TIME TO CLEAN OUT YOUR FRIDGE PEOPLE!

I am one of those people who absolutely loves to grocery shop. We joke at work, that when we are not busy, our favorite thing to do is walk to whole foods. LOL

I just love constantly finding new healthy items and this is where I usually get inspired to try a new recipe:) Most of the time I will put aside an 1/2 hour or so after work during the week to prepare or cook something for the following work day.(a packed lunch secures better diet decisions and saves money). You can also make time on your weekends (doesn’t need to be a gnarly amount of time) to plan out your meals for the week and pre-package or freeze anything you need to.  I like to shop at a few different spots I love Trader Joes, Whole Foods Market, Gelsons. Honestly, you can find most of these things at a regular ol’ market:)

Stock up your fridge and pantry with these skinny girl items!

PROTEIN

  1. Lean organic chicken
  2. Grass fed lean beef
  3. cage free eggs or egg whites
  4. unflavored protein ( i usually buy whey, but you can sub for rice,pea,hemp,egg white)
  5. wild salmon
  6. tilapia
  7. only RAW nut butters
  8. walnuts,almonds,sunflower seeds,pumpkin seeds

DAIRY

  1. low-fat organic cottage cheese
  2. low fat string cheese (organic, for snacks)
  3. 0% faye greek yogurt

VEGETABLES

  1. chard leaves
  2. onions/garlic
  3. broccolli/cauliflower
  4. brussel sprouts
  5. kabocha/spagetti/butternut squash
  6. arugula/spinach/romaine/kale/cabbage
  7. ginger
  8. peppers
  9. avocado (use sparingly)
  10. zuchinni
  11. eggplant
  12. mushrooms
  13. asparagus

 

FRUITS

  1. all berries
  2. small apples
  3. bananas
  4. grapefuit/lemons/limes


OTHER FAB FOODS

  1. plain oats
  2. quinoa
  3. miracle noodles or shirataki noodles
  4. coconut oil/olive oil/ghee (clarified butter)
  5. pure paleo wraps
  6. almond meal/flax meal
  7. CHIA seeds
  8. hemp seeds
  9. flackers
  10. raw crusts
  11. organic miso
  12. nama shuyo
  13. apple cider vinegar
  14. unsweetened almond/flax/hemp/coconut milk
  15. raw tahini
  16. nutritional yeast flakes (in place of parmesan)

  18. erythritol (for baking)

  20. 85%-100% cacao/chocolate
  21. raw unsweetened cacao
