Goood lordy I’ve been a bit MIA, I do apologize! Although I don’t have a recipe to share with y’all today, I DO have a fun post for you!;)
If you don’t already know, a couple of my best girlfriends live in the heart of beautiful San Francisco, and I was in dyer need of a mini vacation;)
So I arrived Friday early morning, by the way….SOOOO proud of myself for navigating my “awful sense of direction self ” though the BART system. phweeeeee! lol. Such a nervous dork….”um, excuse me sir…this way? Oh um, can you help me figure the ticket machine??” Bahahahaha wtf.

Anyway…. I made it alive and managed to walk…with my luggage…all the way from my stop, to my girlfriends house. That was my workout for the whole 4 days. Woops. ;)

Unfortunately this pic does not do this view justice. It looks gloomy out, but in reality it was sunny and high 60′s low 70′s the whole time. I am one lucky betch!

Walking through the streets, yes…with my luggage (total tourist) a dropped everything to snap a pic of some gorgeous fresh flowers. Flowers are a weakness. Obsessed. So much variety, full of color, absolutely STUNNING!

Oh, and btw…since I became a total WINO, I joined delectable which is a super fun app for wine lovers. The fun part is, that you get to share and post reviews on all the wines you enjoy with friends! Look into it, it’s really cool!

O, so this pic right here…prrrrrety much sums up all my faves at once. Well, I lied actually…that German Riesling (trader Joe’s ) not my fave…but otherwise, the view, the triple cream cheese, prosciutto, figs, and nuts…HOT DAMN! I swear I could eat that everyday. Every SINGLE FUCKIN DAY. oh…wait. I’m missing some dark chocolate. Lol

On this particular night, we decided to cook at home. Very gourmet daaaaaalinggggg.
The cheese plate was our first course…. (In France..the cheese plate would actually be more for dessert paired perhaps with dessert wine) but here in the states….gimme that shit firrrrst! ;)

These delicious crostinis were course #2.
This is such a great idea for a dinner party.. Super easy and everyone loves them.plus a great way to add variety and make some vegetarian, vegan, are carnivore! Helllllllllo.

Paired with a bottle of Sorelle Bronca Prosecco. Super crisp and clean finish, with a very slight sweetness. Yummmmmmm

Headed to Nat’s favorite local bar and met up with some friends;) by last call…we almost got into a fight with the lady who wouldn’t let us use the pool table (cuz she kept winning, bitch) lol.
Caught an Uber , and stumbled are way up the stairs to her building.

Pretty safe to say…the next morning, was a bit rough. Lol. We had planned to go to a boot camp class at 9:30 am at the local StudioMix, but we decided that walking to breakfast would be a much better workout. Hangovers justify laziness.
But hey, at least we have our workout clothes on…..

After breakfast, we walked, & WaLkEd..& WALKED! Up and down loadz of hills, of course feeling better after some food. Nat took me allllll over the city. No joke. We were feelin grrrrreat! So, it’s 5 o’clock somewhererreeee! Maybe it was time to try out some local brewskis! Lol

We stopped at Magnolia to try a super delicious Kalifornia Kölsch hand crafted and local beer. Not quite a shot glass, but not quite a pint. Just right.

Oh yes, and the San Francisco FOOD TOUR continues…..
We HADto hit up TARTINE of course. This was our lunch spot. TARTINE is one of SF’s most well known restaurants. Mostly famous for this ridiculous bread pudding. Omgggggg. Gimme gimme moreeeee.
Here’s the problem…you walk up…you order…they hand you the dessert first, since it’s already prepared. Then, you go sit down with your number and wait for your actual lunch.
Well…..in the next shot you will see what we ordered. But in the meantime, let’s talk about HOW THE FUCK YOU’RE GONNA MAKE ME STARE AT MY DESSERT WHILE STARVING WITH NO LUNCH IN FRONT OF ME!!!

SO……we ate dessert before lunch. Bahahahahahaha.
We of course ordered the bread pudding, and I just HAD to try the lemon bar. I LOVE anything lemon. I had to.
So we both sat…moaned and ga-ga’d..(call it an orgasm) and devoured that shit. Wowowowowowow. It was so worth it, and people were staring. Then you see it…now you don’t.

Lunch is served…. Holy grail of GRILLED CHEESE! The “cheese tasting” sandwich. 3 different melted cheeses inside a perfectly pressed and crusty panini. Served with a delicious pickled carrot, and a green salad. This is where I gained pound 5.

We continued to walk and attempt to digest. This is what I appreciate most about this city. People are out..people walk everywhere..the art. Omg the STREET ART is just…OUT OF THIS WORLD. everywhere you look, vibrant splashes of color on the walls. Like real artists…not just all that gross tagging with sharpie shit you see all over LA.

Well. That was my idea of a fuckin vacation! I ate and drank through the damn city like a champ. Thank you to my beautiful friends who showed me such a wonderful time! Love u.

Alright y’all. I’ve been home now 4 days, and wanted to wait to post this so that I could review this 3 day cleanse by Juice Crafters. First…I chose juice crafters cuz they were close to my house, but a lot of the cold pressed juice pleases have a cleanse of their own in which I’m sure, serve the same purpose and give similar results.
So here’s the deal. I was soooo ready for this. I’ve never been sooo excited to NOT eat, in my life. I needed to shrink that tummy back up. I’ve never been a “juice cleanse” type person, but I was ready to try something new.

It felt like a breeze! I felt amazing and light as a feather! I really thought I would be a shaky crabby bitch on this but frankly, I was never really hungry. Lol. Consuming 8 of these is actually very filling and a bit of a task to get them down every 2 hrs. They were DELICIOUS, but I mean…I wasn’t like, pounding them, you know?! So by the time I would finish one, it was time for another;) perf!

In fact, it went so well, that I added a 4th day! I know!
The only thing about this. Type of cleansing….I was always cold!! Lol
Oh, and I couldn’t do any strength training at the gym. Just did light cardio and walked a lot. Fine with me, I felt like a skinny bitch!

Today is my first day eating actual food.
I’m taking it slow and incorporating fresh fruits, veggies, avocado, a sweet potato, and 1 juice for today.
I’m really thinking about trying to become more PLANTPOWER lady. Lol. Time to cut out a lot of animal products. Maybe a figure out FINALLY what makes me so bloated. Perhaps dairy? Hmmm. This is gonna be an experiment.

CHOCOLATE PROTEIN PANCAKES! And lots to be grateful for….

Happppppyyy MONDAY!! This weekend has been awesome! As promised, let’s start with this ridiculous stack of CHOCOLATE PROTEIN PANCAKES! they are not only super moist, (ew..I hate that word) they are the perfect texture and taste DELICIOUS!
I am a huge activist of pancakes on the weekends, lol. I mean, not “real” pancakes…lol….I mean, MY pancakes;)
I promise…you can eat them WITHOUT all the bad carbs, fat, and sugar. It’s allllll about the substitutions. This recipe calls for very few ingredients. Some may look a little unfamiliar to you, such as…”psyllium husks or “coconut flour but these products should make an appearance in all of your baking pantries! These are essentials to keeping a healthy “LOW GLYCEMIC” and “LOW CARB” kitchen. Don’t get allll obsessed with the words, low carb, I just mean “BETTER CARBS” ;)

Chocolate Protein Pancakes
Prep time: 
Cook time: 
Total time: 
Serves: 2
Ingredients
  • 1½-2 scoops chocolate whey protein ( I used Cellucor Molten Chocolate)
  • 2 tbsp Psyllium Husks
  • 1 tbsp Coconut Flour
  • ½ cup steamed mushy cauliflower ;)
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup egg whites. ( I used carton egg whites)
Instructions
  1. Use a NON STICK PAN. I LOVVVE Scanpan! on MED. heat.
  2. To grease pan, I used Natural coconut oil spray. (Found at Trader Joe’s)
  3. ***Just a little spritz per pancake***
  4. First mix all dry ingredients and slowly add in all wet, including steamed soft cauliflower. Beat or mix very well.
  5. Spoon in your batter as to not make too big of pancakes.
Nutrition Information
Serving size: 3 pancakes Calories: 280 Fat: 7 Carbohydrates: 2 Sugar: 2 Protein: 38

Now….this recipe or “stack” is considered 2 servings.
For 3 pancakes..280 cals, fat 7, carbs 2, protein 38.

#2 reason what this weekend was fab….I have been KILLIN it at the gimnasio¡!!
I have been adding in more cardio intervals. Some “Fasted“, some not, but I have been really noticing a huge difference in my body. I fuckin hate cardio. But seriously. I DO. Just pick a machine and make that heart rate jump up, then come down. Best way to burn fat in short period of time. Interval training!!!! I promise…it’s worth it!

Happy hump day beauties!!!! Today’s post is short but sweet:) I’ve got a really SUPER DUPER EASY recipe for a pre-workout 90 calorie snack idea! for me, because I tend to workout so early in the morning, I consider this 1/2 of my breakfast. I brake up my breakfast into pre-workout & post-workout.

For example what I did this morning.

FASTED CARDIO WITH CELLUCOR HD powder.

1 1/2 BANANA PROTEIN COOKIES BEFORE WEIGHT TRAINING (killed shoulders and abs)

POST WORKOUT : 6 EGG WHITES.

This is the perfect balance or carbs for energy before lifting and protein post training.

Banana Nut protein cookies
 
Prep time

Serves: 9

Ingredients
  • 2 very ripe mashed bananas (I thawed previously frozen ones)
  • 1½ cup quick cooking oats or traditional. (either is fine)
  • 2 scoops protein powder. (I used 1 scoop of About Time Banana Creme, and 1 scoop of Isopure 0-carb Vanilla)
  • (optional: A small handful chopped walnuts and raisins)

Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix rolled oats and protein powder well.
  3. Mash your two bananas, and add to dry mix. Mixing and mashing very well.
  4. Optional: Fold in chopped walnuts or raisins. (this will increase macros a slight bit per serving. Fat and sugar content)

Notes
90 calories per cookie WITHOUT walnuts or raisins. This is a great pre-workout snack! Remember…Carbs are good, we use them for energy before a killer workout. Protein AFTER;)

Serving size: 1 Calories: 90 Fat: 1 Carbohydrates: 17 Protein: 7

The only problem with these….it’s hard to just have one!!!!!! Lol.

I am a huge believer in MORNING FITNESS! This silly selfie, like allll my gym selfies, are taken between 5 AM- 7 AM. YEP. I’ve always preached it. The best part about early morning workouts, your body still practically has no idea what the fuck is going on, so you could pretty much trick it into doing anything! lol. The second best thing, is that, you realllly set the tone for the rest of your day. When you start your day on the right foot, on the “fit” foot, you are less likely to binge throughout the day.

A look back at the holiday….

Hey y’all!!!! I am so embarrassed that I have absolutely neglected my duty as a blogger:( I have fallen off the map! Not that it’s an excuse….but life has been cray cray. I didn’t just neglect my blog, I also neglected to stay on my regimen of a healthy diet and exercise . I was on such a roll, I swear! It makes me soooo mad. And, although everyone just keeps saying, “whatever, it’s the holidays!” It’s still no excuse to totally throw everything you work so hard for throughout the year, out da windowwwwww! Anyway. That’s my sob story. I won’t tell you how much weight I’ve gained, cuz it doesn’t matter. Lol.
Anyway… Even though I have fallen off my plan for a couple months.. It’s time to pick myself up, and start fresh. Cliche? Maybe. But… I love beginnings;) I’ve got some very cool posts coming up and some changes to the site for the new year!

I hosted the family in my lil North Pole for a fun holiday pizza making party! If you remember my last post….. (Photos of the decorations) I went a little Christmas crazy. Ugh, I love that shit. As you all know, in August, I left my salon Vidal Sassoon, to continue my career at Román Salon. I spent many years with these people and they became a part of my extended family. I was lucky enough to join them as a guest at the annual holiday party. This year’s theme was “White Winter Wonderland” this dinner was fantastic! It was a black tie affair darling. ;)

Christmas Eve was mellow. Just what I wanted. It was just my folks, my cuz, and I. Unfortunately, my brother and his girlfriend weren’t able to get here from Vancouver:( but we made the best of it, and skyped while opening presents at midnight:)
Dinner was healthy and delicious. Roasted chicken and veggies, and garlic bread. That’s right. I ate that shit up!
Christmas Day was also a beautiful sunny day, so Marcin and I spent the day at the beach:)
Marcin is polish, and I was lucky enough to have my first traditional Polish Christmas dinner.

Every time I would make this broccoli bread, the consistency would remind me of a yummy, squishy piece of pound cake. Ok, squishy mayyyyyy not be the best term. Hmmm, more like soufflé -yyyy, but dense like a pound cake.
Anyway…blah blah….on this morning, my sweet tooth had kicked into overdrive, and I needed something…like, QUICK!

Glancing at her Broccoli Protein Bread recipe, I pondered while my stomach screamed for sweetness. I thought…ok..sub broccoli for cauliflower (milder flavor)…then, sub unflavored whey for vanilla whey….OMGGGGGGGG. ummm, hi NEW FAVE SHIT!
I gotta tell ya’ it’s seriously bomb.com. I’ve been having a portion every morning topped with a little ghee and sugar free honey. This honestly couldn’t be a better way to enjoy your protein powder. I’m sure I’m not the only one who gets sick of shakes, right!?20130807-165055.jpg

 

 

Vanilla Protein Pound Cake
 
OMMMGGGGG!!! amazing…and completely guit-free!
Author:
Serves: 4

Ingredients
  • ½ cup steamed cauliflower
  • ½ cup egg whites (I used organic egg whites from Trader Joe’s)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup vanilla Protein powder. ( I used About Time Vanilla protein)
  • 4 drops stevia
  • 1 tsp Vanilla bean extract
  • pinch of salt
  • pinch of cinnamon

Instructions
  1. Steam ½ cup of cauliflower.
  2. Heat oven to 325 degrees and grease a small loaf pan.
  3. In a medium bowl add all ingredients including steamed cauliflower, and mix with either a handmixer or throw it all in a blender.
  4. Bake for 30-40 min depending on oven. should be slightly browned on top and a bit firm to touch.

Serving size: 2-3 sm. slices Calories: 178 Fat: 2 Carbohydrates: 2 Sugar: 0 Protein: 37

Now….a couple of notes. Although a very easy recipe to assemble, please be aware of the size of pan in conjunction with the cooking time. I used a loaf pan, (not the standard one) if you do use a standard size one, lower baking time.

The best part about this recipe….for 1 serving (3 small slices) there is a whopping 37 grams of protein!!!!!! WTF! To keep sugar and carbs low..choose this brand.I made sure to calculate accurately through My Fitness Pal. Un—believable! Check out the rest of the nutrition facts in the above printable recipe.

Eggplant is my JAM! I usually grill it, roast it, even dehydrate it sometimes creating a raw eggplant jerky, but for some reason…have never tried making baba ganoush.. UNTIL NOW!!!! Don’t ask why the hell I haven’t made it yet, cuz I order it every time when at a Greek or Mediterranean restaurant. It’s smooth and soooo yummy. Even people who aren’t such eggplant fans tend to eat this shit up!
Because of the roasting…the eggplant becomes soft, almost caramelized. It’s divine.

This recipe has totally lasted me. The serving is 3 tbsp for 90 calories! amazeballz. I’ve been putting on top of flax crackers, salads, chicken, along side my roasted veggies… You name it! It’s very mild and creamy and I know you will swoon over this recipe!

Homemade Babaganoush
 
Make your own, and save yourself from all the added fat and preservatives!
Author:
Recipe type: Mediterranean

Ingredients
  • 2 med. eggplants (roasted)
  • 1 tbsp tahini
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 2-3 minced garlic cloves
  • ¾ tsp sea salt (can always add more for taste)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped parsley
  • pinch of paprika (optional)

Instructions
  1. slice eggplants in half. Place cut side up on a baking/roasting pan or sheet.
  2. pierce several times with fork.
  3. Roast at 400 degrees for 40-45 mins.
  4. Once cooked, let sit to cool.
  5. Spoon out meat, and toss the skin.
  6. Place roasted eggplant, along with all other ingredients into a Vitamix or food processor and pulse or blent until desired consistency is met. Smooth is ideal.

First up…
My first time buying sushi grade wild salmon. Holy mother of pearl!!!!! Why haven’t I EVER done this!? I bought a huge slab and have been goooogoooo gaga-ing for 3 days straight! I’ve now stuck the other piece in the freezer to grill later. For some reason, while at the Sunday market, I always would just pass by the fish guy, and pay not an ounce of attention. On this day, I was alllllll about it. Maybe it’s because my red meat eating days are pretty much behind me for the most part.

Just look at er!!! She’s perfect! Juicy and ripe! That’s right. This is my ultimate. I could eat 5 in a row. They are the tastiest crop right now. The MANGO NECTARINE. I’ve even been throwing them in my morning juices and it makes my life complete!!!

A week of true vacation! MIAMI & NAPA.

Alright babes! It’s been wayyyyyy too long! I’ve been gone now for just over a week, I feel like I’ve been on the NON-STOP CRAZY TRAIN! A girls gotta have her vacation time, right!? Well, I promise I haven’t neglected you! I’ve been enjoying, decompressing, and gathering pics to share with y’all!

FIRST UP….MIAMI!!!!

I spent a fabulous 4 days in gorgeous Miami beach FL. with my favorite people. My family:) I left last Saturday to meet up with my folks, who had been staying at my godfathers new place at the Trump Towers. Yowwwwwzzzzzz, it is stunning. I mean……. Ridiculous. W were just a little bit north of south beach, which I actually that was better. You aren’t caught up in the crazy mess all the time.
The beaches here are like no other! Crystal blue, warm, clean, and full of fun little sandbars. Heaven, seriously. You all know…I am a total brown doggy, and lovvvveeeee the sun and ocean, so I was in fullllllll! We love miami, cuz it’s got such a Latin culture attached to it. Argentinians everywhere (my peeps) everyone is tan and wearing the hottest bikinis, the guys are super fit, the seafood is excellent, and it truly has a very traditional sense of family as well. Maybe it’s the Latin thing. Whatever it is, we freakin love it here. In fact, I’m currently trying to get my folks to retire here!!!;)

A plus to the heat… You don’t want to way anything hot, heavy or fattening. All I wanted, was fruit, salads, and fresh cold pressed juices. My first day there, I grabbed the rental, and headed to a friends juice bar in South Beach. Well. I’ve gone JUGO NUTTZO.

Jugo Fresh is a local spot serves an amazing product. Amazing raw, fresh juices and foods. It’s reputation with the locals has skyrocketed and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it!

I got enough juices to last me 4 days. I wasn’t planning on juice cleansing while in Miami, but I knew my body just wanted this freshness, at least 2x a day. I love incorporating cold pressed juices in my everyday diet. Keeps me regular, hydrated, and full of nutrients while naturally detoxifying. That green juice above, was my FAVORITE! so delicious. if ever in Miami…pleaseeeeeee check it out! Jugo Fresh has something for everyone.

I made sure to fit in a workout every morning while at the Trump. I gotta tell ya.. This gym was SICK! Best part was…I was practically the only person in there every morning. “Thank you… I love having the gym to myself, byeeeeee.”

I spent 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours there quite early doing a combo of cardio and GPP workouts. Super killer. I guess it does help having that beautiful beach view while working out. Lol. ;)

This is how I did my hair every day and night we went out. A JLo bun. That’s right. My hair is a frizzy ass mess in this weather, and frankly, it’s too damn hot to wear it down. I’m kinda feelin’ it. Thoughts? I used one of those spongy circular things to make the bun look bigger and like I had more hair than I actually do. Hehe. Y’all need one. Buy on that matches your hair color. They are the bomb!

Here’s the Miami gang. This trip was FANTASTIC! it felt so great just to lay out, be with fam, and have no set plans. I’m rooting for this place, for my parents retirement. I know it’s not for another 10 years, but a girl can dream;) special thanks to my godparents;)

This was the venue. Probably the greatest place ever! Farmstead restaurant at Long Meadow Ranch. This place was nothing short of perfect. They not only had their vineyard, but also a farmers market, olive oil tasting, an organic farm attached, a gorgeous farm to table restaurant, etc, etc. wow.

The wedding was fairly small. About 80 guests made their way to St. Helena to celebrate the nuptials of Chris and Brooke. We all pretty much booked our stays through Air bnb. If you haven’t yet heard of air bnb, you need to get it together. It’s the best application for phone or iPad that helps you find rentals through private owners for a getaway. It’s amazing.
If you’ve never made your way to the wine country, and are planning on it….be aware! Hotels are really expensive! For $250 a night…you’re in a motel. yeah, I know. It was my first time there. I was shocked. Lol
Anyway, searching through the listings of private rentals, we came across this little gem:) a cute little cottage less than 1/2 a mile from the venue.

We just barely made it to the rehearsal lunch on Friday afternoon after a super long day of travel. Thank god we made it, cuz that food was unbelievable. You could immediately tell, that Brooke & Chris’ main objective for this party was to feed people food and wine they would never forget!
Delicious!!!! All of it! I took a pic of the menu, but it’s on my other camera. (Ugh. Yeah, remember..the one that won’t let me download them on the computer!)
It just kept getting better. I practically ate myself dumb on the actual wedding day! I had 4 days of super fit and clean eating in Miami, then I come to Napa, and lose my shit! Lol. How could anyone pass up homemade Mac and cheese, cheddar biscuits, pulled pork sandwiches…rib eye… The list just keeps going… Ummmmm. Oh and, I only went for a quick hungover run on Saturday morning, other than that, no workouts on this trip. ( juice cleansing as I write this) lol. Did I meant ion…I blacked out Friday night. Rare form. Goooood lord.

Hello babies!!! Hope everyone had a RAD Mother’s Day weekend! First day back in the salon today, and I’m feeling refreshed and ready for a super busy week!

Tuesday: A.M 40 min cardio…ZUMBA tonight…not teaching, but taking.

Wednesday: ZUMBA 10:30 am-11:30am.
Lunch date with an Amiga, then friend’s birthday celebrations.
Dinner meeting with a client.

Thursday: Salon all day.
Evening: Blogger Beauty event at Roman Salon.
8:00 pm ZUMBA teach class

Friday:
Fly to Salt Lake City Utah at 7:00 AM for the Blend Retreat. not back till Sunday night. I am soooooo EXCITED about this weekend away with my fellow FIT bloggers! I can’t wait to meet all of these amazing chickies that I’ve gotten to know through all sorts of social media, finally, in person;) you know who ya are!;) This weekend, is not only filled with fun outdoor activities, but also a great source for networking, ideas, and getting to know each other better. Maybe one of my favorite days of the week… I started off having a wonderful mbreakfast outdoors at Aroma tea and coffee, located in quaint Tujunga village, Studio City. To my honestly, there is nothing better than having a really great meal while sitting outside. I take people watching verrrrrrry seriously.

The menu is VAST, I opted for the lighter fare. I wanted everything that damn place had to offer, an AMAZING clean menu. I went for a powerhouse breakfast that consisted of…tender charbroiled chicken breast, fluffy egg whites, with a side of 9 grain toast, and freaks fruit. It was heaven on a platttttttta!

Enjoyed an iced coffee with unsweetened almond milk, and a bit of stevia. Most restaurants only have Splenda as an alternative, but yes, I DO carry around a lil dropper bottle of stevia with me…in my purse…everywhere that I go. Don’t judge. I ate that breakfast like it was my J.O.B. I put in werrrrk. Yum-MY!
Oh, and please do excuse my tired eyes, apparently didn’t realized I was gonna be in the “food” shot. Lol.

Ended up at Malibu State Park for a late morning hike. It was a stunning view, although, I didn’t expect it to be that dry out. I still think we went the wrong way. Someone told me I should have seen a creek and swim hole…yeah, never once saw a drop of water, and Diego’s paws were getting RAW from the heat. Last thing on earth you want happening…. A bulldog overheating. Probably a bad idea seeing that it was 105 degrees out. Dumbass.com.

Poor baby was seeking shelter under trees for signs of shade. After 15 min we turned around, and said ” I think it’s time for the beach.”

Headed north on the PCH, looking for a signs of “dog beach”, which technically…there are none. S annoying. We ended up at Leo Carrillo. Apparently, the further north you travel up the coast, the more lenient on dogs being allowed onto the sand. Who knew….
I wish willy could’ve been there, but he stayed at my parents house, cuz I knew I was leaving outta town, and wouldn’t have been able to drop him off any other day. ( they don’t live around the corner, you see..) SADFACE. He would have loved it. I OWE him:)
It was a bit windy, but sunny and perfect. The waves, super cute in size. Actually we were able to catch some kids RIPPING! love watching surfers.

9 hrs in the same freakin room. Thank god I brought lunch and snacks. The whole experience was super fun! Yes it was long, but actually enjoyable. Mostly dance, and some PowerPoint.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with ZUMBA, and the bright colors all the ZUMBA folk wear, right?
Well, I never thought I would be “that” instructor… ( I’m usually in black or grey) but, I gotta tell ya, I lost my ZUMBA shit in there! Lol. I came home with purple and teal pants, fluorescent sports bras, bright orange headband, weird “party time”bracelets… I got home and literally started laughing out loud at myself. I’m kindaaaaa feelin’ it though. ;)

Ok, so some of you may have already seen this pic if you follow me on instagram, but I just had to share…. I am sooooo damn sick of turkey it’s ridiculous. The other day I roasted a 12 lb turkey at 5:00 am. ( no bigs, just what I do) as part of my week meal prep. Well, after 30 minutes of carving the freakin’ thing, I thought to myself.. ” hmmmm, maybe 12 lbs was a bit big” NOOOOOOOO, really???? I have been eating turkey for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for like 4 days, and I wanna scream. It’s really delicious….but seriously c’mon.

1/2 tsp pure vanilla powder

Better late that never, eh!? Hope everyone enjoyed a beautiful, sunny in LA, weekend!;) I certainly did. If you don’t know me by now, my “after weekend” posts usually include a sunday fam BBQ day, and what kind of person would I be, of I didn’t post every one of those special Sunday’s pics. To most of you, they look the same as every past Sunday’s, but to me, it’s about catching up, enjoying my folks, their backyard, the dogs running around like psychos, mom and I spending too much money bargain shopping, trying to convince dad to build me something ” rustic, yet contemporary” ( I need a new desk) LOL, oh and the best part…. Stuffing my face with red meat, chorizo, and blood sausage. It’s my once a week VICE.

Here are some highlights;)
New favorite POWER protein Breakfast:
1/2 cup egg whites
1/2 mashed ripe banana
A few drops vanilla extract
1 tbsp raw nut butter
1 tsp flax meal or flax seeds
1 tsp unsweetened shredded coconut.

Best damn kale chips around y’all. Brad’s RAW Foods offers kale chips that are packed with the best flavor. I’ve tried loads of different brands and these by far are the crunchiest, and healthiest:)

Btw, sorry I’ve been neglecting fitness pics, but…thing is, I’ve been so focused on my ZUMBA training, that I haven’t really had the time to do any other kind of workout lately. I get certified this week!!! ahhhhhh So I thought I’d let you know….I’ve been doing ZUMBA 4 days a wk. oh, and in between, practicing at home or with my headphones at work in while dancing like a freak in the staff room. Yes, I am the only one hearing the music, so everyone’s like WTF is she doing. Lol.

Anyway, now that I’ve confessed the fact that I haven’t been at the actual GYM, we can move forward with this post of mostly food;) hehe.

Sunday BBQ prep. Salad with cilantro, green onions, tomatoes, lemon, red wine vinegar, olive oil, and oregano.

Have you ever gone to M Cafe???
Well, if you haven’t had the pleasure yet, I highly recommend it. Granted, there are some things, I’m not such a big fan of, but there is one dish in particular that I’ve completely fallen head over heels in love with. M cafe caters to a healthy macrobiotic diet/lifestyle. Read more about macrobiotic here. I searched high and low to bring you the best version of M cafe’s KALE SALAD WITH SPICY PEANUT DRESSING.
his is huge news….. You’re gonna freak out, and yes, you will thank me. Kale can sometimes get a bit boring, so this recipe really spruces up your relationship with it.

The original recipe calls for regular ol’ natural peanut butter, but I thought I’d switch it out for a less fattening option….my trusted PB2 will do just perfect. ( scroll to the right, click on specialty foods, and scroll through the pages, you will find pb2 on my amazon faves!)

I’ve attached a print- friendly recipe for you to grab. I made this so quick, oh, and I ate it just as quickly;) it’s super easy!
1. Blanch the kale
2. Sautée shallots, onion, garlic
3. Make your spicy peanut dressing.
4. Combine, garnish, and serve;)

“M Cafe” Kale Salad with Spicy Peanut Dressing
 
Obsessing over M CAFE’s Kale salad…..naturally….I HAD to make it! Delicious, with a kick, and outrageously healthy;)
Ingredients
  • 1 large bunch kale (about 3-4 cups)
  • ¼ red onion, sliced very thin
  • 1 shallot
  • ½ tsp high heat oil. (I used safflower oil)
  • Spicy Peanut Dressing
  • ½ cup PB2 (1/2 cup when mixed with water) Or natural peanut butter, but will raise the fat content
  • 1 Tbsp Nature’s Hollow honey
 (sugar free)
  • 2 Tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp brown rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp. garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp. ginger, minced
  • ¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
  • ⅛ tsp. salt
  • 1 ½ oz hot water

Instructions
  1. 1. Remove the kale from the stems. 
Add a pinch of Salt to a pot of boiling water, then blanch the Kale for 3 min. 
Remove the Kale from the boiling water and shock it in a container of ice water. 
Finally, squeeze the excess water out of the cooled Kale.
  2. Sautee onions and shallots with a bit of salt and pepper and ½ tsp oil until softened. Set aside.
  3. Spicy Peanut Dressing: Place all dressing ingredients into a blender. Blend until mixture turns into a smooth consistency.
  4. Drizzle the dressing on top of the Kale and onions, and mix the kale and dressing together until kale is evenly coated. Garnish chopped peanuts.
  5. *Makes enough to dress 2 large bunches of kale. Stores well refrigerated for up to 6 weeks.

Notes
Note: I used PB2 to cut down on the fat, but you can certainly use all natural peanut butter.

Remember, as of APRIL 1, I will finally have Wednesdays off from the salon to focus on my blogging and ZUMBA, woooohooooooo! I feel like so much has happened since the last we spoke!

Let’s start with my bridal shower meeting on Sunday with the girls. No, not my bridal shower, (puleeeaaazeee) my bestie Brooke’s. Remember……San Fran weekend????? Lol.
Alicia hosted a fabulous brunch at her house in which she served homemade yummy fajitas, with low carb tortillas ( love her), fresh fruit salad ( bananas, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries)

Today is officially the first day of SPRING, and I am on it like white on rice! Stopped at the farmers market this weekend and picked up some beautiful fresh flowers to brighten up the house. I am feeling spring, FOR SURE, except that…for some reason….I’m in all black today. Hmmmm. Weird.

So, as you all know, I’m gearing up to teach Zumba, so this weekend was full of practicing. Writing down the routine helps immensely… One DVD after another…

Not as much as dancing the routine in front of the mirror though!! I would catch up on some bills, and blogging, then jump into a routine while yelling out Q’s. Lord bless my neighbors. Loud Latin music, yelling, and stomping. Keeping it classy.

Later that day, I joined the Sandy Campy Fitness team for a meeting about the new upcoming schedule. I will be teaching Wednesday mornings at 10:30 am, and Thursday nights at 8:00pm. We had loads of fun, ate delicious pot stickers and a raw kale salad. Oh, I forgot…..and BOMB ASS chocolate mousse cake. Yummmmmmmmmm. Sandy is so sweet. Before we left, she gave each one of us a cute little heart shaped gem stone on a chain. Along with the stone, we also got a list of different gems and what each color stands for. Love my new team:)

My most exciting purchase this weekend! I’ve been looking for the perfect Popsicle molds and hallelujah!!! I have found them! I stopped into Crate & Barrel and of course, wanted to buy everything…and saw these from the corner of my eye. The best part was, they were 13 bucks for 6 molds! Please do follow one of my favorite instagram friends who inspired me to start making protein pops. FITALICIOUS_ME. Time for summer…and ice cream;)

Hey everyone! Hope you guys had a super fun weekend! We are back to eating right and working out right!???ok, so on this subject…. I’ve been getting a lot of feedback from you guys in regards to making the transition to a low carb/FIT lifestyle. I love hearing rom you guys because, remember….you inspire me too! So, this post is dedicated to you, in order to help make your transition smooth and worth it. I promise the hardest part, is getting started. Once you start seeing results, you’ll be hooked.

Now… I have to say to you that, everything I share with you, are facts that have worked for me, and anyone who has tried this regimen. I am not a nutritionist and I am not a certified personal trainer but, c’mon guys… It ain’t rocket science. The thing is…we all know how to really gain results.

Number 1: You burn off more than you’re taking in.

Number 2:We supplement our bodies with whole food and non processed foods.


Number 3: we follow the 80/20 rule. ( 80 % clean 20% treats)


Number 4: we get our heart rates up for at least 1 hour. 5x a wk. ( that’s right, if you can carry a conversation, you’re not working hard enough)

Lets start your new FIT life with some motivation. Listen, I’m not gonna be there every morning in your ear, telling you to WAKE THE F*%k UP! you must be the one to make your fitness and health a priority. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, it is your body, you need to become your own motivator, your own trainer. Think like one, and you will see results. ABSOLUTELY.
Remove the negativity, the ” I cants, or the I’m just sooo tired” and surround yourself with positive thoughts.

Alright, lets kick off with PHASE ONE:
Start with a clear mind, and a plan of attack. Changing bad habits is NOT easy. Trust me, I know. It’s not easy for me sometimes either, but, I find that when I have something to follow, like a program, it helps me feel a sense of accountability, and with that, comes desire, and drive to be better, and get stronger.

Have you ever heard the phrases ” Abs are made in the kitchen”? Or ” Its 75% diet”?
Well folks…this is not a lie or a joke or something someone just made up for shits and giggles.
It’s that simple. If you eat like shit, yes you will feel like shit.

A much as you are preparing your body for this change, you will need to prepare your kitchen for the change too! Time to CLEAR OUT!

If you are someone who’s been eating quite bad for a longer time now and are interested in first doing a healthy cleanse before starting the program…then you might want to check out this post.

Otherwise…I’ve prepared a grocery list for you that will keep you on track of your goals. It’s foolproof. Buy outside of this list, and that’s when we’ll have problems. Lets be honest, If it was working your way, you wouldn’t be struggling and you probably wouldn’t be reading this ;) It’s simple and to the point. You can create any kind of dish you would like, as long as you stick to your grocery list. I started my mother on this grocery program, and she’s lost 15 pounds, without lifting a finger for exercise. Yes, true, I swear.

This is a LOW CARB/LOW GLYCEMIC diet, with controlled portions.if you have no clue how much you should be eating, I suggest using apps like, My Fitness pal, or Calorie Counter for the first few weeks, to get a sense of how many calories you should be consuming in relation to your weight, and what your goal is. You will see, the cleaner you eat, the more you can enjoy. For serious results, were taking 1200-1500 cals a day.
Eating 5 times a day, with 20-30 grams off protein in each meal will help to keep you full and help remind your brain and body that “yes, I will be feeding you again, so…don’t store fat pleaaaase, Thank you”

Here’s your list babes! Pin it, and take it mobile with you every week when you hit the store!

Other common questions I get are:
” What do you snack on, on a low carb diet, other than meat and cheese?”

Sounds silly, but there is this stigma with low carb newbies, that all we eat is meat, bacon, cheese, and that’s it. Rubbish!

Another question being:
” What do you bake with, or what substitutions do you use when baking or making sweet treats?”

I know that sometimes, my recipes call for ingredients that may intimidate you or look completely foreign, but once you are familiar, it will amaze you how much you can make that sticks to your LOW CARB lifestyle, and is similar or better than your typical cupcakes, breads, puddings, or cookies.

So, I’ve made up a little video explaining all of the products that I use in my kitchen! Low carb style! Look them up, write them down, whatever, cuz these are essentials.

Other supplements that may be beneficial to the success of your weight loss are the following:

L-CARNITINE

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER…THE MORE YOU KNOW THE MORE YOU GROW!

Alright! Lets get into PHASE 2:
Now that you’ve got your diet plan on point, it’s time to get excited about exercise!
Below are ways to jump start a workout plan. No more excuses. This, NOW, is your time! I have a full time job, am a full time blogger, and I STILL make time to prepare meals, and make working out a part of my life.. 5 times a week. there are no excuses. Find a love for fitness.

Create a workout log for yourself with the fitness goals of that week.
Here is my example for this week, and remember, your rest, or OFF days are just as important.
Keep in mind that “OFF” day, doesn’t mean, lay on the couch and scarf down pizza, ice cream, and donuts, it simply means, you are giving your muscles a break. Your diet should remain the same. Don’t consider it a “cheat” day. I hate that word…it’s such a trigger word for me.

Your exercise schedule should include a mixture of cardiovascular training and strength training.
I have found, that the best cardio for me, is High Intensity Interval Training.I found that on Pinterest, there are some really great HIIT routines, you could do either, at home, or at the gym.

Strength training: I can’t stress how IMPORTANT this is as part of your fitness routine. Run, and run, and run alllll you want, but strength training is what’s gonna make it last,help you build muscle, and help you burn more for a longer period of time.

It’s a combination of both cardio and strength training that will keep you lean and ripped!

Hey guys! How are y’all!? My cleanse is over and I’m back to share my very special BORN day with you! Proud to say that it’s my last year of my 20′s! The big 29.
Someone told me yesterday that once you hit thirty, to watch for a shift. That I will definitely will feel a difference. Whatever the f*#k that’s supposed to mean. Al I know is, that I feel FANTASTIC! I say BRING IT 30! I have a good feeling in my belly right now with all the good vibes coming my way for the year.

This morning I woke up super early. Not kidding, like 4:30. Waking up is my favorite part of the day.

It’s quick, effective, and the best part is, that you can do it right in your living room before getting ready for work. Sometimes my schedule is so crazy that I can’t set apart much time to hit the gym, so these type of workouts are best to get that heart rate up.

I got a sweet morning surprise this morning at work… My mom stopped by the salon to say hi, and brought me a cute little bag of goodies. Including a really great night cream I’ve been eyeing by ROC.

Of course mid morning, I snacked on some yummy raw trail mix from home.

Today, I was actually glad to have a super slow day because I got to play all day! Mom came, then 2 of my great girlfriends came, I loved it! Gennina brought baby Joseph, who is sooooo good btw! Such a happy baby, never cried once, all day!

They took out to lunch to this great Italian cafe across the street from the salon called Il Tramezzino. It was sooooo good!
We shared a great tuna chopped salad.
A panini with baked Brie,tomatoes, arugula, and some other goodness

Big ol’ CHEAT day for me today kids.

Bread all over the place, not to mention the dessert we shared.

My amazing co works took me to dinner! My favorite local Argentinian grill, LALA’s is where it’s at!
Bomb food and sangria!

They have a great outdoor patio with heat lamps, so it was super cozy.
My carb-o-load didn’t stop at lunch, the bread baskets and chimichurri just kept on comin’.
Once everyone arrived, we ordered empanadas for everyone to share. (Probably my favorite food of all time).
I ordered a skirt steak with salad. It was out of this world. I haven’t had red meat since the cleanse and I could tell my craving was gnarly. Lol. I was like an animal, I could smell that shit coming right outta the oven!

So.. I started last night. Easy does it.

Sautéed onions, garlic, Swiss chard, kale
With a side of kimchi (great for probiotics)
A few raw kale chips.
A scoop of the acacia fiber powder mix with 8 oz water
2 colon cleanse pills.

This morning:
2 morning pills on an empty stomach.
1 tbsp Raw pecan butter

Cleansing Greens:

1 pinch bee pollen

While I was getting ready this morning, I tossed some cauliflower in a tiny bit of coconut oil and salt & pepper and threw it in the oven for 20 min at 350*. Easyyyyyyy.

I love eating clean like this. Especially at work. I hate when I feel super full during my lunch break, and have to. Do clients 20 minutes later. No thanks. So I think what works best for me, is smaller, cleaner portions, 5x a day.

After work, I was dying to get a workout in, so I ran out the door to try and make the 7 o’clock ZUMBA class, but unfortunately missed it. Womp wooooooomp. But, GREAT NEWS…. I ended up staying and taking Body Sculpting instead. Sandy also teaches this class. ( check out instructor spotlight) This class is killer. I love it because we really focus on isolation, technique, posture, and of course, strength training. The way the class is broken down, is genius. Since I do cardio 4 days a wk. it’s nice to break it up with some serious strength training. Plus, it’s way more fun than lifting weights in the gym by yourself. The class was pact, but I managed to get right up in the front and focus on my posture. Tomorrow is ZUMBA, followed by a 3 mile run. Maybe 3.5 miles..depending on how I feel.
You see, this is why this cleanse works for me, or anyone who is really active. I can’t just, not eat, you know… Those starve yourself cleanses are a joke, I need energy and focus to get through workouts, so I have to replenish my body with clean and nutrient enriched foods. ESPECIALLY since I haven’t been on my best behavior the last few days… Tisk Tisk Paula.

The supplements slowly remove toxins, prepare and refresh your body right back to a healthier state.

This was dinner. Can you tell I’m on a cauliflower kick? I can’t help it sorry. You are more than welcome to switch it out for broccoli.

San Fran GIRLS weekend Re-cap!

My loves!! Hiiiiiiiii Mama’s back! Lol.
Well, San Fran was a total success! So much fun. We were crazy. You know what it’s like when you get together with your closest friends, all hell breaks loose. No, but really. Lol
Let me start off by saying the following:
I apologize for not posting all the meals during this trip, because they were absolutely ridiculous, in a very ” I can’t believe I just pounded that” kinda way.
We got a lot done though!
SHE SAID YES TO THE DRESS…
WE SAID YES TO OUR BRIDESMAID DRESSES…
Lots to catch up on guys.
The three of us flew up together on a Friday night flight, and arrived in San Francisco around 9:30 p.m. Brooke picked us up and we drove to her place in Telegraph Hill. Aka, the cutest apartment EVAaaaaa! We ended up staying up till 1:30 am, drinking red wine and catching up. We passed out in the living room after too much wine. And don’t judge, but, This is how the rest of the nights looked as well. Cheese, wine…cheese, wine…goooooood lord.

I woke up to this beautiful view though. Can’t beat that. Usually when I visit Brooke, I like to wake up super duper early, and go for a run through the city, but there was none of that happening during this trip. Well, I mean, I would of, if it wasn’t for the fact that there had been a crazy rape that happened in the building right across from hers just a week ago. Even though they had caught the guy, I wasn’t comfortable running by myself early. So, to be completely honest, no exercise for me, except for the hours of walking around shopping for bridesmaid dresses.

For sleeping on a couch, I’d say I slept pretty damn well. The copious amounts of wine perhaps helped, but hell, I slept in till 8:30. Absolutely unheard of in my books. I woke up the girls and Brooke got to brewing some of San Francisco’s famous Blue Bottle coffee. ( Next time you are in S.F…please try this coffee. It’s STUPID good!) we had a long day of dress shopping ahead of us, some of us got ready, and others helped make breakfast.

We luckily got some really beautiful weather. It was so lovely out, I really only needed a light jacket. Lots of walking around today, so I wanted to be comfy. Boyfriend jeans, the best invention ever.

Let me just say what I’m thinking for a sec…. Why the F*#% would you put a bunch of crazy brides in one room, ( not to mention, their crazy friends and mothers) without appointments. That’s nuts. We walked in, and it was a total shit show. You could tell, these girls had been waiting in line before the shop even opened. “Um, excuse me, but, how long is the wait to try on dresses?”
” About two hours ma’am.”
We decided to put our names down, and come back later.

This place was funny…. They were known for really great dresses, at cheaper prices. It was all good, until the creepy lady with the mustache came out and made everyone uncomfortable with all her touching.

Brooke would try on a dress, and the lady kept grabbing her as if she was gonna fall off the damn pedestal. Sooo weird. Every time we would come up to touch the dress, she would look at us like ” Can you please, NOT”

The next location we went to, I can’t really share with y’all… Lets just say… That’s where the magic happened. The girls working there were fantastic, and helpful. She tried on some amazing gowns, and we narrowed it down to two. Eeeeeeeek. This is happening! So happy. After all the excitement, we were starved. We stopped at the nearest restaurant and enjoyed this little beauty. A wedge salad, with diced hard boiled eggs, bacon, and pickles. Not pictured: a side of Parmesan baby broccoli. As you can see, we were still low carbin at this point;)

It had been a long day. We were ready to head home. We picked up our girlfriend Natalie, and headed to Trader Joes for some snacks. We had made dinner reservations at 8, but by the time we realized, ” oh, shit, we need to start getting ready!” It was 7:30 and we had consumed 3 blocks of cheese. Talk about a snack ATTACK!
I just realized at that point, that wine is a trigger for me. Wine = snacking= no self control.

In our younger days, going to the bars was something we loved to do. Lol. Now, we tend to not be sooo into it. We walked into a mellow little bar in town, had a beer or two, had some laughs ( no cute boys). It wasn’t that it was boring, but I think we’ve become more homebodies as we’ve grown up.

Natalie wanted to check out some other spots, but as we walked out, we realized all we wanted to do, was go eat and go home like old ladies. Lol it was now like 12:30 so our only option was Thai food , really. Trust me, I wasn’t complaining. Love me some Thai.

The next mornin, we were up ready to go! We had lots of bridesmaids shopping to do. We decided to go have brunch at cafe Divine.

It was such a pretty day out, we opted for outdoor seating. Not the cutest outfit today. It was all about comfort. Again, lots of walking around, so I threw on my running shoes with leggings and a gap gym zip up. This place served a delicious breakfast. Our poor server was so annoyed with us though…

We are the absolute worst when we get together, I swear. We become so high maintenance. Lol
If its not one thing, it’s another. ” um, excuse me… Do you have almond milk?” ” can you froth it please, oh and extra hot please”
” Can I sub the potatoes for a salad… We’re on low carb:)”
” but can you bring the biscuit it comes with… You know, just in case I’d like a bite to try”
” can you take a picture of us please” ” another one…”
I mean… This is real. Lol we weren’t trying to be high maintenance, it just happens. ;) either way, our breakfast was DIVINE! Omelets, fruit, biscuits, mimosas…the BOMB!

Of we went, we walked through the Chinatown during their rush hour Sunday market, through the tunnel, and into downtown.

They get so over it when I’m constantly taking pictures. ;)

Ahhhhh, downtown San Francisco. I gotta admit, when I first started coming here, I wasn’t the biggest fan, but now, as I explore more of the city, I’ve completely fallen in love with it and everything it had to offer. I mean, look at this little eatery right in the middle of an alley. It’s gorgeous. It reminds me of home. ( Buenos Aires, AR) I could totally live here.

We were looking for a specific color pallet for the bridesmaids… Blush, nude, champagne. The look of the wedding is very, sort of country, so we weren’t looking for something too fancy. They didn’t have to match, as long as we stayed in the pallet. Easy enough. I ended up finding my dress at urban outfitters, of all places. To my surprise, when the girl rang me up, the dress ended up being on like, DOUBLE sale. It was originally $90.00. I payed $28.00!!!! STOKED
Hello bargain! We found Alicia’s dress at Macy’s. it fit her perfect. And although it was more expensive, she used a Macy’s gift card that she had which dropped it down a hundred bucks!
Kelly found her dress at Forever 21. I swear it doesn’t look cheap at all. It’s sooooo pretty!
This is where we had a little problem. We almost got kicked out of Forever 21. Lol. It wasn’t our fault. Obviously as a bride, you want to see how the dresses look on your bridesmaids, duh. Apparently your not allowed to do that there.
Employee: ” ma’am, you can’t stand here”
Brooke: “Huh? ok well then, I’ll try something on”
Employee: ” no you can’t do that, because I saw you just grab whatever. You’re not really trying that on for yourself”
Brooke: ” WTF. R you kidding me? I want to talk to your manager!”
Well, the manager was WORSE. She completely freaked out on Brooke, because she said, we were making her staff feel “uncomfortable” . She had no idea how to handle nor diffuse the situation. We were in the middle of trying on dresses, so we just told her, that if she wanted us out, she could just go ahead and call security. Hello!! I was still freakin naked in the fitting room, crazy lady!
Anyway, she never did, but how embarrassing if we were to have been kicked out of there! Haha
Actually, on my way out, I ended finding my bridesmaid shoes by the register.
I picked them up…perfect color…perfect size… Oh and best part…..get ready!
5 freakin dollars!
I danced my way outta there. BOOOO-YAAAA-ka-SHAAAAA.
That’s how it’s done. ;)

Before heading back to the apt, we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch on the top level of Macy’s. how bout that view!

Skinny red sangrias all around! The menu said they came with fresh fruit…. So again.. Here it comes….45 minutes back n forth with the waiter about the freakin fruit that didn’t come with it, that should’ve. We just kept laughing at ourselves. We bring out the crazy in each other.

I ordered grilled chicken with grilled asparagus, bruschetta, and arugula. Sounds healthy enough. Problem is, and they ALWAYS do this here, they fill the bottom of the plate with oil! WTF. It was saturated. So weird. I still ate it. Lol, along with their famous brown bread. no one fought the waiter when he put down that basket. Lol. I was not hating on the bread this weekend!

Our last night together was so fun! We, of course shared some amazing wine, ordered a huge pizza and cracked ourselves up all night!

The next morning would be our last day in San Francisco. Originally we had planned to drive to the venue, check it out, have lunch there, and drive back, but we had to be at the airport by like 4:30. We figured it would be cutting it close, since it would’ve taken us 1 hour & 1/2 to get there.

A slow wake up on our last day….
We were sooo stoked when we heard from the bridal shop! They told us to come in at 3:00. And since we had already found everything else we needed, today was gonna be chill. We went for a walk around town looking for a nice breakfast spot. For some reason most places in North Beach don’t open till 11. So strange. We found a great lil Italian joint open, and walked in at the perfect time. 10 minutes later it was PACKED!

After a lazy walk back home from breakfast, we packed up our suitcases. Ugh, this trip was perfect. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. We took a bottle of crisp Italian wine up to the rooftop, enjoyed the view, and shared crazy stories for a couple hours before going back to Novella. Once there, we decided to just grab a couple more dresses to try on. You know, just to make sure. All of a sudden the two that we thought were “it”, now were just a memory. She decided against both of them. Low and behold came a JEM! A gorgeous dress that we came across last minute. We all knew…. This is “IT!”

Turning a bad day… Into a good one…

Yup… That’s my car…and yesterday had started off on the right foot. Damn!
This day just went from bad to worse, just read on…

On my way to do a client, I got on the freeway, as as I turned my head to switch lanes, BOOM!!!,
They all suddenly pressed their brakes right in front of me, no way I couldn’t hit them. Ughhhhh

Gotta get this fixed right away… Hey, that’s why we get insurance, right?

It get better.
I get home, and thought, “you know what would make me feel better?”
Ahhh, an Epsom salt bath. I was feeling stressed and tight from being tense during the accident, and was seeing signs of a premature headache, so it was just was I was needing.
Well…while I’m in there, I keep wondering why the water level is going down…. So naturally, I just adding hot water. Logical, right?

As soon as I get out, POUNDING at the front door, that sounded like either cops, or a raging jealous boyfriend. ( you know, that kind of pounding). I freaked, put on my robe, and hesitantly opened the door.
It was my poor neighbor panicking.
He took one look at me, ” Were you taking a bath?”
Me: ummmm yeah why.
Neighbor: cuz my ceiling collapsed and is flooding my house.
Me: oh no, I’m sorry.. But I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I have any water anywhere. Hmmmm
Neighbor: you may wanna check your kitchen….
Me: ok………..HOLY SHIT, F*%#!

Yeah…water covering the kitchen floor, coming through the ceiling. Jussssssst perfect.

To top it off, this is the best part as the night was coming to end…. Oh and… I will spare your eyes by not sharing the sick pic, but, Willy had a a bone mid-day that I had forgotten to take away from him, and a few bourse later…freakin threw up all over the place!
I mean….. I just don’t even know what to say. Why do they pick the coziest places to throw up, huh? My area rug, even went upstairs to , so graciously leave me a present on my bedspread. Why can’t you be sick on the DAMN HARDWOOD!!!

THINGS THAT I’M GRATEFUL FOR TODAY

#1: I took my 2nd spin class ever today! Super positive experience, although, it was sooooo hard!
I had met up with a girlfriend at crunch gym, so that I could try it out, and we had a blast. Sweaty ladies!

How are we feeling after this weekend’s celebrations friends? Did y’all enjoy the last day of 2012?? Yeeeeeehooooooo. I did! Maybe a little too much;) Monday was a super fun day! I got a lot done, stoked on my new toy (vitamix), managed to get in my last workout of the year, Zumba, of course, and made some bomb ass scalloped potatoes for the New Years festivities. Sooo excited!
I wanted to share the fun with all of you babes! It was a blast! Full of great champagne, wine, friends, delicious food, and pretty little sweets.
Here’s the bestie Amy. Her and her boyfriend Matt hosted a great party, always do.

The potatoes au gratin were a hit. I ended up doing a healthier version. You know how heavy that dish can be. Originally made with lots of cream, cheese, butter, etc. I made it with ghee (clean butter), little bit of flour, nonfat Greek yogurt , skim cheeses, and unsweetened flax milk. I was actually pleasantly surprised to see how nicely it thickened up while on the stovetop. Also lots of garlic and thyme. That always makes thing taste delicious!

Ok, so annoyed. Apparently sometime during the evening, I got a big ol’ smudge on my lense. Effing pissed, cuz now you can’t really see my plate in all it’s glory!
Anyway, I forgot to mention, the CRAB LEGS. No bigz.
Dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it all. Everything paired beautifully.

I need help REVAMPING my bedroom!!

hey guys,  I have been PIN crazy lately! Since I’ve decided to re-do the upstairs master (the only bedroom;)) I have lost my shit on PINterest ever since. Hours spent looking for ideas on layouts, furniture, lighting, etc. I don’t even know where to start. When I moved in 2 years ago, I didn’t have a vision. It was about just gettin everything in the there so I could be done with it.

Let me give you a lil history… I was living with my bestie Amy in Hollywood 3 years ago. We were both single and enjoying it. I met a guy, we ended up becoming quite serious, fast. I was pretty much spending most of my time at his house, which was effin far….Santa clarita.  Where my parents are. I would drive from his house 3-4 days a wk to Beverly Hills for work,  which ended up being 3 1/2-4 hours a day in traffic there and back. Gooood lord. I know, the things we do for love. sighhhh.

Anyway, at some point, around 6 months of dating, somehow we decided and thought it would be easier to move in together. So, the search began. It was a really exciting time. We would stay up late looking for houses. We were mostly looking in the valley because we wanted something in the middle. He worked in Woodland Hills and I in B.H. After a few weeks of checking out places that we felt no connection to, we spotted a lil GEM. On craigslist. Gorgeous 3 bedroom country style home with a pool, a white picket fence and last but not least, a red door! my god, she was a beauty. ONE PROBLEM. It was in Santa Clarita. Further than I wanted by faaaaaaarrrrrr!. I tried to put that house out of my mind and keep looking, but for some reason , it kept coming back to haunt us. One day while J was at work, I decided, Hell, why not just see what it looks like in person. Yeah. I was in love. It was on the cheaper side because it was located at the end of a dirt road, that when in rained, you didn’t know if you would be able to get the hell outta there in the morning. I didn’t care. I wanted country.

We ended up getting this great house. Beautiful. All of the bedroom furniture I had, went into the guest bedroom. It was a full size bed, what did you expect. We bought a wonderful tempurpedic mattress and bed frame , (we both had back problems) that I dream about. (He bought it, so he kept it)lol. We were only in that house 3 months before the relationship took a turn south.

2 years ago to the day, I left, and there went that fabulous bed. Obviously there went everything really. I’m not gonna get into why i left. (I don’t think he would appreciate that) but it was a very sad day…I chose to move forward full force. A few hiccups in the road of course. I found an apt in a great area, just over the canyon from my work. At the time quite a few of my friends were in the same area, so it really did help while I was figuring out my life. Single again. It was weird.

Have you guys ever been in a relationship that got so serious so fast and just ended so abruptly?? like.. BOOM, move on?

 

Anyway, at the time I didn’t want to get new furniture because I just didn’t have a clue what style I wanted. Plus, anytime you move, it’s an expense and I had no cash leftover. womp woooomp. Little by little, things started to come together. It wasn’t sush a mish mosh. I was calling it eclectic:) I was buying pieces one at the time.I painted all the walls white.(it really helps if you don’t have that much light coming through, to do that instead of a color that will drown out the brightness) I mounted my t.v in the living room which totally opened up the room, got a lrg FAB couch, and a great cozy area rug.  Sometimes the hardwood everywhere tends to feel a bit stark to me, and I like the cozy vibe. I must share pics of the down stairs. I’m proud:) The bedroom on the other hand,  It’s embarrassing. It’s the most awkward layout ever. It’s huge but in the long kinda way. Somewhat disproportioned.

I will post pics of the layout, In the meantime, since I’ve been PIN crazy, I’ve found lots of great ideas and options for similar spaces. YEAY, there is hope. Now I just gotta save dollllasss, to start with a new bed.  By the way, how the EFF am I supposed to do with all my old stuff. I can’t get all that furniture down the stairs?? What do people do?? HELP!

ok here it goes:) Just a few ideas out of many, but these are the faves for bed and office. I’m also gonna have my little home gym on the opposite side of the room in from of the mirrors. That’s gonna be a whole other project though. Please feel free to leave your thoughts! I love your comments and they do sincerely help!
