting, that is healthy for me, not something that is gonna jeopardize my hard work everyday at the gym, training at home, or my dancing. I want results.

So, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. (really loud this time) “YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE & EAT IT TOO!”

You’re gonna wanna jump through the screen, and make out with me after you try this cake!! Ekkkkkkkk, its soooo yummy!

I tried the Bavarian chocolate in a shake, but I wanted to get down on some baking with it, so this is what I got!

Pretty standard single serving protein cake, but it won’t ever get old.

With this recipe, be mindful of over cooking. Check it at 8 mins, but for sure out by 10 minutes. It should be soft and moist. If you don’t get it the first time, don’t fret, most likely your oven runs a bit hot. Keep making it and playing arund with this, cuz it’s sooo worth it;)

** I topped mine with some raw cacao nibs, which did I mention, are natures’ #1 antioxidant. Yep.

* 1 tbsp nut butter

*0% greek yogurt

* Sugar free honey/syrup

* 1/2 tsp coconut oil or ghee (especially if you dried it out a bit)

 Want more cake???

Here are some other DELICIOUS recipes:

* Vanilla Almond Mug Cake

* Chocolate & Vanilla Protein Cake

Since I was a little girl…(here we go) lol…I have been strawberry obsessed! Fresh strawberries, Strawberry ice cream, Strawberry paletas, strawberry milk, it keeps going. You catch my drift. I’m just gonna go ahead and say…I’m pretty much a STRAWBERRY connoisseur. I’m not surprised that I left this for last!

ok, so here’s the deal. The last Strawberry protein that I tries was About Time Whey protein. It was really damn good! So I was curious to see how this one would match up. In shakes, I prefer the About Time…In baking or other stuff…I way prefer APS Grass Fed. Now, this is strictly on flavor…..As far as ingredients and supplements, I think APS is a bit better quality, most likely why it probably tastes more natural, but About Time has less sugar and carbs. Only by a few, not a huge difference, but you choose;)

Make some room babes…Here they come!

These are so incredibly easy to make, your 6 year old could make them! Andddddd……. with 4th of July around the corner, why not cheat like everyone else?! Except….. you’re not really cheating with these perfect little morsels. Trust me, they taste like a total cheat. ;) That’s part of the fun! A little red, white and….pink..Hmmmmm. You get it.

Better late than never! My Monday in food and reviews

In At home cooking, clean food, new faves, popular recipes, Raw food, Reviews, skinny grocery list, sweets, Uncategorized, zumba On April 27, 2013 7 Comments

Happy ( late) Monday Babes!!!

I don’t understand why people hate Mondays, and why they say ” I’ve got a case of the Mondays” ew. What’s that about. Ok, maybe it’s cuz I’ve got it off, but still. Mondays are statistically shown to be the best day to better yourself, your life, your decision making, etc, all of it. Have you never said ” I’m soooo starting on Monday, I swear!!” Lol, well, in my case, I started last Monday:) of course, I start something new everymonday. For example, today, I started adding super greens to my sports drinks. I’m just full of “new” whatever.

As you all know, Mondays are typically the meal prep day for me. So this post will prrrrrrety much be focused on food. Ok with y’all? I thought so;)

Since starting the 50 CLEAN EATS/ NO CHEATS I have felt nothing short of AMZING! If you haven’t already started following me on instagram, do soooooo! Listen, I’m not forcing you to do 50 days, shit, do 30 days, whatever. The point is to Challenge yourself to make the effort and change your body. Cheating on your clean plan can add up. This challenge is to make ourselves aware of what we are consuming and to to check in with our bodies and see how they are changing because of it. You can start this whenever you want. Ok, really…..GET. ON.IT. You’re worth it, stop waiting around. I’ve been posting all of of my fitfriends as well as my recipes and clean eats to inspire all of us. So far, 7 days down, 43 to go. Jump on whenever you’re ready;)

Anyway, for myself, I’ve decided to go 60% raw. I absolutely love a lot of the principles of keeping a raw diet, but honestly, with the amount of working out I do, I need my protein, and hell, I like hot food. Soooooo, 60% will do:) so here it goes, I busted out my huge ass commercial dehydrator, and started making snacks for the week. I love this thing. Think of it as a slow cooker x10. The idea is to dehydrate foods at such a temperature that will NOT remove the essential enzymes, and nutrients. This temperature is anything 115 degrees or lower, so clearly, at this temp, shit takes a lonnnnng time to “cook” planning ahead is key.

I was recently hangin with a friend who is about 85% raw, and he hooked it up with this fab recipe.
It’s the bomb.

You can find more info about dehydrating here. Go ahead print yourself this ridiculous AMAZEBALLZ recipe;)

Raw Zucchini Fries

And for the HOT food:
Meal prep Mondays consists mostly of proteins & veggies.
This next part: SOOOO EASY. No recipe needed.

-A bag of frozen skinny green beans from Trader Joes. I believe they’re called ” haricots verts” I mean, really…. They’re green beans. Lol

-Thinly sliced mushrooms

- Bean sprouts ( laaaaavvvvvv these)

-Coconut oil

-Salt & pepper

-crushed garlic ( like it’s your J.O.B) I like a lot;)

-liquid aminos.

-cayenne pepper( fo that spice!)

-optional: sprinkle sesame seeds

This will last me all week as a side to my protein. I even add this mix to my morning egg whites. Get into it. Super healthy and

I’m over red meat right now…. All I crave I swear, is SALMON! Super high in omegas and protein, it’s the ultimate when trying to keep a lean machine figure. Yes, I’m trying to make myself a lean machine. Salmon is considered a superfood. I baked 3 large fillets of wild Alaskan salmon with a very simple marinade,

-Salt & pepper

-Crushed garlic

-A dash of blood orange infused olive oil

-Orange zest

Salmon only really needs to be marinated for 30 or less. It eats up flavor quick. Please don’t try to marinate for longer, unless you’re ready to eat ceviche. C’mon babes.
I threw in some broccoli…why not. It add color:)

Oven at 350 degrees for 20 minutes and you’re done! Viola!

One of my beautiful lunches.

A big ol’ salad with loads of veggies. A side side of low sodium cottage cheese & grapes.

And if you’re ready for dessert…let me introduce you to my new fave…
Life is always better with a bit of chocolate;)
Ummm, I’m pretty sure your gonna freak for this one. A beautiful creation, for real.

Make sure you pick avocados that are ripe and ready for that super smooth consistency.
We’re not making guacamole here babes.

I meeeeeaaaan…… Hiiiiiiii. Isn’t she something! Topped it off with some raw cacao nibs and served cold. Soooo yummy. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Every week that I do my shopping, I make it a point to try something new and amazing that I MUST share with you. I am a little bit Whole Foods obsessed. These are my reviews and I have not been paid to do so. I’m bringing you the scoop on what I think is worth the cost.
Wile in Ojai last weekend, we stopped at this super cute local market that carried all sorts of super healthy, small business products.
When I saw this cereal, I nearly fell to the ground. Ooooommmmmgggggg PROTEIN CEREAL! Hell yes, how many can I buy before looking like a freak.
I’ve been having a single serving a day. It’s so yummy. Tastes just like apple cinnamon Cheerios. I know, bomb!
I actually love to eat my daily serving before a ZUMBA class. It’s not heavy on the tummy and is the perfect balance of protein, carbs, fiber, and fats. A cup a day, keeps the doc away;)

Take a close look at the box and nutritional info. A whopping 9 grams of protein, and only 12 net carbs. ( subtract fiber from carbs to determine “net”)

Ok, out of all of these products I’ve found, this is by far the most effective and AMAZING!
BIO-K plus dairy culture probiotic containing 50 billion active and efficacious l. Acidophilus

I have been taking one everyday for a week and my digestion has been on point! probiotics are beneficial bacteria which help regulate intestinal health, supports immune system functions, and improves digestion.

There are loads of uses for miso. Think salad dressings, marinades ( especially on salmon), soups, and many more.
Next up:
Speaking of probiotics, move over GT Kombucha! The bomb new fave!
It really doesn’t have much flavor to me, so it’s easy to drink, very effective, and without all that other jumbo jumbo. Kombucha tends to have too much sugar for me, and really, when I’m looking for this type of drink, I don’t need it too come with extra calories and sugar. You know what I mean?? Please click on the name and read up about the benefits of this great product. It’s raw and contains 45 probiotic cfu’s in an 8 oz bottle!!

HAPPY TUESDAY TO ALL MY BEAUTIFUL FRIENDS! I am feeling super inspired today! I feel like a new person;) I spent the weekend in Ojai, CA with mom, and had such a great time! Although fighting a terrible cold, I made sure to take plenty of supplements and suck it up. Getting a quick, relaxing weekend away, was just what the doc ordered. I got some serious sun. I look like a dirty face, no lie, we hiked, got massages, and enjoyed yummy healthy food:) I feel a bit cleansed really. There were some things that weren’t quite sitting well with my heart, that now feel settled.
I’m looking at things in a new light, and realized that it’s time to MAN UP. Lol. Life is too short.

Source: (Pinterest)

As most of you fabulous fit folks already know…. Monday marked the FIRST day of my 50 day clean eats/no cheats challenge, and so far, I am AMAZED at how many friends are participating! Sometimes, we all need a lil kick start! Right? Duh. Soooooooo, this is why I’ve started this. I am an EXTREMIST. Always have been, it’s my nature. So, when I fall off, I need someone to sit me down and say, “alright, stop fucking around, and stop being a cheater”. This is precisely why I started this. I LOVE a good challenge. I’m competitive with myself, so this will drive me to stay on track, and all my lovely friends are inspiring me to continue on the journey!

Ok, so originally, I was set to do 100 days.. Buttttttttt, I realized my best friends wedding was just under that, so that obviously wasn’t going to work, now was it!? Lol
50 days sounded perfect. Not too crazy. Although, most of my meals tend to be clean, I am the queen of binging on a cheat day. Not cute. So NO MORE CHEATS FOR ME! We all know “cheat meal” is a trigger word.

I wanted to share some of the meals my instagram friends have been sharing. Make sure to follow me on instagram for constant support, recipes, and clean ideas:)

This morning I woke up like a champ! Ready to get my sweat on! I was gonna hit the gym but instead I opened my emails and saw that I got my latest post from MYFITSTATION, a blogger I religiously follow, in which she shared some amazing workouts that I NEEDED to try. So, I got my ass in front of that mirror, got out my kettlebell, my gym-boss trainer and tried each lane of these power house workouts. AMAZING!

I am totally loving these workouts. Try each one and see which works best for you. Switch em’ up, repeat them, whatever. The best past, is that you can do these pretty much anywhere you have a little room. ;) In my case, in my bedroom;)
I hope they don’t mind that I’m sharing these on my blog, but they were just too good to not post.
I set my gym-boss ( best lil FIT tool out there) to 30 sec work + 10 sec rest. For 10 sets. Then, I would restart the boss back at set one when I started the following workout.

One of my insta friends posted this and I thought it was genius. We all wonder how much were burning, right? I thought this was a fun cheat sheet.

Ok, now…for the best part;)
Time for some foodporn. All this talk of working out has got me hannnnnnnnngryyyyy!
I am so craving this RIGHT NOW! I am a HUGE lover of banana bread, but typical banana bread is full of carbs and sugar, which is not the business for my FROM FRIES TO FIT 50 CLEAN EAT/ NO CHEAT CHALLENGE(follow my insta), sooooo, I’ve come up with my own clean ass, delicious version!

HALLELUJAH for this recipe. I would scarf the whole thing down, but I’m trying to practice self-control. A slice for breakfast and a slice for dessert;) week. Absolute new obsession. Tis guilt-free recipe will blown you away! It’s BANANAS!

Please do not expect some dry ass “healthy tasting” bread. This is seriously moist and perfect. You will wanna roll your eyes in utter satisfaction with every bite. I’ve finally perfected this. Ahhhhh, I’m so stoked! Even more excited to share with all of you FIT foodies;)

  1. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.

From sweet to savory…..thought I’d balance us out a bit. The following are some super healthy meal ideas that have become staples in my hizzle.
These are super fun. You can stuff with any of your favorite veggies!
The ones I made last night for my meal prep weren’t fully raw( a touch vegan) but still full of amazing nutrition.

I stacked all my ingredients on one side and used my sushi roller to make the perfect wrap.

In this wrap:

alfalfa sprouts

almond vegan cheese

parma nutritional yeast

braggs liquid aminos

hot sauce

These are fantastic for packed lunches. Another option, if you’re not a fan or nori, is soy paper or swiss chard leaves make for great wraps. Really low in calories and nothing but clean and nutritious.

Here’s my dinner GO TO!

Miracle noodles!

The healthiest pasta you will EVER consume.

Shirataki noodles are the ultimate substitute. They fill up your tummy as if you were actually stuffing your face with an actual full plate of REAL pasta:) OK, maybe not exactly like it, but hell, for 20 calories instead of 300, I’LL TAKE iT! They take on whatever flavor you add to them, and they are full of fiber.

Once out of the bag, you may notice a strange smell. Not to worry, stick in a colander, rinse thoroughly under warm running water and we’re ready to roll. Some folks like to flash boil them, that’s cool too, but, AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME 4 DAT.

Moving on…

In a hot skillet, add a tbsp of EVOO, add noodles, season with garlic & salt. Maybe even a bit of basil or oregano. We are not trying to cook them here…they are already cooked, we are simply adding flavor and heating them up with the seasonings.

In a separate small saucepan, add your tomato sauce. I love this brand.

Transfer the noodles to a bowl, pour your marinara on top, sprinkle with fresh parmesan and VIOLA!!

Serve HOT! HELLO HEALTHY!! Dinner is served.

Choco-choco muffin recipe…new fave PROTEIN smoothie…in WHAT PAULA ATE WEDNESDAY…

In At home cooking, Breakfast, clean food, protein shakes, sweets, Uncategorized, What Paula Ate Wednesday, zumba On April 10, 2013 2 Comments

Hi babes! It’s been a super packed week! I feel like I’ve been nonstop! Today…I’ve got a really special recipe for you. Well, a couple of recipes on todays post, but this first one, I shit you not, will blow your mind.
Get ready for the BEST tasting, and the most HEALTHIEST chocolate muffin that you will devour ever in your FIT life!
With 12 grams of protein and only 9 net carbs, you have found your new “BREAKFAST BESTIE”
You’ll never have to break up with chocolate again if you keep these guilt free muffins around;)

I found this recipe originally from fellow healthy blogger but tweaked a few things to my own liking. Check her version too…you may end up liking it better. I’ve also recalculated the nutrition facts to my version :)
If you’ve ever played around with baking with protein powders or even most flour alternatives, then you know the dilemma….dry or rubbery. Ugh, it’s happened to all of us. Usually, the reason being, not enough moisture/liquid in recipe, over cooking, and not mixing well enough. Soooo touchy these healthy recipes! Geez:/.

With these perfect little morsels…I think I had an “Aha- moment”. They were DELIGHTFUL, cakey, soft, moist, amazing flavor…ALL OF THE ABOVE!

sugar free, low carb, gluten free…I mean you just can’t beat that. It tastes absolutely SINFUl, but I promise… GUILT FREE.
Recipe type: Breakfast
Cuisine: American
Serves: 6

  • 1 cup oats made into a flour. ( i just threw mine in the food processor)
  • 4 tbsp Flaxseed meal (ground Flax)
  • 2 tbsp Coconut flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cacao powder
  • 1 scoop or packet About time “chocolate” protein powder
  • ½ tsp Cream of Tartar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp sea salt
  • 3 egg whites
  • ½ cup organic unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup 0% greek yogurt OR Fromage Blanc ( I love Vermont Creamery, less sugar and carbs than greek yogurt and tastes the same…Whole Foods)
  • 3 tbsp sugar free honey (natures hollow)
  • dark chocolate chips or carob chips. The darker, the better:)

  1. Grease a 6 muffin tin. I used coconut oil spray.
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  3. In a large bowl, thoroughly combine all dry ingredients, once mixed well, add all wet ingredients one at a time, while continuing to stir and mix.
  4. A hand mixer would also work great at this point. OR, honestly, you could just blend everything except the choco chips in a vitamix or food processor.
  5. Using a spoon, evenly dollop batter into muffin cups
  6. Sprinkle chocolate chips over each one
  7. Place in oven and bake for about 12-14 mins. I will always check mine a bit early cuz I go crazy if I burn my muffins!

I’ve always preferred a European style breakfast…you know, coffee & a pastry. Although sometimes opting for a healthy egg white omelette or turkey sausage out of “this is what I should be eating, Once I realized that I could sneak in all the nutrients and protein I needed into a muffin, without devouring a 500 cal pastry from coffee bean, my mornings turned into my favorite meals of the day!
So this is how I started off my WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY.

I’m still not used to being off on Wednesdays from the salon, so I wake up frantic, then realize I get to sleep in, then I start baking, duh… Oh and then, I start dancing in my living room;) a bit of ZUMBA at 8:00 a.m is always a good time!
I taught ZUMBA at 10:30, and my Amigas rocked the house!
They work me out as much as I work them out, so I make sure to replenish my body and feed my muscles right after class with protein shakes.
I’ve found my new Fave!
Here’s your next recipe…. A bit of homework for y’all….
There are a few optional items in this recipe, in which you can omit…but I recommend them, so up to you;) one of them being bee pollen… BEE POLLEN is recommended by herbalists to enhance athletic performance, relieve allergies, and help with stomach issues.
Another optional ingredient…IRISH MOSS. Which is used as a natural thickener and comes with loads of nutritional benefits that you can read up on here.
One ingredient you clearly do not want to skip out on, is the PROTEIN. In this case, I used about time vanilla whey. 25 grams of protein per scoop, and all natural!
Fresh fruit is always a plus. This was a treat for me! A full mango (well, a small one) it was ripe, and soooo ready! Also in this recipe, 1/4 banana…for that yummy flavor and smooth texture that gives this recipe a “shake” vibe.

I also like to add a spoonful of flax meal. Flax offers an enormous amount of healthy omega fatty acids. I make sure to keep my flax meal in the fridge or freezer to prevent spoilage.
Omega fatty acids are essential in a healthy diet.
Studies show that consuming fresh flax meal, or flax oil can help to reduce the chance of heart disease, lowers bad cholesterol and blood pressure. When you get the chance….add it to everything you can think of;) lol.

  • 1 tbsp flax meal

  1. easy peazy… throw it all in a blender or vitamix and call it a day.

Lunch was super clean and completely predictable… Roasted chicken breast, brocollini, and roasted peppers with hard boiled egg whites. Boring, but nutritious and quite yummy. I managed NOT to dry out the breast. Story of my life.

The most exciting part of “WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY……..
This ridiculous seed and nut butter! NUTTZO.

I have been hearing and reading about this amazing nut butter for a long time, so I made the plunge. $12.99 well freakin spent. So worth it. The taste is UNBELIEVABLE! I was so anxious to try it, that I popped open the jar right as I got in the car at the Whole Foods parking lot. Don’t judge me….. NUTTZO if you’re reading this…SEND ME MOREEEEE!!

So as you now know, I am the newest member of SCFITNESS and feel totally honored and happy:) this weekend was our first photoshoot for the new website. Here are just a couple shots of my awkward self. Prob not the one that’s gonna go up, but just sharing:) I can’t wait till these damn bangs grow out. They were in my face the whole freakin day. Ugh.

Apparently I was soooo feeling turquoise. Homegirl is lovin Er’ blue.

In other ZUMBA news….. A super exciting time for not only us as intructors but also for students and fellow ZUMBA lovers. ZUMBA Fitness now has a fantastic app for iPhone where you can find your favorite class or instructor and CHECK IN! let everyone know that you are up, and dancing, and maybe inspire others to do the same! Not only can you check in, but NOW, ZUMBA home office will will make a donation to a campaign aimed towards ending world hunger every time you check in!

The idea is called ” THE GREAT CALORIE DRIVE”
For every calorie burned in class, ZUMBA will donate money so that others can eat! Pretty amazing, and so excited that I get to be a part of this. So, remember to always check in, and log in your calories burned. I always wear my ft60 polar heart rate monitor, and never burn less than 600 calories!

The day of the shoot, I had taken J. FIT’s bodysculpting class, which left my legs and body feeling wobbly, she kills me,so I was stoked to get home and spend some much needed mommy time with Wilbur! Aww, my boooooooo;)
At the end of the day, after Running around all day…this is what I really wanted. Home sweet home!

I posted this pic the other day on my insta…thought I’d say bye as a playboy blonde;) my goodness…. Love y’all! Can’t wait to get crazy with my Thursday night class!

Better late that never, eh!? Hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful, sunny in LA, weekend!;) I certainly did. If you don’t know me by now, my “after weekend” posts usually include a sunday fam BBQ day, and what kind of person would I be, of I didn’t post every one of those special Sunday’s pics. To most of you, they look the same as every past Sunday’s, but to me, it’s about catching up, enjoying my folks, their backyard, the dogs running around like psychos, mom and I spending too much money bargain shopping, trying to convince dad to build me something ” rustic, yet contemporary” ( I need a new desk) LOL, oh and the best part…. Stuffing my face with red meat, chorizo, and blood sausage. It’s my once a week VICE.

Here are some highlights;)
New favorite POWER protein Breakfast:
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 mashed ripe banana
A few drops vanilla extract
1 tbsp raw nut butter
1 tsp flax meal or flax seeds
1 tsp unsweetened shredded coconut.
I know sweet eggs!?

Trust me…..

Best damn kale chips around y’all. Brad’s RAW Foods offers kale chips that are packed with the best flavor. I’ve tried loads of different brands and these by far are the crunchiest, and healthiest:)
Find them at whole foods, or online here.

Btw, sorry I’ve been neglecting fitness pics, but…thing is, I’ve been so focused on my ZUMBA training, that I haven’t really had the time to do any other kind of workout lately. I get certified this week!!! ahhhhhh So I thought I’d let you know….I’ve been doing ZUMBA 4 days a wk. oh, and in between, practicing at home or with my headphones at work in while dancing like a freak in the staff room. Yes, I am the only one hearing the music, so everyone’s like WTF is she doing. Lol.

Anyway, now that I’ve confessed the fact that I haven’t been at the actual GYM, we can move forward with this post of mostly food;) hehe.

Sunday BBQ prep. Salad with cilantro, green onions, tomatoes, lemon, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and oregano.
About to sautée some brussel sprouts.
And cook up some sweet potato as mom and I’s carb of choice.

Dad is always in charge of the BBQ. Today, we’ve got steaks, blood sausage, and Argentinian style chorizo. Sooooo bomb!

Mom likes to serve ciabatta bread in 3′s. As if anyone but my dad is gonna eat any. No thanks. Once I ” break the seal” ( the, I’m not having any bread, seal) it’s all over. Carb-o-binge like its goin outta style. Not cute, and “Ain’t nobody got time for dat!”

Don’t be jelz…..
Dreaming of it now…
I ate all of it yes.
We also shared a really great bottle wine. Then, we decided to go shopping. This is probably how I managed to spend way too much money “bargain shopping.” Two cart’s full of stuff, does kinda cancel out the fact that you’re getting a good price. NOTE: avoid shopping and drinking.

I won’t bore you with what I bought, or what I spent;) lol, but…I will share my dessert with you!
Mom is a total saint, and made this amazing low carb, full of protein
CARROT ZUCHINNI PROTEIN CAKE that I recently shared on my Facebook page. It’s a recipe created by one of my favorite protein bakers! My homegirl over at I hadn’t had a chance to make it yet, so mom surprised me:)

I must say….. It is perfection. not too sweet, not at all “veggie” tasting, and it’s virtually GUILT-FREE. Cake & coffee, precisely what I needed after spending too much dough. I swear, give me cake, and I don’t give a shit about anything else. Hahaha.

Favorite fruit of the moment:
PINEAPPLE. Seriously addicting . Although delicious, watch out…it’s full of sugar. Indulge in small portions;)

Alright, here comes your

Have you ever gone to M Cafe???
Well, if you haven’t had the pleasure yet, I highly recommend it. Granted, there are some things, I’m not such a big fan of, but there is one dish in particular that I’ve completely fallen head over heels in love with. M cafe caters to a healthy macrobiotic diet/lifestyle. Read more about macrobiotic here. I searched high and low to bring you the best version of M cafe’s KALE SALAD WITH SPICY PEANUT DRESSING.
his is huge news….. You’re gonna freak out, and yes, you will thank me. Kale can sometimes get a bit boring, so this recipe really spruces up your relationship with it.
Nothing boring about this bad boy.

The original recipe calls for regular ol’ natural peanut butter, but I thought I’d switch it out for a less fattening option….my trusted PB2 will do just perfect. ( scroll to the right, click on specialty foods, and scroll through the pages, you will find pb2 on my amazon faves!)
I’ve attached a print- friendly recipe for you to grab. I made this so quick, oh, and I ate it just as quickly;) it’s super easy!
1. Blanch the kale
2. Sautée shallots, onion, garlic
3. Make your spicy peanut dressing.
4. Combine, garnish, and serve;)

“M Cafe” Kale Salad with Spicy Peanut Dressing
Obsessing over M CAFE’s Kale salad…..naturally….I HAD to make it! Delicious, with a kick, and outrageously healthy;)
  • 1 large bunch kale (about 3-4 cups)
  • ¼ red onion, sliced very thin
  • 1 shallot
  • ½ tsp high heat oil. (I used safflower oil)
  • Spicy Peanut Dressing
  • ½ cup PB2 (1/2 cup when mixed with water) Or natural peanut butter, but will raise the fat content
  • 1 Tbsp Nature’s Hollow honey
 (sugar free)
  • 2 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp brown rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp. garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp. ginger, minced
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ oz hot water

  1. 1. Remove the kale from the stems.
Add a pinch of Salt to a pot of boiling water, then blanch the Kale for 3 min.
Remove the Kale from the boiling water and shock it in a container of ice water.
Finally, squeeze the excess water out of the cooled Kale.
  2. Sautee onions and shallots with a bit of salt and pepper and ½ tsp oil until softened. Set aside.
  3. Spicy Peanut Dressing: Place all dressing ingredients into a blender. Blend until mixture turns into a smooth consistency.
  4. Drizzle the dressing on top of the Kale and onions, and mix the kale and dressing together until kale is evenly coated. Garnish chopped peanuts.
  5. *Makes enough to dress 2 large bunches of kale. Stores well refrigerated for up to 6 weeks.

Note: I used PB2 to cut down on the fat, but you can certainly use all natural peanut butter.

Hey guys! Hope the week was amazing for all of you! It’s a gorgeous day in sunny LA, and I’m sooooo looking forward to a weekend laying by a pool somewhere;) can you tell, I’m so ready for summer? This post is primarily focused on breakfast recipes. I’ve been getting a lot of questions lately specially about my protein pancakes, so he they are!

On another note, I’m so excited and honored to be announcing Kelly from EAT YOURSELF SKINNY is doing a sponsor spotlight on my blog. OOOMMMGGGG. Yes, I know.

So now, I invite you all to enjoy Saturday morning breakfast with me. Well, Sunday brunch too;) I’ve got some yummy low carb, protein filled, über healthy recipes for you to try this weekend!
I never skip breakfast, and neither should you. After all, it is the most important meal of the day, and those who know me, know, I eat like a queen in the morning. It sets the tone for your day, so make it count, and make it clean!

The whole “oats” thing is new to me I must admit. Being on a pretty strict Low carb diet, (with the occasional carb/sugar binge) I never really got into them…but now that I’ve upped my cardio and weight training, I’ve been advised that perhaps incorporating these fiber packed bad boys into my diet, it would be super benefitial.

So here it goes,

CHOCOLATE COCONUT PROTEIN OATS ( with banana..optional)

1 packet or scoop of About Time chocolate/peanut butter whey protein

3/4 cup organic oats

1 tbsp unsweetened shredded coconut

2 tbsp fromage blanc ( I use Vermont creamery)

1 tbsp raw cacao nibs

1/2 cup silk unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 cup water

4 drops stevia

Optional : vanilla extract and 1/4 cut up banana

Pour oats in a bowl.
Add milk and water and microwave on high for 1 1/2 minutes or boil milk and water and pour into bowl of oats. Whatever is easier. Add in the rest of your ingredients, mix well and top with banana. Let sit to allow for the oats to soften.

Next up…. The recipe everyone keeps asking me about;) Protein pancakes!
There are so many different ways to enjoy these pancakes. The foundation is easy. Simple…just your favorite protein powder along with 3 egg whites, and add whatever you want to the mix or for a topping.

They were so good I had 2 1/2 donuts in one sitting with my coffee and had absolutely no guilt about it. None:)

Hello my lovelies! How was everyone’s Sunday?? I can’t tell you how excited I am for today to be here! Guess what…..? You know how I’ve been little by little redecorating and arranging my upstairs? Well, the best, well, first piece of new furniture is coming today! Wooooohooooo. My gorgeous new bed! Ahhhhhh. Ok, we’ll go into that in a bit… First, I wanna share I little morning joy with y’all… Lately, I’ve been loving eating protein cake in the morning, total gymrat food. You know how I love my sweets, but can’t consume real chocolate cake on a regular for breakfast ( I’d be a house), so this does the job for me;)

(Adapted from @tastyhealth)

2 scoop chocolate About Time protein

1 tbsp cocoa

2 egg white 1 tsp baking powder

4 tsp coconut flour

2 tbsp greek yogurt

1 1/2 tbsp stevia (granulated)

6 tbsp  unsweetened vanilla almond milk

These are her exact DIRECTIONS:

Mix everything and put in a mug/bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and put in the microwave for 45 sec up to 1.5 min depending on how runny you want it. Don’t overcook though! You might have to stop after 45 sec and then go in 10 sec intervals to prevent it from overflowing

This was awesome! This microwave method cooks thing very fast, so please be mindful of over cooking, as it can become very dry. It took me a couple tries to perfect it.:)

I whipped up some vanilla topping with:

2 tbsp 0% Greek yogurt
2 tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk. ( I use this ishhhh for everything)
Couple drops vanilla extract
4 drops stevia
And sprinkled with unsweetened cacao powder.

Listen, is honestly EASY.

My parents were coming over at 10:30 am to come help with the bedroom, so I had to dash to gym ASAP.
I took my liquid L CARNITINE
Filled my blender bottle with three scoops of MRM bacc+ g and filled with water.

Oops I did it again….BBQ.EATS.TARGET. My Sunday recap<3

In abs, bedroom, circuit, decor galore, popular recipes, Sunday funday, sweets, Uncategorized, WOD On February 12, 2013 0 Comments

Ahhhhh, Sunday finally!!!!

Not too much to report today y’all, except lots of EATS! Oh, and andddddd a bit of working out. Actually, my favorite days to workout, are my weekends. I’m not rushed, feel more relaxed, and get a better workout because of it.
Ohhh, that’s right, it’s GRAMMY night tonight, huh? Shit, I kinda forgot. Yes, I will be on the couch for tonight’s event.

I slept in till 7:00 a.m. today, and it felt fantastic:) remember, I started doing yoga once a week? Well, today is the day. I’m loving doing this hour and 1/2 class on Sunday morning. Class was at 9, but I wanted to hit the gym before hand for a good cardio and AB sesh.

So, 7:30 came, and I pumped myself up with some RIRI AND JT, ( for those of you who are looking at that, like, ummmm. RIRI=Rhianna and JT= Justin Timberlake.) and headed to the gym.
I get there……CLOSED!!!!
I could kill. WTF.
Ugh, so I drove to god knows where to find the next freakin LA Fitness.
Gt there, and immediately jumped onto the elliptical and started my circuit.
At this point, I didn’t have much time, so I had to make the most out of 45 minutes.

30 minute intervals.

Alternating :

Resistance 5 and incline 9 for 2 minutes

Resistance 10 and incline 5 for 3 minutes

Kept alternating at a quick speed to get the heart rate up for the whole 30.
I was having a bit of a hip issue, so I wasn’t into running today, but the elliptical suited me just fine, easier on the body I think.

For the following 15 minutes, I worked on abs.

25 crunches on stability ball

15 leg lifts

15 military sit-ups with a 10 lb dumbbell

50 bicycles

15 leg lifts

Yoga today was spectacular! I felt strong and focused. This particular class is a Hatha yoga class. Today, I worked on my breathing and really getting deeper into each pose. Loved it. I was super energized after class, so I went straight home, picked up willy, who of course was having his daily panic attack as soon as I walked thought the door, and drove to the folks house for fam bam time;)

A lil Sunday SELFIE:)
I’m straying trying to decide if I’m feeling my new 70′s fringe look. The only thing about bangs, is that they get annoying! and greasy when I get hot. Hmmm, we’ll see how long they last. Lol

Since I’ve been following targetdoesitagain on instagram, I’ve gone absolutely MAD for target shopping. Trust me, this girl’s got a target red card! ohhh yessss. That’s wazzzzzup!
And since I’ve been playing decorator in my upstairs bedroom, I decided it was time to start laying the pallets down for the new look. I don’t even know what the hell I bought, but I’m so into it. Maybe I should have waited until I had the most important things girls, I.e. a new bed, office, art, dressers, you know….just THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS! whatever, sometimes the smaller things like, side tables, pillows, vases, and lamps help me to discover and inspire a look.

I swear I could spend all day in that effing place. $400 later. Byeeeeeeee

As you know, Sundays are BBQ day at this household. All I have to say is….thank god I worked out for 2 1/2 hours, cuz, i mean…. Homegirl ate some food. It was absolutely beautiful outside, as are most days in sunny Cali, so, we opted for a tiki bar lunch. We literally eat off of beautiful wooden planks of wood. I mean….. We’re just reallllly rustic;)

Dad cooked up a MEAN ASS BBQ! this is the way us Argentinians do it, simple. This was done literally with no added stuff other than salt, and lemon.

Chicken drumsticks, Argentinian chorizo, and mollejas ( sweetbreads) my favorite. No red meat today. I’m telling you I dream of Sunday BBQ with the folks. It’s sooo bomb.

The sweetbreads and chorizo tend to be on the fattier side, so I didn’t eat the skin on the chicken. Trying to balance out…hmmmm lol. My logic sometimes is distorted.

No carbs with this meal, just pure protein and fats. Mom made a simple salad, with red onions, and tomatoes, dressed with olive oil, lemon, salt & pepper.

And as a side: marinated in olive oil and vinegar, pickled eggplant. Omg soooo good. I had just a couple tablespoons of that.

Btw….ummm, I ate more than what you see on this plate. Lol. Like, a lot more;)

So I don’t know if you know this about me, but I am COMPLETELY obsessed with anything lemon! Like, my binge food, other than fries, may just be lemon meringue pie. I swear, I die over that shizzzzzzle. So mom, bless her, as she is on the same diet plan, made us a gluten free, low carb, LEMON COCONUT CAKE to enjoy for dessert. Aweeeeeee. Adorbs.
I must share Mom’s recipe with y’all! It was divine!

3/4 cup coconut flour

1/2 cup xylitol or erythritol ( or if using stevia, 1/4 cup granulated/ liquid stevia, 20 drops.)

1 cup shredded coconut

1 tbsp freshly grated lemon zest

4 eggs

1/3 cup fresher squeezed lemon juice

1 tbsp vanilla extract

1 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk ( vanilla flavor is fine)

3 tbsp of butter ( if you think about it, 3 tbsp is not a lot, considering it makes a whole cake)

Merengue topping:

2 egg whites

2 tbsp of xylitol or erythritol ( you can find all of these sugar subs online or at who,e foods if you’ve got one near you.)

For cake:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
In a large bowl, mix all dry ingredients. Then add all wet ingredients and blend or beat until all combined really well.
Grease a baking dish and place batter inside. Cook for 30 minutes.

For merengue topping:

Beat egg whites and xylitol ( or whatever sugar sub you decided to go with. ( remember, stevia is the sweetest) until they form stiff peaks. It may take 7-10 min or so sometimes. Be patient, well worth it.

Once cake is out of the oven, ( insert toothpick though the center to unsure doneness) spread merengue topping over, and stick under broiler for just literally 1 minute. You really just want to brown the top, not burn. Very important to keep watch at this point.

And that’s all folks. It was so delicious. The best part was, that it didn’t leave me feeling bloated, and guilty. It was made with all ingredients that I could eat. Thanks MAMI!!!!

I ate mine plain, but I topped Dad’s piece with a bit of honey, walnuts, and raspberries. He was feeeeeeeking it! And he doesn’t eat anything that we call “health food” so, you know what that means!

Ok, get ready for another recipe. I just couldn’t leave you without sharing this amazing dinner I made the other day. I posted it on instagram, and it received a standing ovation;) this one is going in the books y’all. I was texting back and forth with a friend the night before, while he was trying to decide what to make for dinner, and chicken pot pie was the winner. In that moment, I had the ultimate craving. But, how to make it low-carb, that was the question!?

Ohhhh hell yessss! I totally succeeded!

For filling:

1/2-1 tsp coconut oil or safflower oil

1/2 a med/lrg chopped onion

1/2 a large leek sliced

1 cup sliced mushrooms

2 handfuls of either kale, spinach, collard greens,I used Swiss chard.

2 slices of nitrate free turkey bacon ( Trader Joe’s has great options)

2 cloves of garlic

1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 tsp coconut flour (to thicken)

Salt & pepper to taste

1/4 teaspoon Garlic powder

For the no-carb” flaky crust”:

1 tbsp coconut flour

1 tbsp ” chipotle” flavor nutritional yeast

1 egg

1 tsp water

For the sauce

1/4 cup unsweetened almond or flax milk.

1 tsp ghee ( clarified butter) or any all natural butter you want.

1 tbsp Parmesan

Sautée first on med heat: onions, leeks, mushrooms, salt & pepper in a tsp of coconut oil for 5 minutes while stirring. Add greens and turkey bacon. Lastly add garlic powder and fresh garlic. Sautée another 10- 15 minutes. Set aside.

While that’s cooking, make your ” crust”.
Spray a pan with smart balance spray or organic coconut oil spray and turn heat to med. In a small bowl, mix coconut flour with nutritional yeast. Add the egg and water and mix well, removing all lumps.
Spread out evenly in pan like a big pancake. It cooks very fast so be quick on the flip.

Using the same pan as the sautéed veggies and bacon you’re gonna add almond or flax milk, butter, and Parmesan. Bring to a quick boil, and simmer while stirring. All we want here, is for it to thicken up, once we achieve that, ( 5-6 minutes). We will turn off and begin the plating.

Using a circular tall cutout ( almost like a taller circle cookie cutter) I cut out two circles from the pancake. One for top and one for bottom. I placed one at the bottom of the cutout, and filled the inside with my stuffing, then placed the top circle over everything. Lifting the cutout, while pushing down a bit, as to not accidentally lift everything up.

Pour the sauce over and enjoy! This recipe will suit 2 people and I promise you will loveeeeee!

Ok, so as I shared earlier….I went a little nutzo at target this weekend and wanted to share some of my finds!! I know you all wish you could live at Target, like me, soooo I thought I would bring a little Target to you;) ok, so….confession time:

I’m not showing you all that I bought there, but most. I just got tired of taking pics of stuff. Lol, oh and, I almost forgot….I hit up T.j MAXX on the way home, and did a bit of damage there too…… Not too much though;)

Ok first thing: a TJ MAXX find.
Gorgeous Christian Lacroix postcards. S cute, and some of them even have a bit of red velvet on them. Soooo fancy hunnnnayyyy. I’m ol’ school like that, I still love sending cards and postcards, I think we need people to get into this habit. Too much texting and emailing, no!?
Anyway, I thought they were fun and pretty.

So, as you know, I’ve been struggling to get the upstairs going with the “new look” and today, it started alllll coming together. I purchased a new bed. ( which will be a surprise, until the big remodel reveal) and now I’ve got some great accessories to go:)

This great woven picture frame! Rustic yet contemporary.

A simple black and off white bar that will most likely be for my desk. This piece goes with everything.

The my favorite piece: this beautiful wooden bowl, with blue accents. Stunning.

It’s all about teal! well, subdued turquoise. This fabulous vale is from Target, and the planter n’ cake holder from TJ MAXX.

This piece can really go anywhere in my house, but I bought it for the office. I like to have a designated mail pile. That is what’s gonna happen here. Mail pile on silver. I’m feeling it.

Last exciting find I’m gonna share with y’all, are these bad boys! Beautiful and actually comfortable wedges. So cute for work, and summertimeeeeeee! Lovin the double color.
What are some of your favorite stores to splurge at??
I neeeed to know! ;)
Hope you guys had a fabulous weekend! Thanks again for following me and my life, I really love to hear from you guys so that I can better improve the style of the blog, so please, please, let’s keep in touch! Love uuuuuu

My Sweet Valentine <3

In Breakfast, clean food, popular recipes, sweets, Uncategorized, valentines day On February 8, 2013 0 Comments

Ok protein lovers, time for some SUGAR-FREE sugar!! and in a healthy way! A breakfast and dessert that will BLOW YOUR MIND! I’ve been hitting the workouts hard lately and been trying to up the amount of protein I consume throughout the day. What better way to enjoy it other than PANCAKES & CAKES! Woohoo! As we alllllll know ya’ll, it’s Valentines Day coming up, and no, V day is not just for couples. Single girls like pink, chocolate, and hearts too;)

I’ve recently become a LOT more active on my instagram, following lots of wannabe low carb chefs, and I suggest you do the same. This has given me soooo many ideas to share with you for the FIT girls kitchen. Be sure to follow me on instagram, and check out some of the friends I follow for up to date low carb healthy treats!
Ok , so, listen,… I know that nothing will ever quite taste like your your mother’s original pancake recipe, but….guess what, when your trying to lean out, diet is key, so, this is the healthiest version, and it’s PINK;)

I made a stack of these babies yesterday morning, and couldn’t finish them. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, I’m guessing. They were delicious! ( I didn’t want them to end, but this batch is good for 2 peeps)
Oh, and they obviously don’t have to be pink:) just thought I’d throw a little lovvvvvvvveeee your way!

Before we get into the recipe, let me just give you a little side note, that is very important.

OK, now, you may begin;)

For pancake:

1/2 packet of About Time strawberry whey protein

5 egg white

1 tbsp coconut flour ( whole foods or online)

1/2 tbsp psyllium husks (whole foods) (ground)

1/4 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp 0% Greek yogurt

A drop of red food coloring

For filling:

3/4 cup 0% Greek yogurt ( I used fage) ( you could just use the whole container, up to u)

1 tbsp Natures Hollow sugar free honey ( sweetened with xylitol, whole foods or online. Great to have in pantry)

1/4 tsp vanilla extract

3 drops stevia

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. ( mix well, I use a fork)
Add wet ingredients, and combine well. Coconut flour has a tendency to clump up.
In a greased pan, add 2 tablespoons of batter, and form a small/ medium pancake. ( if you make it too think, it will be hard to flip) Remember: They cook fast so flip quick.
Should make 3 pancakes.

Top with yogurt mixture, sugar free honey, walnuts, raspberries or strawberries, and sprinkled with unsweetened coconut.

So freakin cute right. Again, please don’t let these ingredient lists intimidate you, you can find all of these things at whole foods. I sometimes order in bulk off amazon, cuz I’m always in the kitchen. Remember from the video….these a essential in a low carb FIT household:)

So now..we’re gettin into nighttime…you’ve just had an amazing, healthy meal, with your man….orrrrrr, with your T.V. ;)
Whatever the case, all that’s on your mind now is SWEETS. Well, at least thats what us girls are thinkin about…guys, not so much. lol. It’s time for dessert!
This shit’s the bomb, EXPLOSIVE!
I found this ridiculous gymrat recipe from my new favorite blog!
I swear I could eat this alllllll day long.

For cake:

4 tbsp of quark, fromage blanc, or 0% Greek yogurt

2 tbsp oats

2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup of egg whites

1 tbsp of coconut flour

1/2 cup of chocolate protein powder

4 tbsp of unsweetened almond milk

2 tbsp of cocoa nibs

1/4 teasp baking soda

1/4 teasp baking powder

5-6 drops stevia

For the filling and frosting:

1 heaping scoop of pack of vanilla casein

1/2 cup of quark, fromage blanc (whole foods) or 0% greek yogurt

splash of unsweetened almond milk

Pre-heat oven to 350*
( I blended the cake ingredients in my vitamix, but now, I realized, I could’ve just had to mix well in a bowl:/)

If you don’t blend in a machine and choose the ol’ school way,
Mix all dry ingredients in a med/ lrg bowl, stir.
Add wet ingredients, and combine really well.
Grease a small pan, any shape, really.
Cook for 28 min. If center is still a bit raw, add a couple minutes, but careful to not overcook.
Transfer cake to cooling rack. Once cool ,using a sharp chef or paring knife, slice cake horizontally.

Easy peazy. Mix ingredients and stick in the fridge. ( I would make this first and stick in the fridge while the cake is cooking, so it has time to thicken and set)

Layer the cake with filling, top with your favorite fruit. In my case, raspberries:)
Sprinkle with cacao powder and red sprinkles!

Well, you know what day it is!! It’s WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY.
I hope you guys found yesterday’s get fit post helpful and informative to start your new healthy lifestyle!

Last night’s ZUMBA class was on fire! I burned 600 calories, and of course when I got out, all I could think about, was how I had nothing left in fridge for my weekly meal plan! You know how they say, never go grocery shopping hungry…. Well, I raided Trader Joes like an animal. I didn’t really eat dinner before class, so my tummy was rummmmmbling. I even broke open a pack of walnuts as I was shopping around, cuz I just couldn’t take it anymore! Lol

I recently decided to incorporate Casein Protein into my diet, and have been playing around with different ways to enjoy it. Actually, a lot of the ideas I’ve found, have been on Instagram. It’s amazing what kind of inspiration you can find on that thing!

Casein provides a sustained slow release of amino acids into the blood stream, sometimes lasting for several hours. (While you sleep 7-8 hrs) This provides better nitrogen retention and use by the body.Because of its slow digesting properties, casein is widely used between meals and before bed to help bodybuilders maintain muscle in an anabolic state

So this was my dinner/dessert;)

1 scoop Banana smoothie Casein

1 tbsp unflavored gelatin ( to add thickness)

1/2-1 cup hot almond milk (depending n how thick you want it )

1 tbsp pb2

Blend together, and stick it in the fridge. In an hour or two, check it. It should be thick.
This is soooo delicious, and was exactly what my body needed after my workout, before bed.

Here’s the stocked up fridge after $100. Trader joes is my Jam! I got soooooo much clean food for just $100, that’s what’s up! The best part is, it will last me all week.

Tulips mean SPRING is coming! Picked these up at Trader Joe’s for $4.99!
I absolutely love fresh flowers in my house, like, at all times.

Ok, enough with last night ;)

This morning’s breakfast was, again, inspired by Instagram. A microwave chocolate banana protein cake. Susanna Backman ( a trainer/nutritional coach) @tastyhealth has got amazing low carb, high protein ideas for every meal. You gotta follow her, and tell her From Fries To Fit is gushing about her ;)

This was a dream. I mean… Cake for dinner!? Yes, I think so y’all.
Listen carefully though, this cake is super easy, but also easy to OVERCOOK.

In chocolate bowl:

1/2 a scoop chocolate About Time Whey
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp coconut flour
1/8-1/4 cup water
1 tbsp 0% Greek yogurt
Optional: add a couple drops of stevia if you like it a bit sweeter

In banana bowl:

1/2 scoop banana About Time Whey
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp coconut flour
1/8-1/4 cup water
1tbsp 0% greek yogurt

1 tbsp raw almond butter
Drizzle Natures Hollow sugar free honey
Cacao nibs

Add dry ingredients first to both bowls, mix each well, then, add wet ingredients to each bowl. Once combined, add chocolate mix into banana mix, and use a knife to give a swirl effect.
Pop in the microwave for 30 seconds. Check it at this point, as this lil puppy over cooks super fast. Add 20-30 more seconds. It should be rising at this point. Remove, plate, and top with almond butter, honey and cacao nibs.

I didn’t have to work till ten today, so I managed to get some meal prepping done for the week.
Honestly, I don’t wanna hear that you ” just, don’t have the time” cuzzzzzzz you do. I managed to prep 4 full meals in 20 mins! It can be done people.

Lean turkey patties with only 8 grams of fat, 0 carbs, and 18 grams of protein

Cooked in a 1 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil.

Seasoned with garlic powder, 21 salute seasoning, salt & pepper.

As those were on the skillet, I pre heated the oven to 350 degrees, tossed a bag of broccoli with a pinch of olive oil, lots of lemon, and seasonings, and threw it in there to cook for 18 minutes.

While in the oven, I took advantage of the open burners, and hard boiled eggs in one, and sautéed collard greens with leeks, onions, garlic in the other.

All under 20 minutes. I love clean eating… Seriously, it’s easy to eat healthy:)

I put one patty, a side of broccoli, and sautéed greens topped with fat free feta in each Tupperware.
2 hard boiled eggs
1/2 cup blueberries
A 100 calorie pack of almonds.
A handful of cut up cucumbers with lemon and seasoning.

Oh, and, I almost forgot…I don’t eat lunch without my live salsa. Pretty much fermented veggies. Sounds gross, but it’s the bomb! Full of enzymes and probiotics.

Tonight’s DINNER:

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhweeeeee! Holy protein dinner of champions. Essentially, a sweet egg crepe. I know, so happy right now. I posted this on my Instagram, and it was a hit! I had it for breakfast the other day, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the next time this heavenly treat would once again meet my lips! Sooooo, tonight it is ;) This girl’s gone WILD over here. What’s up with me lately, I swear, it’s allllll about sweet dinners. Oh well, as long as its healthy right?

Ok, this is so simple, and delicious.

The wrap:

1 egg

5 egg whites

A pinch of Cinnamon

3 drops stevia

The filling:

1 tbsp low fat cottage cheese

1 tbsp Raw almond butter

1/2 a cut up banana

Roll it up……

Top with chopped almonds and sprinkled with unsweetened coconut flakes.

Go ahead….eat the whole thing.. That’s right, and enjoy every second of it, cuz it’s nothin’ but good for ya! I broke up the amount of nut butter with some cottage cheese in order to reduce the fat content, and add a bit of a softer texture.
What do u think? I think you should eat this tomorrow morning…. It’s really amazing how this is actually in your diet plan. Tastes so naughty!

Vanilla Casein “Panna Cotta”

Same recipe as last nights dessert, except this time with vanilla flavored casein. I couldn’t wait for it to thicken up in the fridge, so I put it In the freezer for 10 minutes, or until panna cotta consistency. This is by far, my favorite meal of the day… My ” before bed” treat. My muscles will be happy;)

On a fitness note:

I managed to pull out a quick core exercise with my Lebert equalizer.

Really, it’s more of a full body workout because you are using more than just your core to hold yourself up the whole time.

** trust me….you will hate me after this. If you don’t own these bars, it’s fine, duh. You can use 2 chairs! ;)

So far, I’m on track with my weekly workout schedule. I’m wearing my polar watch to keep track of my calories burned, and I’m planning my meals ahead of time. How are things going with you guys? Tonight’s agenda: BODYSCULPTING. 1 hour of circuit training, with bands, weights, lunging, crunching, squatting, you name it. I burned 350 right there. Stoked!

After class, me and J. FIT practiced planking on each other. Lol. Check her Facebook page out. It’s fantastic, and full of great info!

20130206-222347.jpg is FULL of newness! Lol

I got a new look y’all! What do you think? I got a fringe! Well…”bangs” as we say here in America;)
I was just really getting tired of me look, and working at a salon, you have the advantage to just act on impulse, and say ” eff it, just cut it!”
You see, I wanted a change without cutting off all my hair, so this was a perfect compromise;)
I’ve decided that 70′s fringe is back!

As you know, I just celebrated my 29th birthday. Thank u, thank u…
And in today’s look, I’m sporting prezzies from my besties!

SHORTS: elastic band faux leather hotpants by ZARA (thanks Jules)

TOP: H&M $14.99

SHOES: wedges by Mossimo for target. ( thanks Amy)

Damn….that was a long day…. Me and my fringe are done now;) let me know if you try any of the recipes! I wanna know how it works for you! Xo

In new years!, popular recipes, sweets, Uncategorized On January 2, 2013 0 Comments

THAt’S right! Cookies have never been this easy! Now that the New Year is here…it’s time to start gettin your HEALTH on! I’ve got the solution for ya’ll. You know that I’m constantly researching healthy ways to get my sweet fix in, and with this recipe, I’ve found the ULTIMATE!

Have you ever used coconut flour?

please refer to this great site to help you grow accustomed to low carb baking.

Foodie Fiasco is another great site/blog that I follow for low carb baking. I absolutely love her! All of her sweets are completely healthified.

This morning I was craving something sweet to go with my coffee, and I didn’t have much time to make anything that was too fussy, so this was perfect. I had all the ingredients anyway.

Oh, btw, have you ever made cookies in your microwave… Yeah me neither. Talk about curious. The original recipe with made with molasses, I instead opted for sugar free honey. Just preference. I also doubled the recipe so that I could have enough for a few days;)

You will now see how freakin easy this is. They are pretty dense. Really, because coconut flour sucks in lots of moisture, plus the banana. So the cookies should be made small. Trust me, they’re filling.

Alright, check it….
In a small/medium bowl…add coconut flour, salt, and stevia. Combine these ingredients well, coconut flour tends to lump up so make sure smash those little chunks right out. Once combined, add unsweetened vanilla almond milk. You could also use light unsweetened coconut milk. I like to use a fork to combine, the whisk usually sucks for me. I find that things blend better with my fork. Especially for this type if baking.

In a different bowl, (small), mash banana well, add honey, and vanilla. Mix
Add into your other flour/milk bowl. Combine all to create the batter. Then, fold in chocolate chips. In this case, I used vegan carob chips. Really, you could use any, but I would stick to the darkest, purest dark chocolate. The darker the chocolate, the more fiber, and antioxidants, the less sugar. I actually LOVE me some 100% dark cacao, I could even much on a handful of raw cacao nibs! Yummy.

Once the cookie dough I created, make little dough ball, and flatten them out to a cookie shape.

Ok, now comes the part that I was a bit skeptical about….I was actually laughing when I read how to cook them. Aright, grab a microwave safe plate.
Grease it, and place the cookies on it. Place them inside the microwave, and cook in 1 minute increments. Watching and smelling. Mine were done after the 3rd minute, maybe the 4th. Andddddd….viola!

Then, these pretty little baby’s came out. Listen, they’re not gooey, they’re not gonna be slightly browned. (Duh, they were cooked in a micro) and they’re not gonna taste like your grandmothers famous cookies, but hell, they are super yummy, dense, ridiculous healthy, like REALLY… Only 130 calories for THE WHOLE BATCH!! Get into it.

Girls and boys, if this year, your resolution is to get fit, then you have to remember, it’s not just the gym that needs to get on point, but your diet does too. They go hand and hand. This is the FIT way to eat cookies!
