Never will you ever make anything more easy!!
No time in the a.m.? no problem! There are no excuses anymore chicks! If you have the time to sit and look at your Instagram feed, then you have time to set the day off to a healthy start by making this delicious recipe you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

With a supreme dose of your FIT basics: Protein, Veggies, and healthy fats!
You can’t go wrong….I mean, unless you try and fry the damn thang!

Alright let’s kick it off…..

First things first:
Have your cutting board clean and ready.

Grab a chopping knife. Warning: keep your fingers tucked in, and chop against your knuckles. No accidents puleazzze!

Grab a medium bowl, set aside.

You will need a skillet. ( I love to use a cast iron skillet)

OK…now we can start to CHOP!

Roughly chop cauliflower ( not to small)

CHOP kale, onions, garlic (very chopped), green onions….

In the bowl, combine egg whites, eggs, almond milk, garlic powder, salt & pepper.

Whisk, whisk, whisk.

then add cheese, leave aside a handful to top the frittata off before throwing it in the oven.

Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.
Add 1 tbsp coconut oil to your skillet and place over stovetop on medium heat.
Add chopped cauliflower. Cook 3 minutes
Then, add onions. After a few more minutes cooking and stirring…add green onions and kale.
What you’re essentially looking for, lightly softened, sautéed vegetables. remember: it will go in the oven as well, so no need o over sautée on the stovetop.
Once soft, approx 10 minutes, sprinkle the mozzarella set aside from earlier, and place skillet in the oven, uncovered.
Cook for 15-20 minutes.
Check for a bit off firmness in the eggs.

Check it out! GORGEOUS!

I served this with a side of roasted vegetables , but really, you could serve alone, with a spring mix salad, maybe even along side another protein, like poached salmon. Soooo many options!
It’s super fluffy, because we whipped it a bit with the almond milk, and the cauliflower gives it kind of a “potato” feel in your mouth. It’s A-Ma-ZInG!!

Consider this a Breakfast of Champions. Add a couple slices of fresh avocado, ugh huh! Ridiculous! Why does food make me sooo happy!?

Hope you enjoy! Xoxo

Hot DAMN, was I sore when I woke up!
Hey guys! It’s Tuesday night and I’m catching up the rest of today’s post while I watch some news. I was super busy at work, so I didn’t get the chance to “blog as I go” today.
Late night post;)
This morning, I woke up, checked emails, took my cleansing pills, and I added my L CARNITINE to the mix as well. ( on an empty stomach)
Had a yummy breakfast of the Flax Banana squares and some espresso. God, really, I sound like a broken record. I feel like I just keep posting the same shit. This food doesn’t feel boring to me though..I actually really enjoy it. It’s only when you eat SHIT foods, that you think CLEAN foods taste boring;)
Anyway…I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast.
Anddddd, guess what?? It’s officially the last day of my 7 day cleanse!
You saw what I’ve been eating this week, not bad huh? I didn’t feel restricted at all!

After breakfast, I put some warm clothes on, grabbed the pup, and went for a 2 mile run. It felt so great. I stayed at a moderate pace, cuz Willy’s little legs can’t keep up:) ah. He’s so cute. When I got home, I did a little circuit workout in the “at home gym” I tried to make a video of what I was doing, and when I went back to see the footage, the light had come in through the window, making it nearly impossible to even see me because of the glare! ANNOYED.COM
I will try that again mañana.

I was so snacky today, it was pretty impossible to take pics of all the ” just a bite” snacks I ate.
This is just one of them that I can’t live without.
A spoonful of real, unsalted peanut butter.

Not pictured:

1/4 of a cucumber
1/2 cup of my RAW trail mix

Cacao nibs
Sunflower seeds
Coffee # 2

Don’t get too excited… More egg whites. At least scrambled this time.

& A handful of walnuts.

LUNCH: was leftover chicken breast, broccoli, a few bites of a sweet potato, and handful of cilantro with some siracha

Oh whatta ya know…. Chicken and hard boiled eggs.

Oh, and another Flax banana square;)

I also used this with my chicken. I am a HUGE fan of fermented vegetables. The taste is probably something that you will need to get used to. It grows on you, and now, I can’t live without it. It “regulates” me completely. If you are wondering why the hell I am eating fermented foods, here you go……
Fermentation is the process of cultivating lactic acid as a natural preservative to prevent putrefication. Starches and sugars in vegetables and fruits are converted to lactic acid by the many species of lactic-acid producing bacteria. It has multiple health benefits as described by Sally Fallon in Nourishing Traditions:

“The proliferation of lactobacilli in fermented vegetables enhances their digestibility and increases vitamin levels. These beneficial organisms produce numerous helpful enzymes as well as antibiotic and anticarcinogenic substances. Their main by-product, lactic acid, not only keeps vegetables and fruits in a state of perfect preservation but also promotes the growth of healthy flora throughout the intestine.”

Today’s outfit inspiration:

“That 70′s show tres chic”

Get the look on a budget:

Dress with slip: TJMaxx $ 24.99. D you see now why I am such a MAXXINISTA?! Great stuff for super cheap.

Sandals: Aldo no sale..$39.99
(Leather and super comfortable) Aldo now carries 1/2 sizes, which makes things a whole lot easier. I never quite fit the 7 perfect, and the eight was too big. I always asked the same ol’ question…. ” will they stretch out?” Haha

The belt:

A beautiful, thick, leather belt found at the local goodwill. Stoked on this find. Pretty much goes with anything high waisted. Don’t be afraid to hit up your local thrift shops, second hand shops are great places to find amazing accessories, etc. Someone’s trash may be someone else’s treasure eh!

Today’s “WORKOUT” inspiration:

I found this on pop sugar and thought, “I need this in my life”.You all hear me complaining all the time about there never being enough hours in the day, so this is the solution. An effective, quick workout that will have you burning calories all day!

I saved the best for last y’all! I am soooooo excited and proud to announce that, yours truly, will be attending this years Blend Retreat! Where bloggers and friends meet for a fun, fit weekend. This years event is held in Utah! It’s gonna be fantastic, and I can’t wait to get to know my fellow bloggers! Wooohooooo!

What are some of your plans this year that include being fit and active?

Happy Monday my lovelies! Great start to the week so far! Lots to do today! A lil’ cooking, a bit of baking, errands…and a gnarly 2 hr workout tonight.

This morning I tried out a new “milk” for my coffee, and I’m pretty much all smiles about it cuz it LA BOMBA! It’s only 45 cals for one cup! I only need 1/2 cup to froth, so I’m completely stoked on it. It’s almond freakin coconut. Doesn’t that sound outrageous? Happiness in a cup. Every Damn morning:)

You know me… I wake up starrrrving! And I almost always forget to take my pills first on an empty stomach, because my first reaction is to have a spoonful of almond butter or something right away. So annoying. I hate pills on an empty stomach, but I’m a rule follower. It is what it is. The cleanse is over Tuesday. Honestly, it’s been easy. I eat pretty much like this anyway, except for the occasional binge….or maybe the cheese thing… Yeah, I need to cut that down a bit. Hi my name is Paula, and I’m obsessed over the creamiest, stinkiest, ripest cheeses out there. That may or may not be my actual calling in life. Lol

Anyway, As I was researching healthy recipes ( daydreaming about cheese;), I stumbled across this lil JEM! Oh my HEALTHY and oh my GOD! This is a recipe adapted from and it’s full of protein and fiber, with practically no carbs!

Hungry girl got to baking by 6:15 am. I get the most inspired to be in the kitchen first thing in the morning, it’s really the darnedest thing. It’s my “me” time:)

All that fiber I was taking about, come from this. My favorite flax meal. Carrington Farms Flax Meal.
A great source of omegas too!

And all that protein I was goin on about, comes from this: my favorite banana, all natural, 0 carb About Time Protein

Alright let’s get you going on these Banana Flax squares!
I always, always make sure that I have this in my pantry for baking. It adds beautiful flavor.

Just look at these! It makes me want to have one, every hour, on
The hour! Heavenly breakfast this morning. And… NO, I didn’t eat all of these. Display only babes.
I did have two though;)

• 2 cups flax seed meal

• 5 egg whites

• 2 whole eggs

• 5 T olive oil (can use coconut or other oil) you may also cut the oil in 1/2 and replace with nonfat Greek yogurt for less fat. (Haven’t tried that yet, but I’m sure it would work)

• 1 T baking powder

• 1/2 teaspoon salt

• 1/2 cup water

• 2 packets Stevia

• 1- 1&1/2 servings of about time protein. Banana works well for a low carb banana muffin/bread flavor.

Mix all dry ingredients in one bowl and all wet in a separate bowl. Combine mixtures well and add together. Be sure to get out the lumps from batter.
This recipe, originally was used to make muffins, but, since I used a square pan, the timing will be different.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease an 8×8 pan. ( could also use a loaf pan, but may need a few extra minutes to cook)
Pour in batter and bake for 11- 16 minutes. Bakes pretty fast. So watch it. We don’t want that ish dry!

After my breakfast of champs, I was off to run my errands. First things first…get all the crap out of my car! It’s amazing how much you accumulate in the trunk! Geez. My first stop, was the body shop to drop off my sad lil crashed VW.

Anddddd. Here I am. At Enterprise. Just, what I wanted to be doing on my day off. Luckily my insurance covers a rental, otherwise…oh hello nahhhh!
Somebody got a Chrysler Sebring… OH SNAP! Hollaaaaa. Hahaha. I feel like I should be driving in the carpool lane on my way to a PTA meeting in that thing! My god. Lol

I took willy with my to enterprise, and they tried pulling the whole ” I’m sorry ma’am, but, we don’t allow dogs in the rentals. Mostly due to shedding…..
I said” “b*#%h, he’s hypo-allergenic! He don’t shed!” Ok, we’ll… I didn’t so much say that, but made it very clear, that my dog would be getting in the vehicle. Thanks byyyyeeeeee

We then took a little trip to his. Favorite place. PETCO. I got him some busy chews, cuz you know… He’s got the crazy in him.

Soooo stoked. He just wants to run wild in there!

Got home and munched on a few snacks.
Theses yummy raosted edamame
A handful of almonds,

And….some spicy kale chips from Brads raw foods.

I had a late lunch. I didn’t have anything quick to eat, so I decided to play around with some chicken I’d been wanting to make to get ready for my packed lunches during the week. Chicken breast can get a bit BORING if you ask me. I’m all about the thighs! But, as we know, the darker the meat, the higher in fat, so I tend to stick to the breast. It can also very easily dry out when cooking, so I think now, I finally got it down:)

The 3 MARINADES are:

I marinaded them separately. Literally just smothered them. Let them sit for 20 mins to ensure more flavor within.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Add 1 tbsp of coconut oil (or any other HIGH HEAT oil. Allow to melt in the pan on med- high heat. (The key is to first brown/sear the chicken underneath just enough to get that intense flavor and texture.)
Add your 3 chicken breasts to the pan. Doesn’t matter, right next to each other is fine.
Cook in pan for 5-6 mins. Check for searing/browning underneath.
Then remove from stovetop, cover with a lid, and stick in the oven for 15 mins.
Now, this will vary depending on the thickness of the chicken breast, so be mindful of that.

I enjoyed a few pieces of each, along with some steamers baby broccoli and a side of arugula tossed in Sea Clear.

So worth the wait. Super easy, yummy, NOT dry, and now I have loads left for the next 2-3 days.
This ends up saving you big time you guys!

After lunch, I thought I deserved a treat ;), so I had another flax-banana square. I just can’t help it. They are so good and hearty. No pic though;)
I had one more errand to run then I had to get back home to clean my mess of a house up.
That’s right…my passport is expiring in march, and I’m planing to take a trip at the end of may, so I HAD to send for a new one. Oh, and finally, a new picture! My old one was like, no joke, HIDZ!. It was a bit of a process, but, glad it’s done. Phweeeeee!
As I checked out my ID, I also noticed that, that also expires soon. Like, freakin THIS WEEK!
Ugh, FML.i totally didn’t realize that it expired that soon, and, on my bday! Do you understand what it’s like at the DMV?

I managed to get a whole lots of organizing and cleaning when I got home, put away the laundry. Playing catch up, really.

Mondays night is my Power Workout night. 2 back to back classes with Sandy Campy Fitness.
At 7:00 & 8 p.m.
So, an hour before, I made my BCAA water, stuck it in the fridge, and had a small dinner. I don’t like to eat anything heavy right before a workout, but I also don’t like to eat at 9p.m, so since I had a late lunch, dinner consisted of 3 hard boiled egg whites, a few cut up pieces of the chicken from lunch and a 6 almonds.

ZUMBA KILLED IT Tonight! Fresh faces, new choreography, and lots of energy in that room! That’s what drives y’all!
Jess and I like to snap sweaty, “after Zumba” fit pics! Haha

Tonight was the first time using my Polar Watch to monitor how many calories I would burn during both classes.
Generally, with Zumba alone, it tends to be 600 calories burned, so I was excited to see what an extra hour of strength training would do!
Check out all the girlies ready for some BODYSCULPTING!

This class is killer! And , with the combination of both Zumba, and bodysculpting, the results are almost instant. This is what takes your body to the next level. The cardio+ targeting and isolating of each muscle group on its own is what makes those changes that we are all looking for.
I get sore in muscles I didn’t even know I had or existed! That says A LOT for me, and I imagine, even more so, for those people who are new to getting fit.
In the end of my 2 class circuit, I burned a total of 900 calories. Such a happy girl! ;)

How do you start your your week off: are you planning meals or signing up for a new class?

SELFIE Sunday;)

In Breakfast, clean food, cleanse, Sunday funday, Uncategorized, WOD On January 27, 2013 3 Comments

Let me just say that I LOVE MY WEEKENDS! who doesn’t really!?
Never fails though, up at 5:30 a.m. Lol. I can’t sleep in to save my life. I watched drive last night, and fell in love with Ryan Gosling all over again ;) I managed to also make it to my bed instead of passing out on the couch. Hallelujah.

This morning I woke up to a foggy morning, and a cuddly pup. So nice. Got a bit of stuff done on the computer, took my cleansing pills, and reheated my two leftover AMAZEBALL pancakes!

I topped them with a bit of natures hollow sugar free honey and a few fresh raspberries. Yummmmmm.

Had my morning espresso, and the pup and I headed to the salon to do a client for the SAG awards at 8:30 am. No, I usually don’t take the pup to work, but the salon is closed on Sunday, and it was just us, so no bigs:) it was bring your pup to work day:)

I just love how dense these are…a bit of a pound cake vibe. So no hatin on that! They are gorgeous in my eyes. A bit food obsessed… Yes:/

Get ready for Sunday Selfies!! lol.
I had loads of plans today, in which most fell through, but I got to see some old friends and that was awesome! Headed to the folks house to drop off the pup.

Selfie #1.
I’ll admit it…I’ve become that girl.

I don’t know what’s come over me lately, but all I want all day everyday, is breakfast food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. What a freak!
Today’s lunch was at my Favorite Brunch spot. Egg Plantation. The best. THE BEST!

I’m admitting now…I had cheese…and a couple bites ( ok, more like 4-5 bites) of the most decadent peanut butter stuffed French toast.. I KNOW! Ahhhhh so naughty. I had to c’mon.
I ordered an egg white omelette. ( which came yellow. Hmmmmm…I wasn’t about to send it back though) with turkey sausage, mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, and CHEEEEESE! So much for no dairy on my cleanse! I’m sorry, I just love that shit wayyyy to much. But…. I have cut back, and that really should count for something, no?
Oh, andddddd, a side of fruit…annndddddd gluten free Udi’s toast.
Wow, now that I’m writing this….looking like a BIG girl right about now…

Best part of the day! Meeting up with ol’ friends, catching up, and this lil munchkin. I haven’t seen him since he was like 3 months old! He is the cutest, and sooooo smart. No, I’m not just saying that cuz I luv em’….
He already knows some sign language, he know kisses and hugs and sooo much more! Ahhhhhhh
I’m getting baby fever !! Omg!

Haha! Every time you say “kisses” he keeps his mouth open like “make out seshhhhh” haha. The absolute BEST!

Thank got we sat and chatted for a bit and allowed for the monstrous lunch to digest, otherwise I don’t think I would’ve made it to the gym!
On my way to LA fitness for a serious

I had a couple days off from working out, and I was getting the itch! I headed straight for the elliptical for a 60 min interval cardio session.

Alternating between resistance 5 incline 9 to resistance 10 incline 5. Cardio alone, I burned 571 calories.

Today’s strength training consisted of:
Leg lifts
Stability ball raises

Superman raises
Dead lifts
Back flys

Overall: 743 cals burned. Hopefully some of that stuffed French toast left my body! Lol
I felt fantastic!

A little word of advice….
“Don’t think about all the other things you could be doing with your time, just get your workout in, and then enjoy the other things. I promise, you won’t regret it” you’ll enjoy the day so much more knowing that you built strength within yourself physically and mentally.

Sweaty Nettieeee!
Shower time.
I promise… Last one. ;)

Super relaxed, and ready for some major protein in my life!
Dinner was CLEAN!
Roasted turkey breast
Egg white scramble with garlic and spinach
A small side salad with olive oil and lemon.
The turkey was a bit dry, but whateves.

Check out the creeper…..
Being SUCH a begger.
Ew… I hate when he does this, but, look at that face!
Dry turkey for the both of us. Haha!

A handful of sweet grapes.
I won’t tell you what I really want. Ahhhhhhem..( lemon meringue pie )
A girl can dream.

I now am in a protein coma and need rest….
Clean eating cleanse is going fantastic! Lots of movement going on in the tummy! Happy girl!
Stoked for another day off mañana.

How was your Sunday?
Did you get a workout in today?

It’s not about being skinny, it’s about being healthy.

Ohh SNAP Saturday! Coconut Flour Pancakes

In clean food, cleanse, popular recipes, protein, protein shakes, Uncategorized On January 26, 2013 0 Comments

Hi friends! Hope your Saturday is going great! While all of you have today off, I’ve got a full book of clients today at the salon! All good, but I’m ready for the weekend. Last night was a blast at the Laker game. I’m sure all of you noticed my late post.

So far the cleanse is going really great. My stomach feels flatter, I feel full of energy, and my intestines are happy:) today will be the 4th day, so this morning… I started off with ,y 2 liver organ cleanse pills on a empty stomach…along with my acacia fiber powder mixed with water.( I sound like a broken record, sorry. But repetition= habitual=results.

2 mini chia protein muffins(same as yesterday)

1 Scandinavian bran crisp with RAW pumpkin seed butter and sugar free honey. These crisps are fantastic because they are loaded with fiber and have no sugar! A great, clean option for while in a cleanse.

One thing I can’t NOT have, is coffee. I mean, I’m not having sugary, creamy coffee. It’s just espresso, a stevia packet, and 1/2 cup frothed unsweetened almond milk. That’s not bad right??
Anyway… I had two cups today:) don’t judge.

A handful of raspberries

A handful of RAW almonds.

A few blueberries.

A mix of antioxidants, fats, and proteins.

Ok, I promise, this is the last salmon lunch picture I will bore you guys with! Lol. Remember, I don’t like to waste food, so I’ve been having it everyday till its gone. I LOVE SALMON. High in protein, and a great source of essential fatty acids which actually help to aid in weight loss. Healthy fats are good babes! Plus, sometimes chicken just doesn’t cut it for me. In fact, I’ve been getting a bit annoyed of it lately. I guess I’ve played it out…hmmmm, like I do with many things in life.

Green tea with lemon.
green tea’s health benefits are astonishing! Research shows that it has potential to fight cancer and heart disease . Also, some studies have shown that green tea may play a role in lowering cholesterol, burning fat, preventing diabetes and stroke, and staving off dementia.

I try to drink at least one small cup a day:)

A very ripe persimmon. (My faves) at least it’s natural sugar;)

(Not pictured)
A few slices of cucumber

Another handful of nuts.

Before finishing up my last client of the day, I was feeling a bit tired and slow, so I had a small strawberry protein shake. 1/2 a packet of About Time strawberry whey, water, and ice.
Just a little pick me up:)

Tonight’s plan was to do absolutely NOTHING!
I very rarely just sit, relax and have no plans. I’m starting to realize how nice it is! If I’m not cooking, I’m walking willy. If I’m not working out, I’m at work. If I’m not posting, I’m sleeping! I mean, sometimes I really feel like there are not enough hours in the day to just sit and maybe enjoy a nice movie. That time should also be valued and not taken for granted.

Got home, took willy out, and decided that I wanted breakfast for dinner:)

Now, I’ve made plenty of different types of low carb pancakes, but I think this one is the easiest and super duper tasty!

When I found this recipe, I tripped out….because, guess what?

It’s only got 4 ingredients!

I originally found this on, and I doubled the recipe, but once I made them, I realized I really didn’t need to for a single serving. You will find that they are quite dense.
2 pancakes were really enough.

(For 2 people)

8 egg whites. I use the cage free egg white cartons cuz I hate wasting the yolk.

4 tbsp coconut flour

2 tsp vanilla bean extract or paste

2 pinches of cinnamon

Optional: stevia to sweeten if you are not gonna top them with anything sweet in the end.

You can really play around with what you want to use as toppers. I’m always a big fan of PB2 mixed with a little water, a sprinkle of unsweetened shredded coconut, and sugar free honey, you could also add fresh berries. Whatever!

Grease your pancake pan ( I use either coconut spray or smart balance spray)

In a bowl, mix all ingredients.

Use a spoon to dollop onto pan. The mixture may be a bit thick, so you might have to form them a little. Ugh, these were the BOMB, and healthy and appropriate for my cleanse. So satisfied right now.

I’m about to finish my post, and enjoy some Ryan Gosling in the movie “Drive” . I’ve been wanting to see this forever! S I’m gonna sit my ass down on this couch and enjoy my no gym day today;)
Tomorrow, I’ve got a client first thing in the a.m for the SAG awards, and then hitting the gym!

I want to KEep In Touch!! I want to see how you stay motivated, it helps me stay on track too! Follow me and I’ll follow you!

Who loves NOODLES!! I DO!
But… As we all know, I don’t really eat traditional pasta or starch noodles anymore, soooooo this is the BEST alternative. You guys, seriously…you’ve got to get into the craze of the fiber noodles. Whether it be “miracle noodles” or “pasta slim“, they take on whatever flavor you add to them, and the best part being that they are ONLY 25 calories per serving. I’m sorry, but you can’t beat that. If you know my blog, you know that these puppies are always on my grocery list. They fill me up, and I never feel guilty eating a couple servings of this.

This particular recipe is for a COLD ASAIN SESAME NOODLE SALAD.
you can whip this up in no time. Under 10 minutes.

When you open the package, they usually have a strange smell to them, but not to worry. What you will do, is stick them in a colander and run them under water for a few minutes.

The next step. Boil them for 3-5 mins, to soften texture and to get rid of the fiber smell.

Once boiled, let the noodles sit out to cool.
During that time. Get out your ingredients.
Thinly slice the cabbage ( I prefer the Chinese cabbage for this recipe)

Add the chopped green onions and finely minced garlic…

Add the sesame seeds…
( raw or toasted)
I prefer the toasted, more of a nutty flavor.

Throw the noodles to the bowl.
Add your Asian sauce consisting of:

sesame oil,

rice wine vinegar,

fish sauce,

liquid aminos

Get your hands in there and toss!

This noodle salad gets even better after sitting in the fridge for a bit. Soooo delicious. And NO carbs folks!

This is a great option if you are cleansing as well. I’ll be having this for din din!
Enjoy my lovelies!

Cleanse day 3, and the Lakeshow!

In clean food, cleanse, Fridays, friends, protein, Uncategorized On January 25, 2013 0 Comments

Good day beauties!
I am feeling SORE from the combination of my last 2 days of working out. Feeling good though!
Taking tonight off, cuz guess who’s going to the LAKE-SHOW! Meeeeeeeee:)
My and my bestie Amy are headed to the Laker vs. Jazz game at the Staples center tonight. Sooooo stoked. I haven’t been to a basketball game in ages.

I guess my birthday is getting an early start, cuz look what I got in the mail today! yippeeeeeeeeeeeee!

About Time Protein heaven!

Love my new shirt! Great to work out in.

36 packets of different flavor protein powders! I tried the strawberry one this morning. Delicious. Sometimes you just don’t feel like vanilla or plain chocolate, you know?!

This morning, I took my 2 pills on an empty stomach and fiber blend mixed with water after my real fast.Since I wanted to try out my new strawberry protein powder, I made some mini protein chia muffins adapted from, again, my girls at Purelytwins.

These little cakes are amazing. I made them in mini muffin tins, so that I would be aware of how much I was eating. I had a couple for breakfast, along with my morning joe. I also took 2 more to snack on for my after lunch snack:)

These are really easy and the best part is that you can use any flavor protein powder,

1/4 cup your choice protein powder. ( I used About Time strawberry flavor)

1/4 cup chia seeds

1/4 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp baking powder

4 tbsp water

1/4 tsp stevia (drops)

Bake for 7 minutes on 350*
For the bigger muffin tins, a few more mins.

Green protein juice. (Same one I made yesterday) I’m loving the combo! I’m gonna turn green if I keep this up. I think tomorrow, I may switch it up for the sake of boredom.

Lunch was again my favorite type of lunch, a mish mosh of everything healthy I could think of. Lol

Leftover salmon from last night.

Cabbage kimchi

Baby kale salad with sea clear probiotics as dressing

Roasted brussel sprouts

My poor co-workers were dying in the staff room.
Salmon, and kimchi= smelliest room ever. Another thing I need to do while on this cleanse, is try and not eat so damn fast. That is a HUGE issue I have. If I was out to dinner with you, I swear, I would be finished before you even lay the napkin on your lap. Yes, that bad. It’s like a train is chasing me. It’s been something that I’ve always known of myself, but always, either forget to slowdown, or I just simply can’t. Ugh.
It’s such a bad habit because I’m literally barely breaking down the food, so my body is working over time to do it for me! Annnnnndddd…..then I wonder why I have such a slow digestive track.
Again, the struggle is real, sighhhhhhhh.

My sorry ass paleo coconut wrap that dried up and cracked. Womp woooomp.
Whatever it was still delicious. I topped my cracked lil triangles with some almond butter. Super tasty little treat.

Also, had 7 raw almonds.

Tonight was a special night! It was the laker game against Utah jazz, and I was gonna be there! I absolutely love sporting events, so I was stoked! Even if you aren’t a fan of the sport itself…there is something in the air, a vibe, that just forces you to get into it, right?

They haven’t had a win in like 2 wks!

The bestie & I. The guys in behind us were probably like ” look at those girls, takin selfie shots at the tip-off” so embarrassing.
For the record.. I don’t care. I blog b*#ch. ;)

We both managed to stay away from all the naughtiness that comes with sporting events. You know…chips, popcorn, beer, candy, fries, burgers.
Instead, we opted for a lighter dinner:

I had a picnic salad. Which I ate with no dressing and left out the corn. (Cuz it has absolutely no nutritional value whatsoever)

Butttt……. I may or may not have eaten the shaved Gouda cheese on top…:/

Amy had a delicious barbecue veggie burger without the bun.

Healthy girls;)

Super fun night! Someone mentioned to me that I may be their Lucky charm

I got home, and poor willy was just dying to see me! I took him out for a potty, took my vitamins, had a spoonful of peanut butter, and passed out on the couch while writing this. That’s why you’re not getting it till this a.m….. I never pressed pUBLIsh.

DAY 2: Foods+Fashion+Exercise

In clean food, cleanse, fashion, get the look, popular recipes, protein shakes, thursday things, Uncategorized On January 24, 2013 5 Comments

Hey all!
It’s day 2 of the Body Flush, and I’m feeling like a champ! The difference has been outrages. My digestive system is very happy with me:) it’s a rainy day today in LA., so we’ll see if I am able to go running tonight. I am definitely not missing ZUMBA though. I’m off from work a bit early today! Yipppeeeeeeee

Today’s morning start:

2 cleanse pills on an empty stomach.
1 shot espresso with frothed almond milk.
1 scoop fiber blend with 8 oz water
8 oz green protein smoothie:

Bee pollen
Flax milk
1 scoop protein
1/2 tsp vanilla bean
1 tbsp hemp seeds

Life changed when I found hemp seeds!

Here are some helpful facts that you may not have known about hemp seeds.
I love sharing nutritional info! Lol

* All 20 amino acids, including the 9 essential amino acids (EAAs) our bodies cannot produce.
* A high protein percentage of the simple proteins that strengthen immunity and fend off toxins.

* Eating hemp seeds in any form could aid, if not heal, people suffering from immune deficiency diseases. This conclusion is supported by the fact that hemp seed has been used to treat nutritional deficiencies brought on by tuberculosis, a severe nutrition blocking disease that causes the body to waste away.

* Nature’s highest botanical source of essential fatty acid, with more essential fatty acid than flax or any other nut or seed oil.

* A perfect 3:1 ratio of Omega-6 Linoleic Acid and Omega-3 Linolenic Acid – for cardiovascular health and general strengthening of the immune system.

* A superior vegetarian source of protein considered easily digestible.

* A rich source of phytonutrients, the disease-protective element of plants with benefits protecting your immunity, bloodstream, tissues, cells, skin, organs and mitochondria.

* The richest known source of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids.

A I read my daily dose of morning bloglovin, I came across this little hot cake from purelytwins. I immediately grabbed a ramekin and whipped one up in 3 minutes.
When you cleanse, you crave stuff like this. This was PERFECT this morning. I can totally have these in the a.m. during my cleanse.

1 Tbsp chia seeds

1 tbsp coconut flour

2 tbsp carob powder or unsweetened cacao powder

1/4 tsp baking powder

2 1/2 tbsp water

15 drops stevia

1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste/extract

Mix all dry ingredients in ramekin, add water, stevia, and vanilla bean. Mix very well, It’ll be quite thick. You could also dab a bit of coconut oil on top. Microwave for 60 seconds, and you’ve got your very own HEALTHY morning dose of cake without additives, sugar, or high carbs.

Before leaving for work , I roasted some brussel sprouts with a bit of coconut oil, cayenne pepper, and sea salt. I may or may not have completely over cooked these bad boys, but whatever. I little crunch won’t hurt nobooooooody!

Snack 1:

A handful of cherries:)
Agua Fresca:

Juice of 1 lemon
Juice of 1 small orange
Shaved ginger

Today’s LUNCH:

Roasted Brussel sprouts

Baby kale with chia seed oil and liquid aminos.

Kabocha sqaush

Radish kimchi

1/2 avocado

Adding the squash in there helped to plump up the lunch, otherwise this wouldn’t of filled me up at all. I would’ve been hungry in 2 seconds. Pretty much the ultimate snacky plate:) the flavore all went really well together. I made enough brussel sprouts to take some to work mañana as well. I am leftover queen.

Snack 2:

RAW trail mix.

Flax seeds

Cacao nibs

Sunflower seeds.

Best snack ever! I usually munch on a string cheese or an apple, remember….NO dairy, NO sugar for 7 days, so this really was a treat. I love cacao nibs. Super high in antioxidants and dietary fiber. They kinda remind me of espresso beans. Simiiiiiilllarrrrrrrr.

I’ve got ZUMBA at 8 tonight, so I made a quick, easy, and delicious dinner an hour and 1/2 before.
I was craving some protein!

Salmon is on the plate tonight ladies.

Super easy!
First…. Pre heat oven to 350 degrees.

Make boats out of aluminum

Place a handful of spinach leaves at the bottom

Place the salmon on top.

Rub with crushed garlic

Sprinkle with salt and pepper

Juice of 1/2 a lemon

3 thin lemon slices on top

Close the boats, leaving room for salmon to steam inside, but make sure the seams are shut.
Cook for 20 minutes and 350*

I love , absolutely love cilantro, so this part is optional. Chopped cilantro makes everything better to me. Oh, and a bit of siracha is always lovely too;)
I ended up only eating 1/2 of this, which was a actually one serving. About 5 oz. ( the size of your palm). Along with a a handful of homemade curry, turmeric pumpkin seeds. That last thing I wanted was to feel full during class. Not a good idea. Ever. My stomach is in high digestion mode. Everything is going right through me. Really, It’s a blessing and a curse, if ya know what I mean.

Tonight’s class was booked. A solid hour of “shakin what yo mama gave ya!”
Sooo fun tonight, we learned a new dance! Woo-hooooo. My happiness continued when I realized I had burned 580 calories. I love seeing new faces in the crowd. Makin it happen ladies.

Oh bye…. Sandy Campy Fitness is offering new students a “CAN’T PASS UP” deal!
For new clients, she is offering 10 zumba classes for $55 dollars, and $75 for 10 buddy sculpting.
Even if you are already a Zumba student, you are still eligible for the new client rate to body sculpting, and vice versa.

580 calories thinner, me and my homie J fit decided to take a 3 mile run. We were dripping sweat I class, so we tried to bundle up as much as we could.

Feeling accomplished and whole. My insides feel fantastic!

Welp, yep, it rained on us the whole run home. Just lovely. Thank god I was warmed up.
We ran for Charity Miles ( Stand up to Cancer). Just under 3 miles. I started getting a cramp so when it was over, I wanted to pass the efffff out.

Andddddd for my favorite part of the week….

THE 7 DAY CLEANSE STARTS NOW! What I ate Wednesday:

In clean food, cleanse, fashion, life, Reviews, Uncategorized On January 23, 2013 0 Comments

Alright guys! I hope you liked the recap of my weekend with the girls. I really went all out though with the eating and drinking. I am not usually one to encourage cleanses, I always felt that your body did enough cleansing on its own, but…… In the case of this weekend, it was definitely needed. I really liked the idea of this particular cleanse because it didn’t involve starving for 14 days.
I absolutely hate the idea of the “Master cleanse”.
I mean, please. You are just drinking sugar water ladies. Get real.
With the Total Body Rapid Cleanse you continue with a very clean diet and incorporate the 3 steps that provide your body with the natural fibers and herbal extracts to healthfully cleanse your body from the inside out. I will be doing this for 7 days. Wish me luck cuz it’s my birthday on the 31st! Leave it to me to want to cleanse during my bday week. What the hell’s wrong with me. Oh we’ll, this is totally in order right now!
Let me give you a tid bit of info so that you can get a better idea of what exactly this cleanse provides and to see if it’s the one for you:

Fast, effective body cleansing formula

Soy-free, gluten-free

Great 7-day pre-diet cleanse

8 grams soluble daily dietary fiber

3-part advanced colon cleanse formula

Designed for fast body cleansing, healthy elimination and bowel health

Natural organ detoxification support

Total Body RAPID Cleanse™ is a 7-day, deep-acting total body & colon cleanse and metabolic jumpstart program

The liver is the most important detoxification organ in the body, and Total Body RAPID Cleanse Part 1 supports this critical organ with 4 amino acids and 6 herbal extracts. 7 herbal extracts are included to support the rapid and deep detoxification of the lungs, lymphatic system, kidneys, skin, blood. Contains potent herbal extracts, amino acids and Vitamin C for powerful antioxidant and deep-cleansing support.

Part 2 provides 8g of soluble fiber daily. For this 7-day, deep-cleanse, we have included 100% soluble acacia fiber. Acacia fiber dissolves completely when mixed with water and has no taste or gritty texture. Fiber is a critical component of colon cleansing, as well as organ detoxification and purification.

Part 3 is formulated with magnesium hydroxide (a mineral that helps to hydrate the bowel) as well as cape aloe and rhubarb to promote bowel contractions. Triphala, marshmallow and slippery elm are soothing herbs included to comfort the bowel during this critical cleansing step.

(On the right, under “specialty foods”

So.. I started last night. Easy does it.

Sautéed onions, garlic, Swiss chard, kale
With a side of kimchi (great for probiotics)
A few raw kale chips.
A scoop of the acacia fiber powder mix with 8 oz water
2 colon cleanse pills.

This morning:
2 morning pills on an empty stomach.
1 tbsp Raw pecan butter
1 scoop fiber blend with 8 oz water mixed well.
1 shot espresso with 1/2 cup frothed organic flax milk

This morning I also made a green juice to drink throughout the day, along with lemon/orange/ginger water.
Lots of fluids…all day.

Agua Fresca:
24 oz mason jar.
1 juicy lemon
juice of one small orange or tangerine
1 tsp shaved or grated fresh ginger

Cleansing Greens:
24 oz mason jar
2 small kale leaves
1 large green chard
1 large red chard
2 handfuls of spinach
1 pinch bee pollen
1 tsp vanilla bean extract or paste
1/2 cup purified water
1 cup unsweetened flax milk ( organic)

While I was getting ready this morning, I tossed some cauliflower in a tiny bit of coconut oil and salt & pepper and threw it in the oven for 20 min at 350*. Easyyyyyyy.

My lunch was leftover sautéed greens from last night. Roasted cauliflower, and a side of 1/2 an avocado.

I love eating clean like this. Especially at work. I hate when I feel super full during my lunch break, and have to. Do clients 20 minutes later. No thanks. So I think what works best for me, is smaller, cleaner portions, 5x a day.

Snack time around 3 o’clock.
Fresh cut cucumbers with 2 tbsps hummus.
With a bit of pepper of course.

Snack # 2:

3 Lydia’s organic Green Crackers
With kimchi
5 raw almonds

After work, I was dying to get a workout in, so I ran out the door to try and make the 7 o’clock ZUMBA class, but unfortunately missed it. Womp wooooooomp. But, GREAT NEWS…. I ended up staying and taking Body Sculpting instead. Sandy also teaches this class. ( check out instructor spotlight) This class is killer. I love it because we really focus on isolation, technique, posture, and of course, strength training. The way the class is broken down, is genius. Since I do cardio 4 days a wk. it’s nice to break it up with some serious strength training. Plus, it’s way more fun than lifting weights in the gym by yourself. The class was pact, but I managed to get right up in the front and focus on my posture. Tomorrow is ZUMBA, followed by a 3 mile run. Maybe 3.5 miles..depending on how I feel.
You see, this is why this cleanse works for me, or anyone who is really active. I can’t just, not eat, you know… Those starve yourself cleanses are a joke, I need energy and focus to get through workouts, so I have to replenish my body with clean and nutrient enriched foods. ESPECIALLY since I haven’t been on my best behavior the last few days… Tisk Tisk Paula.

The supplements slowly remove toxins, prepare and refresh your body right back to a healthier state.

This was dinner. Can you tell I’m on a cauliflower kick? I can’t help it sorry. You are more than welcome to switch it out for broccoli.

1 scoop fiber blend with 8 oz water
2 night eliminate pills
2 hard boiled egg whites
Cucumber slices with Sea Clear probiotics
Roasted cauliflower

A spoonful of raw pecan butter

Ok, now…lets talk fashion.
Today’s outfit inspiration….

Vest by: Vintage. Thrift store find. $10
Spiked red Shoes by: Zara on sale $20

Blouse by: Calvin Klein. A Marshall’s find. $29

Today’s mantra. Words to live by, really.

How do you cleanse after a full weekend of too much food and booze??

This seriously great article about how SUGAR IS ADDICTIVE.

San Fran GIRLS weekend Re-cap!

In friends, life, Uncategorized, Weekend Vac On January 22, 2013 0 Comments

My loves!! Hiiiiiiiii Mama’s back! Lol.
Well, San Fran was a total success! So much fun. We were crazy. You know what it’s like when you get together with your closest friends, all hell breaks loose. No, but really. Lol
Let me start off by saying the following:
I apologize for not posting all the meals during this trip, because they were absolutely ridiculous, in a very ” I can’t believe I just pounded that” kinda way.
We got a lot done though!
Lots to catch up on guys.
The three of us flew up together on a Friday night flight, and arrived in San Francisco around 9:30 p.m. Brooke picked us up and we drove to her place in Telegraph Hill. Aka, the cutest apartment EVAaaaaa! We ended up staying up till 1:30 am, drinking red wine and catching up. We passed out in the living room after too much wine. And don’t judge, but, This is how the rest of the nights looked as well. Cheese, wine…cheese, wine…goooooood lord.

I woke up to this beautiful view though. Can’t beat that. Usually when I visit Brooke, I like to wake up super duper early, and go for a run through the city, but there was none of that happening during this trip. Well, I mean, I would of, if it wasn’t for the fact that there had been a crazy rape that happened in the building right across from hers just a week ago. Even though they had caught the guy, I wasn’t comfortable running by myself early. So, to be completely honest, no exercise for me, except for the hours of walking around shopping for bridesmaid dresses.

Check out this heavenly view though…. Ahhhhhh.. You just can’t beat it.

Over looking the bridge. Clear skies for dayzzzzzzz!
A little taste of Brooke and Chris’s place.
Fresh flowers…always.
Great books.

The gorgeous couple. To marry July 27 2013 in St. Helena.

Fresh tulips, and the cute birdcage where Chris placed the ring for the proposal. I know…. Freakin tooooooo cute.

For sleeping on a couch, I’d say I slept pretty damn well. The copious amounts of wine perhaps helped, but hell, I slept in till 8:30. Absolutely unheard of in my books. I woke up the girls and Brooke got to brewing some of San Francisco’s famous Blue Bottle coffee. ( Next time you are in S.F…please try this coffee. It’s STUPID good!) we had a long day of dress shopping ahead of us, some of us got ready, and others helped make breakfast.

The first day and a half, I actually kept it pretty healthy, it was after that, that the pizza, croissants, and Thai food came along….
But, let’s start with this particular morning’s brekkie:

A delicious scramble made up of: Eggs, ( more whites than yolks) chicken sausages from Trader Joes, green onions, and zucchini. Clean breakfast, amazing coffee, overlooking the bay bridge, with your besties. Priceless.

Oh wait….hold up.
Can’t have wedding dress shopping without champagne! Since it wasn’t my turn yet to jump in the shower yet, I figured I’d get the party started with a lil champagne toast. I believe it was almost 11 a.m. So, no, I don’t feel bad. Lol

B-money: No make up, pretty as ever. Love her

We luckily got some really beautiful weather. It was so lovely out, I really only needed a light jacket. Lots of walking around today, so I wanted to be comfy. Boyfriend jeans, the best invention ever.

So off we went! First stop: Glamour Closet. This place wasn’t with appointments.

It was a bit more like, first come, first serve.
Let me just say what I’m thinking for a sec…. Why the F*#% would you put a bunch of crazy brides in one room, ( not to mention, their crazy friends and mothers) without appointments. That’s nuts. We walked in, and it was a total shit show. You could tell, these girls had been waiting in line before the shop even opened. “Um, excuse me, but, how long is the wait to try on dresses?”
” About two hours ma’am.”
We decided to put our names down, and come back later.
We have appts. Lady.
This place was funny…. They were known for really great dresses, at cheaper prices. It was all good, until the creepy lady with the mustache came out and made everyone uncomfortable with all her touching.
Brooke would try on a dress, and the lady kept grabbing her as if she was gonna fall off the damn pedestal. Sooo weird. Every time we would come up to touch the dress, she would look at us like ” Can you please, NOT”

Then I got in trouble for taking pictures. Apparently, not allowed. Whoops.

The next location we went to, I can’t really share with y’all… Lets just say… That’s where the magic happened. The girls working there were fantastic, and helpful. She tried on some amazing gowns, and we narrowed it down to two. Eeeeeeeek. This is happening! So happy. After all the excitement, we were starved. We stopped at the nearest restaurant and enjoyed this little beauty. A wedge salad, with diced hard boiled eggs, bacon, and pickles. Not pictured: a side of Parmesan baby broccoli. As you can see, we were still low carbin at this point;)

It had been a long day. We were ready to head home. We picked up our girlfriend Natalie, and headed to Trader Joes for some snacks. We had made dinner reservations at 8, but by the time we realized, ” oh, shit, we need to start getting ready!” It was 7:30 and we had consumed 3 blocks of cheese. Talk about a snack ATTACK!
I just realized at that point, that wine is a trigger for me. Wine = snacking= no self control.

So we flaked on dinner, and decided to go out on the town for a bit.

This is Natalie. Finally , the crew was in full.

These girls…. Nothing I wouldn’t do for them, nothing they wouldn’t do for me. My birthday’s coming up next week, and Alicia’s was last week, so this was a celebration weekend. I honestly can’t remember the last time I had all my friends in one place to celebrate my birthday

In our younger days, going to the bars was something we loved to do. Lol. Now, we tend to not be sooo into it. We walked into a mellow little bar in town, had a beer or two, had some laughs ( no cute boys). It wasn’t that it was boring, but I think we’ve become more homebodies as we’ve grown up.

Natalie wanted to check out some other spots, but as we walked out, we realized all we wanted to do, was go eat and go home like old ladies. Lol it was now like 12:30 so our only option was Thai food , really. Trust me, I wasn’t complaining. Love me some Thai.
The next mornin, we were up ready to go! We had lots of bridesmaids shopping to do. We decided to go have brunch at cafe Divine.

It was such a pretty day out, we opted for outdoor seating. Not the cutest outfit today. It was all about comfort. Again, lots of walking around, so I threw on my running shoes with leggings and a gap gym zip up. This place served a delicious breakfast. Our poor server was so annoyed with us though…

We are the absolute worst when we get together, I swear. We become so high maintenance. Lol
If its not one thing, it’s another. ” um, excuse me… Do you have almond milk?” ” can you froth it please, oh and extra hot please”
” Can I sub the potatoes for a salad… We’re on low carb:)”
” but can you bring the biscuit it comes with… You know, just in case I’d like a bite to try”
” can you take a picture of us please” ” another one…”
I mean… This is real. Lol we weren’t trying to be high maintenance, it just happens. ;) either way, our breakfast was DIVINE! Omelets, fruit, biscuits, mimosas…the BOMB!

Of we went, we walked through the Chinatown during their rush hour Sunday market, through the tunnel, and into downtown.

They get so over it when I’m constantly taking pictures. ;)

Ahhhhh, downtown San Francisco. I gotta admit, when I first started coming here, I wasn’t the biggest fan, but now, as I explore more of the city, I’ve completely fallen in love with it and everything it had to offer. I mean, look at this little eatery right in the middle of an alley. It’s gorgeous. It reminds me of home. ( Buenos Aires, AR) I could totally live here.

We were looking for a specific color pallet for the bridesmaids… Blush, nude, champagne. The look of the wedding is very, sort of country, so we weren’t looking for something too fancy. They didn’t have to match, as long as we stayed in the pallet. Easy enough. I ended up finding my dress at urban outfitters, of all places. To my surprise, when the girl rang me up, the dress ended up being on like, DOUBLE sale. It was originally $90.00. I payed $28.00!!!! STOKED
Hello bargain! We found Alicia’s dress at Macy’s. it fit her perfect. And although it was more expensive, she used a Macy’s gift card that she had which dropped it down a hundred bucks!
Kelly found her dress at Forever 21. I swear it doesn’t look cheap at all. It’s sooooo pretty!
This is where we had a little problem. We almost got kicked out of Forever 21. Lol. It wasn’t our fault. Obviously as a bride, you want to see how the dresses look on your bridesmaids, duh. Apparently your not allowed to do that there.
Employee: ” ma’am, you can’t stand here”
Brooke: “Huh? ok well then, I’ll try something on”
Employee: ” no you can’t do that, because I saw you just grab whatever. You’re not really trying that on for yourself”
Brooke: ” WTF. R you kidding me? I want to talk to your manager!”
Well, the manager was WORSE. She completely freaked out on Brooke, because she said, we were making her staff feel “uncomfortable” . She had no idea how to handle nor diffuse the situation. We were in the middle of trying on dresses, so we just told her, that if she wanted us out, she could just go ahead and call security. Hello!! I was still freakin naked in the fitting room, crazy lady!
Anyway, she never did, but how embarrassing if we were to have been kicked out of there! Haha
Actually, on my way out, I ended finding my bridesmaid shoes by the register.
I picked them up…perfect color…perfect size… Oh and best part…..get ready!
5 freakin dollars!
I danced my way outta there. BOOOO-YAAAA-ka-SHAAAAA.
That’s how it’s done. ;)

Before heading back to the apt, we went to Cheesecake Factory for lunch on the top level of Macy’s. how bout that view!

Skinny red sangrias all around! The menu said they came with fresh fruit…. So again.. Here it comes….45 minutes back n forth with the waiter about the freakin fruit that didn’t come with it, that should’ve. We just kept laughing at ourselves. We bring out the crazy in each other.

I ordered grilled chicken with grilled asparagus, bruschetta, and arugula. Sounds healthy enough. Problem is, and they ALWAYS do this here, they fill the bottom of the plate with oil! WTF. It was saturated. So weird. I still ate it. Lol, along with their famous brown bread. no one fought the waiter when he put down that basket. Lol. I was not hating on the bread this weekend!

Our last night together was so fun! We, of course shared some amazing wine, ordered a huge pizza and cracked ourselves up all night!

The bride to be’s BLING!

The next morning would be our last day in San Francisco. Originally we had planned to drive to the venue, check it out, have lunch there, and drive back, but we had to be at the airport by like 4:30. We figured it would be cutting it close, since it would’ve taken us 1 hour & 1/2 to get there.

We were hoping to get a call from Novella ( the bridal boutique where she found her two faves) to see if we could stop back in to try them on one more time before heading to the airport.

Do you see this right now!? This is how we pack for three days…as if we were going to another country for 2 wks.

A slow wake up on our last day….
We were sooo stoked when we heard from the bridal shop! They told us to come in at 3:00. And since we had already found everything else we needed, today was gonna be chill. We went for a walk around town looking for a nice breakfast spot. For some reason most places in North Beach don’t open till 11. So strange. We found a great lil Italian joint open, and walked in at the perfect time. 10 minutes later it was PACKED!

Ok, last food pic of the trip. Check out that croissant! Naughty girl. Done n done.

After a lazy walk back home from breakfast, we packed up our suitcases. Ugh, this trip was perfect. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. We took a bottle of crisp Italian wine up to the rooftop, enjoyed the view, and shared crazy stories for a couple hours before going back to Novella. Once there, we decided to just grab a couple more dresses to try on. You know, just to make sure. All of a sudden the two that we thought were “it”, now were just a memory. She decided against both of them. Low and behold came a JEM! A gorgeous dress that we came across last minute. We all knew…. This is “IT!”

Good day all!
I’m glad you liked the latest post on the About Time Protein. I just ordered 36 packets of different favors! STOKED. I ordered some strawberry flavored whey, so I will definitely be trying out recipes and sharing later on.

I wanted to share last nights dinner with you guys, cuz it was super healthy, gorgeous, and easy, and if you’re on a budget, a great idea. My friend Jules has also jumped on the low carb/low glycemic bandwagon with me, and is looking great! She made us a roasted turkey that she just threw in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. You can find whole turkeys at the grocery stores right now for a really great price.
She roasted some cauliflower, sautéed some onions, threw it all into the blender with a little fat free half & half, and viola!
Also, just tossed arugula in some blood orange olive oil and vinegar. Super easy, and delicious.

We ate right out of the roasting pan! Lol
It was soooo tender! 350 degrees for just under 2 hrs. Then you can keep the rest of it in the fridge to pack for lunches.

I’ve been getting some comments from friends to post more of my workouts, so here’s one that I love doing on the days where I don’t have much time to hit the gym. This is a great one to do right before you jump in the shower. It’s quick. Only 10 minutes.
I’m leaving for San Fransisco tomorrow with my best friends, so I’m trying to get in as much exercise as I can this week. Cuz, believe me, when us girls get together, we love to cook, EAT, and drink!

These mother effers are what I can’t have in my house…so I threw them in my lunch bag today to give to my coworkers. I just really can’t have this in my house. It’s torture.

I started taking the stairs instead of the elevator leaving the parking garage. You never know, maybe it’ll burn at least one of the chocolate square I ate last night :/

Small achievement but something is better than nothing. I found this on pinterest, and though it was was totally appropriate for todays goal. Everyday, strive for the best. If you fall, get right back up.

Today’s eats were really clean for the most part. This is the mantra that I’ve been trying stick to. Although sometimes hard, I know I feel the best when I stick to this type of diet.

Egg white frittata with cauliflower and kale, topped with skim mozzarella.

A handful of walnuts

Espresso with almond milk.

Raw trailmix

Roasted vegetables

Green salad mix

Roasted turkey breast topped with radish kimchi.

Water with lemon

Arugula with sesame seeds

Leftover roasted veggies

Brads Raw food kale chips

Mom’s homemade gluten free banana bread with a handful of blueberries

All in all, pretty good, except for…Now looking at it, I think I’m having too many nuts in my everyday diet. hmmmmm. Gotta change that a bit. They are just so yummy and snacky,  but easy to over do it.

It was a gorgeous day in LA today. 75 degrees. perfect. Any excuse to bust out my fave pair of grey suede shorts.

TOP: Free People on sale. $40.00

SHORTS: BCBG grey suede shorts with pockets. $49.99 on sale at the BCBG outlet.

SHOES: Lucky brand. Found at Ross for $30.00

8:00 p.m rolled around quick. I got home from work a little achy, so I laid in my living room and did some quick stretches before heading to ZUMBA. I ate my din before class cuz I knew by the time I got home, it would be quite late.

Did I mention to ya’ll that I’m gonna be leaving for San Francisco tomorrow? I’m glad I got one last workout in before the girls trip. I packed my suitcase in a super crazy rush (hopefully I got everything I needed) and took off to Zumba.

All cozy, beanie and all.

Sweaty lady. I was totally and utterly DRENCHED!

Of course I went  ALLLLL out and managed to burn 600 calories. There were lots of new faces in class, and they did GREAT!

I love seeing them get it. It’s sometimes not easy, but everyone BROUGHT IT HOME TODAY!

I LOVE THIS: I found this really great log that you could literally use everyday. It’s really fantastic. And, since receiving comments about posting more workouts and stuff, I thought this would be perfect to keep track of the daily progress, goals, and just seeing where my heads at, you know?

Ok I will tell you the truth… the whole “no Chocolate ” thing… yeah… already broke that. woops.

Tomorrow is a busy day, so I most likely wont be posting, but trust me.. I’m about to go apeshit on the pic sitch in San Fran. Also while there, I love to wake up the earliest. Before the sun fully comes out, I go out and run the city before it wakes…Speaking of this trip…

Number 1: I gotta remember to get my boarding pass early online.

Number 2: Renew my passport, apparenly,it expires in march! eeeeek

I cant wait For FRIENDS Time! lol

I dropped willy off at my parents house… Stress Free;)

See you guys soon. xo

OK guys! It’s that time! I promised that I would share my absolute FAVORITE protein with y’all, so, here it is!
Here’s the thing… A an active female, I’ve always been into incorporating protein in the way of powder into my everyday diet, whether it be a workout day or a day off, I love knowing that I am feeding my muscles with the right protein even during rest days. Up until recently, I had tried many different brands, and found one that I was pretty happy with.
Well, when I was approached by About Time Protein to see if I would be interested in trying out their product, I didn’t hesitate. I did my research on their company and saw a great deal of information that caught my eye, in a great way.
You guys know that I only recommend things that I, myself would love and use!

I’ve tried every brand under the sun. Lots of them, too much sugar. Some, too many carbs. Others, too many cals. I mean, you just can’t win.

Let me give you some background on this fab line:

About Time was developed by exercise and food science experts who were tired of misleading labels and inferior ingredients used in other supplements. They dedicate themselves to providing you with the right products and knowledge to live a healthier, active lifestyle.

They use only natural ingredients. 100% whey Protein Isolate.

About Time is:

  • Cold-pressed micro filtered whey isolate

  • No sugar added

  • No artificial sweeteners

  • No growth hormones

  • Diabetic friendly

  • No chalky aftertaste

  • Low cals. No Carbs

  • 25 grams of PROTEIN

  • Available in 11 delish flavors

I was lucky to try out 4 different flavors. The banana, chocolate-peanut butter, vanilla, and chocolate. This is why it took me a while to review this product. I wanted to play around with different ways to incorporate About Time in, not just shakes, but, in foods too. I was VERY pleased with the soft, subtle texture of the powder. Definitely NO chalkyness.

If you are even just considering a new protein for your everyday FIT life, I am telling you, look no further.

Why Whey:

Pre-workout: An hour before exercise, helps prevent muscle breakdown and stimulates the use of fat for fueling during exercise.

Post-workout: This is when I always take my protein. I consider it critical, especially when training hard.About Time helps stimulate protein synthesis and reduce protein degradation in your body. I take my protein within 30 minutes of finishing my workout.

Meal replacement:Great way to keep your metabolism in high gear, support muscle repair, and encourages a healthy immune system.

As a snack: Add into drinks or Bake into foods as a great on the go snack!

These are my experiments with About Time. So fun and delicious.

Now, for the first two examples, I used a Vitamix, but it’s not necessary. You can use whatever you’ve got.

For me, There’s nothing better than adding some green into my protein regimen. It aids in digestion, and adds a serving a veggies without feeling or tasting like it.

About Time Vanilla Green Smoothie

  • 1 cup Flax milk ( you could also use light coconut or almond milk) Unsweetened Vanilla
  • 3 swiss chard leaves
  • 1 pouch/1 scoop VANILLA About Time Protein
  • 1/2 a lrg banana
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean extract or paste
  • 2 tbsp nonfat greek yogurt. Fage or chobani are offer great 0% yogurt
  • A pinch of bee-pollen (optional)

About Time Choco-Nut Shake

  • 1 pouch/1 scoop Chocolate Peanut Butter About Time
  • 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 tbsp PB2 ( or you could use 1 tbsp all nutural peanut butter)
  • 1 tsp cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp low fat cottage cheese
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste/extract
  • taste and add stevia if preferred sweeter.

I consider this my “after night workout treat” it tastes like a naughty dessert, but really, it’s a super healthy and yummy way to get your protein in before your body goes into full rest mode.

Now come the YUMMIES!

Choco-Nut POWER Protein Cookies

  • - 1/2 cup peanut butter Or if trying for less cals, try 1/4 cup mixed chocolate PB2 and 1/4 cup all natural peanut butter
  • 1 pouch/1 scoop Chocolate/Peanut butter About Time Protein
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Make into rounds, and place on a greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 7-10 min.

These puppies cook fast, so keep an eye out. Also just have a feel at 7 minutes, they may be done, shouldn’t be too firm.

These are FANTASTIC! The flavors pop. I love having a couple with my morning coffee, before a workout, or as a dessert:)

They are super light , airy, and really, they take no time to prep and bake.

This was my FAVORITE recipe that I put together for the Banana About Time. I couldn’t stop eating these muffins! I became a banana-aholic! Check em’ out. You need to have these little protein muffins in your life, like ASAP!

Banana-Rama Protein Muffins

  • 1 pouch/ 1 scoop Banana About Time Protein
  • 3/4 Cup Organic Coconut Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Erithrytol ( or if using stevia.. use just under 1/4 cup. its way sweeter. and if using liquid stevia…even less)I prefer erithrytol or xylitol for baking
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 Cup Mashed Very Ripe Banana
  • 1 tbsp unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 Cup Liquid Egg Whites
  • 1 container 0% Greek Yogurt (fage or chobani)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract/paste
  • crushed walnuts (for topping)
  • cacao nibs(for topping)

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. (make sure to really mix this well, the coconut flour tends to lump up)

Mix wet ingredients in separate bowl.

Combine mixtures , consistency should be of a doughy batter.

I used these cute little paper tins, but you could just put them right in the muffin tray, it would probably cook faster.

Pre-heat oven 350 degrees.

Grease 6 muffin tins. ( like to use either smart balance spray or organic coconut spray)

Evenly distribute batter into tins, Top with crushed walnuts and cacao nibs, and place in oven.

Bake for 16-20 mins.

They were RIDICULOUS! Sooooo good!

I took them out when they were still quiet soft and let them sit out and cool. I dipped into one, and fell in love. It was pretty much a healthy single serving of banana bread! Also, lovely with that bit of crunch from the nuts and nibs which are optional, if you’re not into that.

Never do you have to feel guilty now for enjoying a morning muffin!

85 Calories, 1g Fat, 8g Carbs, 3g Fiber, 4g Sugar, 8g Protein!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post! I loved sharing my new FAVORITE protein. I am Most Definitely ordering more. Next time I may switch up the flavors to try some new recipes! If you don’t believe me, try it yourself. I’m hooked ;)

Turning a bad day… Into a good one…

In life, Never perfect, Sunday funday, Uncategorized On January 14, 2013 2 Comments

Yup… That’s my car…and yesterday had started off on the right foot. Damn!
This day just went from bad to worse, just read on…

On my way to do a client, I got on the freeway, as as I turned my head to switch lanes, BOOM!!!,
They all suddenly pressed their brakes right in front of me, no way I couldn’t hit them. Ughhhhh

Gotta get this fixed right away… Hey, that’s why we get insurance, right?

It get better.
I get home, and thought, “you know what would make me feel better?”
Ahhh, an Epsom salt bath. I was feeling stressed and tight from being tense during the accident, and was seeing signs of a premature headache, so it was just was I was needing.
Well…while I’m in there, I keep wondering why the water level is going down…. So naturally, I just adding hot water. Logical, right?

As soon as I get out, POUNDING at the front door, that sounded like either cops, or a raging jealous boyfriend. ( you know, that kind of pounding). I freaked, put on my robe, and hesitantly opened the door.
It was my poor neighbor panicking.
He took one look at me, ” Were you taking a bath?”
Me: ummmm yeah why.
Neighbor: cuz my ceiling collapsed and is flooding my house.
Me: oh no, I’m sorry.. But I don’t think it’s me, I don’t think I have any water anywhere. Hmmmm
Neighbor: you may wanna check your kitchen….
Me: ok………..HOLY SHIT, F*%#!

Yeah…water covering the kitchen floor, coming through the ceiling. Jussssssst perfect.

To top it off, this is the best part as the night was coming to end…. Oh and… I will spare your eyes by not sharing the sick pic, but, Willy had a a bone mid-day that I had forgotten to take away from him, and a few bourse later…freakin threw up all over the place!
I mean….. I just don’t even know what to say. Why do they pick the coziest places to throw up, huh? My area rug, even went upstairs to , so graciously leave me a present on my bedspread. Why can’t you be sick on the DAMN HARDWOOD!!!
I just really loved finding that on my bed.

Nice, full bag of soaked towels I gotta wash.

Ok, I’m done with the pity party. Since the horrible disasters, I turned my frown upside down. :)

#1: I took my 2nd spin class ever today! Super positive experience, although, it was sooooo hard!
I had met up with a girlfriend at crunch gym, so that I could try it out, and we had a blast. Sweaty ladies!

#2: I found the best almond milk!

30 calories per cup and no carbs.
Get into it.

#3: Egg whites, and low salt turkey breast

#4: Pre-cooked rotisserie chickens at whole foods.

#5: Tuberoses. My favorite smelling flower. I wish I could have them all over the house.

#7: Ibuprofin. Lol

Be grateful everyday.

I’ll be sweating out the crazy weekend at a double class tonight with Sandy Campy Fit.
Zumba at 7
Body sculpting at 8

Question of the day:

How do you push away negative thoughts and turn them into positive ones?

ZUMBA Instructor SPOTLIGHT: Sandy Campanella

In Reviews, spotlight, Uncategorized, zumba On January 14, 2013 0 Comments

I am soooo excited to do my first ever INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT!!!!

As you know, since last August, I have become completely ADDICTED to zumba! It’s changed my life! I have never had soooo much fun working out, I swear. When I walked into the studio for the first time, I gotta admit, I was a bit nervous. Sandy was so sweet, and assured me that it didn’t matter if I knew the steps or not. She said, ” Just make it your own, have fun with it, and the coordination will come” Well, now…I am always in the front of the class, going FULL OUT every time! I never thought that I would feel confident enough to do that, but her energy, and motivation pushes pushes me to work that much harder! I promise, you will feel the same!

Sandy’s passion for dance, music, and encouraging people to get healthy, is contagious.

So, I approached Sandy about doing a write up. About her, her style, and how to get started. I am all about promoting upcoming people, or businesses that I believe will be the best advocates of healthy lifestyles. Trust me, I wouldn’t be doing this if I wasn’t such a BELIEVER and so PASSIONATE about this FIT program. She doesn’t just teach fitness, she LIVES it.

We did a little Q & A that I hope will inspire you to make a change this new year!

FF2F:hat lead or inspired you to becoming a Zumba instructor?

SC: What led me to become a Zumba instructor was all the many years I was involved in dance. I grew up dancing Folkloric Dance and Flamenco in my hometown of San Antonio, Texas. I LOVE Latin music; it moves me to no end.  One day I was watching TV (which I rarely do) and was flipping through the channels and ran across “Zumba Fitness.”   I thought, “I want to teach that!”  A month later I was certified.

FF2F: What are the benefits to this type of exercise?

SC: There are many benefits to Zumba.  It’s a full body workout, which means you’re going to burn more calories. I have seen some amazing transformations in students who come three times a week. It’s also a GREAT cardio workout.

FF2F: do people need dance experience to take a class like this?

SC: You definitely don’t need dance experience to take a Zumba class. You need only to be willing to allow yourself to have fun and connect to the music.  Because I repeat a lot of the routines from week to week, my students who come on a regular basis get to know the routines well. The key is to not give up and to be patient with yourself.

FF2F: how long does it typically take to choreograph for your class?

SC: When I choreograph a new routine, it takes me a couple of hours. I want to find the balance of the fitness and dance element of the routine, which can take me time to find.  I always have my students in mind. I want to challenge them and yet not make the routine to difficult to follow.

Every week I make a new playlist, and that takes me about 20 minutes. I pay close attention to the order of the routines so as to challenge my students and to help them get the best workout.

FF2F: what keeps your business thriving?and why would someone choose this class?

SC: I think what keeps my business thriving is the fun factor.  I really do love what I do, and I have so much fun doing it. It’s also important to me to know my students’ names, and that, I believe, makes the environment a safe one and more personal. I also have some AMAZING students who are so supportive of each other and any new student that comes to class. I’m a lucky gal.

FF2F: what are the future plans for Sandy Campy Fitness?

SC: As for the future of Sandy Campy Fitness, I hope to add more classes. I think the key to success in fitness is variety, the time you work out, the instructor, the type of workout, etc.  I hope to add a Self Defense/Body Sculpt class and maybe a Yoga/Body Sculpt class and eventually fitness classes for kids.

FF2F: do you offer instructor training?

SC: Right now, I do not offer instructor training.  However, I encourage my instructors to come often to my classes, free of charge, so they can become familiar with how I teach and with the students.

FF2F: what words of advice can you give people struggling to get fit for the new year?

SC: It’s important to make exercise a part of your daily life. You need to make it a habit, so that, regardless of how you feel on any particular day, not exercising is not an option. Exercise and connecting to my body has gotten me through some challenging times in my life. It’s like hitting the reset button. After a hard workout, I say to any challenge, “BRING IT ON!”

FF2F: Where can we find sandy campy classes and info?

SC: You can find Sandy Campy Fitness at Independence Dance Company, 11108 Huston Street , North Hollywood, CA 91601. You can find my class schedule

Sandy Campy Fitness is offering a GNARLY GROUPON DEAL!

Running motivation for the NEW YEAR!

In running, Uncategorized On January 13, 2013 2 Comments

Hey guys! Today, this post is dedicated to my RE-inspiration of getting my feet back to the pavement. As you know, this past year, I ran my first ever 10k, and was completely hooked. I surprised myself with how well I did actually. I had always been active, and worked out, but had never built the endurance of a runner, so I had to start at zero. I created a training schedule to keep me on track, and to get my body used to running more than one meeeeezzly mile. (the most I could do then. Yes.. believe it.) In 2 months, I was comfortable running 6 miles without stopping to walk.

Since then, (october) I’ve consumed my workouts with with other fun activities. You know I get bored;), but I think it’s time to get back into it. I miss the feeling of accomplishing a race. To me, Ms. Competitive Lady, the best motivator is a bit of fun competition! I’m sure you can relate, right?

There are a lot of things that you sure take into account before deciding to hit the streets. Mostly because it can get boring, painful, and difficult, so a lot of people give up because they just end up hating it.

Listen, I’m not saying everyone is built to run 26 freakin miles, but the point being, that running can be a great asset to an everyday FIT life. Remember… 1 mile is more than none.

I’m back to training now a couple days a week, and wanted to share some great tips with you guys to maybe give you that last little push that you may need;)

Why having a running partner works:

1. You’ve heard it before, but it’s so true: There’s nothing like good conversation to make a run fly by.

2. A partner can help troubleshoot your running form. Have him or her look at your stride and point out what you’re doing wrong.

3. Partner running is safer. Particularly for women and during nighttime running, you’re much less likely to encounter trouble if you have company.

4. Partners are good pacesetters. If you have a hard day planned, call Speedy. He or she will keep you honest. Likewise, if you want to be sure to run easy, set a running date with Slowpoke.

5. A partner is the perfect pick-me-up when you’re bored with your running. Or with life, for that matter. If nothing else, you’ll have someone to blab to about your problems.

6. If you’re apt to miss running days for no good reason, a running partner will help. You won’t want to disappoint a friend by being a no-show.

7. If you’re tired of the same old running routes, a partner is sure to know some different ones.

8. Partners make great alarm clocks. If you’ve always wanted to do more morning runs, find a morning person to run with. Added benefit: You’ll be better acclimated to those a.m. races once you’ve done some a.m. training.

Reasons to sign up for a race now:

  1. To test the waters: You don’t have to convince yourself to sign up for a marathon; there are many smaller races that will give you the sense of accomplishment and help you decide if running is for you. 5K races, for example, are great for new and experienced runners alike; even if you’ve clocked longer races under your belt, 5Ks are a great way to test your speed and improve on your time. If you’re new to running, five kilometers (or 3.1 miles) is the perfect distance to tackle as a beginner. If you’re new to 5Ks, here’s a5K training plan for beginners.
  2. To stick to your goals: If you’re like most of us, your New Year’s resolutions include a new (or better) fitness regimen. Signing up for a race now will help you not become a member of the broken resolutions club. After you sign up for a race, look for a running club to join; training for a race with newfound friends will further ensure that you stay motivated and on track.
  3. No last-minute diet plans: Sign up for a late-spring marathon now and you’ll have ample time to start a four-month marathon-training plan. Committing now will help you finish your race like you want to, but will also help you stay ahead of the game when it’s bikini weather; you won’t have to resort to last-minute diets and crazy fitness regimens when Summer rolls around.

Below, I’ve listed some of the upcoming races in the area. Isn’t it crazy how many there are?! Now, just choosing one….

Why strength training matters:

Runners often overlook strength training for the upper body, yet this conditioning can yield major gains in respiratory efficiency, core stability, and running economy. The mechanism here is muscle strength, which improves performance and prevents injury.

The area of a muscle correlates to the amount of force it can produce; bigger muscles produce greater force. Resistance training can increase the size of the muscle–but it can also enhance the nervous system’s ability to coordinate the contraction of muscle fibers, which also contributes to greater force. In runners, the goal is greater force without increased muscle size, or developing a big engine in a light chassis. Training duration, volume, and intensity are all variables that determine whether this desired outcome is achieved.

Finding the shoe that fits:

There is nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable while running. When the shoe is wrong for you, you tend to change the  way you run and land, which can sometimes cause injury. Avoid this, by stopping into a running store and getting properly fitted for your style. The best thing about doing this, is that they will have you run in front of them to get an idea of your habits, style , and movements. Below, are some of my faves that I’ve tried before, and had lots of luck with. Find your favorite!

Apps & playlists:

I know people who run with nothing but their own breath, and that’s fine, I’m just not one of them….

I need to stay pumped up, you know?

You can do this by creating a playlist through pandora, spotify, or from your Itunes library!

Not only do I need some serious tunes, but I need to stay motivated by hearing my improvement during my workout. The apps below are the best ones to keep you on point.

Before Those First Steps!

There are very few people who should not exercise because of cardiovascular, structural, muscular, or other problems. It is very important to ensure that you are not in this risk category.

  • Before beginning any exercise, diet or other improvement program, be sure to have yourself and the program evaluated by specialists in the areas you are pursuing.
  • Specific structures and problems of individuals may require program modifications.
  • In each area, find specialists who are also knowledgeable about the positive and other effects of exercise and running.
  • Ask several respected leaders in the fitness community for recommendations of specialists.
  • Always back off any exercise or program when you feel any risk of injury or health.
  • The benefits come from regular exercise and steady adherence to a long-term program.
  • Never radically increase the amount of exercise or drastically change diet and other health elements.
  • Joining a group helps motivation!
  • Have fun and you’ll want to continue.

Are you getting stoked?!

well, one last thing.

Hello lovely readers! How is everyone? I’m wondering if everyone’s resolutions and goals are on track…. I’m feeling pretty good so far about mine! These last ten days, I’ve been on POINT! although, I’ve been having the gnarliest Mexican food craving, and last night I almost flaked on ZUMBA and running to go gorge on chips, salsa, and oo. margaritas, ugh it sounds soooo good, even now. Seriously, the struggle is real. The point is, that I managed to turn my thoughts of ” Oh hello yesss, I’m about to do werrrrk on some serious mexi” to ” EFFFF yesss, I’m about to dance my ASS off, and fell amazing!”

Thursday started off really nice, and slowwwww that is. It’s been soooo cold, that I just can’t seem to want to get up. Even to pee for god’s sake. Sooo cold! So not into that. Once I finally got up, I went straight into the kitchen, still half asleep, and made my cup of coffee. Managed to get some work done on the computer, which I desperately needed to get done, since I knew it was a super busy day at the salon, and I wouldn’t be able to step away to even read emails.

My favorite time of day, is morning. This is when I get most of my inspiration for recipes, willy is the cuddliest, and I get to enjoy my candles in my robe and slippers. I LOVE IT.
As you are aware of my eating schedule, you already know that I wake up absolutely STARVED as soon as I wake up, so, I took my iPad into the kitchen, and looked for something yummy and healthy to make for breakfast;)

As I did my ritual of flipping through my favorite blogs, sippin on coffee, when I came across a super ft breakfast idea from fellow fit blogger, blogilates. She had a recipe of an über healthy, yummy looking muffin, that was literally cooked right in the microwave.
The INGREDIENTS are 5 things!
Mine unfortunately doesn’t look as pretty, but hey, you can’t win em’ all, huh?

I gotta admit, I actually quite enjoyed it, and knowing how clean it was, I enjoyed it even more! ;)

- Less than 1/4 cup quick oats

- 1 egg

- 1 tbsp almond milk

- a handful of blueberries

- 1 packet of stevia

These were her instructions, which I pretty much followed to a T.

Place in the microwave for 1 min. Watch it carefully! This could overflow!
If the muffin top does not look firm, place back in 30 sec at a time.
Once ready, flip mug upside down onto a plate and slice some fresh strawberries to decorate.

Pretty cool right?

Before leaving, I took Willy for a quick walk, packed a healthy lunch for work, and made a delicious chocolate protein shake with my new favorite protein, ABOUT TIME PROTEIN. The folks at About Time were super sweet and sent some samples for me to try out, so that I could share with ya’ll my thoughts and reviews. I am a huge lover of protein shakes, and with the way I like to work out, I definitely need my protein. For on the go, a shake is the best way to consume it. I will be doing a FULL post dedicated to different ways to utilize this great product. Protein baking, protein shakes, OH MYYYYYY;) be sure to stay tuned for the review, lots of info comin’ your way babes;)

Favorite late morning snack lately!
Raw cacao nibs
Raw walnuts.
BOMB, and pretty much a ritual now. It’s funny, I used to HATE walnuts.

I snuck in a DOVE dark chocolate. I like one piece everyday. My allowance I guess;) I had to take a pic of the inside of the wrapper… Made me laugh…they’re really wanting you to feel good about eating chocolate. Even once you’ve already had like, 10, just keep readin! Those lovely little sayings, and you won’t feel like a cow, right?

I won’t bother with a pic of my lunch because its literally the same thing I had in my last post… Lame:)
But healthy girls pack lunches, and even though repetitive, it keeps me from eating shit.

But hold up… I gotta share this delicious vegetarian dinner I created before I left for Zumba! I took like a million pics cuz I was so excited, and it was beautiful.

- 1/4 onion chopped

-1/2 a shallot thinly sliced

- 1 tsp chopped/ minced garlic

-1 bock choy

- 1/4 cup chopped red pepper

- 1/4 cup chopped green pepper

- 1/2 cup sliced mushrooms (you can buy a bag of em’ already prepped at TJ’s)

- 2 cups chopped kale

- 1 Japanese sweet potato (amazing!, and purple inside) But really, you could use any sweet potato.

- salt & pepper

-1/2 tsp crushed red pepper

- 1 tbsp red wine vinegar

- 1 tbsp coconut oil

- 1 tbsp brown rice miso

- 1 egg (poached)

- chopped basil for garnish

Ok so, typically you wouldn’t catch me dead eating egg yolks but for some reason… my body was screaming for it. I know, weird. When everyone says, “it’s always better with an egg on top” holy shit, were they right!

This was great for an easy dinner before heading out. I had all the ingredients in my fridge, so I chopped them all up, threw them in a wok and done!

Throw the sweet potato in the microwave first, for a couple minutes, so that it doesn’t take you forever to cook it through in the pan. in there for a couple min at least, or just keep feeling for softness.

throw veggies in the wok, with salt, pepper and spices. Add in vinegar and miso, keep stirring.

I would keep the heat on medium, if it’s too high, you may burn the veggies before they even cook.

when almost done, in a separate saucepan with boiling water, poach an egg. I just put the raw egg in a big sauce spoon, and dipped it slowly into the boiling water, until it sort of stayed together. a few minutes is all it really needed.

Garnish with a bit of chopped basil and salt and pepper.

(this was my first time trying the Japanese sweet potato, and I am hooked! Sweeter than any typical sweet potato I’ve ever had)

Off to Zumba I went…..

But, I wanted to share my latest kitchen obsession! I took a pic, right before leaving.

The CHALKBOARD! Genius. Now, I can use it to keep try of ingredients, cooking times..etc! ugh LOVE.

Class was FAN-Tas_tIc! Super fun. I love all the ladies in there, really inspiring, and you can tell, everyone just really enjoys being there. I like that energy. I wore my polar hear trate monitor, and tracked our 550 cal burn. Awesome!
After class, Jess (the one in the pink) went for a 3 mile run. Yes, in the freezing cold. Holy shit was I COLD! We wore soooooo many layers, beanies, gloves, you name it, still couldn’t manage to get warmed up.

A little inspiration for y’all:)
I’m taking Friday and Saturday off from working out, and get back on it Sunday.

Favorite Product Spotlight:
I’ve been using this toner about a month now… And am totally into it. It smells heavenly and isn’t harsh like your typical clean & clear toners, which have a lot of alcohol in them. Leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated. [The Grapeseed Company]( is dedicated to handcrafted Eco-friendly products. I really like the fact that they are a smaller company from Santa Barbara, and use really great organic ingredients. Feeling that!

Get the Look…& a COOKIE too hard to pass up…

In fashion, get the look, popular recipes, Uncategorized On January 9, 2013 1 Comment

Ahhhh, good ol’ Wednesday just flew by, didn’t it!? I’m writing this wed night, but you probably won’t see it posted till tomorrow. I gotta check my settings, cuz I think it’s only notifying every 20 hrs or so, not sure. So, sorry on the “late” status:/

Anyway…. Yesterday was a really intense workout day, I gotta say. I know I’ve got some energy to burn, but shit. I did an hour on the elliptical in the a.m., then, ZUMBA at 8:00 p.m THEN, a 3 mile run! I know, I’m weird. I felt great, until I got a cramp in the arch of my foot! Ughhh. Before the run, I had to really stretch it out.

I got home, and realized I had not opened my package that I had received the day before. LOOKIE HERE! My Nespresso pods for my perfect Pixie Espresso machine! I can’t survive without it. A bit dramatic, but only to those who don’t drink coffee, and we all know, they can’t be trusted;) I couldn’t wait to fall asleep so that I could wake up and have my cup of joe!

Well, my adrenaline  kept me up later than I was hoping (cons to late night workouts),so I definitely was not working out this morning. I got some work done, and relaxed with willy instead. I recently got approached by About Time protein to do a review on their product, so this morning, I played around with different ways to utilize the protein. I received a few different favors, and I really think that it’s gonna be the new BIG thing! My review and recipe ideas will be up next week, so be sure to keep an eye out, especially for those looking for a protein powder that is on the leaner side!

This was taken this morning (wed), at work. Enjoying my morning ritual green drink with About Time protein. The BOMB!
I also enjoyed a delicious cookie this a.m made from the same protein, but different flavor. Also amazing, and can’t wait to share. ivew always been a Collagen Sport kinda gal, but, I was eager to try this new brand, cuz it screams PERFECT FIT FOR P!

Snack was a handful of raw walnuts, and a handful of grapes, oh…and a small guava.

Lunch was a random. Spaghetti squash I had baked in the oven last night, and some cold Asian style “miracle noodles” with cabbage, sesame, and other yumminess. (you can find these under tools/devices for the kitchen, just scroll over to specialty foods)

For dessert, I hade a huge Asian pear, that was as sweet as a mother trucker. I’ve been having lots of fruit cravings lately….

This evening was supposed to be a Zumba class, or body sculpt class, but I got home from work, and realized…yeah, I ain’t goin noooowhere.

Tonight’s dinner was a fiasco of me trying out a new recipe of spaghetti squash latkes, which tuned into a this. I don’t know what kept happening, they wouldn’t crisp up, so it ended up more like a scramble. lol. Whatever, topped it with a little parsley and viola! Still super yummy. I enjoyed with a glass of Pinot, and a protein cookie for dessert;) I always have to have something a bit sweet in the mix, you know me.

I wanted to share today’s look with y’all!

Helllllooooo gorgeous friends….
Let me start off this post by introducing my ridiculous, gluttonous ass dessert from last night. Yikes!
Friends don’t let friends eat SUGAR! FML.

Well, it was delicious, but I knew I would be paying for it in the morning…..
The pretty playing also doesn’t help.

Up at 6:00 though…kicking and screaming. ;)
I decided to try a fasted cardio session this morning. I’m typically the type who likes to nibble on something small before a workout. For some reason, sometimes I get nauseous with nothing in my stomach. But today, I was in desperate need to burn off the late night cals.
So I put a few scoops of BCAA in my water bottle and took off to LA Fitness.
I woke up super tired, and a bit unmotivated, but I persevered! ;)
Once I was there, I turned to beast mode. Duh.

Once I learned of fasted morning cardio, I was hooked. I do this for a week, after a couple days of naughty eating. This is to really lean you out. I don’t do it on the regular, but it’s definitely something in my program …as a go to.
Now, this is something that has to be balanced out with proper nourishment after your workout.
Also, the type of cardio makes a difference as well.
The best combo would be:

- 45 min – 1 hr of HIIT.
- This a.m. I did 1 hour of intervals.
3 min resistance 5..
2 min resistance 10
- This will have your heart rate guessing, helping us to burn more, for longer.
- Drinking BCAA during workout
- post workout, make sure to feel body and muscles with very lean protein.
Egg whites, protein shake, lean meat, lite dairy.

So, I gotta share this… I’m PISSED. this damn machine’s calorie count was sooooo said that I had burned almost 800 hundred cals in my hr workout. There’s no way. I mean I worked out hard, but really??
Yeah, definitely something wrong. I had entered my weight, age, all of it.
Soooo off.

Of course, I had on my polar watch and was also wearing my heart transmitter, so I was able to get an accurate calorie count. Thank god. But, you know what? I’m pissed for the people to don’t have access to a watch like this. I mean, poor girl thinkin’ she’s burning all SORTS of cals, little does she know, she’s gotta work a lot harder than she expected to get that number!

Anyway, that was a rude awakening, I’ve had it be off by 50, 60, but by like 200. Get real.
After the gym, I knew willy would be waiting by the door like a little creep, so I rushed home to take him to the park.
He just got a haircut, adorbs. I finally got the groomer lady to stop makin’ him look like a girl!
“I get it, he’s part poodle, but can you puuuuleaseee stop making my dog look like a bitch” is really, what I wanted to say, but clearly too nice to;)
Finally got him to look like the terrier lil boy he is;)
It was a beautiful morning! Not too many folks with their dogs out, so I let him run free for a while.
He ran himself out, which I LOVE, cuz it relaxes the anxiety for when I leave for work.

I stopped him in his tracks, for a photo op. we wanted to show off his pearly whites:)
I swear, he’s like a boyfriend, always acting annoyed to take a damn picture! Lol

Tonight’s plans are as follow:

RUN 2-3 MILES WITH JESS (friend from Zumba, we wanna start training together to perhaps enter in a another race.)

I wanted to leave you guys off with something VERY special.
This beautiful healthy recipe. I know, the picture has got your mouth watering. Don’t lie.
I made this, this weekend and just could not wait to share.
I’ve been working on my food photography, and I’m starting to see a little improvement…what do u think. Any suggestions boos?

Anyway…click, and be ready to be blown away!

Love y’all.

Gloomy Gorgeous Sunday

In family, local shopping, Sunday funday, Uncategorized On January 7, 2013 3 Comments

My favorite day of the week….SUNDAY.
Last night was my first experience at Supercross. It was nothing like I have ever experienced. It actually was super cool, and although I was in and out of passing out, (exhausted from a full day of clients) but non the less, very exciting, different evening:)

My body decided to sleep in till 7 am this morning. I know, weird. I had to head over to the parental unit’s house today to pick up willy, and of course to hang with the folks & BBQ:) not too much planned for today, precisely why I love Sundays…it’s a free for all. I started off with my ritual cup of espresso and almond milk, so creative…lol.

As I looked in my fridge looking for what I should stuff in my Vitamix, I realized I had absolutely nothing! No kale, no chard, No NOthin.
So even though the forecast called for rain, I took my cozy lil ass on to the farmers market.
Turned out to be a gorgeous morning, with a few rays is sunshine.

Hiiiiiiiiii, yes, I stocked up. Homegurrrrl went nuts.
I never go there with a list, obviously. Too many goods to limit myself, so I watch myself by only bringing 2 recyclable bags with me.

I came home with some beautiful fruits and veggies.
- rainbow chard
- kale
- cauliflower
- broccoli
- Fuji apples
- persimmons( last batch of the season)
- onions
- carrots
- green onions
- cilantro
- ginger
- sweet potato
- Japanese cabbage
- crimson grapes

All organic, and at very great prices.

Check out these sweet carrots. These would be perfect as a side dish. They are stunning in flyover and color.

Really, the main reason why I rushed to the farmer’s so early, was because I wanted to make a green protein smoothie. So as soon as I got home and organized…. I made my tummy happy.

I did a little something different this time.

I added pinches of:
Tumeric: a natural anti inflammatory
Cayenne: speeds up metabolism, lowers blood pressure, and helps circulation.
Ginger: aids in gastrointestinal issues
A small persimmon

A bit funny, but really good.

While shopping around, I came across this great little antique/vintage shop that carried soooooo many amazing things! I wanted to go home with everything!
I dropped my grocery bags and practically ran toward these fab items.

Vintage bottle holder with glass bottles…had to buy.
And a great dish with silverware, which I thought would be great for some food shots!
Ughhhhhhh, aren’t they precious!?
I just had to share. Sometimes, when you’re least looking, huh? ;)

Today, was a very special day…. I finally cleaned, and organized my fridge. I would of shown you a before pic, but it was just too embarrassing. I mean, it’s not like it was a hoarder pig fridge or anything, it just was a mess. Like a MESS.
so she she is, all pretty, and clean.

It’s amazing how much more you can fit in there, once you throw out all the weird, random shit you don’t need.
I didn’t need 5 different kinds of mustard. Really.

I promise, it’ll help you and encourage you to eat better and cleaner:)
It was definitely detoxifying…

After my Sunday shopping, I headed to sunday ZUMBA and got my dance on:) I had naughty foods last night so I figured, he’ll, lets burn some of that shit off. After class, sweaty n all, I headed over to the folks house, and got ready for a meat-eaters lunch…

Argentinian ribs, chorizo, and salad with chimichurri. The

The rents. The cutest. We love our Sunday bbq’s. Dad’s a master on the grill btw.

I get so hungry after I workout. Protein galore.

Excuse my inner carnivore.

After lunch, mom and I ran errands. Of course hit up our fave, Tj Maxx ;)
Yes, we are maxinistas;)
Hung out at home and laid low.
We were gonna go see Les Miserables, but, when I saw it was almost 3 hrs long…. I changed my mind. I probably would’ve passed out in the theater. That’s just too long to be sitting in there, I’m sorry.

Dinner was some local Thai food. I literally haven’t eaten Thai since I was actually in Thailand, which was in April. Ridiculous. My craving was gnarly, so I dragged mom, who had never tried Thai food, to a great little spot in town. It was delicious.

Now, in a food coma, it’s time for my bed. Up early mañana for a hike with my girl, Jules.
7:30 a.m to be precise.
Goodnight friends…..P
