Well, well, well…. If it isn’t already September….


Hi babes! Hope everyone had a fantastic & safe Labor Day weekend;) I just can’t believe that August has already flown by! There is still absolutely NO sign of the weather cooling down. Nope. In the valleys, it’s still triple digits! I need a pool! For the holiday weekend, me and some friends decided to get outta the smoldering, desert heat, and head to the beaches of Ventura, CA.


Pierpont Beach….. Amazing weather…amazing friends…and a whole lot of partying;)
Willy came along for the ride;)


We got there around 11:30, and set up our spot. I got the BEST lil table that folds up from crate and barrel, that I’m completely obsessed with, and take everywhere…so we payed out all our snacks and drinks:) we started with mimosas of course, but used light Minute Maid 50% less sugar OJ instead of regular. Some more friends met up, and we moved to light beer. There’s just something so refreshing about an ice cold beer at the beach. Michelob Ultra to be exact. It’s super light, and low carb! Cheers to fun & tan lines;)


Around 4:30 we headed up for a killer (&low carb) BBQ! It was amazing! Lean Jennie-O Italian sausages, marinaded chicken breast, carne asana, bell peppers, spinach salad… OHHH myyyyyyyy!
Chips & salsa…(not so low carb, but still indulged) oooooooo, and some homemade rum, vanilla liquor cake that my friend Jules had brought. A bit of a food coma set in, but, hey…it’s a holiday:) lol.

After din we all headed back down to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. Spectacular. Absolutely stunning.
That night, (sunday) we all went out in downtown Ventura, and had a ball. Super fun..lots of cocktails, and bar hopping. You know what that means…. Monday breakfast would be a cheat… Lol. I was dying for a rich, and delicious Blueberry Cornbread Muffin from Café Nouveau. Hands down fave breakfast joint.


Well, luckily..we made it home without traffic:)
Tuesday came far tooooooo fast.
Somehow, my pretty yellow roses lived though my un-air conditioned apartment for 2 days. WTF. So happy.


I woke up this morning feeling pretty defeated. I gotta tell ya, I cannot hang like I used to. My body was yelling at me for sure. I felt bloated, heavy, and lethargic. At that moment….I made some decisions.
Chill the Fu*% out…

Chill on the drinking!

I quit sugar. (Again)

Stick to low carb… ( with the exception of these healthy carbs: sweet potato (limited) squash. Tomatoes (limited) most fruits. Gluten free oats (sometimes)

Limit snacking.

Listen, all of these things I’ve got to keep reminding myself, and even write down because THIS IS WHAT WORKS FOR ME.
Shake it off ladies. Jump back on the fit train! Today is Tuesday….the day after the holiday…lets do werrrrrk!!!!
I threw on shorts and a sports bra and looked up today’s GPP Fitness WOD.
This was a really great one. Kicked my ass.
Not too busy at work today, so I also plan to take a Corepower class around 4:30 today… Really starting to feel like myself again, after a few days of whatever the fu%*.

Breakfast this morning was DA BOMMMBBBB! Doesn’t look very exciting, but it was exactly what my body was screaming for. Protein..protein..and omegas. Lol.
Work didn’t start till 11:00 am, so I had time to bake a fresh wild caught salmon:)
I made a delicious runny egg and yes, I did eat the yolk. Yummmmmm. I’m a new person.
Lately I’ve stopped using oil sprays, even the organic ones. I’m just over them. I’ve now switched to a teeny bit of coconut oil or Ghee.


Oh you know…just a little selfie this fine Tuesday…. Loving my new Ray Bans btw. September is mos def lookin up;) feeling really strong and looking forward to keeping up with the decisions I’ve made.(above)

Well, you know what day it is!! It’s WHAT I ATE WEDNESDAY.
I hope you guys found yesterday’s get fit post helpful and informative to start your new healthy lifestyle!

Last night’s ZUMBA class was on fire! I burned 600 calories, and of course when I got out, all I could think about, was how I had nothing left in fridge for my weekly meal plan! You know how they say, never go grocery shopping hungry…. Well, I raided Trader Joes like an animal. I didn’t really eat dinner before class, so my tummy was rummmmmbling. I even broke open a pack of walnuts as I was shopping around, cuz I just couldn’t take it anymore! Lol

I recently decided to incorporate Casein Protein into my diet, and have been playing around with different ways to enjoy it. Actually, a lot of the ideas I’ve found, have been on Instagram. It’s amazing what kind of inspiration you can find on that thing!

Casein provides a sustained slow release of amino acids into the blood stream, sometimes lasting for several hours. (While you sleep 7-8 hrs) This provides better nitrogen retention and use by the body.Because of its slow digesting properties, casein is widely used between meals and before bed to help bodybuilders maintain muscle in an anabolic state

So this was my dinner/dessert;)

1 scoop Banana smoothie Casein

1 tbsp unflavored gelatin ( to add thickness)

1/2-1 cup hot almond milk (depending n how thick you want it )

1 tbsp pb2

Blend together, and stick it in the fridge. In an hour or two, check it. It should be thick.
This is soooo delicious, and was exactly what my body needed after my workout, before bed.


Here’s the stocked up fridge after $100. Trader joes is my Jam! I got soooooo much clean food for just $100, that’s what’s up! The best part is, it will last me all week.

I absolutely love fresh flowers in my house, like, at all times.


Ok, enough with last night 😉


This morning’s breakfast was, again, inspired by Instagram. A microwave chocolate banana protein cake. Susanna Backman ( a trainer/nutritional coach) @tastyhealth has got amazing low carb, high protein ideas for every meal. You gotta follow her, and tell her From Fries To Fit is gushing about her 😉

This was a dream. I mean… Cake for dinner!? Yes, I think so y’all.
Listen carefully though, this cake is super easy, but also easy to OVERCOOK.



In chocolate bowl:

1/2 a scoop chocolate About Time Whey
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp coconut flour
1/8-1/4 cup water
1 tbsp 0% Greek yogurt
Optional: add a couple drops of stevia if you like it a bit sweeter

In banana bowl:

1/2 scoop banana About Time Whey
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tsp coconut flour
1/8-1/4 cup water
1tbsp 0% greek yogurt

1 tbsp raw almond butter
Drizzle Natures Hollow sugar free honey
Cacao nibs



Add dry ingredients first to both bowls, mix each well, then, add wet ingredients to each bowl. Once combined, add chocolate mix into banana mix, and use a knife to give a swirl effect.
Pop in the microwave for 30 seconds. Check it at this point, as this lil puppy over cooks super fast. Add 20-30 more seconds. It should be rising at this point. Remove, plate, and top with almond butter, honey and cacao nibs.


I didn’t have to work till ten today, so I managed to get some meal prepping done for the week.
Honestly, I don’t wanna hear that you ” just, don’t have the time” cuzzzzzzz you do. I managed to prep 4 full meals in 20 mins! It can be done people.

Lean turkey patties with only 8 grams of fat, 0 carbs, and 18 grams of protein

Cooked in a 1 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil.

Seasoned with garlic powder, 21 salute seasoning, salt & pepper.


As those were on the skillet, I pre heated the oven to 350 degrees, tossed a bag of broccoli with a pinch of olive oil, lots of lemon, and seasonings, and threw it in there to cook for 18 minutes.

While in the oven, I took advantage of the open burners, and hard boiled eggs in one, and sautéed collard greens with leeks, onions, garlic in the other.

All under 20 minutes. I love clean eating… Seriously, it’s easy to eat healthy:)



I put one patty, a side of broccoli, and sautéed greens topped with fat free feta in each Tupperware.
2 hard boiled eggs
1/2 cup blueberries
A 100 calorie pack of almonds.
A handful of cut up cucumbers with lemon and seasoning.

Oh, and, I almost forgot…I don’t eat lunch without my live salsa. Pretty much fermented veggies. Sounds gross, but it’s the bomb! Full of enzymes and probiotics.


Tonight’s DINNER:

Ooooooooohhhhhhhhweeeeee! Holy protein dinner of champions. Essentially, a sweet egg crepe. I know, so happy right now. I posted this on my Instagram, and it was a hit! I had it for breakfast the other day, and I couldn’t stop thinking about the next time this heavenly treat would once again meet my lips! Sooooo, tonight it is 😉 This girl’s gone WILD over here. What’s up with me lately, I swear, it’s allllll about sweet dinners. Oh well, as long as its healthy right?


Ok, this is so simple, and delicious.


The wrap:

1 egg

5 egg whites

A pinch of Cinnamon

3 drops stevia


The filling:

1 tbsp low fat cottage cheese

1 tbsp Raw almond butter

1/2 a cut up banana


Roll it up……


Top with chopped almonds and sprinkled with unsweetened coconut flakes.


Go ahead….eat the whole thing.. That’s right, and enjoy every second of it, cuz it’s nothin’ but good for ya! I broke up the amount of nut butter with some cottage cheese in order to reduce the fat content, and add a bit of a softer texture.
What do u think? I think you should eat this tomorrow morning…. It’s really amazing how this is actually in your diet plan. Tastes so naughty!


Vanilla Casein “Panna Cotta”

Same recipe as last nights dessert, except this time with vanilla flavored casein. I couldn’t wait for it to thicken up in the fridge, so I put it In the freezer for 10 minutes, or until panna cotta consistency. This is by far, my favorite meal of the day… My ” before bed” treat. My muscles will be happy;)


On a fitness note:

I managed to pull out a quick core exercise with my Lebert equalizer.

Really, it’s more of a full body workout because you are using more than just your core to hold yourself up the whole time.








** trust me….you will hate me after this. If you don’t own these bars, it’s fine, duh. You can use 2 chairs! 😉


So far, I’m on track with my weekly workout schedule. I’m wearing my polar watch to keep track of my calories burned, and I’m planning my meals ahead of time. How are things going with you guys? Tonight’s agenda: BODYSCULPTING. 1 hour of circuit training, with bands, weights, lunging, crunching,squatting, you name it. I burned 350 right there. Stoked!

Stoked on my new HOME GYM….

Hey guys!

Today started off really crazy! I’m ending my night on the couch as I write this, completely exhausted. Last night, I went to my girlfriends house for dinner, and ended up passing out on her couch while we were watching “Trouble with the Curve”. Good, cute movie, but my eyes apparently could not stay open. I woke up at 2:00 am completely confused. LOL. I had to work in the morning, so I had to get home, plus, there’s nothing like your own bed, you know? So, i grabbed willy and we drove home to get in a few more hours of sleep.

In true Paula fashion…If you know me, than you wouldn’t be surprised, I was up and full of energy at 5:30 a.m.

Now, writing that, makes me feel like a crazy lady. God forbid I sleep in. Geez. It was like someone lit a rocket on my ass. You wouldn’t guess what the hell I was doing that early……… I literally built a gym in my upstairs bedroom.My neighbors probably want to kill me. I was being a loud mess. Oops. Sorry boos:)

Ok, so…Where you see the dressers, is where my bed was (which was a BITCH to move) yup, took the whole thing apart. Lots of noise happening there.




The dressers were on the other side of the room, and SUPER heavy, so, I had to take out all the drawers, move the dressers to the other side, and put all the drawers back in. I was like a machine this morning! Please don’t even look at those hideous blinds…embarrassing. They are coming off soon. Ughh




I pretty much already had most of this equiptment, except for those super dope black gym floor. You wouldn’t believe me when I tell you I got it at ROSS for $16.99. Hello! It was eggggzactly what I was looking for. And you know those places… It’s hit or miss. So I was stoked! I couldn’t wait to get home and actually use it tonight!  My energy craze lasted 2 1/2 hours, and I had had enough! I was ready for breakfast.



The Vitamix has been great!! I’ve been making Green drinks every morning. It just really feels good to start my doy with something so clean.


4 dino kale leaves

2 tbsp low fat cottage cheese

1 scoop vanilla protein powder by Collagen Sport

1 cup unsweetened flax milk. (avail. at whole foods)

1 tsp vanilla bean paste

1 packet of stevia

1 tsp PB2

5 ice cubes

A pinch of bee pollen

I’ve also been into making fresh OJ. (I mean, not allll the time, too much sugar) & in my house, nothing goes to waste, you see, so I saved the rinds for maybe making some infused vodka or something. They’re sittin in the fridge, I gotta figure it out soon. This smoothie was  my breakfast, actually, quite filling. of course, after the fiasco this morning upstairs, I was also dying for a coffee! So I had an espresso (double shot) with almond milk:)


I thought that I was gonna be totally late to work today, but I was certainly pleasantly surprised to see, pretty much, no cars on the road. I guess people are still outta town or something. The worst part is…I get there almost even early, I check the books, and I have 1 client. ONE freakin client!!!! Can you believe?! So pissed. I figured the salon would be slower today, but c’mon. The good part was, that i got to go get cozy at starbucks, enjoy a skinny peppermint mocha, and blog for a while.

Had lunch around 2. Kinda late for me, but whateves. I was gettin my starbeeez on!

Lunch today was really clean and ummmm sooo good! It looks like roadkill, yes, I know, but everything about it was sooo RIGHT!

Today dragged, and dragged, and dragged…… I just wanted to get home and try the baby gym out! I got home a little bit early, with no traffic, it was terrific. I quickly put on my warm running clothes and took off wit willy for a one mile warm-up



Then jumped sound, a with a mix of weightl lifting, a bit of dancing and some planks. I wore my heart transmitter and Polar warch to keep track of what I achieved during the workout. An extra 300 calories off my 3250 calorie burn weekly target. yeayyyyy. So far this week, 950 cals burned. Starting the NEW YEAR off right!:)


Dinner was a delicious Protein Plate Egg salad

  • Mostly egg whites
  • Sauteed with chopped swiss chard
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Topped with a sprinkle of goat cheese
  • and raw pumpkin seeds.
  • A bit of siracha

It was the perfect dinner. Not too big, not too much.

The perfect balance of fats, proteins, and greens!

These types of meals, are what we should enjoy every night for dinner for 2013. CLEAN MEALS. I’m not saying that It absolutely HAS to be exactly this, but something like this. Well balanced, clean, and especially if your 2013 resolution is to get fit, then you need all this protein!

It was sooo good!



After dinner, of course I wanted something sweet, so I munched on a World’s Healthiest Cookie that I had I the fridge, and a handful of walnuts & mulberries. I had a little couch potato moment, and enjoyed my new Bon Apetite that arrived in the mail. I still totally LOVE receiving magazines in the mail. I get excited to check everyday, like a kid on christmas day. Such a dork.



Now, no joke, I’m tirrrrrrred! Headed to bed babes, hope you enjoy a fabulous day tomorrow! XO, P

Happy Thursday everyone!
I hope you’ve been enjoying the recipes! I’ve been eating them up like a crazy! Today feels like its been jam PACKED. I had to be at work at 9 a.m. this morning, so, no gym for me. Instead, I busted out the Lebert equalizer, and did a quick 15 min powerhouse circuit. Of course I woke up ready for some yum in the tum 🙂 I had a a quick breakfast. CG bran crisp bread, with some raw hemp butter, and Nature’s Hollow sugar free preserves. Oh yeah, sprinkled with raw cacao nibs. BOMB.


If you’ve never heard of the Lebert Equalizer, you have NOW! These things are genius. Great for agility training, pull ups, push ups, dips, you name it. They are perfect if you haven’t got the space to do too much. I first heard of them through my girls at Purely Twins. I am so grateful, I immediately ordered them online.


This morning’s workout consisted of the following:



I was dying after! Quick but effective. Strength trading using your own body weight. The only rest is between set one and two. My muscles were burning. Morning sweat sesh… A SUCCESS.

After my workout, I was in the mood for a cookie with my coffee. I’ve always been more of a “sweets for breakfast” kinda gal, so when I found this recipe, I knew it was perfect for me! It’s packed full of the perfect blend of carbs, protein, and fat. Mostly protein:) the carb comes from the banana. I will post the recipe soon!! It took all of 15 minutes! Freakin no time!

I had 2 cookies, and hoped in the shower.

Efffffff me.

The first one I tried, I put it in my mouth, just to taste, spit it out. It was delicious. Too good. If I had one, it would be over, the batch would be mine….
Well, of course, there were three different types… By the time I tried the 3rd variety, I swallowed.
The “extremist” came out in me, and “moderation” was out of the question, so I walked away after 2.
Ok… 2 1/2;)


I wore my cute little bracelet today that I found at TJ Maxx this weekend. Let me remind you…. $14.99. RIGHT!???


Although today was quite busy, I managed to squeeze in getting my color did. Just my roots. Yes I have grey…not much, but, no thanks.
I always leave the ends out, I like them lighter. I’m doing the whole hombre thing I guess.


While I processed, I put together my packed lunchie… Queen of the perfect bite, you can imagine my everything-in-one salad!

– spinach
-1 can wild salmon with lemon, salt, and pepper
-1 tbsp raw salsa
– leftover homemade Zuchinni pasta with sundries tomatoes, pesto, walnuts,and marinated artichoke hearts on top
– a dollop of spicy hummus

Tossed all together= PERFECT BITE

Snacks during the day ( not pictured)

-a small gala apple
– 1 package Trader Joe’s raw almonds
– a small persimmon.
– tbsp almond butter ( right outta the jar)


I’m gonna SCREAM!
Not gonna lie… I had a quarter… Don’t kill me!!
I had to try the new peppermint flavor, duh.
But I mean, c’mon, that’s enough, Paula!.
Sprinkles cupcakes, are by far the best in town. There are still lines outside the damn place!
Ill be doing my second workout of the day tonight, so, not worried. ZUMBA!


After work, i heajded straight To the studio.You may have taken a local Zumba class, maybe at your gym? Well, nothing compares to this class. Taught by Sandy Campanella, a trained dancer at some of the top schools, brings something very special to the table. Great choreography (this ain’t jazzercise), amazing physical challenge,, and always full of energy. I will be doing a whole Q & A with her coming up, so be on the lookout!
Btw, I reckon I burned 500 cals.

Good morning! I finally feel like I’m getting back to my normal routine. This morning’s workout seems like a small list but by the time I finished the 3rd round of sets, I had had enough. The Spartan Race is getting sooo close! Next Sunday! Did I mention how nervous I am??? Pretty much freaking out.


     Run 30 minutes 5k
10 push ups
10 body weight squats
10 burpees
25 crunches

(Repeat 1-3 times)

 I’ve been training with my old Asics. They are so beat up, holes n all. These are the ones Ill be using for the race, so I figured I’d train in them. I’ll definitely be throwing them out after sunday. Oh, that reminds me…What are the best running shoes out?? I’m in the market for something new! I’ve tried the Nike frees, and also have a pair of trail racing shoes. Any suggestions??

I made a delicious protein shake after my workout.. It blew my mind!

1 scoop of collagen sport vanilla protein

1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

1/2 cup filtered water

1/2 cup flax milk (unsweetened) or almond milk

1 tbsp PB2

1 tsp raw acai powder

1/4 cup 0% greek yogurt

1 tsp. Vanilla bean paste

2-3 drops stevia

3 ice cubes

  • The anthocyanins found in acai are believed to lower the occurrence of diabetic retinopathy and the formation of fibrous breast tissue.
  • The high concentration of linoleic acid in acai can lower bad cholesterol while raising the good levels.
  • Acai has more anthocyanins than red wine or blueberries.

I’m usually still hungry even after a shake , but with this one, I swear it definitely fills me up. Does anyone else feel like me? AlAWAYS hungry when you train hard? The more I work out, the more my stomach feels like a bottomless pit.

It was a beautiful day in sunny Cali! I took advantage and ran Willy for a little bit. He is such an anxious dog and has to constantly be exercised. Well, it could be worse… I could have a lazy ass dog, then I would become a couch potato;) …not really.


After our run, I looked in the fridge, and realized that I needed to stock up on fresh fruits and veggies for the week, so I grabbed a couple of recyclable bags and took off to the farmers market just a few blocks from my house. I try to buy as organic as possible when I can. Sometimes if I know that I’ll be peeling it, I’ll opt for non-organic. Is that naughty?





Shopping at local farmer’s markets not only  save you money and provide the freshest produce, but you also contribute to local farming. I love supporting small businesses and farms. Nowadays big names like Vons, Ralphs, etc, have taken over the game, while locals struggle to keep their products selling. I picked up sooooo many goodies! A beautiful arrangement of peppers.

When you shop at your local farmer’s markets you also get the benefit to purchasing only what’s in season, ensuring better quality produce. Haven’t you noticed that at the major stores, everything is always in season? think about it.

Listen, Im not trying to preach. I go to Whole Foods, Trader Joes AND Ralphs all the time, and I always find great stuff at good prices, but you gotta have a balance. Just a recommendation:)


took some great shots of these beautiful orchids. I didn’t buy one cuz I thought it wouldn’t really match my new holiday decor, but still… I LOVE orchids. They don’t last that long at my house. Everyone says the less you pay attention to them, the longer they live. yeah…I don’t know about that.




look at theses fab mushrooms! I wanted every kind of mushroom they had available, but I probably would’ve spent my life savings. These puppies aren’t cheap. I’ll just stick to porchini, portabellos, and shitake:) They’re cheaper but delicious. I had to take a couple pics though.

 Check out this awesome recipe for either a packed lunch or dinner. Baby broccoli is so good. The crunch factor is so much more apparent than in the regular bush looking head of broccoli. It’s super easy and takes 15 minutes.GET REAL..this is what I’m taking about. Healthy, delicious foods that can be paired and made easily. With 4 flavor packed ingredients this is sure to become one of your staples.

















I also wanted to share my most recent purchase…. My Lebert Equalizer! I’ve been using them to train for my upcoming race, and really have grown to love them. They came with a video that I have yet to watch. For now, My exercises on them have been pretty standard, but I’m ready to try some gnarlier stuff! They are ridiculous. They’re in the middle of my living room, super abnoxious yellow, and huge. lol. You gotta do whatcha gotta do. These things are a total body workout. As soon as I grow out of my “Im nervous to post a video of myself working out on youtube” stage, This will be the first thing I post. I’m sure lookin crazy.





















Dinner was a big ol’ salad made with:

salmon in a can (with lemon, salt, and pepper)

baby tomatoes


roasted red and green italian peppers

shaved cabbage

shaved fennel

Raw live salsa (pretty much fermented chopped veggies)

apple cider vinager

Olive oil

It was really tasty, although, I would have liked something a bit more hearty or warm.It was more of a lunch idea.
